You have to do it at the pump or inside so I had to back all the way out because there was a car in front of me.. went and got my code from the pump went through the car wash. Bought good to go from them and they wanted to give me two sandwiches that were old that cost almost the same price I was paying. The lady was very rude. Hard bread on sandwiches. I understand I'm getting older food because I'm buying good two go but at least make it worth it. It was almost the same price as you would normally pay but the sandwiches are old. Smh never again! Skip the car wash- stay for the fried foods especially the catfish. This shell has a great selection of fried foods 24hrs YES the car wash is a hot mess per order reviews- but the catfish with a side of hot sauce holds a special place in my heart. The clerk in the store was incredibly rude when I went here today. I went inside to pay for my gas because I was initially looking for something else they didn't carry. I paid for my gas but when I went out to the pump the transaction had been cancelled and the screen said to see the cashier. I go inside and this man starts making very condescending remarks and asked me (a woman) if this was my first time pumping gas. I initially brushed the comment off but he continued to try to mansplain to me the step by step process of using a gas pump. When I cut him off and told him to stop mansplaining a simple task I've been doing well over a decade, he then continued to argue with me and completely delayed my morning. And to top it off he kept staring me down while I was outside pumping my gas. It was grossly unprofessional and incredibly insulting. read more

This particular Shell location has always had the cheapest Shell gasoline in the Capitol Hill/Downtown area and are always among the cheapest gas in the same area. The only cheaper station that I have consistently found cheaper is the AM/PM Arco station a block south on 12th Avenue. The location features an adequate car wash that suffices if you are in a hurry or don't particularly care how your car is washed, as long as it is clean. Prices are competitive with comparable offerings, but for my money I'd rather go to Costco or Pink Elephant. Avoid the car wash on sunny days or you could be stuck there for awhile! The mini-mart is convenient with your standard fare and a few household products. Thank you SU college kids for that! read more

Wow. This Shell wins the record for the slowest gas pumps in the city of Seattle. Takes you about 10 minutes to fill up your tank. Ridiculous. Also, you can't pay for a car wash on your fleet card at the pump. read more

Every time I attempt to use the car wash here, something always goes wrong. Yesterday, the car in front of me couldn't get their code working. They paged the attendant and 10 minutes later still no help. I then called and talked with attendant and she said she would be out momentarily...another 10 went by and no one. I wish I seen the review for their car wash. It sucks so bad!!! Their sign that says 'Try Our New Car Wash' is old AF! I paid for the rainbow shine wash for $8 which is the middle one. The printing did not work so I don't know how much I am really charged yet. After the wash was done and the light turned green, I was like WTF?? My car was super wet still! So much for paying extra for extended dry! After I got to my destination I saw that my hood had dirty spots still. I'm so mad! read more

Why would I ever go here? The AM/PM just one block South has cheaper gas and a better car wash, and you can also vacuum out your car there. The answer: I used to have a Shell gas card. Now that I don't, there is no reason whatsoever. The convenience store at the Shell on 12th and Cherry is well-stocked, but that doesn't make up for the car wash being out of order on a regular basis. On my last visit I paid at the pump for a car wash along with my gas, and the car wash was out of commission. I asked the clerk for a refund, and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "come back later." I tried to do exactly that during my lunch break and after work to no avail-- it was out of order for at least three days! It had happened before as well, but at that time it didn't bother me as much since I hadn't already paid for it. There is a sign, but it is not always posted in such a manner that customers can see it from the street. My car is still dirty, and I just don't have time for this, so I'll be using the AM/PM right down the street from now on. read more
