We had a great experience here with a group of six. The best part was the variety on the menu--it was nice being able to get a solid mix of Thai dishes and fresh sushi at the same table. The lunch menu is a really good value if you go during the day. It is also super accommodating for families. My kids loved the sushi, and the kitchen was awesome about making custom rolls to order based on what they actually like to eat. The staff was super nice, welcoming, and attentive the whole time. Back again for Happy hour. Loved the choices but decided on hot and crazy Udon noodle which is served with soup, gyoza and drink . Spicy as advertised without burning my tongue. My wife ordered the sushi boat for one and my eight-year-old daughter and I ordered the Mexican roll, shrimp tempura, and California roll. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious! We ordered a take out meal for dinner. We got the chicken panang curry and it was phenomenal. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, still crunchy and the curry had a great flavor. The chicken was a rubbery texture but it tasted good. We also ordered fried chicken with spicy noodles and it was the star of the night. The chicken was absolutely delicious and the thick noodles cooked to perfection. Lastly, we had a spicy tuna roll. The roll was good, the sushi was fresh. Service was fast and our order was nice and hot when we picked it up within only 15 minutes of ordering. Everything is just really good at this place. I had the jb roll and the chicken pad Thai. It was nice and flavorful and peanutty the way I expect it to be. Food overall is just good, the service is also very good, and the vibe is also very good. There's absolutely nothing I could complain about this place for. We have gluten free, kids, and vegetarians in our crew and they were able to accommodate everyone in our group. We started with some shared small plates including both a spicy and non-spicy mussel dishes, spicy corn cakes, sashimi sushi, sweet potato and veggie sushi, fried tofu, and chicken wings. Wings came out sizzling hot and delicious. The corn cakes didn't sound that good to me but were actually amazing. Sushi was fresh and delicious. For mains we shared a few dishes including the short rib and ramen noodle curry, special duck soup, pad Thai, duck and noodles, and a few other things. Again everything was good, although I'd say the duck and noodles was just ok (fried chicken was better) but noodles, sauce, and bok choy were very good. My son had the steamed gyoza dumplings app and enjoyed it. Portions were also very fair. My GPS was super misleading because it almost turned me into an office building center. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, simple and zen. Waitresses work in synced with one another which I love. Popped in for lunch on a Tuesday and have to say I was shocked by how busy they are. Another great find thanks to Yelp! Although I did have to call them as I wasn't sure they had inside dining. They are only open for lunch 4 days a week, but if you're in the area then, this restaurant has a lot of options for a good value. All the lunch specials include a salad, miso soup, and 2 fried gyoza (dumplings). And I don't mean a choice of one of these...but all three of them! We came in and they were very busy. All the booths were occupied so we got a table in the middle of the room. We were immediately given menus, and a carafe of ice water. After we ordered, it seemed like in no time we received a piping hot bowl of miso soup, the two gyoza in a small dish with a sweet sauce, and a ginger dressing salad. All were delivered at once. My husband got their sushi set. This had a California roll and 4 pieces of sushi chosen by the chef. I remember tuna and salmon and there were two other types of fish. I had their cashew nuts with chili sauce. I chose shrimp for my protein. It was slightly spicy. Veggies included mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, squash, and scallions. A mound of white rice was on the side of the plate. It was good. So put together organized efficient service, a fast kitchen, tasty, well prepared food, a filling combo of value added extras, and you've got a winner. I'm sure we will be back as there are lots more items on their menu that I'd like to try. read more

I had high hopes for Shiitake Asian Bistro, given its 4.5/5 Yelp rating after 99 reviews (around late December 2022). Unfortunately, it was just average at best. The portions were pretty huge, but that's not important to me. The best part of the meal was the sake. The shrimp salad was bland and looked like they just threw some shrimp in with a light sauce on top of iceberg lettuce. The dumplings were good but the sauce was pretty bland and watery. My shiitake duck was dry; the crispy chicken was probably the best dish we had. I saw a few huge wooden "boats" of sushi served to tables around me. Again, seemed lot a ton o' food for one person to consume. Granted, maybe Christmas night is not the best time to dine at a restaurant, but I had expected something better given Shiitake's Yelp rating. The overall blandness of the food may be due in part to the patrons; many kind older folks who "don't like spicy." Still, I think Shiitake is better than most of the other really tired, uninspired Chinese joints in the area preferred by retirees. There are so many great Thai and Japanese restaurants in SoFlo, but somehow the Chinese food scene is mediocre, which is a bit of a mystery to me. read more

I often agree simply because it's literally a two minute drive when I'm visiting Delray. PS. NEVER try to call and place an order. This last time they left us on hold for 20 minutes. This last time literally was just dry And tasted rancid with no sauce on it whatsoever. There were a few crushed peanuts on the side. I will not be trying it again. Finally found another great Thai restaurant in the heart of Boca! I arrived with low expectations, but was truly blown away by the amazing food! I had the pork belly app which was melt in your mouth delish, the crispy duck with mixed veggies and my friend had the beef ribs with veggies. We both loved our dishes! The flavors were vibrant and everything was so fresh and most importantly not doused in grease. Delicious food. I got the unagi donburi bowl which came with miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing. The dressing was the best I've ever had, with enough of a punch of fresh ginger to make my eyes water. The unagi donburi was beautifully presented and did not make it home -- I ate it ALL! My friend got the crispy pork belly and wonton entree and it also looked beautiful and tasted delicious. The service was gracious, kind, and everyone worked in harmony, which was absolutely lovely. This was our first time there. I read the reviews and thought, "wow" this place sounds great. What a disappointment! I don't understand why people like this place. The service was horrible. No greet when we arrived. A waitress in the rear point to a table signaling us to sit down. Slow and inattentive service with forgetting our appetizers. No table touch. I just wanted to update my previous review. This place has only gotten better. The service staff are some of the nicest people I have ever met. The ambiance is very calm and cozy and the wait has never been too bad for me (20 min max on a busy weekend night). The food is still absolutely fantastic. It is the best sushi I have ever had and the quality has not changed at all. Their appetizers are also amazing as are all of the entrees I have had. It has now been about 4 years and my family continues to visit at least once a week, usually more. I could not recommend a restaurant more than this one. read more

More like a 4.5! Went for lunch and ordered poke nachos, garlic fried rice with salmon, and the dragonroll shi set Started with the poke nachos. It looks rather green but underneath all the green, promise there is tuna. They dressed it with spicy mayo and eel sauce, garnished with seaweed shreds and scallions. I think they fried up wonton wrappers or it's something similar to chips served on padthai, either way, had a great light crisp to them! Definitely recommend! Ordering off the lunch menu, we get a salad, miso soup and 2 gyoza (big W)! Miso soup was nice and warm. Gyoza was nice and crispy! (I wish they'd serve it on the side of the sauce --I'm not much of a sauce person) and salad was salad ! The set came with salmon, tuna and hamachi sushi. The hamachi was a bit fishier than I would like it to be, but the tuna and salmon were good! The dragon roll was amazingggg beautiful presentation. Normally, when I get a dragon roll, it's served rather stale because they prefry the shrimp tempura. This roll was nice and warm and CRISPY! Fresh tempura in my roll!!! Yasssss!!! I've been waiting for this day!!! Definitely recommend!! The garlic drive rice had a nice smoky taste to it as it was topped with, in pretty sure, is teriyaki salmon. It taste like teriyaki sauce.
