My wife, who is 42, wasn't allowed to buy a lottery ticket because she didn't have ID. Fine--maybe that's the rule. But then I, a 36-year-old with grey hair and a full beard, was denied a lighter because I didn't show ID. The cashier insisted it was "state law," which is completely false. You don't even need to be 18 to buy a lighter in California. The staff here move like they're in slow motion and act like they've never been trained. It's like walking into a break room at a retirement home where no one knows what's going on. I'm all for protecting kids from adult products--but that's not what this is. This is incompetence, plain and simple. To the owner: pay a little more and hire people who can think. Right now, your store is staffed with the most clueless group of people I've ever seen in customer-facing roles. Do better.

When I walked in I saw a huge selection of bourbons off to the left side of the store so I gravitated over there....oh my...! Back to the cooler, I couldn't find the ale so as I was walking out I told the clerk how impressed I was with the bourbon selection and said I was looking for an ale but didn't see it. He said which and I told him "Old Speckled Hen" yep, that is the name but don't laugh it is really good. He said they have it and walked back and sure enough I missed it. I bought it and my friend was overjoyed to see it and said he thought it could only be found in pubs on draft...I told him about the bourbon selection as well as the location to buy more of the ale. Now, when I am at these places, all I care about are the following: is it easy to get into the lot, are there plenty of pumps, are the prices competitive, is it relatively clean, does the car wash use "soft" cloths instead of bristles, is it easy to operate the car wash payment station. All of this is A+ here. I don't expect warm and fuzzy, no conversations, no health foods. Just clean, reasonable, and efficient. In and out in less than 15 minutes, which is all the bandwidth I have for doing this. It is also easy to access from the 5North. The only drawback is trying to access it from any other street -- not doable. So, I put up with the inconvenience and make sure I do it on my way home from points south. What else would I like? Well, a full service gas attendant, gratis, but that's only in New Jersey. So, I am happy. As gas/carwashes go, it's a 5.

As a local resident who lives just a mile away, I have been pumping gas at this station every week…read moreor so for years. Today, however, I had a very unpleasant experience with the cashier at the front. I pulled into a stall and removed all the plugs from my tires in preparation to pump air. I then went inside to pay for the air, but the cashier refused to give me a token unless I first put gas in my car. I tried to reason with her that I was already prepared to pump air and that I would be putting gas in my car next, but she refused to budge. I was very disappointed with the cashier's attitude and lack of customer service. I am a loyal customer of this station, and I have never had a problem before. I find it unacceptable that the cashier would refuse to provide me with such a basic service, especially since I was already prepared to pay for it. In addition, I believe that the cashier's actions may be illegal under California law. California law requires gas stations to provide free air and water to customers who purchase gasoline or diesel fuel. Even though I had not yet put gas in my car, I was still a customer of the station and was entitled to free air. In the end, I did go back and pump gas but not the full tank as I had intended. I will not be returning to this gas station again. I urge other local residents to do the same. There are plenty of other gas stations in the area that will provide you with free air and better customer service. Terrible service!
