Sherry Han is the real deal. I can't enjoy other yoga classes any more because they just don't feel authentic after learning from her. Her therapeutic yoga really changes your body and can fix health problems (you can see case studies as fellow students in your classes). Her yoga is so therapeutic that she has also been teaching at Kaiser Santa Teresa. In comparison, other instructors I've tried seem to have just learned yoga a couple of years ago, and they teach it like it's an aerobics class. Sherry takes her time with each yoga pose, giving personalized individual help so you can get the most out of it. I'm a ballet dancer, and I thought I knew my body alignment before, but Sherry takes your awareness to a whole other level. Don't worry, you'll still get a challenging workout and find yourself sore the next day. She just moved to this larger studio (July 2006)...thank goodness, because her classes always fill up the room! If it's your first time, she has mats you can borrow. She sounds a little kooky, but just one class with her will convince you that this is the yoga your body has been aching for. read more

Sherry Han has a following like a CULT. She is that popular! Also, according to Sherry, there isn't much that yoga will not cure ;) Well, I am not a complete believer just yet, but I am loving her yoga classes. There are different levels for everyone. It's best to buy an 8-pack good for 8 classes (duh!) for $135. The best part is that you are not tied down to a schedule. If you're not free 1 week, you're not wasting anything. You essentially pay each time you go. Parking can be tough, but I've never not had a spot. However, what you should be worried about is getting here early enough to get a spot in the class. I don't get it, I don't understand all the great reviews. Sherry is interesting but not relaxing. I want to hang out with her, but never again take another one of her classes. If you don't like yoga for the meditation and mind/body connection philosophies then you may like it. Personally, I prefer a relaxing environment. There was no music. Someone even answered their phone. Sherry told stories much of the time about her family and how she does yoga in the car, while we were waiting to hear the next pose. Then she passed out bread. Very sweet, if your in a reading group or a class that isn't yoga. Hearing the tinfoil crackle and the sound and smell of people eating while doing yoga isn't my jam. She goes around the room helping people stretch, which I was kindof excited for- I usually love this. A knee to back while trying to force my body in a direction it doesn't want to go was not my idea of a good stretch. It was downright dangerous. Im not big on posting bad things, but this woman is expensive and I'm genuinely surprised she hasn't been sued. You're in much safer hands at Nulife or Yogasource. read more

Wow, what an amazing set of reviews. I'm feeling a little guilty about the 3 stars, but felt compelled to speak up for people out there that may be a little more like me... Germ averse. So, everything you read in the other reviews is true. Sherry is talented. And her following is, as one reviewer described, cultish. I hit the beginners class, because I had not faithfully practiced for over 3 years. Her beginner class is comparable to intermediate some places, possibly advanced in others. She stopped the class midway through and everyone went into corpse pose. I rejoiced that the pain was over, only to realize this was just a break. The girl next to me asked Sherry for candy. I thought, "Where am I? What IS this??" so Sherry gave each of us a ginger coconut hard candy. Yes, it was good. Here's the part to listen to if you're germ averse, like me. When I arrived, I was shocked at the temperature. It was hot. And humid. And what happens when people are crammed in, mat to mat, in a hot, humid space? Funk happens. Windows were steaming. You're freaked that your neighbor might sweat on your mat. And then, you start wondering how frequently Sherry cleans the carpet. This was the first class I'd ever taken where final relaxation is on the stomach. If you are germ averse, proceed with caution. Sherry walks the class barefoot, traversing from funky mat, to funky mat, expertly enhancing form. During final relaxation, she steps on each pupil's sweaty back, barefoot. So, by the time she walked on mine (yes, it felt good), she had walked on Lord knows how many sweaty backs, and passed that funk on to me, then added my funk on to the next. Now look... I get that a lot of yogis are granola, zen, freaks, whatever. But there's a limit, people. I am no germaphobe, just germ averse. And for this reason, I cannot return. I know.... My loss. read more

