Most railing companies said that they couldn't do it. MetalArc was one of the few willing to accept the challenge and the unknowns that came with it. They worked hard to understand my vision and priorities. I am very particular in what I want and don't want. They respected that and were not put off by it. They are very, very kind people. The project gave them challenges beyond their expectations, but they were patient and stuck with it each time. I am thrilled with the final result. On my end, there were a few challenges as well. I had to be extremely patient with the schedule. The project was bid at a flat rate, however, they increased it when they had a better understanding of the project. This was after I was already committed and had made a large deposit. I was frustrated by that because I thought the project was clear from the beginning since I had a picture of what I wanted to replicate. The payment installments were confusing and, as things took longer, they added new installments. I had to be firm that the final installment would be paid when the project was done. They had a few employees turnover which directly impacted my project. All but one did great work; but the one caused some major hiccups as did the transitions in general. We finished the project as a team. The results are beautiful. We are on good terms. We are planning to work together again, thankfully on a much more straightforward project!

The level of refinement that we were looking for with these doors was not a hurdle they shied away from but rather they accepted the challenge and worked side by side with me to get it exactly right. It is a lost art in today's day and age. I was impressed time and time again with his clarity and thoughtfulness in every conversation and email. They do not accept credit cards so keep that in mind. We bought two pallets that were delivered when they said they would deliver. We had a great experience and would return! It's best to just GO there rather than call to see if they have supply. There is SO much inventory, it's worth a walk through! It's like Disneyland for DIYers!

So how the process goes is you take a look around and find what you want then you speak to someone about how much that type of brick costs. Typically they are $.35-.$.45 a brick regardless of how many you buy. We ended up easily saving a couple hundred dollars for the bricks we needed compared to buying brand new bricks. Then you load them up and pay in the office. Keep in mind that they only accept cash or check I thankfully happened to have a check in my wallet but I typically don't have them on me.

Radon Safety LLC quoted the sellers $1398.00 for the installation. I received the check at closing for the work to be completed. When the radon company tech came out, he said it would be an additional $300.00 because he had to hire another company to core a hole in my foundation. He then had to make a call to coordinate with the other company to set up another appt when they were both available. I had to take another day off of work, but they both showed up and the job was completed in about 2 hrs. At the very least, they should have requested what type of foundation the home had before quoting the work. I called the office to tell them they should honor the quote, and I was told by Amanda that the extra cost was "unavoidable". It was ABSOLUTELY AVOIDABLE had they quoted the job accurately! Not happy that I had to pay the added charge out of my pocket when I could have received the entire amount from the sellers. Beware of the extra charges from this company.

Post install, we were left with a radon tester and were told to give them a call if we experienced any issues (such as the system making a loud noise). Mountain Man used a 10,000lb forklift to raise the trailer so they can weld multiple brackets on my crossmember. They know how to get the job done, no job is too small or big for them. Before purchasing the property I had called to get a rough estimate of the cost from these folks. They answered all my questions and were super friendly. Upon purchasing he house I called back told them the exact address and they told me that they had reviewed the property months earlier for another perspective buyer. Jim and jimmy showed up and provided me with the comprehensive report of the property that the previous guy had paid for, a super nice and super honest thing to do. Eddie showed up, did the work in the exact time quoted, and left my house cleaner than I gave it to them. They installed the system in our sump pump pit. After the installers left, our sump pump was not working and the pit was filling up with water. I reached out to Joe, our salesman and left messages for him. My husband called one of the installers and said the sump pump is not working and we are worried that our basement will flood. His response: Maybe you need a new sump pump! No offer to come and look at the installation! Finally my husband got a hold of someone the next day (Joe never did return my calls) and a different installer was sent out. Guess what? We did not need a new sump pump! The installers had the float stuck under the system and it was repaired. Second issue: We were left a second radon test to do after the installation. It was mailed in on August 6, 2025 and we never received the results of that second test. I called Protect Environmental on August 26 and was told that Joe would call me back. Guess what?
