In the last couple of months I have had occasion to special order 3 legs of lamb for different dinner parties that my husband and I were giving. Without exception, the quality of the lamb we received was excellent. In addition, the manager in the meat department is very knowledgeable + is very warm and friendly, a great combination which we appreciate. We used to purchase lengua here but the price became so exorbitant that we stopped doing so. We often buy our organic SMART chicken thighs here because their prices are consistently the best in Southern Oregon. They sell out quickly so we have to be on our toes! We don't purchase much else at this store because it's primarily conventional and we eat organic. The folks that work here are very nice, which we really appreciate. They have an amazing top notch natural food, personal hygiene, and house hold items for prices that simply CANNOT be matched or beat! This is the one stop shop of the century! Right when you walk through the doors they offer Purcell hand sanitizer & hand wipes! As you walk in, it smells like you have walked into the movie theaters! They offer Franz breads, Dave Killers Breads to protien packed Australian bread Right in center they have a garlic bread rack featuring store brand or the two for $5 deal like my mother would mostly certainly go after to freeze the other bag, cause it's all about the bargain baby! They offer some really cool beverage glasses featuring the Oregon Ducks or Oregon Beavers! Plus, artisanal coffee mugs w/ some bitchin' sticker flair! Conveniently, they have all the essentials right in front for people who are experiencing houseless challenges like: raincoat ponchos, hand warmers, body warmers, glove's, hats, portable fireplaces, personal hygiene grooming items, and girlie items too! They have a great seasonal section that is out of this world priced so fairly. Oh, they have the cutest little toy section for children that is offered at the beginning of the store vs while you're checking out (every parent understands the importance of this set up - iykyk)! Certainly, they have been getting in some very cool plants! They had a ravishing Alocasia Dragon Scale that was large AF, and super healthy! They have been getting the Maranta Leuconeura Erythroneura aka red prayer plants, Maranta Leuconeura Kerchoveana aka lemon lime prayer plants, Lemon Lime Maranta plants many little Dottie Calathea plants (personal favorite, but can be finicky -they like more humidity from my experience), Rattlesnake Calathea plants, Calathea peacock plants, large ZZ plants, ferns (reminds me of my momma), Syngonium Podophyllum aka the Arrowhead plants like Berry Allusions or Ice Frost, medium/large monsteras, and crotons that were very lush! They had the most beautiful outdoor little starter flowers to that reminded me of my mom! They had cat nip starter kits w/ a free cat toy! Plus, fresh herb for only $3.99!!! Oh, they had the best trio succulents in this cute vase that separated each succulent plant from one another, so they could all get their own H2O requirements! What is more, they offer larger succulents that were very beautiful & HEALTHY! Now, the produce section is out of this universe top tier! They had sugar canes, I had never seen one in real life!! They have coconuts from Thailand for cheap AF. They offer blackberries! Strawberries for $4!!! They had all kinds of amazing fruits that NO OTHER STORE HAS LOCALLY!!!! OH, they offer organic peeled garlic & black garlic - what They offer all the posh mushrooms for an insanely cheap price! They have peppers from Mexico. They have the BEST green tomatoes for fried green tomatoes They slayed the Asian produce section!!! Oh boy, I haven't even talked about ALL THE SAUCES & VINEGERETTES!!! The international food selection is so great! The Hispanic aisles were done exceptionally well! They feature the chiclet gum & some of my favorite Mexican candies! The seafood selection is what every seafood persons wildest dreams could be made of I'm sure The meat selection looks fresh AF & at a bargain, again! They have candy at the check out & near the produce that is FROM SPAIN!!! They have cheeses from all over the world, and wine infused for cheap AF. They have Amish butter! They seriously had every culture's imputes when they revamped this grocery & natural food store!!! I am so thrilled that anyone can shop here! I feel this is the BEST retail grocery store in Southern Oregon. It is a big store and they have a very large selection of just about everything. They usually have several check stands open so you seldom have to wait. They have a large selections of KETO, Sugar Free, Atkins, Bulk, and Organic items to pick from. I'm very happy and so pleased with Food for Less Grocery Store. They do have an outstanding selection from all food categories one could ask for. I find many items that are marked down more than other places. Although they are usually busy at the checkout stands, the waits are better than most places I've been. just like the name, thing are cheaper and selections are amazing. The staff is super friendly from stockers to the cashier and including the guy manning the ice cream store. I ended up getting few pastries from local company, bomber from local brewery and on the way out, grabbed scoop of ice cream for around $2.50 and it was delicious. I would like to share a super unpleasant experience with the Assistant Manager this evening. I stopped in to purchase an Ice Cream, I walked towards the parking lot of the old Hotel next door to eat my Ice Cream in the shade. As I approached the Carport there were two women getting in their car to leave. They got out of their car and told me I was Trespassing and that they would need to steam clean the asphalt where my Ice Cream Dripped. I headed back towards Food 4 less parking lot to eat my Treat in the shade. Now I was clearly off their property and they still followed me to harass me to leave. After a few words the one Woman started talking to me like a street fighter. She then went to Food 4 less and got the Assistant Manager. The Assistant Manager was certainly on a power trip, she stated that I was trespassing and called Medford Police. I headed to the store to speak to her Boss and she blocked me from entering the store. The end result is I did speak to the Police with the outcome as I did nothing to deserve this contact. So in Medford Food 4 Less trespasses shoppers for buying Ice Cream, although allows "Lowlifes" in their parking lot to harass customers as they get in and out of their cars for money. In addition they allow "LowLifes" to cruise the parking lot for anything they can steal. I messaged the Store Manager, we will see if I get a response. read more

