Found this intriguing restaurant while planing a trip for 4 adults to Lake Texoma yesterday. Looked inviting on arrival and we received a friendly reception when we entered and quickly seated in a near empty dining room. Overall, our food was very good, service was good (BUT, the 45 minute wait for 2 cooks to prepare food because of a "busy bar crowd" after 1 PM was a disappointment!). Caution, Island Burger's pineapple slices shoot out when biting into burger. Happily replaced by more grilled pineapple slices! House made BBQ sauce was nicely spicy too.

Where to begin?! This place is so cute! Polynesian tiki themed. But the food was so delicious! The Crack burger AKA the Island burger was so good I've been craving it since! Wasn't sure how all the flavors would come together but OMG it was awesome! My daughter had the mushroom Swiss burger and said hers was just as good! We enjoyed a couple of meals here, both fresh and tasty. Had fun listening to the band Sax and Whiskey. Our waitress was awesome and made great suggestions. We will be back!

    The Tiki Red Shrimp!!!!! WOW

Had tried this place over the years and was never impressed but decided to try it again tonight. The food was amazing the service was great. I loved the fresh salad bar, freshly baked bread. The best $29 steak I've ever had. they were advertising this tiki red shrimp that said it tasted like lobster so I went back before they closed and bought a pound for the football game and oh my God! It literally tastes like lobster! Amazing! Two thumbs up! I asked why the place had improved so much and apparently it's under new ownership with a new chef so if you haven't given this place a shot in a while you might think about it again.

My buddy and I went here on a Friday evening. The patio and bar area was packed. We set outside by the pool. We both ordered their onsite craft pale ale and it was delicious. It was also underpriced in my opinion for the value. We did not try the blueberry wheat beer they had but will next time. We ordered chips and salsa just because most bars screw that up and I was just curious. I was impressed. It wasn't your average "go to Walmart and get chips and salsa for the people." It was actually Mexican style restaurant chips with seasoning and two containers of quality and tasty salsa. We both ordered the Volcano burger and I got onions rings and my buddy got the salad bar. We both thought the burgers were really good and my onion rings were not oily at all which I appreciated. The overall vibe of the place is perfect for being so close to the water. I will definitely be back any time I'm in the area.

The bar is super cozy at night, and the holiday lights really add to the overall ambiance, cool vibes all around. I didn't stay to dine-in and ordered out instead, but I could easily see myself sitting here playing cards with friends. The pizza was VERY good, and the summertime berry salad was even better (now goes by Strawberry Pecan Salad). Two days later, my friends and I were hungry and couldn't stop thinking about this pizza and salad. So we ordered out again mid day. This time we got a full salad, added chicken, and asked for extra toppings and dressing. Definitely ask for extra, especially if you're sharing, because the normal amount isn't quite enough. I'm a culinary dietitian and meant to ask for their ranch recipe, but totally forgot. Ughhh!! So delicious though! There was a small mix-up with the second order and we had to drive back, but the customer service was great and it was no issue at all to fix. Highly recommend!!!

Atmosphere is nice and open with plenty of bar seats as well as communal high tops and standalone tables. Nice outdoor patio when Texas weather permits! Tried a couple of their beers: Miso Smooth (Japanese rice lager - 5.5% ABV) and Soul Fire Ultra Light (American Light Lager - 3.7 ABV / 15 IBU). Both decent enough for what they were, the latter being helped by the fact it was only $3 a pint. For food, tried the newly opened Zaep Zaep Thai joint. Had the Thai Basil Combo Fried Rice and an order of Spring Rolls. Seriously good stuff! Unexpected quality for a food court! The chef (owner?) also came into the bar to check to see if our food was to our liking. Definitely a nice touch and I wish him much success. Olivia's Scratch Kitchen serving African cuisine was the only other option open. Was a tough decision and hopefully will be back soon to try their offerings! There was also a cupcake place (Kid Kakes) that seems to get great reviews, but with Oak St Pie Company just a few doors down... well... sorry Kid Kakes! At only 20 years old, the bartender did a great job serving us and was more genuinely personable than many who have done the similar job for years. All-in-all a great impulse decision after The Original Roy Hutchins BBQ line ended up being far too long to wait in!

I went specifically for their signature dish (the one they proudly call themselves the "Home of the Chicken Fried Brisket"), and it delivered exactly what everyone raves about. They take a thick, oak-smoked brisket slice--already juicy, tender, and loaded with smoky flavor and perfect bark--then coat it in a craft-beer batter and fry it up. The crust comes out shatter-crisp and golden, never greasy or soggy, while the brisket inside stays beefy and moist. That peppery burnt-end gravy poured over the top is rich, savory, and ties everything together beautifully with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes on the side. It's pure Texas comfort food genius--smoky BBQ meets Southern fried steak in the best possible way. I'd order it again in a heartbeat (it's a Tuesday special or weekend brunch treat, so plan accordingly). The rest of the BBQ holds up just as strong. Their regular brisket (flat and point) is consistently juicy, tender, and smoky with that killer bark everyone mentions. Sides and other meats are solid too--no weak links. The house beers are fantastic and pair perfectly with the rich, smoky food (the rustic, woodsy vibe in the historic downtown Garland spot makes it even better for lingering over a pint). Service is friendly and the whole place just feels welcoming. If you're in Garland or nearby and love bold Texas BBQ with a creative twist, Intrinsic is a must. The chicken-fried brisket alone is worth the trip--don't sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great smoked meats, great beer, and something uniquely delicious

It's a cool restaurant that has a lot of seating, and cool decor with Guitars displayed on the wall and a small stage for performers. We walked up to where you order. It was counter service and the guy that took our order was laid back. We paid, he gave us a number and then we chose a place to sit and waited for our food. We ordered several items to share. We started off with a charcuterie board that had meats, cheeses, nuts, fruit, and toasted bread. It was really good. The bread was able to hold the ingredients and was nice and crispy but not overly crispy. The meats were good and the different cheeses were flavorful with different textures. The fruit was fresh and the nuts were a nice crunchy addition. Very yummy start. We also shared the Tejas Nachos with Brisket. The Nachos come with tortilla chips covered in cheese, queso, jalapenos, tomatoes, and crema. They were okay. The Brisket was plentiful. There was a lot of cheese and queso spread out all over the nachos. It was a little too much. The chips got soggier the closer you got to the bottom of the pile. Our last shared item was the ZZ Top BBQ Flatbread. It was okay. It came with an overabundance of cheese. It also came with jalapenos, BBQ sauce, and we ordered it with Chicken. It was okay. The cheese was gooey but overwhelming. The jalapenos added a spicy flavor and the BBQ sauce was tasty. Overall the restaurant has a cool atmosphere with good service. The counter service, ordering and paying process was quick and easy. Everytime someone brought our food to us they were friendly. The food was okay and literally very cheesy.
