We had an excellent stay at the Sheraton Universal Hotel! The location is perfect for visiting Universal Studios, and the hotel is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Before our arrival, I requested a room close to the elevator because my mom uses a walker. The hotel was very thoughtful and accommodated our request, which made our stay so much easier and more comfortable. We truly appreciated their kindness and attention to our family's needs. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional from check-in to check-out. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a great place to relax after a fun day at the park. We stayed at the Sheraton Universal because my daughter, her friend and my 9 year old and I were in town for Halloween Horror Nights. Overall, the hotel itself was nice, and there were definitely some things we appreciated. The shuttle service was extremely convenient, running every 15 minutes from 8 AM until 3 AM, which made getting to and from Universal very easy. The pool area was also nice, although I was disappointed that the pool was not heated. Another great perk was being able to leave our bags with the hotel after check-out, and our valet parking was available until 6 PM the following day, which was very convenient. Unfortunately, the room and the overall check-in experience really took away from the stay. I booked through Booking.com, and honestly, I couldn't help but feel that we were given one of the hotel's least desirable rooms because of it. We were traveling with my two daughters and my daughter's teenage friend, and we ended up in what felt like "the basement room." We had to walk down a set of stairs and then all the way to the back of the property. Yes, the room had a balcony, but the view was essentially of the parking lot. The basement area also had an unpleasant smell, and unfortunately, the guests next door were smoking marijuana. The smell seeped into our room even though our balcony door was closed. With three teenagers, that was especially unpleasant. I understand that booking through a third-party site may mean receiving a discounted rate, but our stay was still around $500, which is certainly not an insignificant amount of money. I don't expect special treatment because I booked through Booking.com, but I do expect to feel like I am receiving the same level of hospitality as any other paying guest. Instead, the room made me feel like we were being treated as second-class guests simply because we booked through a third party. The man who checked us in was also extremely robotic and impersonal. There was very little warmth or effort to make us feel welcomed. Honestly, the interaction felt like something an AI kiosk could have handled. I would stay in the area again because the location and shuttle service are excellent, but for the price we paid, I expected a much better room and a more welcoming experience. Sheraton Universal really needs to reconsider how third-party/Booking.com guests are treated. A discounted booking is still a paying customer, and guests shouldn't feel like they're being placed in the "reject" rooms because they didn't book directly. There were some very convenient amenities, but unfortunately, the room assignment and lack of welcoming service left me feeling that the $500 we spent was not worth the experience. read more

Cancelled at the last minute after even "mobile check‑in" - no real help, no respect. We booked a standard reservable rate at the Sheraton Universal Studios Hollywood for a stay around Memorial Day weekend, months in advance. Their policy was to charge our card by May 20, 2026 and no refund. We also had Marriott gift card being members we planned to use to pay for our reservation at check in. We assumed reservation was all good given we were able to check‑in through the Marriott app, which made us believe our reservation was secured and we were "already checked in" before arriving. At the last minute, after we had already started our trip driving 3 hours with our family, they cancelled our reservation and claimed they had sent a "courtesy notice" only an hour before our arrival via email, stating our method of payment had been denied. That is not a courtesy. They did not call us, did not attempt to let us correct or update the card, and did not give us a chance to pay with a new card or resolve the issue. We spoke to a David initially and knew something was wrong when he looked at our reservation even after telling him we checked in and was asking for our room being ready. He went to get Cobi Lara Director of Front Office. Given the situation I showed my frustration in a tactful tone as Cobi was already defensive and unhelpful on his approach to us. He acted as if this was normal, showed little to no apology, and offered almost no real help. When we pushed back and explained how unacceptable this was--especially on a Memorial Day weekend when the hotel and nearby area were sold out--the tone only changed after we made it very clear we were unhappy. Management later claimed they "thought we had cancelled our reservation" and had already given the room away, but this was never reflected in our account or communicated clearly to us. They seemed to prioritize re‑selling at a higher rate over honoring a guest reservation, even for Marriott Bonvoy members and elite guests. Their only "solution" was to tell us to book a hotel 15 minutes away, despite the fact that we were with family, had already ridden out to the Universal/Hollywood area, and were minutes from the theme park. They provided no coordinated alternative, no shuttle, no compensation, and no real sense of accountability. This experience was extremely unprofessional, poorly handled, and damaging to our plans. We felt like Marriott and the Sheraton Universal Studios Hollywood treated their members and customers with little respect, cancelling our reservation at the slightest opportunity just to push the room at a higher rate. We expect this to be escalated to Marriott corporate management and for a clear policy review: "mobile check‑in allowed" should not be misleading if the hotel can still cancel the reservation without a real attempt to contact the guest by phone or give a chance to correct the payment method. Marriott corporate needs to evaluate the customer service of this place. This particular location does need to dedicate professional training to the front desk staff, especially if the director is incapable of showing real courtesy, remedy and provide value to their members and to handle such situations better as well as the person helping me made things much worse and only changed his tone after understanding his mistake. read more

I really liked this hotel! We stayed here for our daughter's birthday and she wanted to go to Universal Studios. There's a bus that takes you there and picks you up! I love that! The hotel has a good restaurant! Very nice decor and people were very nice! The only flaw is that although we were in the 19th floor the street noise was very loud! They need to upgrade their windows! I didn't get to take pictures of the room which was a suite but it was very nice! read more