Some of the natural food set is good, but the pricing just keeps going up and up. I notice that many items are never offered with the manufacture's discount as seen in other stores. The natural set needs an overhaul and someone stocking the shelves who actually knows about good food choices, a 12 foot section of nothing but oatmeal is just a waste of space. Most of the packaged 'natural' stuff is nothing more than organic sugary junk food, really disappointing to see when there are so many other viable options. I was sure I had written a review of this grocery the last time I was out here, but either I forgot or it mysteriously vanished. This is a no frills grocery with lots of pluses and a few disadvantages. They have good prices and carry some real bargain items, rather plain produce, but some very nice items, like a good selection of quality cheese from local Rogue Creamery as well as specialty organic and gluten free packaged goods on par with my home town high end full service stores. The organic pasta selection rivals the Boulder CO Whole Foods and much of the gluten free specialty goods come from producers based in Boulder County. The staff is very helpful in guiding customers to products as the store feels a bit disorganized in layout. It's plain and older but always seems very clean. You need to bag your own purchases but they do provide bags if you need them. As an out of town visitor, I did. My hosts shop here fairly regularly for certain products. The parking lot is ample for all size vehicles with spaces far larger than I am used to at home. I usually find myself here each time I visit Medford. read more

Upon arrival in Ashland I did some research on grocery shopping in the area. I came across Food For Less as being open 24/7; with my severe jet lag I was awake very early and decided to check it out. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and quite impressed with the assortment as well as quality of the store. First of all: staff is super friendly, not unimportant to me. Secondly: I noticed a pretty well-stocked beauty and health department that puts Trader Joe to shame. Certain items are not super cheap, but the fact Food For Less sells this is pretty impressive. Their fresh produce section may not be the very very best, but I'm sure I can find good things here. There's an organic section too with great salads at a sweet price. I even noticed Thai eggplant and rather sad looking ginger roots. I'll try their fresh produce next time. Moving on from fresh produce I came across a big bulk department. Anything we need but sometimes just a little less or a little more is being sold here. Even a variety of spices. It's basically what high-end stores such as Whole Foods in LA or other natural stores are selling. Good for you, Food For Less! Their meat and fish department offers a good variety. I've never seen that many tortillas in a supermarket and an aisle of Latin products made me go "wow!!" All in all: this store has a lot to offer. I will most certainly buy items here. I'm not a huge fan of prepackaged bread, so that I won't buy here. Other than that: prices are good and their assortment is impressive. With a staff that is helpful and friendly you can be sure I'll become a regular. And open 24/7.... what's not to like? read more

I love food for less. I used to love winco but I've realized y'all have a better selection. I will say, you guys have way too many handicap parking spots though. Old folks need to walk or they become immobile. I would recommend you take at least ten of those spots out to ensure the mobility of the senior citizens we cherish. Fresh coffee in the morning, icy cold fountain drinks for .99 to $1.19 for a 44oz, and a beautiful selection of items! But Bob, the guy in charge of ordering for the puffcorn, he made my day when he volunteered to call me personally as soon as the puffcorn was stocked! And a few days later HE DID!!!!! there's been two times where I needed to plug my phone in to transfer money to buy my groceries and I was able to do that. They also have a bench to sit on inside, I sat there for about an hour one day and they didn't say anything. It was very nice. I appreciate that however, outside there's a couple dudes that will come out and tell you to stop loitering. But I just bought stuff here. What? Why are you not nice to me? I'm not loitering, I'm just alive and here talking with people I know. Well, it is what it is because of Bob Im still coming here every day. The fountain pop helps too. on May 22nd of this year I was shopping here in Medford with a disabled friend and I was verbally assaulted and physically threatened and psychologically damaged by the person claiming to be security...this boy had no right to even approach me the way he did it was very intimidating and I was scared to death...this place allowed this belligerent bashing and profiling to go on for more then five minutes whilst the manager and employees and other customers just watched...I have never been more humiliated and hurt in all my life I was a paying customer with a receipt and my disabled friend was still in store shopping and I had got done sooner and went to car to unload and make room nothing else was going on and I was by myself, I am a small woman with disabilities as well and he could have easily been trying to rob me or kidnap me , his badge was illegible twas being flung in my face and he kept threatening to grab me and handcuff me for no reason what so ever... finally after I pleaded with him for his reason behind this his exact words were " be cause your a bitch, and I don't like you and you need to leave my f...... store." ...yep help you got it right he actually called me a bitch and that was his profile reason for sending me down the road where I had to walk all of our groceries from the store with a bad hip and back and now I'm in hospital with painful pelvis injury due to the weight I was carrying while walking so far ..thanks sherms for keeping me safe while shopping,NOT! racial and economical and sexual profiling by your security and brut force for purchases under ten dollars wow...think id rather pay more at Safeway where I'm actually safe and respected. read more

