Found this coffee shop on yelp and decided to give it a try. There were a few patrons inside and seated outside on the handful of tables. Slightly down market area with several transients in the vicinity, I would not want to visit alone. That said we received a warm greeting from a new staff member and had high hopes for our morning cup. Unfortunately the coffee, their own blend, lacked zest and flavour. The baked goods looked amazing, we didn't try them but they looked crispy. Some baked items seemed day old, not sure, but probably were. Coffee was sub par so we decided to look elsewhere and didn't end up drinking the coffee. Sorry, but I would not visit again, maybe this wasn't representative of their normal experience.

A 3.5 Star coffee spot (but not worthy of the bump up to 4 stars) in "mid beach" Miami Beach right on Collins, a short walk from Faena, across the street from the Miami Beach Edition hotel and steps away from a favorite, totally hidden gem Peruvian/Ceviche joint called Ceviches by Divino (soooo good - even for the non-ceviche/fish/seafood lover - see my review). Note - we were iso a coffee drink after an afternoon on the beach but before heading out to dinner. Shepherd is a perfect coffee spot if you're looking for something other than Sbux (across the street in the Edition hotel). It's a cute, local spot and hangout. Loads of inside table seating, outside sidewalk seating too (but no scenery to speak of sitting outside so might as well enjoy hanging inside in air conditioning lol), clean and open, nicely decorated with friendly service. I took a snap of the menu board. Basic variety of coffee drinks, hot and cold. And an assorted selection of muffins and pastries. They have other food on their menu including bfast items but we weren't looking for a meal - but if we were, nothing on their menu sparked any interest imo. My companion (a hot and iced latte aficionado) said the iced vanilla latte she ordered us both was good because it wasn't too sweet. One of few coffee shops in the immediate local area so if you're looking for an indie spot, Shepherd does the job just fine. No complaints, just not anything amazing and out of this world to rave about.

Ripoff, bad service, bad juice. I got a juice and a coffee, they charged me $2 for a splash of oat milk, and the juice was only half full. I said it's only half full and they just looked at me. It was all foam and tasted really weird like she left the peels on or something shouldn't have been in there idk what but I threw it away. I order juice all the time and also juice at home, I've never been handed a cup of foam, how she did that w a straight face idk. I went here years ago and liked the place I thought the bad reviews were maybe wrong, but nope. I will never go back. Awful.

In A Nutshell: -The Shepard Artisan Coffee shop is a decent coffee shop. -Instead of walking to the Starbucks nearby, I rather support local & try their coffee. -Their drip coffee w/ added expresso shot hit the spot to start the day in South Beach perfectly. -You can sit inside w/ plenty of space & they also have some baked goods to snack on. Overall, it's a nice coffee shop to people walk while you start your day in Miami Beach!

Great ambiance and good GF options. I ordered the American breakfast and had their latte. My husband ordered the Shepard breakfast with a latte as well. My kids loved the little library nook they have. It was a busy morning so our food took about 30 min and it wasn't as hot as I wanted. Bacon was not as crispy as I would've liked it. Lots of nice choices here for a healthy eater. The juices I like the best here are the V4 which is a green juice with ginger and spinach and the V5 which is a red juice that has carrots and beets. My favorite of the salads is the Greek Salad. If it's not enough for you I'd recommend adding salmon to it and it makes for a nice portion. My favorite of the sandwiches here are the tuna salad or the salmon sandwich on baguette. The tuna salad is particularly good. The only sandwich I didn't care too much for is the King Shepherd. It has cream cheese, mixed greens and eggs but for some reason it just didn't work for me. The indoor seating area is fairly large and gives you room to create space if necessary. It feels bright and well lit and has a pleasant feel. Bonus - there's a big glass jug of lemon water with cups in case you're thirsty. The outdoor seating area is smaller due to the adjacent sidewalk but during the day there is typically space to sit. Employees here are nice and they get the food out in short order. Good stuff all around!

Small iced latte and yogurt parfait grab and go

A good cafe alternative to Starbucks in the mid beach area. I came here twice on my vacation since it was so close. There is currently seating inside and outside. The iced lattes were really good, I had them both times I came here. Very smooth flavor. The avocado toast was deff a let down. There seemed to be no seasonings whatsoever. I found some salt and pepper packets though to try to add a little something. The egg was an add on and cooked over easy as I requested. Not really up to par compared to other avocados toasts I've had. The second time I visited I wanted the açaí bowl, but they were out. Instead I got the next best thing, the grab and go yogurt parfait. This was pretty typical with strawberries, blueberries, vanilla yogurt, granola, and I think raisins. The granola was a little soggy so it had probably been made that morning and sat for a little bit.