Sheraton Universal parking is convenient and feels safe, but only really makes sense if you're actually staying at the Sheraton. It's close enough to the regular Universal parking structures that, for day guests, there isn't much of an advantage with cost in mind. For hotel guests, it does what it's supposed to do: secure, straightforward parking with in-and-out tied to your room. It does get packed quickly as we were parked on level 3 even though we arrive pretty early. There's a hotel shuttle that runs regularly to the park, but it shares service with the Hilton, so the ride can be longer than you'd expect. If you're able-bodied and don't mind a bit of a hill, walking to the park is often just as fast or faster. I appreciate the little basket attached to the end of the shuttle for strollers as we did bring one. One note from my own experience (not an official policy, so treat this as anecdotal): I was able to leave my car in the lot after checking out and still exit later that night after a long park day without issues. We didn't stay all the way to closing, but it was pretty late. I couldn't get anyone to clearly confirm the rules around this, so keep that in mind and don't assume it will always work the same way. read more

We stayed here and thought it would be great being right next to universal studio. Let's start of by saying that the shuttle service to the park was great. I was not impressed with this hotel. Strong odor when you walk into the hotel. Like there were giant perfume plug ins everywhere. I told the dest, but they didn't seem to care. The line to the elevator was always packed, just to get to our room. The room was ok. But, the way they had the bathroom door was weird. It was almost see through and the light when turned on illuminated the whole room! Soooo, at night if someone used the rest room, it woke people up. We were also located next to the street side and it was noisy. A pretty pricey hotel, and I would not Recommend or stay here again. read more

TRASHY OR CLASSY? Totally TRASHY!!!! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE We reserved 2 nights here. We showed up at midnight!!!! They double booked our room! Then told us we only booked for 1 night. When we called the reservation agency they said something was wrong with our reservations and that something was changed immediately after we booked it earlier that day. So we had to drive 20 minutes away after midnight to find another hotel. Please beware of this hotel. I would not recommend. After going here for years they treat you like this. Great location close to the parks. The Sheraton is close enough to walk to the park but they also have a shuttle that picks up every fifteen minutes and drops you off at City Walk. The shuttle starts it's route at the Sheraton with a second stop at the Hilton up the hill. Parking structure is good but fills up quickly when there are events at the hotel. If parking is full they will find a place for your car whether it be the overflow lot or valet (for same cost of self parking). The rooms are nice, clean and a decent size. We prefer rooms on the Lanai level (less stairs and no need to wait for the elevators). They have certain rooms where you can add lounge access (and extra coat). The lounge is open for breakfast and has cereal, bagels, pastries, fruit and just light breakfast fair. They also serve evening appetizers (chips, dips and one to two hot apps). They serve beer and wine that can be charged to your room. The coffee machine makes varies hot coffees (americanos, lattes, ect) as well as hot cocoa. Longe is open 24/7 to go sit and watch TV or just to get away and the coffee machine is operational all the time and bottled water usually. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful and is always there with a warm welcome. The lobby bar is a must check out too. Great place to hang out and the staff is fabulous (plus they make great drinks). Food available as well so families are welcome, just not sitting at the bar of course. There is plenty of seating around though to eat, drink and hang out. The Sheraton is a great place to stay whether visiting the park, City Walk or even the local Hollywood area. It is close to the red line as well. read more

After booking I was a little worried reading some of the reviews, I'm very thankful we had a great experience! Being on site for universal and universal walk was so convenient and I'm very glad we didn't book off site. My partber is a Marriott bonvoy member, I am not sure if that improved our service, but everyone especially the valet people outside are extremely nice and don't have their noses turned up to guests. There was one younger lady at the reception desk that didn't smile or seem happy but oh well it didn't affect our stay in anyway. We have two autistic kids, and I am autistic myself, it can make traveling hard, but fortunately that was not the case at this hotel. We had a Lanai room on the 8th floor, and stayed for four days. There are three elevators near the lobby and we didn't run into any lines or issues. The room service and housekeeping ladies are very sweet and kind. You don't have to worry about ever having a dirty room or unclean linens. They even made a cute little bed for my daughters stuffed animals. Beds are comfortable and so are the pillows. I only wish the water pressure was better, but again it did not affect our stay. We couldn't hear anyone on the floor above us or much in the hallways. Maybe we got lucky that there were no conferences, regardless We will be staying here again on our next trip to universal. read more

My dance team and their significant others came here for a Bachata dance event over Valentine's weekend. First, we were forced to eat outside in the cold, which we could tolerate. But when my group of 8+ dancers and friends wanted to sit together to enjoy each other's company and the tacos, the staff insisted we separate the unused tables and yelled at us as if we were doing something wrong. This is an overpriced hotel with rude service. There was no reason to be yelled at by staff who clearly lack customer service skills or basic manners. We just wanted to enjoy our time together, but instead, we were treated like we were stealing. We couldn't even move tables without being reprimanded. Went to the Sheraton club lounge for breakfast with my girls. The place is very clean and spacious. They had fresh fruit available and lots of pastry options. Albino welcomed us into the lounge. He walked us to our table. He was very friendly and accommodating. The food was great. The bacon ran out but Angie was so quick to notice and replaced the bacon right away. They have good bacon. Perfectly crisped :) They have an espresso machine as well. It was my first time making my own coffee with their coffee machine so I asked one of their servers and Mary helped me out.
