Amazing staff, very clean and steps from the beach. Restaurants, bikes, and other fun stuff to do at the resort. I stayed in two different rooms and neither of them ever cooled off. That was my only complaint.

The Sheraton Coconut Beach is a lovely hotel. The beds are super comfortable and the cleaning staff does a great job making the beds and making the rooms feel cozy. It is within walking distance to an ABC store which was our kids favorite part. Now the negatives, the bar drinks are not very strong, and the lanai's are very small. We paid for an ocean view room and you can only see the ocean if you stand in the very corner or our tiny lanai. Overall it is a great hotel for families.

Stayed here for the first two nights of our stay on Kauai, and I'm so glad we did! The aloha hospitality, ocean views, and poolside atmosphere were the perfect welcome. Since we only stayed a couple nights, we didn't have the chance to try any of the on-site dining, but there are tons of great options nearby. There is even a drugstore within walking distance that was super helpful in purchasing forgotten toiletries and snacks. Our only negatives were the loud A/C at night, and the fact that the resort fees did not include all the activities on property. Based on the proximity to the shoreline, and the great amenities, the Sheraton Coconut Beach is likely your best option for the east side of the island!

We stayed at Sheraton Coconut Beach Resort for 4 nights to celebrate our anniversary, and it truly felt special from the moment we arrived. The welcome was so thoughtful -- we were greeted with beautiful leis, a box of cookies, and complimentary champagne. When we walked into our room, they had decorated the bed with towel swans and spelled out "Happy Anniversary." It was such a sweet touch and made the trip feel even more memorable. The property itself is beautiful. We really enjoyed the complimentary bicycles, and the pool and jacuzzi were both relaxing and well maintained. It was the perfect place to unwind. On our last night, the AC went out in the entire building, which was obviously unexpected. But the staff handled it the best they could -- they brought fans to help keep us comfortable and were very kind and communicative about the situation. They also gave us complimentary 2pm late checkout, which we appreciated so much, and they held our bags securely until 6pm when we came back before heading to our next stay. That flexibility made our travel day much smoother. It's definitely not an inexpensive stay -- there are daily resort fees and self-parking fees -- but the staff truly make it worth it. Everyone we interacted with was welcoming and accommodating. I also appreciated being able to get free hot water for my thermos at the coffee shop every morning without any issue. Overall, we had a really lovely experience and felt very well taken care of. We'd absolutely stay here again.

The shower in our room (#438) was permeated with mold inside and outside the shower. The toilet hinges were also permeated with mold. We complained 2 times to no avail. Management at the hotel has not responded to email correspondence. Our letter sent to Corporate has not been responded to. a disgusting and nauseating experience. we will never stay at a Marriott Bonvoy hotel again.

Pool area. Small pool. Pray for not to many screaming kids.

Checked in for our staycation/vacation. Got a upgrade to beach front. Check in was quick and efficient. I always was curious about these beach front units. Entered and did my usual room inspection. Clean! Did the bed inspection, pass! Bathroom, clean. No bugs, no hairs, etc. No leaks, mold etc. Impressive! Wifi works well. Like our room, very peaceful and right on the beach. A/C world great, bed comfortable. Used the pool today, water was nice. Pool is small, luckily not to much kids. More lucky to find lounge chairs available for us. Pool side service was attentive. We've stayed here many times before. Only thing I wish they had a spa for massages, it would be perfect.

Such a great place to escape to. Love is in the air.

I want to thank Virgi and the staff at the Sheraton Coconut Kauai. There's something so inviting and inspiring spending time at this resort. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable, clean and convenient. The surroundings are perfection. I've returned to spend time where my partner and I spent several vacations before his passing this last year. I knew I had to return. I knew it would feel welcoming even though it's an emotional time in my life. This trip made me realize this is something I can do on my own and I don't have to feel sad. There's just something special about the island and this resort is the perfect place to capture the essence of Kauai. I am so grateful to be able to spend time there. Besides Virgi I would like to thank Lissa, Bernadette and Char. Also, a young man at the front desk whose name I don't remember. Everyone was really kind and helpful.