I hate to leave a negative review as Sherry was my first yoga teacher! Unfortunately, her lack of knowledge that she likes to pressure you into a pose caused me sciatica! I had been in pain ever since she pushed me into a pose and had taken years of therapy to be pain free. Even to this day if I do a wrong move I feel my sciatica coming back! Sherry has a very unique approach to yoga and a large following. Actually, she is very well known in the Campbell community. I've taken several different types of yoga classes at school, gyms, and private studios....her teaching style is the best. She goes at a really good pace and has a hands on approach. The best part about class is the cool down when we do a little meditation in the dark and she comes around and stretches out your back or neck. Plus her stories and "sherry-isms" are really funny. I took my cousin to a class a couple weeks ago and she is hooked too. Definitely, worth a try. Tips if you are going: Bring cash or check, tuck your $ on a corner of your yoga mat before class begins, there are mats free of charge that you can borrow, and the parking lot is small but you can park next door by the hair salon. I love Sherry's yoga classes!! Since arriving on the West Coast from Boston late last year, I knew I wanted to get back into the Yoga classroom, my previous practice being limited to Hatha sessions taken primarily at work for a couple years, followed by several years of at-home DVD (Erich Schiffman), and now also Wii Fit. Back then, I didn't really have the time or the money to get back into a studio to take my practice beyond the Advanced Beginner level I was at. Until now... Well, I still don't have the money now either but I seem to be pulling it out of thin air from somewhere. LOL Anyway, I am soooo glad that I've chosen Sherry Han's as my go-to Yoga Studio. I'm currently demoing classes at another studio as well but so far, I still find Sherry the best. And her brand of Therapeutic Yoga combines many of the best qualities of all the other different types of yoga combined. The jury is still out on whether or not I will continue to take classes at that other place, if only because it's a bit more cost effective for me. Sherry's classes are $135 for an 8 pack, which equates to $135 a month if you go twice a week. So while we're still a one-income family, money can be a bit tight right now. Of course, there's always my Wii, Wii Fit, and EA Sports subsidize my classroom Yoga If I need to go that route. But Sherry is just sooooo great that I really do want to make it there 2 more more times a week. (I envy the people who have the funds to go 5 times a week.) read more

I have been practicing yoga on and off for over 7 years and have had 5 or 6 different instructors. So... Not the most experience, but a decent sample of instructors. Sherry is a special person, one of a kind and has a great personality. A type of person that will leave an impression on you. As an instructor she knows when to push and when to relax you. Her poses tend to build off each other and week to week she pays attention to your progress. Arrive early, her classes are packed. The only downside is the location. Located on a busy street. The street noise at times can be distracting and parking is tough. Other downside is price, but you get what you pay for in this world. It just feels like home when you are there. I went to this yoga studio for the first time tonight with my girlfriend who's been going to her for years. My friend said it would really help find my center and relax from the every day stress of work. Besides me feeling a workout and a little pain Sherry is wonderful! Although I have no other yoga place to compare it to, so far with my whole yoga experience, Sherry seems great! Seriously, if I have a good experience the first time, I probably won't try another place, unless of course my mind is changed otherwise (but I don't think that's going to happen). Sherry is so sweet and really does take the time with every student to make sure you are correctly aligned/positioned. She said if you feel sore for the next 3 days, that means you did it right!.........man do I feel it already!.........but I am so excited to go again next week with my girlfriend. Tonight I just dropped in, which was $20 bucks.....I thought it was totally worth my hour and a half. I know she has package deals so I'm totally looking into that! One piece of advice, the venue is small so make sure you arrive early because the class is packed!!! If you want a good spot in front to see her positions, you gotta go early. read more

If your new to yoga, or have pain/injuries you need to work around/through, you can do no better than Sherry Han! I was a faithful Sherry Han student for over 5 years and my mental and physical health really demonstrated it. I haven't been in a while as I moved jobs; however, I miss Sherry. I've done a good amount of yoga and here is what you can expect. Sherry has a healing yoga practice. She has her own style that is tough to classify(Mash-up of Hatha, Vinyasa an Ashtanga styles so why bother classifying). What I loved was that she is very hands on. She really gets to know her students, their individual health needs and tends to cater to them. This is nice and very original. Sherry is a very gifted healer and in my personal case a very talented coach. As Mandy (other review) mentions, every week is different. That means that she teaches the same class all week with various levels depending on the class. I found it very helpful to be open and receptive to class on Monday and when I came back on Wed or Sat to really apply myself to the week's poses and technique. Honestly, after trying a lot of different yoga, this is very unique. I think I may have hit the same class two or three times in 5 years. If you are used to a set forms practice like Bikram or Ashtanga level 1 or 2 you will need to come with an open mind that class will be different from week to week. The one negative (to the extent this is really a negative) is that Sherry typically uses the common English names for poses and not the traditional Sanskrit. So you hear a lot of down dog, plow, etc. I honestly don't mind this; however, it sometimes made it confusing when I went to other more traditional classes. Saving the best for last, I always had fun at Sherry's classes. The people that practice with Sherry are very dedicated Yogi's and like to have fun and support each others practice. Sherry Han is nothing short of amazing!! My mother is a yoga instructor because of her. And who better to learn yoga from than her mentor? So I have been coming to Sherry's for a little more than a year, on and off. Her techniques are unlike most instructors at clubs and gyms. She targets specific areas of the body that you've never thought to use in certain ways as you walk out feeling revitalized and sore (in the good way). I recently brought 2 friends to her class and they were amazed. They had never taken yoga before and have decided to make it their regular exercise regime. If you have an ailments and body aches and pains, go to Sherry and she will heal you. She's 62 and still going on strong. This woman is really something! read more

