I've eaten here several times, but the quality of the food has gone downhill over the last couple of years while the prices go up. Recent visit was most disappointing dinner experience with bland flavor combinations and a dish described as pasta shells and cheese that surprisingly included a side of meatballs - ordered by a vegetarian. Service is consistently good and the atmosphere (including a confortable and relaxing outdoor patio) is very appealing - better food would give people a reason to visit the south side. read more

Went to Sheridan's for Mother's Day Brunch. Good food, but slow service. We sat for close to 10 minutes with 2 toddlers without any waitstaff approaching then had to ask a busboy to send our waiter. Our waiter was nice enough, but we still had to flag him down a couple of more times. He also forgot items for our toddlers, didn't know the Kids Menu well which cause him to bill an item wrong. We had a great breakfast at Sheridan's!! The home-made Corned Beef Hash was of wonderful quality and execution and the Oatmeal pancakes were moist and tasty. Coffee was also very good!! Especially the small "extras" such as real warm(!) maple syrup, rock sugar, and warm plates were much appreciated. Service was quick, attentive and very accommodating. The interior is contemporary and clean, nice china/silverware, and bathrooms were luxurious (cloth hand towels and L'Occitane soap). Prices were adequate for the quality. I went to Sheridan's on Friday night with my family. For a place with such good reviews I would have expected better. The atmosphere is really nice. Very beautiful decor but with horrible lighting. I had to hold my menu at odd angles just to read it. Our server was nice, it seemed he did the best he could considering that it seemed that everyone else was just standing around chatting. We had to wait awhile for our drinks to be refilled. It took awhile for our food to come out and our waiter gave us a basket of chips because there was "a long ticket ahead of us". We just assumed that he forgot to put in our order since I have family that has worked in the service industry. The food was not all that great. The appetizer was small for a $6 bowl of chips. Someone from my party ordered the meatloaf which was undercooked. My chicken was okay, but If we are going to be paying $16 for a meal I expect it to be better. The prices of the meals are WAY to expensive. The prices for drinks seemed about average. ($3.25 maybe $3.75 for a beer, $6 for a margarita) I don't plan on going back ever again. First off, I've written maybe 3 bad reviews in my lifetime including this one. My husband and I have given this place a fair shot because it's near our home but it has consistently disappointed. Tonight's meals will most certainly be our last. DO NOT ever get take-out. It will always be slop, no matter what you order and nothing about the meals is ever consistent when ordered to go. Baked cod on fish fry friday: tiny portion, shoe leather, no seasoning whatsoever. Perch: 4 teeny pieces of fish, each about the size of my husband's finger and an eighth of an inch thick (no joke). Cod Fish Fry: just ok. Omelettes: tasty but SKIMPY. I'm a petite gal and they've always left me wishing I'd have added a few more eggs. They state it's a 3 egg omelette but I don't buy that...must be pretty small eggs. So order at least two extra eggs but be prepared to pay an arm & a leg. Steak & Eggs: very small portion of terribly bland steak. Pancakes: ALWAYS uncooked in the middle. Chicken salad sandwich: delicious, when it's fresh. Packer Pile Up: looked like vomit on a platter and was so overly salted it was barely edible. Bakery items (i.e. Lavender cookies, truffles, etc): again, delicious when fresh. The coffee always tastes burnt. The only menu items we've thoroughly and consistently enjoyed are the South Shore Burger and the house made potato chips. Perfectly seasoned beef patty, the bun is incredible and whatever they sprinkle on the chips is a winning combination. Do yourself a favor though, order the burger cooked medium or it will be charred to a crisp. I gave Sheridan's 3 stars instead of 2 because the waitstaff has always been genuinely friendly, the place is clean and the bathroom immaculate. I've eaten at Sheridan's twice now, on Sundays after church. (Be aware, it might be difficult to get a table at that time without a reservation). The setting is very nice, with an attractive dining room and an open air patio. They have heating units on the patio for marginally cool days. The food is very good and the service is exeptional. The staff is friendly and well trained. The people who dined with me had developed a friendship with the server over several visits - and that has become unusual now-a-days. Sheridan's is a nice enough venue for special occasions but also priced reasonably enough for a spontaneous meal out. Highly recommended. read more