This location isn't the better of the ones on the island. While it isn't in shambles, it isn't in the best of shape. The bathrooms were actually pretty poorly remodeled and left something to be desired. The beach is pretty limited, not a lot of space to hang out. Pretty pricy for what you get, the current rating is 3.8 stars and I'd say that's accurate. Staff was more about what they couldn't do for us and not really accommodating. We are Bonvoy Members and it meant absolutely nothing!!! For instance, check out is 11 and you cannot check in until 4. So you have a lot of time where you paid for a hotel Room and cannot use it. We asked for late check out (our flight wasn't until 10:30 that night) and the kind young gentleman said he could let us have 11:30. When we got to our room there was a notice we had til 10 am to be out because the exterminator would be treating the room. Restaurant and bars are pretty good, but pricy! The breakfast buffet is $35/pp and you can get a pretty good breakfast. The coffee bar onsite is good and the staff friendly. Again, not bad, but not great for the money. Feel like hospitality died of COVID and you're a number at most hotels. Sheraton used to be special, but pretty much just another money grab.

    Blacklight on bedding (3)

While the staff at this hotel are beyond lovely and try to go above and beyond for their guests, we, unfortunately, did not have the best experience at this hotel due to the uncleanliness of the room. I travel with a blacklight and we spent the better part of two hours throughout our trip trying to secure clean sheets - only detectable via a blacklight (see attached videos). We had a few other cleanliness issues such as bugs that were there upon check-in and went unaddressed for the duration of our 5-night stay, as well as random water leakage from out faucet for 2 nights. But the bedding was the most concerning. Please watch these videos. We were absolutely disgusted by the stains we discovered. Especially for the money paid! Again, the staff responded well, bringing multiple sets to our room until we found sets that weren't stained. They are fantastic. Otherwise, we had a nice time - pool scene, while busy, was nice and the location is fantastic with direct beach access.

Great 5 day experience--beautiful courtyard & coffee every morning. Staff & concierge were helpful, just watch out for "gifts" left by birds in the parking lot!

Kind of surprised at some of the reviews which seem very harsh. We had a great time during our stay. It's one of the few times I will say the room looked better in person than it did online. Staff was extremely friendly. Everyone treated us fantastic. Pool was great and beach access. Had great options for food. I liked that this resort was not as massive as some others near by. I would for sure stay again.

Ask the Community - Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort

What are the amenities in the room? Fridge? Microwave?

Refrigerator, no microwave. There's also a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. They have microwaves on every floor where the vending machines and ice makers are.

Do they have a laundry room?

Yes, every other floor. They also leave detergent in your closet.

    Do the rooms have kitchens?

No kitchens. Beautiful property with a great staff though.

What is the deepest they have in the pool?

I was able to do swim laps in the pool every morning but I believe the pool was approximately no more than 4 feet. They also have a separate kids pool that is about one foot deep.

Walking in to the lobby felt like we were at a premium resort and definitely put us in the right mood. There's a bar and Hukilau Lanai right in the lobby. You can make reservations through Open Table for the restaurant. There's no valet that I saw when we pulled up or a bellboy to help with your bags. Or at least, I didn't see one or ask for one. The check-in process was normal, but after checking in, you are directed to go see the Concierge. I waited a good 15 minutes just to find out that since I'm a member, he doesn't have access to my account and was asked to come back in the morning to talk to someone that does. I wish that all Shell properties would stop this practice altogether. It's already enough that we spent hours traveling to this beautiful property and want to get to our rooms to unwind and freshen up. We do not have time to sit through some kind of pitch. Because I didn't see the Concierge the next morning, they sent me a text and also placed a door tag on my door to remind me to come see them. First off, you're on vacation and do not want to spend an hour or two sitting through some kind of pitch or upsell. I don't know what the point of the wristbands was for, besides not having to carry the room key with you, it was pointless. So I would ignore going to the Concierge altogether. I don't know what was in the Welcome package and didn't want to fall in to that trap, so I just ignored having to go see the Concierge. The property grounds had 1 large pool, 2 smaller 1.5' deep pools and a jacuzzi. There were also a couple of grills and a bar by the pool, which was great. And I saw them being used throughout our stay. There's a nice walkway to other properties or to the beach. Unfortunately, there's no beach access right on the property. Parking was free and you didn't have to hang any parking permit on the car. One big drawback is that there are no elevators. So you'll have to lug all of your items up the stairs. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had our luggage and stuff we bought at Costco. I wished they would have turned on the A/C in the hallways to help with the heat. It was stuffy by the time we got to the top floor. Luckily, the A/C in our room was working well. Our suite was nice and big with all of the amenities needed for our stay. We even did some laundry on our last day and there were 2 packs of detergent provided. We had bath & pool towels in the room. WiFi was just ok, it wasn't the fastest being at 20mbps up and down. It's fine for 2 people, but could bog down with more devices. One of the best things about this location is it's right across the street from the Coconut Marketplace. You'll be able to find pretty much anything you need there. We stopped by here on our way out to Waimea Canyon and also picked up dinner at the store in the deli area. Was also able to grab some souvenirs and shopping on our last day. We've only stayed at Poipu our last 2 visits, but would definitely come back here again. If you decide to come here, ignore going to the Concierge please and don't believe that you need to get their wristbands. We were able to walk around the property and nobody stopped us.

