I will say it is a bit pricey, but they have financial assistance for people who are needing it, and when I lost my job we paid based on how much we made so cost doesn't have to be a factor preventing you from going to an inclusive community center for all ages. The YMCA in West Boise offers a great experience for any newcomer to the gym or long time veterans who are just coming in to work out.

We went on a Saturday and the big pool had a swim meet so it was closed which was fine, but it wasn't posted anywhere. So we went in the other two pools. The problem is, we called ahead to get information since we'd never been before & at the front desk reiterated we had never been so wanted to make sure we were good to go info. However, the staff at the front desk was unpleasant and offered almost no information. You must have your ID with you which we had to go 20 minutes back for and was not told that on the phone. We brought 4 kids, two that can swim and two that can't yet so we borrowed life jackets and they swam for almost an hour in the non kiddie pool only to be told you can't be in here even with a life jacket so they kicked them out into the kiddie pool. Then they kept asking for necklaces which we didn't know what that meant and finally a lifeguard said they tell us if they can swim or not. This was an hour in style that point and they'd been swimming without them. The signage to the pools is atrocious and unclear. The bathrooms were dirty as were multiple spots in the pool. I even asked about memberships for the future, & the front desk person said "oh idk you'll need to call the manager" and walked away. I'm glad it was only $4 because it was a very stressful experience and next time we want to take the kids swimming, I think we will find somewhere else.

It may not be the most affordable gym in the treasure Valley but it's worth the price they charge for access to the pools, hot tub, the various classes you can attend throughout their locations, access to the gym equipment and indoor track for walking/jogging/running among other things. They always have events going on, and many programs are available for families and children. Not to mention the fact that they don't just turn people away when they can't pay the full gym membership fee. They have many generous kind hearted donors whose donations allow them to provide financial aid for those experiencing hardships so if you're on a very limited budget, it wouldn't hurt to ask an employee about financial assistance. I feel as though they truly value me as a member and I always have a great time while I'm here so they will always have my support. I'm so glad I left planet fitness to be a member of the Y- one of the BEST decisions I've ever made!

The South Meridian facility in the newest of the Treasure Valley YMCAs and it shows. It has…read moreworld-class workout machines, muscle-strengthening machines, free weights, classroom space, a pickleball court, two swimming pools, a small lazy river and a large hot tub. One thing I really like is a computerized set of weight stations, Egym, where all of the settings are adjusted automatically based on your level and the program you're using. After every six sessions (two rounds on the 11 machines) each machine gives you a strength test to measure your progress. Resistance for your next set of trainings is then adjusted. For someone who once messed around with an old Universal Gym during ju for high but didn't understand how much weight to use, when to increase it and by how much, this makes it much simpler. The cost is a reasonable $10 per month over the normal membership fee. My aging body isn't so limber, so one of the Egym trainers suggested taking a free beginners yoga class she teaches. It's helping to stretch those muscles. The staff is friendly and things are kept spotless. This location has become the Y's busiest Boise-area location.

It is collection of small business owners with hispanic goods and foods. It is an amazing event that has a lot to offer everyone. Parking can be tricky but the park across the street is a decent place to park. Vendors can change their space weekly and there are new vendors every week. There is a DJ spinning La Chona and other classics and the vibe is very family friendly.

In addition to being a venue that people can rent for business or personal functions, it's also a little museum. They have a kitchen, a nursery, a computer room with HP computers if someone wanted to do a class there, other classrooms of varying sizes, and larger rooms where people could host something like a wedding reception. They even have a bar. For the museum type, you can walk around and look at artwork on the walls upstairs and downstairs, bright, colorful murals showcasing some classic Mexican themes like loteria, La Virgen de Guadalupe, Selena, and a low rider couple. They also have a room that has some ornate Mexican sombreros, dolls, and more artwork. This would be a great place to take younger kids, or homeschoolers on a field trip, and of course, to rent space from to host a variety of events.