Had a very good brunch today at sheridans. Friendly greeting, nice looking French brasserie look and feel - very clean. Excellent food. Had the eggs Benedict which were perfectly cooked with nice sautéed spinach and served over some great rustic bread rather than an English muffin. Excellent mimosa. Server forgot an order of homemade chips and after we cancelled it she was nice enough to bring us an order to go. Everyone makes mistakes, and she more than made up for it. Good place. I had a very disappointing breakfast here and was quite surprised given that I've been here plenty of times before and always enjoyed the food. I ordered the tomato, basil, feta omlette with breakfast potatoes and cranberry walnut toast. I recall many of their omlettes in the past being fluffy and flavorful. This omlette was not even remotely close to what they once served. This was nothing more than a flat egg garnished with cold chopped tomatoes, chopped basil and a few crumbles of cold feta. Seriously???? The potatoes were clearly from the freezer and warmed. They even had that freezer-burned taste to them. I was very disappointed and was not in the mood for complaining, so I ate the meal and figured it will be my last breakfast at Sheridans. I have heard so many amazing things about this place, and have driven past it for years. Today I finally stopped in for brunch.... the food was good, the service left much to be expected. We sat down at 1210pm. After 7 mins someone came and dropped off water, but did not it say a word to us. 15 mins later I asked the host where are server was. She disappeared and our server came over 3 mins later, took our drink order, told us the specials and disappeared. 17 mins later, and getting a little impatient I stopped the host again and asked for a manager. Magically the server reappeared with our drinks and to take our order. No manager ever showed up (which I half expected). At one point out drinks are empty, our server stops at the table next to our to ask if they would like dessert (but did not acknowledge our empty drinks). I walked to the bar to get 2 more drinks myself, the bartender told me they were on the house because she heard we waited awhile (which just solidifies the fact that everyone knows we have been there a while ). I get back and our food has just arrived. Like i said food was good. We get done, no dessert is offered, and our bill comes out with in a minute of him collecting our plates. Funny the fastest thing we got was the bill. I have been in the restaurant industry for 20 years, I am actually a general manager of a restaurant myself. I am aware of my surroundings, and accepted the fact the that my server once he arrived at our table had a table of 6 people for what appeared to be a baby shower. I am understanding of that. But I also am aware of the restaurant business to staff ratio this should have never happended. Please work on communication and team work. Had someone acknowledged the fact that we were there, ran out drinks he rang in for us. ( that sat at the bar for God knows how long) , or the server for one second took a moment to apologize to us for our wait (yes there was no recognition from him at all that we waited 25 mins to out in a drink order) none of this would have ever happened. Altogether i was in this restaurant to 1 hour and 40 mins for eggs, toast, and bacon, and an order of bisquits and gravey. That being said I will probably not be back. Our bill was $48 for two entrees and 2 drinks. I don't mind spending good money for a dining experience, but I do have a problem with the fact that it was not acknowledge the amount of time i waited, nor did a manager ever come over after requested. 54yo Oak Creek'r and never been to this place but passed it many a time. Totally different then what I expected inside. As others said it does not seem to fit into the heavy working class area. Staff is all young but like they are all on Happy Pills, smiles n friendliness permeates. Good bacon strips, rosemary roasted potatoes were delicious and the over medium eggs were actually browned on top and I was very impressed. Everybody had different items and everybody was happy, kinda went with the atmosphere. Our waiter was Mitchel and as another reviewer said he was in tune. They do not do dinner. My coworker and I ended up here by accident yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised when I walked in. What a very cute place. I had the steak sandwich, and it was really good. The cheese that they put in the steak sandwich was just delicious, and added such a nice touch to the sandwich. The homemade chips were delicious also. It was a little bit more than we were looking to spend for a quick lunch, but it was delicious. I signed up as a yelper to write a review about this place. It was so good. It was SOOO GOOD. It's a week later and I can still remember the deliciousness. Okay, how does this work? First, what we ordered. NO! First, three of us walked in and were greeted by a very nice hostess who seated us right away. About 2 minutes later we were greeted by a very nice waiter who told us all about the specials. But we didn't order the specials. We ordered filet. All three of us. But first, we had the warm winter bruschetta. I recommend this appetizer. It's a great balance of flavors. The goat cheese tasted super fresh and was all sorts of creamy. I'm not sure I would order it next time, but that's only because I would want to try something new. But you should try it. Do it now! The filet was very soft textured, perfectly cooked medium rare, pepper-crusted, with a little buttery, silky sauce (béarnaise? It tasted like béarnaise). With little fingerling potatoes and bacon roasted brussel sprouts. It was worth it just for the sprouts! Finished it off with a glass of wine, which was also delicious. Looking back I wish we all would have ordered different items - sampled more of the menu. The place is sort of sweet looking. Like a French pub. I would expect more people to have been there as good as the food was. There were many empty tables even though it was 8pm on a Saturday. Maybe people just need to know it's here? All in all, the only complaint I could possibly have is that our waiter didn't know anything about the wines. Other than that, it's a great spot. We will definitely be going back! read more