Parking is easy and convenient, and the Coconut Marketplace with ABC store within walking distance really made this location awesome with easy access to shops, grocery, and food. We really missed the convenience later in the trip at another resort. Downtown Kapaa is also a short drive or walk away. The lack of elevators is a major downside at this location, however. For our party, staying three floors up with no elevators was inconvenient but doable, but for others it could be impossible so please be aware and call ahead if this is an issue for you. I did hear that the resort will be undergoing a renovation soon, and I sincerely hope elevators are a priority.

It has all of the requisite HGI necessities such as clean, standardized rooms, available breakfast made to order, and a price point that does not break the bank compared to big resorts on Kaua'i. I had a comfortable stay here with easy parking, a comfortable room, and good wi-fi. It doesn't hurt that you can see the ocean from some rooms and that the property grounds have some unexpected nice touches such as a koi pond water feature, a spacious airy lobby open to the outside, and easy self parking for a fee. In this genre of Hilton portfolio hotel, it hits a bit above its expected weight. What keeps it in the 4-star range (instead of 5) is its location. It is relatively near Lihue and the airport (about a 12-15 min drive) but far from any of the major resort spots that Kaua'i is really known for (like Poipu or Princeville). Its location is just a couple of minutes drive outside of Kapa'a and if you are not looking for a high end vacation resort experience, this will suffice as a place to lay your head with confidence while helping you respect a moderate budget. It is not cheap by most HGI standards but it is reasonable by local Kaua'i lodging standards. A rental car is a must if you choose to stay here because there really is nothing around you within easy or safe walking distance. That is a problem if you are here to be a tourist and see some sights and places that The Garden Isle is known for. It is this location that keeps the pricing here down but the inconvenience factor high. I liked this property for what it was and I would stay here again if my reason for coming to Kaua'i was for anything other than a higher end resort experience. I'm sure there are even cheaper places to stay on this island but then again, I don't think that the Salvation Army has a loyalty program or a koi pond.

Check-in took awhile, but the front desk people were super friendly and provided us a complimentary bottle of wine when they heard that we were staying for our honeymoon. Daily housekeeping is apparently not offered, but we did ask that fresh towels be provided daily. This request was hit or miss, and we often found ourselves needing to go to the front desk to ask for a change in towels the next day. The room itself is surprisingly spacious and clean, although older and dated. It was quite amazing to wake up to the sight of the beautiful Pacific Ocean right outside our patio window every morning. Although the waters on this side of the island were not protected and too rough for us to think about jumping into the ocean safely. We were told that seals and sea turtles would occasionally make their way onto the beach, however this was apparently more of a rare sighting and never materialized during our stay. We actually just wound up going to Poipu most evenings to see the sea turtles come in to rest on the beach. There is a DVD machine near the front desk where you can rent movies for free. And a Playstation in the room to watch the DVD's with. However, the dual shock controller definitely had taken a lot of abuse and would just rumble randomly whenever the power was turned on. And most of the buttons either did not work or would only work sporadically. There are no elevators here, despite the various buildings being at least 3 stories tall. We wound up having a 2nd floor room and found ourselves hauling all of our heavy luggage up multiple flights of stairs. If you are elderly or disabled, you should definitely request a 1st floor room. Additionally, they do not have any real lighting on the outdoor common areas that connect the rooms with the front foyer. Instead, there are just the small, garden solar lights stuck into the ground along the paved path. This is honestly quite a safety issue as the area is literally pitch black at night as you're either leaving the property or coming back. With only the small lights on the floor to guide your way while you hope you don't trip over any cracks or unseen objects. The hotel has a large, private parking lot that is shared with the nearby businesses on the same property lot. However despite the large amount of parking spots, we constantly found ourselves needing to circle the lot looking for a free spot whenever we returned back later at night. We suspect that some locals may be using their parking lot for temporary/long-term parking, as we did see a few vehicles that had multiple tickets on the windshield during our stay with warnings of towing due to abandonment. Despite the tickets/warnings, we did not see any of these vehicles actually towed during our entire stay here. Despite the issues outlined above, we did overall enjoy our stay here. And would recommend this property if you're looking for a slightly more affordable option than many of the high-end resorts that dot this island.

