I have done a review for Shepherd Eye Center and my Doctor there is Dr. Gastor and he is wonderful but I recently had eye Surgery At Shepherd Surgery Center and my Surgeon there was Tushina A. I recently had a scary eye experience and was referred to Dr. Adam Rovit. From my first phone call for an appointment everything was professionally handled by the friendly office staff. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted with a friendly smile. My appointment was on time. Upon meeting Dr. Rovit, for the first time, I felt comfortable. Dr Rovit was well informed about my condition and gave me printed information that explained third nerve palsy. Dr. Rovit was professional yet friendly and had a good sense of humor which was what I needed to relieve my stress.Dr.Rovit took the time to answer all of my questions and did not rush me out the door. I left my appointment feeling valued and correctly diagnosed. As it turns out my condition progressed exactly as Dr. Rovit explained it would.My follow up visit went as well as my initial evaluation. I was recommended here by my 80+ yr old parents. I got an appointment within 2 weeks. I went in and had test ran by the technician. Dr Alder finally came in, reviewed what the tech did and nothing else. Was in and out within @3 mins. No one ever said my eyes needed a new prescription which I had already been having problems with and then they charged me over $200 for a new pair of glasses and said they would be in within 2 more weeks. One month later I finally received them. They dug a sore sport in the side of my nose, I had to have 2 adjustments. Finally I took them back, again got talked into a different frame, they said two weeks. Still waiting???? Just my opinion but I won't be back.... read more

When I scheduled my appointment, the office informed me that they are on both my health insurance plan and my vision plan. During my appointment they documented my very mild cataract as my primary diagnosis even though I only requested a routine eye exam. They also did a refraction test that I did not request. I was charged $50 for the test and was told my vision or health plans would not cover my visit due to my cataract diagnosis. They refused to submit my claim for the eye exam. I would not recommend this provider for your eyecare. read more

They don't even do contact lens exams there anymore... the more ridiculous part was when the receptionist said, "you could ask the doctor and see if he'll do it for you!" She said that they might do it for me this time because I've had it done there before (I've been there the last 3 years and had it each year...) all this explanation was after she'd taken my payment and I said nope just refund me and I'm out. I don't have time to "see" if an eye doctor will do me the favor of doing my contact lens exam when my card was already charged over $100 for an exam... the whole thing was BS. This is my last visit here thank God! My first visit with eye doctor was okay. He was very professional as one should be. I wear contacts and when it was time to pick them up the boxes were not marked right or left or dated. Oh ya and just sent over to pay for them. I didn't even try them on for a correct fitting. I have taken care of all of this now but just be warned about coming here for CONTACT LENS! Also know that you won't get a phone call on how you are doing. So unprofessional this place is! Called to schedule my daughter for lasik in the southwest clinic. Was surprised that they charge $195 for an initial consultation. (I have talked with four other lasik places and the consultations are free.) Second question was, "Do you have a military discount?" Answer, "No", yet Dr. Shepherd loves to tout his military service in the Army in his advertising. Didn't schedule an appointment and called Lasik of Nevada instead. I am not cheap and am willing to pay top dollar for my daughter's surgery but the fee and not recognizing military folks while using his Army service in his advertising is an indicator of an organization I don't want to deal with. read more

I wish I could give a no star rating. Probably the worst experience I could ever have at an optometrist office to date. Charged me for services I didn't need under the guise I checked some box. Called to dispute the charges but got nowhere with the rude woman that was supposedly a "customer service representative". Common sense would tell you an adult under 50 years old doesn't need to be checked for cataracts. This establishment is nothing more than a big conglomerate cattle call. Wait time is ridiculous. Then they shuffle you off to where you have to pick out glasses, more waiting. The staff there didn't know how to read my insurance and over charged me for the glasses I picked out, which I later canceled and went elsewhere for. I will never go back again. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED! I have been clinic manager before and know that a simple gesture can make difference with patients. It does not mean you work in scheduling (you sit right next to front desk) you cannot help someone who is not making schedule/appointment. This particular day the front desk receptionist was on the phone, all I needed was forms to update my parents information in your system. Why do I have to wait for the receptionist when someone could have given me the blank forms (I asked but was turned away and told I have to wait for the receptionist). My son is a new patient in this clinic, we were referred by his pediatrician. Our experience was horrible! The medical assistant was rude and the Dr. Rovitt shouted at my son 3 times because he is not opening his eyes. This doctor should not be in pediatric practice. He is impatient and rude! My son is only 3 years old and his 1st time for a visual check-up! Overall experience was horrible! Thought I was going to the Doctor, but felt like I ended up on some shady used car lot full of scamming sales people. They have you sign financial documents that you can't even see. Everything seemed way over priced! Why do I feel like they will probably send me a bill for erroneous charges, even though I paid for everything upfront????Doctors and staff don't seem very knowledgable, and are not informative. after my eye doctor retired, i searched for a new one and found shepherd eye center. they found my problem which my original doctor didn't and prescribed new glasses with a prism lens and i can finally see again. since then, i've returned for an additional pair and working with the girls in that department has been nothing but exceptional. i use the office on the nw side of town. read more

