We hired Fred for what was initially described as approximately three days of work on our house while we were preparing to move in. The work was not completed as expected, and Fred ultimately made two additional visits. We paid him in full after the third visit. When we arrived home and examined the work, we reached out to arrange for a fourth visit because a substantial amount of work remained incomplete.
The process was particularly frustrating because the scope and expectations seemed to change repeatedly throughout the project. At different points, we were told that certain items could not be completed, that particular tools or materials were needed, or that additional time was required. We also had to purchase an attic ladder and wait for a subsequent visit for that portion of the work to be completed, after initially being told that Fred would be able to find one easily. Before his third visit, we simplified the punch list and reviewed it carefully with Fred in an effort to make the remaining expectations as clear as possible.
There were also quality issues that concerned us. After the work had been performed, we observed damage to our wood flooring in the area where the attic work had taken place, as well as paint that had been applied poorly to portions of our kitchen cabinets. We raised these concerns with Fred.
The communication ultimately broke down. After we expressed our frustration that the work was still incomplete and would require another visit, we took him up on his offer to make a fourth visit, and asked a third time by email for a firm date when he would return to finish the remaining work.
Fred did not respond to that email. Instead, he subsequently came to our property without arranging a visit with us and left a bag of supplies and an envelope of cash on the lawn, then emailed us saying he had done this. Despite previously telling us that he would return, he subsequently stopped responding to our calls and texts regarding the unfinished work.
I then sent one final email requesting an additional refund and giving Fred an opportunity to resolve the situation before we posted a review. He responded by email but did not offer a refund or offer to return to finish the work, and that was the last communication we had regarding the matter.
This was not the resolution we expected after paying the company in full for the agreed work following the third visit, particularly because we subsequently determined that significant portions of the work remained unfinished.
In retrospect, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this contractor establish a very specific written scope of work, document the condition of the property before and after each visit, and avoid making final payment until every agreed item has been inspected and completed.
To be fair, Fred did keep the price within what we considered a reasonable range for most items and did return twice to address unfinished work. However, our overall experience involved multiple visits, substantial unfinished work, concerns about the quality of portions of the work, and ultimately a breakdown in communication before the job was finished. The overall experience was sufficiently disappointing that we regret hiring ITTC and would not use the company again. Below are just a few images we took after the third visit, there are more showing incompleteness in almost every room in the house.