I had been going to Sheridan's for a while with my parents and husband. I have celiac disease so going somewhere with gluten free pancakes is always a plus. I went with my husband and mother for brunch, ordered pancakes but they came out very under done. I told the waitress who brought out a new set. The new set was also no more than batter so again I sent it back. Once getting a set that was done, they were great. Thinking that this had happened a while ago, my parents and I attempted to go again this past Sunday. I again ordered my pancakes. Sadly they were batter in the middle. I told the waitress who gave me new set saying the head chief made them this time. The first bite had a ball of powder mix in it, the rest of them tasted like baked corn meal. As my parents had already finished eating, rather than say they were still not edible I said they were okay. I ate a few more bites and left the rest. After two times of not knowing how to prepare gluten free items it might be wise not to put it on the menu. read more

I went to Sheridan's on Saturday night for dinner with my family. I was told when I called to make reservations that they were having a private party in the back and that they would be serving in the front dining area- this is fine as I've been there before for breakfast and its nice in the front room. I have to say that I was VERY disappointed in the service and the food on Saturday night. I understand that they had a private party but REALLY? Our server was extremely daft. She must have also been serving the private party because she took AGES to take our drink order, then once we FINALLY ordered our appetizers she then served us the wrong items telling us "well I guess the chef just threw whatever he wanted on the grill." I'm a vegetarian and we ordered the Veggie Empanadas and Cheese Quesadillas- when they came to the table they were both filled with meat! Waitress didn't seem to care. Took about 20 minutes to come back to take our dinner orders. The dinner was VERY low grade. My father and boyfriend ordered the Pork Medallions which looked good and were supposed to come with " FETA POTATO PANCAKES" which sounded very good. We all basically laughed at what was served- they literally hasd ZERO potatoes in then and NO Feta, tasted exactly like a pancake you would get with breakfast. The food was very disappointing. I've had breakfast there before and expected the dinner to be just as nice. NO WAYYYYY. I WOULD NOT go back there again for dinner. EVER. read more

The food here is very special with unusual treats. I had the pecan caramel french toast which was to die for. I also had the chef's version of eggs benedict which was to die for. The mueslix is delicious and very filling. We had breakfast here 3 days and lunch once and each time our meal was wonderful! The price was right too. We've lived in Cudahy for almost a year and just now made our way to Sheridan's and we're so glad we did! We were greeted with a smile and we're seated immediately, and the service was amazing the entire time we were there. We had a Bloody Mary and mimosa and both were great. My boyfriend has the biscuits and gravy and they were amazing as well. Luis was our server and he was very kind and attentive! The restaurant itself is classy and well done, but it's a very comfortable atmosphere. We will definitely be frequent customers now! read more