Sherry Han is amazing and I like the method she teaches. We feel great and see results. Even in her packed classes, it still feels like we get individual attention. I really appreciate that she ensures her students are safely in the correct pose unlike other studios we've been to. Every class is different and feels so good afterwards. The unfortunate thing, on our part, is we are not as disciplined as we should be in terms of a regular yoga practice, but Sherry doesn't make us feel bad when we do finally show up. She's actually very welcoming. Minus star: I don't like that the 7:30 Mon/Thur classes are so packed (though there is room for everyone) but if you want a "good" spot - go early! Also, there are some rude people who will talk while others are trying to concentrate. Even when asked to "Please be quiet". The following week it's still the same guilty folks. I second that review. Sherry, Trevor and Lisa are all wonderful teachers. They are careful to structure classes for multiple levels, so you won't be overwhelmed if you can't fold yourself into a pretzel (yet). Sherry is very welcoming to people new to yoga and will help you learn to do the poses correctly and safely. She changes the poses every week so there is always a challenge and you work different muscles, plus you NEVER get bored. I've been taking classes for 5 years, and my overall health has improved as well as my balance and strength. You won't find just "hardbodies" in her classes - and you'll be welcomed no matter what your skill level or physical limitations. Sherry openly doles out a generous spirit, stories and concern for each of her students' health and wellbeing. Her classes are more focused on pushing the body and mind to gain flexibility and strength, and this is also balanced out with intermittent and ending Savasana rest/bodywork. I am a yoga newbie and Yelped yoga studios in search of a good place to try. I tried Sherry's classes based on the reviews. In the second beginner class I took at her studio, I have to say, I think I reached nirvana in relaxation and peace. We were stretching our backs and I think I was in some position all torqued up like double twist pretzel (an exaggeration, of course, since I am a smartass)...and I was looking at the reflection of the sunset on the trees across the street...and then I felt totally relaxed, at peace, calm...and for being a super hyper-spazzmatic person most of the time, that was weird...and nice! I slept so good that night!! I took a break from her classes (that damn work thing again) for a bit and am taking her classes again---Sherry is fabulous. I feel more energetic in the days after her class and sleep really well...as opposed to the snoring, restless, tossing and turning I usually do. And one of these days, I may be able to bend like she does. A big Maybe. Sherry Han is a true yoga guru. She is special and her classes go beyond just a normal yoga class. When I first started her classes, I could not touch my toes or even sit comfortably cross legged. I had issues with low back pain and extremely tight hips and shoulders. I thought my body could never change but Sherry Han proved me wrong. Her classes provide a perfect combination of cardio and stretching. As a physician, I have met many healers in my life, but none so amazing and dedicated as her. Sherry is the best yoga teacher you could have. She is a healer in more ways than one. Her knowledge of yoga and the mind/body connection is incomparable. I have danced my whole life and always had issues with flexibility. I can see my body change when I go to her classes. Sherry Han yoga is my "happy place". It is not just for physical well being, but also mental. I have a feeling of overwhelming peace and happiness after each class. She seems to have a loyal following and the sessions are festive with people chatting, walking out to take their phone calls etc. Despite the crowded class Sherry will come to each person to help multiple times and seems to genuinely care about how each student does. I attended a beginning class, I thought the studio was very dirty. There is carpet on the floor which felt damp and smelled like a gym. Sherry was very loud and aggressive. She talks too much and it is not very relaxing. Parking is terrible there. read more
