We traveled to Durant Oklahoma Friday to the Choctaw health center. And after we left there we traveled the back road into Durant and came across Sherrer's Restaurant. We decided to give it a try. I like mom and pop restaurants and it looked like it would be one. And my husband ordered the catfish. And I had a burger and onion rings. And we were not disappointed at all. It had that old fashioned taste and everything was wonderful. I especially enjoyed the onion rings! My husband had two big pieces of catfish which he said was great. The lady that waited on us was so friendly and gave us great service! The restaurant was kind of old but it had a great flow thru it and plenty of room. read more

Be ware of hidden charges. First off, the food is less than mediocre. As for the price gouging .... I ordered a $7.50 sandwich with a side and a glass of tea. Imagine my surprise when I see a total of $15. I was told that my onion rings were a $1.50 surcharge. The waiter offered me this option, without me asking, but failed to tell me that he was going to gouge me. Also, he incorrectly calculated the total charge. It came down to $13. By the way, the onion rings were the worst ever. The chicken fried steak meat was simply something that came out of a box. Stay away. I will never be back. read more

Great food! Great burgers! I didn't even know this place was open, they always look closed, but the server assured me they are open all the time. Really good food. The chili was pretty darn good and had a different taste than most chili, but was good. read more

This place is awesome!!! Great burgers, onion rings, Fried fish and french fries, hush puppies, oh and their special house salad dressing is really tasty.. good on salad and good on onion rings or fish! It's kind a like thousand Island dressing but much better. The waitress was very attentive and kind. We even asked if she was the owner. She seem to have enjoyed her job and taking care of the place as if she was. She said she was actually the newest staff there. I guess my suggestion for the place would be to put more lighting in the parking lot. read more

When we first walked in it looked old & dated but it has been open for 66 years this year! It's a seat yourself option and there were only two other tables occupied. We felt welcomed and the staff is friendly. In spite of the age the place is clean. The menu is simple and we all opted to try the burgers. The patties were hand made and I found it to be a really good burger. The crinkle cut frozen fries were over done but didnt taste horrible. In fact if the fries had been hand cut freah fries id have given 5 stars. The strawberry pie was EXCELLENT! I am not huge on strawberries but that was by far the best pie! read more

The best burger in southeast Oklahoma! This place opened in the 40's and is still owned and operated by the original owner and his family! In fact, he still walks around the room and chats with everyone. Super nice guy as is the rest of his family. I've never really ventured far away from the bacon cheeseburger but there is definitely some great food on the menu. I am also a fan of the fried cheese raviolli. Even though this burger ties with another favorite of mine as #1, the best items on the menu are the pies. The owner makes them all from scratch including the whipped cream topping on the strawberry pie. I don't really care for fresh strawberries myself but I can eat this pie all day long! My biggest worry is that fewer and fewer young people are going there these days and they don't advertise much although they are quietly involved in local community service. Feels like your walking back in time when you go into this diner. It has been around since 1948 and is still owned/ran by same family. The hand breaded chicken nuggets are great.