The hotel grounds were stunning, with a beautiful pool area and lush surroundings. And those chickens? They were everywhere! A fun surprise for a first-timer like me. We had a garden-facing room on the third floor that still offered a decent ocean view. The room was a bit dated, but I loved having a little kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink. Plus, the DVD rental in the lobby was a nice touch since every room has a DVD player. There were a few surprises, like no elevator, so lugging our bags up three flights was a workout. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we got two free drink tickets for the Tiki Bar, which made the wait more enjoyable. However, the Wi-Fi in our room was spotty, and there wasn't much help available. Luckily, I managed to hop onto the neighbor's Wi-Fi to stream Netflix, though the local TV never worked, which was a bit of a bummer. The early morning rooster calls were definitely new for me, but I came to appreciate them as part of the island charm. Parking was tricky if we got back late, but on the bright side, the location was fantastic. We could walk to the Coconut Marketplace, and the vouchers and coupons we received were a nice perk. Overall, despite some hiccups, the beautiful island setting and friendly service made my stay memorable.

We have stayed in Princeville, like 6-7 times in the past, and I think we'll go back to Princeville in the future. Honestly, I don't think I'd waste my time going back to that resort.

Every person we encountered over our stay felt like longtime friends. The Hotel itself is very modern and beautiful. Although the resort itself had everything to offer, when we did leave the staff had taken the time to learn our names and offer wonderful advice on pls to visit. Our time spent at the Bar getting to know Kolo was even more rewarding, He was an amazing host and took care of us above and beyond. We left with an incredible experience and a new Friendship that we will cherish forever! Thank You Kolo and 1 Hotel. We highly recommend staying here on your visit to Kauai.

What separates an exceptional hotel from the rest is its people and the culture they create. During our stay, we experienced that culture over and over again. Trent at Reception set the tone from the moment we arrived. Each day he made a point of asking how our stay was going and whether Michele or I needed anything. Those conversations never felt scripted. They felt genuine, personal, and reflective of someone who truly cared that our experience exceeded expectations. One interaction, however, perfectly captured what hospitality is supposed to be. While waiting at the hostess stand at Welina Terrace, I noticed Kevin from the Bell Desk walking by with a luggage cart. He stopped, asked if he would be of assistance, and I mentioned that we had purchased a beautiful bottle of Red Burgundy earlier in the day and were hoping to borrow two Pinot Noir glasses to enjoy it in our room. Less than two minutes later--probably no more than 90 seconds--Kevin arrived at our door carrying two proper Pinot Noir glasses. Even better, Robbie, the bartender, had thoughtfully included two generous pours of wine so we would not have to wait before enjoying the bottle. Kevin smiled and said they were "on the house." Later, I went downstairs to thank Robbie personally. His response was memorable: he said he simply could not, in good conscience, send ordinary glasses to a guest enjoying a fine Burgundy. Folks, this is the kind of story you read about in hospitality books. If you've read my recent reviews of 1 Kitchen and Welina Terrace, you'll notice this wasn't an isolated experience. It's the culture of this property. Every interaction reinforced the same commitment to thoughtful, anticipatory service. Managers Martin and Imelda deserve recognition as well. They are professional, approachable, visible throughout the property, and genuinely invested in both their guests and their team. Leadership like that creates an environment where employees feel empowered to deliver memorable experiences rather than simply complete transactions. This was our first stay at a 1 Hotel, and it certainly won't be our last. The spectacular setting of Hanalei Bay is unforgettable, but it is the people who transformed a beautiful vacation into an extraordinary one. Thank you to Trent, Kevin, Robbie, Martin, Imelda, and everyone else who made our stay so memorable. You have earned loyal guests.