Five star because the doctors and technicians that perform the testing are the best. And, when it gets down to it, that's what's important. However, I spent over $400 this past visit and the optician would not give me a new glass case because I just replaced the lenses in a pair of glasses I previously purchased from Shepherd. And her attitude was like " how dare I ask?". I would have forgone the cleaner and wipes for a new case. Do glass cases really cost that much?? read more

Very bad customer service. I called to get my annual exam and also get my eye inspected for a mild redness. The woman on the phone impatiently asked me if it was for the annual or a medical check up, I told her I wanted both and she insisted I chose one. I told her I would do two appointments if necessary and then she finally agreed. Afterwards she begins asking me all my personal information and I ask her if I can give her the more sensible information before my appointment (I offered to be there earlier too) which she refused. I told her to cancel my appointment request and ended the call. I was polite through the whole conversation and see this as very hostile towards potential patients and also very unpolite and insensitive customer service. If I could give zero stars, I would. I don't think I have EVER had a more substandard eye exam. My insurance was billed in excess of $500 for provider services. The majority of the eye exam was performed by what appeared to be a tech. She had me look at letters through exactly (3) lenses asking if they were better or worse than the prior view. I told her that there was NO significant difference in any of them. This inadequate exam took less than 5 minutes. The time with the licensed provider was equally as unimpressive. She dilated my eyes and spent about 2-3 minutes looking at my eyes through a machine. She noted a difference in my left eye and asked if anyone has noted this on a prior exam. I mentioned that I had a lazy eye as a child and she accepted that as the reason for the issue. I received no visit summary, no discharge instructions and had a difficult drive home in bright sunlight with dilated eyes. PLEASE- don't waste your time on this place. My doctor referred me here. They are a bit pricey and very busy but the doctors are amazing! It always surprises me when you have doctors that actually care about you. I saw Dr. Carolyn Cruvant. She was very thorough in her examination of my eyes, going over medication and administering care for my eyes. The medical assistants are also very friendly. Great place for eye care. read more

Did I have to give them one star? Terrible service. I went in to get my cataracts checked. They told me one service was not covered, but they did not advise me that it was for an eye exam. I advised them I have been to several eye specialists and have NEVER received a bill. I did not want a prescription for glasses, and if they were honest and told me it was for an eye exam for prescription glasses I would have declined. I have received the exam where they check your eyes - is 1 or 2 better. Then the doctor hands me a prescription for eye glasses using the same #s as the eye glasses I got from the DOLLAR STORE. Thievery! They should not be able to get away with these deceitful practices. PLEASE do not go to them - they are terrible. I had this test done previously at several other eye specialist - and NEVER been billed. This place is only trying to get as much money out of us as they can. Two weeks ago I booked an appointment with their scheduler for today, 8-1-2022. It's been a while since I had an eye check-up so I felt like it was a good idea, but I told the scheduler I am very busy as a small business owner and I was not interested in sitting in a waiting room for hours. She assured me that because she was booking me early, 8am, that I would be seen quickly. I arrived about 10 min early and walked into the waiting room to see about 30 people already waiting. I asked the woman at the front desk how long the wait would be and without speaking to me like a human, she just pointed to a sign that said wait times can exceed 20 minutes due to check-in and co-pay procedures. After reading that, and looking at the crown of people already waiting, I walked right out the door. After leaving I read dozens of reviews about how this place is just scheduling far more appointments than they can handle and wait times are ridiculous. Also, $244 for a check up? Nope. I'll find a small doctor operation who actually cares about patients. read more

Can't say enough about Dr. Emily Fant and the technicians. I have been seeing Dr Fant for several years now for Glaucoma. She appeared very concerned with my condition and explained the procedure results and her findings . She answered my many questions and I did not feel rushed at all. Over the years she has managed to get my eye pressure down from elevated to slightly elevated in one eye to normal in the other eye. In fact I am off drops all together and now on six months check ups. Thank you Dr. Fant and the expert technicians. I would also like to add the waiting time in the waiting room and between procedures was minimal in comparison to other doctors office visits I have experience. read more