What a great finding. I was walking around the neighborhood as I was staying at the Palms and found this gem. Excellent coffee, and breakfast, Well the menu has tons of options. The ambiance is so cool with a small little library. The girls at the counter gave an excellent service. Hopefully I will come back soon.

Decent coffee, horrible service. It's slow AF. Thankfully I only got a latte because while I was waiting for it, two parties sent back food because the order was wrong. Also, when I was paying I was referrred to as "sir." Mind you, I was in a crop too and booty shorts. I am not a sir.

We walk to this coffee shop instead of going to a Starbucks, we wanted to support local businesses. They have a good selection of coffee and alternative milk choices. They also have a breakfast sandwich with a croissant or bagel. We got the breakfast croissant and an iced vanilla latte. Delicious.

What a treat and an escape from your standard franchise coffee shop! A visit to Shepard Artisan Coffee while in South Beach was just what the doctor ordered. I just arrived in town, it was actually cold in South Beach and I was starving. I didn't want 'hotel food' nor did I want fast food, just something healthy and good. We stumbled across Shepard Artisan Coffee and boy were we happy we did. I had one of the most delicious grilled chicken sandwiches and homemade iced tea. The food was delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is warm and inviting with cafe tables inside and out. If you are nearby give it a try, they also have pastries that looked wonderful but I was too full to try! read more

Delicious, quick, and pretty affordable breakfast! We were in search of a nice place but didn't want to pay hotel prices, and this hit the spot! Don't come here unless you want racial microaggressions. The coffee is fine but this is a questionable spot. The person checking out asked us if we could afford the coffee after remarking that it was "very expensive". It wasn't, it was the same price as the average cup of coffee in any big city. Won't be getting anymore of our black dollars. read more

I came to Miami Beach for a weekend and fell in love with this place! The food at my hotel wasn't great/was super overpriced, and I stumbled upon Shepherd as I was looking for other options. I ended up loving their food and vibe so much that I ate there everyday. They have great options for all meals of the day! I loved the açaí bowl (had it every morning!) and also tried the kale salad and cinnamon roll. I think their pricing is really fair compared to what you find in the area, and the staff was friendly! read more

I know croissants; and this wasn't a croissant. This was like a crushed hamburger bun. The ham and cheese stuffing where ok. Washed it down way at wayyy overpriced 12 oz can of soda at $3.50. This was all about location; but not a referral. Service was friendly. read more

Super overpriced for mediocre quality. There are much better local coffee shops nearby. I was appalled for the price of a $19 bagel sandwich that they don't even bring the food to your table -- and the place was completely empty at the time! The sandwich was so greasy we didn't want to eat it. The shakshuka was better but still seemed like cheap ingredients for a $20 pricetag. The orange juice tasted like it's from concentrate, and even the coffee was disappointingly flavorless. Avoid! I read more

Love this place! We were staying nearby at the AC hotel and found this great alternative to Starbucks. The iced coffee was strong but smooth, and the gf liked her iced latte. They have an incredible selection of pastries and the decor is chic. Great place to grab a quick coffee. read more

Coming here for breakfast every day and like it. Coffee is the best that we tried around, order oatmeal and açaí bowl almost all the time-it's tasty and healthy, although ooatmeal is a little bit plai maybe a little of milk would help( were mixing with açaí). Although it's self -Serve it's fast and counter staff is friendly. Didn't like smoothies- too sweet, they make it from purées . Will be coming back again , comparing too fancy restaurants around this one is a greedy , tasty, reasonable option read more

One of my favorite places in SoBe to eat Their Greek salad is so fresh and delicious I'm surprised to see other reviewers saying that the prices are overpriced. I don't think that at all. A salad is like 10/11ish and protein is 3-6ish more. I can't attest to the drinks but this location is spacious and clean. read more

I like this café is Oceane coffee shop was really nice when I went there the latte was really good when you check it and you'll get a bonus of some beverage there I also mention that I don't drink alcohol and they went ahead and gave me the bonus with a nonalcoholic latte which I thought was amazing because there's satisfying the customer and not locking themselves into the exact offer that they mention which is phenomenal. Their regular coffee is okay, but I recommend their matcha latte and regular latte -- both are very good.. however they don't have skim milk! You would think while in Miami it would be a standard to have all sorts of milks available especially nonfat since people are so into their bodies / keeping fit there-- that was very disappointing. Otherwise it's a super cute cafe, nice sized breakfast portions. Empanadas were okay. Lacked flavor/ spice. read more

