Whole wings; dry rub with ranch dressing.
    Deanna S.

My husband visited this place before I did and he and a friend really liked it. He was eager to see how I would feel about it. First off, I enjoyed the ambiance. It was clean and cozy. Music was playing but it wasn't so loud that we couldn't have real conversation. The server was helpful and kind -- and extremely attentive. My husband had the dry rub wings - garlic parm with ranch dressing. He enjoyed them very much. I had the meatloaf sandwich. which is made of seared meatloaf, topped with caramelized onions & smoked gouda cheese, served with jalapeno ketchup on texas toast. If I had to do it over again I would have the ketchup on the side and use it sparingly. It was delicious but I would have preferred slightly less ketchup on the sandwich. The sandwich over all was so tasty. I would absolutely get it again. I ordered it with mashed potatoes and gravy and they were yummy as well. True comfort food. Iced tea and the quality of it is important to me. I detest bottled tea, or tea out of a soda fountain. If it's not brewed fresh on site, I do not enjoy my meal the same way. I was thrilled at the quality of the iced tea and had four glasses and took one to go cup. I will definitely go back to this place many times.

Everything has been consistently inconsistent lately- from service to food. We didn't get our pretzels for a crazy long tonight before our to go order showed up 30 secs later. When we got home, we were very disappointed. Nashville hot chicken plate. Chicken strips not breasts were crazy overcooked and over spiced with cayenne. We love spice but this was inedible and not sauced/glazed as Nashville hot chicken should be. The Mac wasn't cheesy gooey saucy as it should be. And they managed to burn the collards. Very disappointed.

I thought this place was great, I don't really understand the bad reviews. We came with our dogs and sat on the patio. It was August in the evening, so patio was roasting, but them's the breaks with dogs. The waitress was a gem, friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. I had the loaded tater tots with pulled pork. I swear the tater tots were double fried, they were perfection. My husband's Mac n cheese was delicious. We split a piece of cheesecake which I think was made in house, the crust was too delicious to be from Sysco. We will go back.

Legit no idea why there are so many bad reviews- I probably wouldn't have come here if I'd seen the rating ahead of time but I'm so glad I didn't! This place is fire. Loaded tater tots were legit best I've ever had and staff was super friendly and attentive. I have zero complaints about my experience.

2.75 Good wings, not great wings. One order was crispy and one order was soft and gummy. The dill blue cheese was chunky, thick and delicious. A BLT was split between two of us. Not one slice of bread was crispy, but rather limp. I'd always noticed this corner spot changing over the years and never stopped in. I likely won't again.

    The wings of death

I hurt myself! More on that later. Formerly known as Claiente, Shepherd St. Tavern is a hip neighborhood pub that boast an excellent menu. We started out with a unique appetizer of almond stuffed dates wrapped in succulent bacon!! I know it sounds a bit weird, but it was superb. My buddy had an outrageously yummy chicken sandwich that was the star of his day. Now, back to how I hurt myself, it seems Shepherd St continued the tradition of the Stupid Wing challenge, wings so hot that I'm sure they could melt lead. Yes, you have to sign a waver for this culinary torture. Now, there is just no way to describe the level of heat in these eight death wings. All I can say is that I have always prided myself as a bonafide chili head, but these super nova wings brought me to my knees. I only made it through a wing and a half before I was forced to tap out and beg my bartender Jessie for four glasses of milk. Jessie also suggested that I pick up some yogurt at 7-11 across the street. I frantically smeared the yogurt on my face, certain that I was about to sport at the very least second degree burns. If you attempt this challenge, you have my utmost respect, but I seriously think you are missing out on the best part of this pub and that is its wonderful menu. Avoid the challenge, and you will be able to skip saying, "I think I hurt myself."

Egg-white omelette with spinach and peppers. Veggie patties, home fries, and wheat toast.

I'll admit the food was cheap, but this was a terrible experience. My friends and I came here because it was across the street from a workout studio, so we thought it would be a quick breakfast. The food took over 45 minutes after we ordered to arrive. Then my one friend had a burnt omelette, and to make matters worse there was a small hair in it. My other friend had a stale bagel that tasted "soapy." My other friend got French toast and bacon, both of which were overcooked. Only my other two friends were semi-satisfied. None of our food was warm when it came out. This restaurant needs some major revamp in terms of service and food quality.

$5 burger night with Beyond Meat burger patty

I saw SST had Burger Night on Tuesdays and was offering the Beyond Burger at a great price. Some friends and I decided to check it out with me arriving first. I waited for a host to seat me but the bartender told me to sit wherever. When the server finally greeted me, her energy was not very welcoming. I can go on and on about how rude the red-haired female server was, from the eye rolling to the "I told you I was going to bring you menus" (after we'd been waiting 20 minutes), but I'm not. I wouldn't have stayed but I wanted to try my hand at being patient since she seemed to be the only person serving the entire restaurant. The food was really good and my friends and I were thankful they offered a vegan option. Would I return? Yes, but not if she is my server. I'd rather leave or sit at the bar.

The kind of meal that has you slowing down between bites just to appreciate it. Brickfire is the total package -- incredible food, an atmosphere that feels romantic and inviting, and an owner who genuinely cares about your experience. Their menu is interesting, but I have to say I was disappointed to not find vegetarian options for their pizzas. There might have been one, but for a truly artistic place in such a liberal, artsy area, they should have had more options. Service was mixed - Our main server was forgetful and spacey... We would ask for things and he'd acknowledge and walk away only to come back a few minutes later and ask what we asked him for. Come on... Do better, management! As for the food - The pizzas really needed a slightly higher temperature and about 30 seconds more. The meatballs were cold inside and the sauce was luke warm. The Calabrian cauliflower was also on the cool side - very odd considering we saw char marks on them. Hmm... The flavor of the pizzas was nice though, but it would have been so much better if it was a little more charred and crusty. Overall - This was on my 'hit list' for visiting the downtown Richmond area, that's why I brought colleagues here for dinner, unfortunately it didn't deliver - far from it.

We had our pick of high-tops or traditional seating and chose a booth (the superior choice IMO). The ambiance and atmosphere felt modern and classic with a touch of ostentatious flair (the bird mural and columns up front were gorgeous). I prefer a curated menu and Fall Line keeps it simple. There are options for most people here. We ordered the skillet cornbread to start. C'est magnifique. We ordered from the sharables menu: the barrata, grilled cauliflower, and burnt ends. The barrata was the clear winner, followed by the cornbread. The burnt ends tasted fantastic, yet were too fatty to enjoy fully. Some constructive feedback: The cauliflower was a major disappointment; it needed additional time on the grill and more sauce to boot. I felt the barrata should have included one extra pair of crustinis. The apricot mostarda was divine, though. They don't carry a sour beer, so my partner and I did not partake. All in all, Fall Line Kitchen was a lovely experience, and our server Satya was a pleasure as well. As we exited, the kind host offered to take our picture in front of the light-wrapped columns. What a gentleman. I definitely recommend bringing a date here to enjoy the cozy, intimate setting, as you gaze lovingly into one anothers eyes, take in the exceptional views, and experience all that its surroundings offer.
