This store is primarily conventional with a mix of some organic. My husband and I don't buy conventional because we eat only organic. The folks who work here are exceptionally sweet and they know their business. If I need help, I get it immediately. If we need to order something special from the meat department like organic SMART chicken thighs, Michael will call the manager in the meat department and place his order. They go the 2nd mile to make sure that we get what we asked for if it is at all possible. Thunderbird really understands service with a smile!!!

You order the burger and then do a check off on everything you want on it. Next time you are near have them cook one up for you and take it out onto their deck and watch the creek role by. I don't think you'll be unhappy. I also bought some coleslaw and chicken bow tie salad. Very good. Although I felt the coleslaw needed some spices to it.

We picked up a whole roaster, some thighs, and a few boneless/skinless chicken breasts...and this quality of the chicken is astounding. Different texture, flavor, and not fatty. The roaster turned out SUPERB- the best we'd ever experienced, the thighs I cooked in the air fryer, and the flavor and texture- very light skin, no fat, was phenomenal. The chicken breast were also of like quality. YES, it's more expensive, but the quality and the HEALTH factor of Draper Valley Farms Chicken is well-worth it. (included pic of our roaster) Then just two days ago, on a quick shopping spree to pick up a few of their HIGH QUALITY items at the meat counter (always SO good!)- and I purchased one of their Burgers (Online Ketchup & Mustard Only) & fresh fries to-go from the deli. Oh my. Huge patty, very lightly packed, lots of cheese, (pic posted as well) and the fries were great. Just an overall delicious hamburger.

Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but five years after my first impression of the store, Im still thrilled that I live so close to a great organic grocery store. When you live in Nebraska and the closest grocery store is 45 minutes away from you, and the closest store with a moderate selection of organic products is almost 2 hours away, you really appreciate a store like this in a town like this where there are many organic options to choose from. What caught my eye that first time, and it hasnt changed over the past five years: an excellent selection of products I actually use. No having to figure out "is this organic?" when looking at the produce, where some is organic and some isnt; its all organic here. Wide aisles, sparkling floors. Staff who have become friends. Everything is so clean. Theyll special order for you. And for me, no having to drive 2 hours to find "something, anything" thats organic. Yes, there are other stores in town that offer organic choices. But for a complete selection of everything I need, from sources I trust, that I know are always going to be there, PLUS a Senior Discount Day on Thursdays and fitness club discounts on Fridays, to me Gooseberries cant be beat. Shop local, shop the independent businesses; keep those businesses prospering, even if it costs a little more. Its worth it in the long run.

This meant we bought out daily small needs there as well. But next owners did not offer this service so we had to go to Post Office. Then the present owners took over and renamed it Sam's Market. For the longest time they had an OPEN sign on front---but the door was locked. After stopping multiple times to get last minute purchases, I just quit stopping and went to the next store down. For a while I was told, there were something like bodyguards checking people at the door at night. Seemed nefarious to me and I quit going altogether. I now rate it a 0. Too bad because this was the greatest little general store for years. Hope someone new takes over and brings it back to it's former local mkt glory.