I had a small surgery with Dr Cassen to removed a chalazion that didn't go away for a few months with medication although it took me a few weeks to recover my experience with Dr Cassen was great she was checking on how was my eyelid following up every week, i just got a text now that I fully recovered just to check that everything is fine. While the actual doctor was great with my toddler and we are returning for a follow up, the scheduling department messed up with our appointment and cancelled as I was pulling in to the parking lot. I had an appointment for 12:50 today. Got there on time and checked in using the machine in the lobby then sat down to wait. After 30 minutes and several people that got there after me being called I spoke to the counter staff and was told that yes she saw me in the computer, I should sit down and wait. Ten minutes later I was called to the counter and was told that I was late to my appointment and I said no but she insisted that I was late because I had checked in at 1:17. I said no I was not late and tried to explain what had happened the young lady interrupted me and said that's ok you will be seen next. I figured something had gone wrong with the machine check in which resulted in the long wait and I was not happy. She took my chart to the back and I sat down to wait some more. Several more patients were called and I still waited. Finally I just told them to cancel my appointment after waiting for almost an hour. I am not going back there, there are plenty of eye doctors in Henderson they don't need my business. read more

After waiting almost 2 hours to be seen, a very young man did my eye exam which was clumsy and confusing. I had to ask that the he go back to certain lenses when he would hurriedly skip over several. After I waited much longer, the doctor finally saw me only to tell me I didn't even need glasses, despite a restriction on my driver's license explicitly indicating that I do. When I insisted that my vision makes it very difficult to see far distances and that I was hoping to get contact lenses due to the nature of my job, he dismissed me to billing where I was haphazardly scheduled (months out) for a contact fitting of which I was never notified or reminded, despite being told I would be. I was not offered a frame fitting or an opportunity to test the prescription I was given, which did not match my previous prescription even by a little. I will be asking for a new referral from my doctor. read more

Do not schedule an appointment at Shepherd's Eye clinic if you have any type of medical or surgical issue. Please note all of the negative reviews. I scheduled an appointment with an ophthalmologist. I am not mentioning his name because he may be able to perform routine eye exams, although I would not recommend him for exams either. I have a medical condition that he was obviously unfamiliar with. He initially provided me with wrong information--and, then when he realized I was also a healthcare professional--he denied saying it. I purposively did not mention that I have a doctorate in another healthcare field. Any competent physician would have recognized their inexperience and immediately referred me to another surgical specialist. As a healthcare professional, it makes me very sad to encounter other professionals in the field who really do not care about their patients--or perhaps they are just arrogant? Of course, to make matters worse, I insulted him when I questioned him. So, he felt it necessary to insult me right back. read more

So disappointed in what this place has become. Sold out to corporate about a year ago and it shows. You guys are a disgrace to Dr. Shepherd and to Dr. Craythorn, who used to work there who was an amazing doctor. I still had faith in this institute even though Dr. Craythor no longer practiced here, went for an eye exam and prescription and never even made it to the exam room. I confirmed that procedures and fees were about the same over the phone when I made my appointment, since I used to come here regularly for about 16 years but haven't been back for about 3. I showed up here they wanted to charge me a lot more than discussed which i was still goinh to pay, but THEN tell me I might have to come back another day to see another lady for the prescription if it "had changed much" and would have to pay separately AGAIN to come back to do that, even though I was supposed to be here to see her in the first place. But there was no reduction in the fee for today for the health exam. What rubbed me the most is they were just so unabashed about the fleecing, and then further delighted in charging me an extra fee after all that because I was considered "new" since it's been over three years since I've been here, even though before that I was here consistently for 16 years. The lady happily informed me that that didn't really mean anything to them, because they have had patients for 50 years that she would still charge them the same new patient fee if there was a gap in them coming because they are corporate now , and no longer owned by Dr. Shepherd. Wow. I sat and thought about all that for a minute then asked to be refunded and left. Because I just going to give up and pay the exorbitant fee , but just couldn't after that. There are so many other places that deserve my money, which was over $200 for an eye exam. Overcharging, rude women running the whole front office. I encountered 4 and I was there for only 20 minutes. They also advised me to come a bit early to do paperwork and I was there 10 minutes prior, and then sat there for 20 minutes before they even called me up there to hand me any sort of form at all.