We loved our 2bedroom villa, while we had plenty of space the property itself is small enough that walking anywhere doesn't feel like a chore. Here is where we fall off and don't quite hit the 5 stars. Our villa was super clean. Toilets weren't fully cleaned upon arrival and they definitely didn't do a better job during our stay. The couch and blankets had a few mystery stains that grossed me out. Cocktails and the restaurant are insanely expensive. We are talking 28 dollars for a cocktail. Additionally the staff member Nancy (pool attendant) was rude to me. I wasn't able to locate a dry chair in the sun at 4pm. so I asked an employee for permission to use a chair near the cabana. Permission was granted but she wasn't happy about it. So asked me to move, while I didn't have issue with moving I did find it rather unprofessional of her to yell at me for not reading the sign and while she offered to help me when I asked to a dry chair on the sun she walked away ranting about my lack of awareness. To make matters worse the same employee had a separate issue with my husband in reguarda to pool towels. When I tried to address it with the front they weren't very helpful. All in all we did have a great week there and hope to go back.

It's an open restaurant with no doors and being steps from the beach it should've been breezy, especially New Year's Day. They had fans over head but were not using them. I asked if they could turn them on and the lady said she would and never did. That was horrible. Trapped heat and me do not agree. The other thing is the bathroom. It's in the hotel and when asking where it was, I was told "that way" with a point. I went that way and entered the first doors but those were the hotel rooms. I left and went in the next doors and there they were. There was no sign. The "that way" direction was not helpful besides knowing which way not to walk. I've been to a few luaus and they usually split up the different islands in dance and it's apparent. Here, I was lost. It felt rushed and the story didn't -- well ?what story? Really. It was still a wonderful night. We celebrated my son getting engaged that day. Nothing could've killed our night. There is another one on Kauai that is more authentic. I forget which one since it was in 2012 when we went but it was amazing. One thing that was very disappointing was being steps away from the beach yet no viewing of the pig being unearthed. That's a huge part of the luau experience and that was the biggest disappointment. My sister, nephew and (now) daughter-in-law had never been and we were excited for them to see it.

We booked a week at Mele Kai (March 11-18) for two families, including kids, one of whom was celebrating a birthday on the island. Nearly $8,000. On March 10, with a massive Kona storm bearing down on Kauai, we reached out to Garden Island Properties to discuss our options. Our VRBO messages went unanswered. Our phone call went unanswered. When we finally got a text response, they told us the rain is what gives Kauai its nickname "The Garden Island" and suggested we bring "a flexible plan and rain gear." We weren't being difficult. We wrote back and told them we weren't opposed to being rained on -- our concern was flooding, loss of power, or being stuck on the island. I asked them directly: "Will my family be safe during this massive storm in your place?" Their response? They told us, "I don't mean to downplay the news coverage, but this is fairly typical winter weather for Kauai." They assured us the rental was "not located in a flood zone." Fairly typical winter weather. Not in a flood zone. Here's what actually happened: The Governor declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY. Roads in Poipu -- the exact neighborhood of this house -- were closed due to flooding. Ho'one Road and Ku'ai Road, right by this property, were shut down. The islands were hit with up to 44 inches of rain and 135-mph winds. Schools and government offices closed. Over 120,000 customers lost power across the state. Beaches were closed under brown water advisories warning of sewage overflow and hazardous bacteria. The Red Cross and Salvation Army mobilized relief efforts. Residents were evacuated into emergency shelters. So much for "fairly typical winter weather." So much for "not in a flood zone." And here's what makes it worse: the forecast they themselves included in their own message showed 90-100% chance of rain with thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 50 mph for EVERY SINGLE DAY of our trip. Their own evidence showed this was not typical. They sent it to us and still told us to come. We never made it to Kauai. We couldn't. It would have been dangerous and irresponsible to bring our families -- our kids -- into that situation. Garden Island Properties refused any refund. VRBO has been contacted twice by phone, was promised a resolution email both times, and as of this writing we've received nothing. $8,000. Gone. For a house we never stepped foot in, on an island we never reached, during a declared state of emergency that the property manager called "fairly typical." This is not a review about the weather. Nobody controls the weather. This is a review about a property management company that had every piece of information -- including their own forecast -- telling them this was a dangerous, historic storm, and they still chose to encourage a family with children to fly into it rather than do the right thing. I asked them point blank if my family would be safe. They couldn't even answer the question. They chose profit over safety. Period. If you are considering booking with Garden Island Properties, understand this: when things go wrong -- and in Hawaii, weather can go very wrong -- this company will not have your back. They will take your money, send you a canned aloha, and wish you luck.