I went for Sunday brunch with my mother and brother. We three are no easy crowd to please. The coffee was excellent (Alterra), the plate du jour was very good, and the service was quite good as well. I should and would of given 1 star. The atmosphere was great for a Sunday brunch . We were seated promptly the place was about 1/2 full . We sat outside. No water no waiter no silverware . We waited 10-15 min before the waiter came to announce that he was having water prepared for us ....really . Then he took our Bloody Mary order and left for 10 more min.in return for two weeks substandard bloody Mary's and he must've been putting the finishing touches on the water because there was none. Five minutes later he returned with water,took our order. 15 minutes later the food came out only one problem we had no utensils or napkins to eat with . There is no asking if we wanted to refill on the water for the bloody Mary's. As the food was presented I took two bites of it and my girlfriend looked at a nice curly hair on my plate of previously decent food with a decent presentation.The waiter was nowhere to be found probably grooming is scraggly beard and hair which I'm sure was done over my plate earlier. I found a hostess in the patio area and asked her to give my waiter she said absolutely went inside ....five minutes later The waiter asks and how is everything. I said the first two bites were delicious I went to take a third ...there's a little problem .... I pointed it out to him discreetly the hair most likely from his beard witch I did not state.he exclaimed oh that's never happened before.to the plate and said he would get me a new one no off for a drink no offer for that I'm very sorry.The whole waiting game on and on the second meal which I could barely eat because Of the obvious follicular incident.....through waiting on a check and not checking with us again how things were going...I went and spoke with the manager and got even angrier epic attitude and a half assed taking six dollars off my ticket their meal for a hair I guess they charge extra for those. This was an all around, cool experience. This restaurant is beautifully decorated. It feels like I stepped on to the set of a black and white detective movie, set in the 1920's. There are cafe tables split across two dining rooms, an outdoor eating area and a bar seating area. The food is extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. The homemade chips are served with malt vinegar and ranch dressing. They are dusted with some cheese and seasoning, and the fact that they are freshly cooked to order, and still served a little warm, puts them over the top. The Margherita pizza is very simple, but absolutely delicious. The crust is made from scratch and is cracker thin. The cheese, basil and tomatoes are perfectly seasoned and they represent the highest quality. The turkey and lingonberry sandwich was also very good. There was fresh basil and baby spinach, with a light drizzle of lingonberry jam. The turkey was a far cry from deli meat, it was carved turkey. Simple and delicious! They have a Sunday brunch and have a full bar. read more

My first experience at Sheridan's will be my last. Called mid week to make a reservation for 4 people at 7 pm. Arrived at 7 pm to find no reservation for us. The hostess asked us to sit at the "bar" (very small) until she could work something out. While at the bar 3 of us ordered mixers and 1 ordered a beer. The hostess came back and said that her 6:30 pm group didn't show, so we could have their table. The bartender put our drinks on our tab, so at this point we had no clue on drink costs. The hostess told us it may take sometime to be served food, due to a wedding reception going on there. After a while our server did come and take our orders. 3 of us ordered the fish fry combo and one ordered pork marsala. It took awhile for our food to arrive so we all ordered another drink, so 3 more mixers and 1 more beer. Once the food arrived, we noticed that one of the fish fry combos wasn't a combo but just a cod plate. We called the server over and he said that he would go order the remaining combo pieces. Well by the time the remaining pieces showed up everyone was done eating. Food was just OK. Our server was nice, but seemed distracted and at times somewhat annoyed. The atmosphere was outstanding, although the dining area was loud and a bit cramped. The real shocker came when we got our bill and paid $9 per mixer. $18 for my two drinks. Enjoyed a Saturday morning brunch with my traveling son who had a layover and was close in proximity to the airport. What a great find! It was a lovely summer morning so we sat on the patio which was nicely appointed and offered seating with or without umbrellas for shade. The service was prompt and friendly, from the hostess to the wait staff. Both my son and I ordered variations on Eggs Benedict, mine with pulled pork and poached egg over polenta. It was yummy. I also had a side of crispy hash browns with other potato choices available. My son had Eggs Sheridan which included sautéed greens with poached eggs and prosciutto over baguette. Overall we were very delighted with our meals! My wife was so jealous after hearing how good it was that we revisited the next day! I had the savory bread pudding which was fabulous and my wife had the strawberry chicken salad which she enjoyed very much.
