Unfortunately, the administrative operations at this practice fall substantially below acceptable standards, fundamentally compromising the patient experience. In properly managed facilities, administrative personnel facilitate care rather than impede it. Here, routine interactions prove unnecessarily burdensome, and front office demeanor frequently registers as dismissive rather than patient-centered. When individuals are navigating health challenges, administrative friction compounds their burden and represents a failure of essential service. Particularly disheartening is watching capable clinical providers have their efforts consistently undermined by operational deficiencies. Healthcare demands collaboration across all levels. I woke up with pain radiating down my neck, spine, and arms to a point where I still can't move my upper body. I had been in to see Connie Ducharme a few months back for the same issue (less intense at the time). I called Fairlawn primary care this morning and asked for medication (not opiates) to help with the pain while I work on getting x-rays. I get a VM from Rebecca stating that my PA sent the script to a pharmacy I haven't used in years, which I had already updated with Fairlawn at my last visit, but THEY left it in the system. I called back and proceeded to ask if it could be transferred to my local pharmacy because I am in so much pain I can't drive long distances. I can't move my neck to switch lanes or sit up for long periods of time, etc. No empathy provided. Just Rebecca taking the phone and coming down my throat full force. Rebecca took the phone from the receptionist and proceeded to yell at me. "It's not Fairlawn's problem you have multiple pharmacies on file" - my response was "it was because I updated them during my last visit." I also reminded her that my prior medications a few months ago were sent to the correct CVS, why wasn't this one? She did not have any answers to my questions. She proceeded to say to me "every time you call you have an attitude." That is bullying and took me back. Especially because the last time I was in the office, Rebecca told me to drop her name if I wanted my boyfriend to become a patient, even though Fadi wasn't accepting anymore. Why extend that olive branch to a person that's always a problem? Gaslighting as its finest. Ethics complaint will be filed with the state when I am contacted with Rebecca's remaining details. Upholding patient autonomy, beneficence, and justice means respecting a patient's right to self-determination (autonomy), acting in their best interest (beneficence), and ensuring fair, equitable treatment for all (justice). My best interest was not acted in, Rebecca's was. Bullying me and threating to withhold medication is in direct violation with Rhode Island's Healthcare Ethics.

I went to another internist, because I didn't trust Meer and the new internist caught my heart valve issue on the first visit by comparing a new EKG to one in the records from Meer's office. He sent me immediately to a cardiologist who had a cardiac echo done that showed the torn valve. A few weeks later and I had open heart surgery to replace my mitral valve. Surgeon said if I had listened to Meer I'd be dead! Stay away from this guy unless you want to see the worst doctor in history!

I was very disappointed in that and then my post op was fine but the attitude was chilly because I chose not to continue with a revision- at that time. It wasn't off the table but I wanted to give it a try and I'm glad I did because after a rough start, I'm doing great. So yes, I totally recommend Dr Giovanni, she's friendly personable and did a great job but was disappointed with the after surgery care and the chilly reception at my post op. I won't say avoid her, but if you're prone to allergic reactions or issues after surgery have a back up plan with your primary. She is a busy surgeon with a broad repertoire of skills and her staff got me an appointment in short order for my problem. Unfortunately, she had a surgical emergency that required her to cancel office hours, but the fact that she deals with such serious cases in addition to her other workload means she is a very competent, broadly trained physician. When she did finally see me, she was able to address my problem and fix it rather quickly, offering a timely solution. Note that anyone can perform surgery, now they have robots that can do it, but what distinguishes a good surgeon from a mediocre one is that the competent surgeon knows when *not* to operate or perform a seriously invasive procedure. Thankfully, Dr. Giovanni knew exactly what to do and I was sent on my way with a much less invasive procedure than I had anticipated. Her bedside manner was excellent, and she not only answered all my questions, but treated me like a human being and gave importance to all my concerns. Getting appointments with the practice has been notably smooth throughout my time with them; the staff is willing to work with you based on your needs and clinician availability. I've also enjoyed seeing a few of the other practice members (eg Benitez, Berg, Rodriguez), each of whom is thorough, knowledgeable, and helpful. The use of the Healow medical app as a portal, and their fully integrated connectivity to electronic medical record systems, has given me peace of mind that all my instances of care are suitably connected in one place. It's also convenient to be able to head downstairs for a quick and easy blood draw when required - and again, clear results are available in the app shortly thereafter. I've also noticed the patient set is younger than it used to be - not just geriatrics anymore. As important as anything above, Dr Ruggieri is friendly and engaged during visits, as the rest of the staff I've dealt with are also. I definitely have a "medical home" at Wayland Medical.

Years ago however, this clinic was less than stellar under past ownership, but now it's been GREATLY improved. The office and rooms are super-clean and the staff is exceptionally friendly and caring. My experience was like 'night and day' compared to prior visits. A big positive was the short waiting time...At most walk-ins, you can expect to wait almost an hour to be seen. My waiting time was at most 5-6 minutes. I also didn't have to sit in the patient room for very long either. I was immediately greeted by a friendly nurse and the doctor (Daniela Turacova) just a few minutes later. Dr. Turacova is simply one of the best medical doctors in Rhode Island. Her bedside manners are second-to-none and she's very accommodating. She will ensure that you'll feel better and the time spent with her never feels rushed. It's apparent that she truly CARES about your health and well-being! By comparison, at many walk-in clinics I felt like I was just a number at a deli counter. Cons: The wait is exceptionally long considering the patient-to-staff ratio. It's an $80 flat fee to be seen without coverage, which is reasonable. They didn't pressure me to do x-rays, but upon the doctor's recommendation and being told that the x-rays were usually around $40, I decided to do one, and my foot was indeed broken. They fitted me with a walking sandal and an Ace bandage and I paid another $55 upon checkout, which seemed extremely reasonable. I recently received an unexpected $270 bill. No itemization on it and they didn't apply the $55 I paid at checkout to the balance. I have no idea what I'm paying for. They told me when I checked in that x-rays were around $40, which is the main reason I opted to have one. Even if it was $40 per view, they only did 3 different views. I'm not pleased with this place. Probably would've given them a 3 or 4 stars before. Thanks to this, they're getting a 2.

She had a biopsy done on Monday and is currently in pain. When we called the office we had to speak to the on call doctor. After a 2 hour wait he called, said he doesn't know the specifics of her case and won't prescribe anything to her, and she should wait till Tuesday when Dr Kerzer is back in the office or go to the emergency room. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.