We used the Food 4 Less Bakery for our Wedding cake and additional cupcakes. The Manager Bobbie was absolutely amazing. She was so patient and kind. Our cake and cupcakes turned out beautifully and they tasted AMAZING! All of guests commented on them. The price was so reasonable we couldn't have been happier overall. read more

This is unlike any Food4Less I have ever been to. The outside looks like it is the first Food4Less ever built. They have an awesome organic and healthy food section. I have found several items that are usually only in over priced hippy health food stores. They have a large selection of organic breads from small local bakeries. This place always has great deals! It's like Winco basically... But I like this place a little more! They have pretty nice employees, also. The... what, fifteen times I've been here, everybody is always pretty friendly! I also really enjoy getting a treat after I checkout. They have a counter where you can get some ice cream (can't remember if it's Umpqua or Tillamook ice cream...), get popcorn, a hot dog or soda, whatever. Cheap too. It's like going to Costco! Here's the thing though... We all know Medford in the summer is hell, right? They just recently paved the parking lot with the most awful black pavement so it's hotter than hell no matter what you do, so be prepared for that on those 90+ degree days when you want to go to an air conditioned store! read more

Mind you everyone always compliments me on how sweet and quiet he is. The older lady next to me starts complaining to me about how rude that is and if he always does this in public? I couldn't believe it I thought for a minute she was kidding because he's so good and smiling all the rest of the time. She keeps going on and on, my kids never did that blah blah blah. This is a place one comes to shop; not for the ambiance. It's pretty much warehouse style. But the food here is quite a bit cheaper than most other local supermarkets, and the quality doesn't suffer. There's a large natural/organic food section in the back. Between there and the produce section one will find a lot of bulk foods. There's even a small section of Samoan foods, a rarity in these parts. The fish section includes exotics such as frog's legs, whole tillapia, octopi, etc.,, as well as salmon and trout. The meat sections often features cuts from cattle raised by 4-H kids. There's an in-store bakery; one can also buy snacks like jo-jos and ice cream cones. And there's a freezer with Mexican paletas (popsicles) - surprisingly tasty are the cucumber-chile ones. This store is on Biddle Road, just south of Highway 62 and near the north Medford I-5 interchange. read more

Wow. Finally a food for less than doesn't freak me out. Ok, it freaks me out a little bit. But only because it is so freaking huge that getting lost your first 50 times here is inevitable. Seriously. The place is a maze and I got turned around so many times I thought I would lose it. This is why I spent a considerable amount of time here last weekend just perusing the aisles. I left the boys and home and treated myself to a shopping extravaganza, where I discovered that they carry tons of items that I have not seen elsewhere. for example, the Better Than Bouillon line must be the best in the state. Ham base? Neat! I also love the smell of this store. Whatever they are cooking up in the bakery makes my heart flutter. Too bad I don't care much for sweets. Side note: The store is owned by Sherms, and they have their own cheese line. Please know that although the ingredients in the Sherms cheddar and Bandon cheddar are the same, the Sherms is way weird. It has a slick greasy exterior and the interior is similar to string cheese. It melts normally and tastes fine, but I was so put off by the other factors that I would never buy it again. read more

I shopped here recently as a departure from my normal weekly Winco trip when I am in Medford. Not only is the store generally kind of dirty, but the prices are really not better than Winco! They have a slightly better selection of some things versus Winco, but overall the place is more expense and feels generally kind of dirty. Their produce department is not all that great either. Here's the deal: Food for Less is by no means pleasing to the eye. In fact, when you pull up into the parking lot, you may be inclined to turn around because it looks so dated. Inside is not much better, BUT... There are GREAT deals to be had here on bulk items and an ever growing organic section that is the cheapest around. The also have a natural medicine/supplement area with killer deals so it's worth the trip and possibility of bumping into some of "Medford's Finest". The store is huge and you can find pretty much anything here that your heart desires. Most of the meat is purchased locally, often from 4-H farmers, and is cut fresh in the butcher daily. It's definitely got that warehouse, budget grocery feel... but they've got an incredible organic/natural foods section near the back of the store and a crazy selection of meats and produce.