Coffee is fine, but brewed coffee has a pretty wide margin of acceptability. The acai bowl was terrible. The acai mixture itself was both too liquidy (lik soup) and tasted like it had too much grape or some other juice added to it, probably why it was so soupy). The mixture was too sweet, when it should be much more tart. Seriously, it tasted like grocery store kosher wine. The fruit topping was so standard - bananas, blueberries and strawberries - and scant in quantity. I think it would be generous to say I got one whole strawberry. Shouldn't there be at least some tropical fruit? The meager sprinkling of shredded coconut doesn't count. Lastly, for the love of God, why were there raisins in there? Buzzkill. Now my biggest issue with the place was that the guy making my (and two other) acai bowls had a bandaid on a finger of his one hand and a glove on the other hand. But used the non-glove hand to touch the food!!!! Yes, if you were following, the naked hand with a bandaid on it was touching the fruit and granola. Let's hope that all the supposed antioxidants from the acai (or grapes) is helping my immune system stave off whatever contaminants I may have consumed. read more

If you want to enjoy the absolute BEST coffee in town and eat great food that is fresh, healthy, and delicious, Shepherd is your place! From the moment you walk through the door, you are greeted by some of the nicest people you may ever meet, and will enjoy great customer service and treatment. Shepherd's food is delicious and the coffee machine is an actual site to see! It's an Elektra coffee machine that is hand-made, copper and gold plate, and is the first of its kind in the state of Florida! I come to Shepherd daily, sometimes twice a day, for coffee and either lunch or a pastry. I love it! read more

Way better coffee than"Nativ" at Hotel 1. Go here instead. They actually make great espresso. Ordered their Shepherd Bagel with cheese and eggs --- was great. Soft bagel, perfectly cooked eggs. Will be back. Even though it's further than going to Hotel 1 from where I am, it's worth the walk. They're also clean and they seem to be family owned which is always a plus. read more

Came to the art Basel show this week and i am staying in a hotel near by this unique place . The place look beautiful but what catch my site is this unexplainable espresso machine , of course i didn't hesitate and order a cup a coffee and it was small peace of heaven ! We found this place as it was down the street from our hotel. The decor was adorable and the place was packed so we figured it was a safe option. We ordered 2 paninis and they were both delicious! The sandwiches were pretty big so I wold say it works for more of a heavier late breakfast. Service was good, food was delish. I noticed later in our trip that there were a few of these shops within Miami Beach, so I'm sure they're good everywhere! read more

This has to be the worst place ever in the history of coffee shops. Got myself a veggie wrap. The gauc was stale (completely black) hummus was disgusting. The lady was also quite rude and I paid $15 for this wrap. All other items also looked stale so please m avoid eating at this place if you can. read more

I loved this place! The venue is so trendy and reasonably priced compared to other places on the beach. I came in the afternoon for a iced chai latte and it was soo good! Such great coffee!! I also got a chicken kale salad which was tasty & very packed with flavor (salad was ~$12 with tax). They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating so you never have to wait for a table, even when it's busy. They also had tons of pastries and sandwiches which looked really good and are probably a better bang for your buck. I'll definitely be back for another coffee next time I'm in town! read more

Established in 2015.

Legend has it, that in the ninth century there was once a shepherd named Kaldi who lived in a small village in Ethiopia. One day he noticed his goats running around and dancing with great energy. After observing them, he found that the goats had been eating some small red fruits from one of the bushes on his land. When the shepherd tasted one of the fruits, his vitality and energy were substantially renewed. This lead to the discovery of the coffee bean seed and the beverage so many around the world love!

Great decor. Love the blue and the dark brown and how well it goes together. The establishment is really clean. The book shelves have popping color for more visual aesthetic. The coffee was good. Light, not too strong in taste but strong to wake you up. The shakshouka was actually some of the best I've had here in the United States. It actually tasted like I was eating it in Tel Aviv. I also ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant. Fresh ingredients, but the croissant wasn't as buttery as it should be from a culinary standpoint. However it was still really good. I'd definitely recommend this place. There's a Starbucks across street which I'd rather support local and independent businesses. Give this a try for sure. You'll love it. read more

Regretted coming here the minute we got our food. Poorly made eggs with wilted lettuce and cut tomatoe (not a salad). Anyone can make this stuff they serve at home in 3 minutes. Also forget about getting your coffee with your order all at the same time, and if you ask for it you'll get an attitude. If you want a place to regret coming to, then come here!! read more
