Taking the spot vacated by CVS and expanding beyond it, it seemed an unusual move considering the relative proximity of Sullivan's, Lowe's, and Hedlund's all over near 62nd and Keystone. That said, the neighborhoods are entirely different and this neighborhood really hasn't had anything resembling a hardware store. There was a place open for a bit near 75th and Binford, however, this neighborhood has really sort of struggled to attract new businesses. Other than a Big Lots across the street and the always popular Taylor's Bakery, this corner has been a bit run down and neglected for as long as I've lived in the area. Recently, this particular corner is showing signs of life with both strip centers being renovated and now the arrival of Ace Hardware. Great Lakes Ace is a Michigan-based company with 62 locations. The location has been cleaned up mightily and the accessibility definitely improved with a better ramp and automatic doors. The store itself is surprisingly accessible for a hardware store (a weakness of Sullivan's). Ace prides itself on offering expert advice on a variety of home repair and maintenance projects with convenient shopping to get in and out quickly and national buying power for access to name brands. Ace specializes in paint, lawn and garden, home décor and hardware. They offer weekly specials and they do participate in the Ace Rewards program. This location also offers Ace Handyman Services. They come to the home and offer 1,162 handyman services and services are backed by a one-year guarantee. You can schedule online and they call back to confirm appointments. It looks like they typically schedule in 1/2 day or full-day options. The craftsmen are actual Ace employees - not contractors. The Ace that I found was well staffed and super friendly and helpful. I was basically "just looking" at this visit, however, I felt free to do so without a lot of pressure. Some of the key services at this location: Propane Refill/Exchange Blades/Knives/Scissors/Saws Sharpening Screen Repair Hunting/Fishing Licenses Auto Key Programming and Cutting Glass Repair and Cutting Assembly and more. This location carries hand and power tools, paint, sundries, clothing, plumbing, hardware, outdoor, cleaning supplies, electrical, lawn and garden, and housewares. Brands they carry include Traeger, Weber, STIHL, Scotts, Toro, Benjamin Moore, YETI, Magnolia Home Paint, Craftsman, Dewalt, and a few others. I suppose 5-star might be a little generous for a hardware store, however, I really liked the improved atmosphere of this store from the dingy, worn out feeling in the old CVS. This location is clean, well organized, surprisingly affordable, and has employees who were friendly and helpful. Plus, accessibility is improved quite a bit from the old tenant. He stayed there helping us try and find the items and answered all of our questions. When we left two more associates were at the front and said goodbye. Loved the help and looked like a good amount of items in the store.

I was told the products would be in around 2 to 3 weeks, so was looking forward to having them installed in early to mid December. There was some issue with my vanity top, so repeat measurements were taken on November 30th. I was told the top would be in either the week before Christmas (this week) or the week of Christmas. Long story short, my general contractor told me yesterday that ProSource told him my vanity top won't be in until January 8th. It is so easy to blame the holidays for these delays, but this should have been handled in a more timely fashion so as to avoid using that excuse. I was so looking forward to getting my home and life mostly back to normal just before Christmas. This ordeal has ruined my family's Thanksgiving and now Christmas & New Year's too ! I also appreciate David not returning my phone calls and so-called account manager Staci not returning my email. Excellent customer service, ProSource, NOT !

The 12 bags I had poured had hardened enough to stand on by the time I got back, about 1 hour. Several hours after I poured 3 bags they were still soft as soup. The next morning I noticed they were still soft. I spoke to the manager "Ger-ette" he asked me sarcastically, "what do you want me to do?" I said I want a return or exchange. He said to bring the bags in. I said ok. Then he added narrative, unopened in the bag. I said how else can I realize that the concrete was bogus unless it was poured, do you want me to dig it out and bring the mess in? Then he denied me any type of refund or exchange. He mention every type of wise guy excuse to justify his denial. Reminded me of a classmate in business college that I outscored. I guess Ill let him punk me out of 3 bags of concrete. The moral of the story here summed up in two words for ya, Bad Business.

After a bit of searching we were directed to this company who does in fact repair even our custom old screens. Hallelujah! It was easy to bring in the item as everything was taped for dimensions etc so there was no issue. Due to lack of employees and demand it took a bit longer than expected (plus the needed part had to be ordered) but they did a great job and were very professional. The price wasn't too bad and even though it was more than expected (Having wanted to do it ourselves) their price was reasonable. It worked perfectly in the window and looks better than new! They have a lot of other items and lots of glass items etc so I would for sure recommend them not just for something like our screen.
