We ordered takeout for a family dinner at this Khao location. We ordered our personal dishes with "Medium Spiciness" which is normal for us when ordering Thai food...except in this case the food was so spicy, it was inedible. We even had other family members that enjoy spiciness to try our dishes and everyone agreed it was way too hot to enjoy. Not sure if this was a "one off" preparation for them but I'm giving them a charitable 3 Star review because my nephew and his girlfriend both enjoyed their dishes that I had ordered Mild spicy for them. We ordered takeout from here for the first time on the whim of a strong sushi craving and were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the boat for 1 for myself, and much to my surprise, my toddler ended up helping me finish it. The fish was absolutely delicious and fresh. Last month my friend and I stopped in for lunch. We planned on meeting for lunch a few stores down, but that place unexpectedly closed. Everything happens for a reason, as we found Khao and wound up having such a wonderful meal. The lunch menu has a good selection of Sushi and Thai dishes, all of which are fairly priced. Khao is a new family owned business, that I believe opened during the summer. They only use locally sourced ingredients to create wonderfully authentic dishes. During this visit we both ordered off of the Thai menu and it was fabulous, but next time I will try a few of their sushi rolls. I'm not sure if our server was an owner, but he welcomed us in for lunch and didn't rush us, which was appreciated, as the restaurant is quite small. They do a tremendous amount of take-out, as we noticed several people coming in to place and pick-up take-out orders. The Thai lunch specials include soup or salad, rice and a spring roll. The small salad was fresh and I loved the ginger dressing. I picked shrimp as my protein and matched it up with the fresh garlic sauce with stir-fried veggies. This was excellent. The crunchy spring roll was very good as well. I really enjoyed my lunch at Khao and I actually plan on going back this weekend to pick-up some take-out. Khao is a good choice for an affordable neighborhood Japanese/Thai restaurant. The Tonkotsu Ramen was pretty good. It had a kick. Probably the ginger? Thai food was decent, nothing outstanding. I had plans & was expecting to go someplace else for lunch. This Thai sushi restaurant opened in July and it looked like a good alternative. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant looked clean, our waiter was friendly & attentive, and lunch was delicious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Happily we weren't rushed we were able to sit and chat for two hours. There was a lovely lunch menu. One side was sushi and the other Thai. The lunch specials were reasonably priced and came with a spring roll and a choice of soup or salad. Most of the lunch specials had a choice of protein. I ordered the pad Thai with shrimp and a salad. Portions were generous and everything was delicious. Khaki Thai & Sushi is an interesting combination, but not a master of either. The duck ramen was a nice duck soup but oddly did not have ramen noodles, and the egg was not marinated (it was just a boiled egg). The basil duck was tasty and crispy but had no spice. The sushi was fine. My in-laws enjoyed their pineapple fried rice. Service is good and friendly. We had an excellent lunch at this new restaurant that has only been open for a few days. We met the owner, Nat, who's family previously owned another restaurant in the area. Naturally, we received very good, friendly and personable service. The restaurant is easily found by its suite number, although the marquee still was showing the former restaurant's name there. Inside is a small sushi bar and regular dining tables. The lunch menu has a lot of choices. In addition, there is their regular menu with both Thai and Japanese offerings. I ordered their panang curry with shrimp. Lunches come with your choice of soup or salad. We both chose the salad. This was mixed greens with a very good carroty ginger dressing. Nat asked me about my preferred spice level. This curry starts out at about a 1 or 2, so I decided to have it as is without adding a higher level. This turned out to be perfect for me -- a touch of a kick without making me cry. The curry was very, very good. This version had green beans, red and green peppers, kaffir limes leaves and coconut milk along with five shrimp. It is served with a spoon to add in the white rice (in a heart shape on the plate) and to spoon up the sauce -- which you will want to do. Also, the curry came with a small fried spring roll and sweet dipping sauce. My husband had one of their sushi lunches called "Birds Rock". He chose one with three rolls. There were two small rolls -- one with tuna and one with salmon. Although the photo shows a larger number of these rolls, the lunch usually comes with 4 pieces of each. In addition, there was a 5-piece large Mexican roll. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal, as well. On the way out, we stopped by a table with a couple who had ordered quite a lot of food just to see what they had. Everything looked wonderful -- from the special house sushi roll with multiple types of fish to the roast pork bao buns, from a grilled pork skewers dish to the very large bowl with duck ramen. We got some ideas for future as these are some favorites. We wish the restaurant and Nat well in this new endeavor. We look forward to returning in the very near future to try more of their menu. read more

What a welcome surprise to find this Wonderful restaurant and enjoy a spectacular meal! We were greeted and welcomed by Nat, the restaurant owner, who invited us to be seated and promptly delivered a Lunch Menu and the Full House menu of Japanese and Thai dishes, that not only look enticing but actually are very delicious! I chose the J12- Birds Rock from the Lunch menu Sushi section. This is a combination of Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and a Mexican Roll. My starter choices were soup or salad ... I went with the salad which was a nice salad with Ginger dressing. (I liked the dressing so much, I kept my bowl to dip some of my sushi pieces in). My wife enjoyed her Curry selection which had the perfect heat level for her palate. Other couples were having their lunches and enjoying everything as well as we did! Nat stopped by several times to check on us and after we finished our meals we chatted about his newest venture and found out about his (and his family's) restaurant ventures in South Florida. Where do we begin from the moment you walk in, you are welcomed with open arms. It is so cute and authentic with the decor and the family atmosphere is wonderful. We know the food is freshly made to order, even if you have any dietary guidelines. HORRIBLE tasteless food. The meat in the mixed combo drunken noodle was all hard and chewy (chicken and piece of beef and two shrimp's. There was no pork in there and was supposed to be). Portions were skimpy. Spring roll was overcooked, tasteless and greasy as can be! Cheap quality sushi as well as meats! Stirfry dish with mixed vegetables was gross, tough shrimp and sauce was tasteless and watered down. It was a two for me and done with that place! MUCH BETTER LOCAL places! Just tried a new restaurant in the Publix shopping center at Jog & Lake Ida, Khao Thai & Sushi. Only opened for 3 days. The owner is a charming young man who is very personable and attentive. Very nice menu. I had takeout. I tried the Sashimi Appetizer, 8 pieces, Chef's choice , very fresh and nice size portions. First time, the sashimi was on top of ice is a plastic bag to keep it cold. Also I had the Soft-Shelled Crab, 2 fried and served with ponzu sauce, very good . Lately the Seaweed Salad, Wakame Seasoned Seaweed, also very good. Definitely worth trying. Had a very early lunch the other day and was the first customer in store. They always have amazing service. I got the fried rice with pineapple, cashews and pork with a Thai tea. Love this dish! The worst Thai meal I've ever had. Massaman curry: unbelievably sweet in the most terrible way. Tempura udon: all the tempura was submerged in the broth by the time it was brought out. Everything was soggy, see pics. The soy broth was tasteless with no depth. Tom Yum noodle: the instant ramen I bought from Asian market tastes better than this. Noodles were overcooked. Broth has tiny bit potential but I was too disappointed to even comment further. Service was good but I couldn't eat the service.. Will not be back and certainly not recommend. read more

Lunched at Khao Thai which opened today in the Publix shopping center at Lake Ida and Jog. It occupies the space that formerly was Sabai Thai. It's owned by the very friendly Nat Makhamohen and his parents. Lunched on guay tiew, a noodle soup with duck in a flavorful broth. Had to kick up the spicing that Nat kindly provided. The signage still says Sabai Thai but the decor is all new and tasteful. read more

As a native NY sushi lover, I feel obligated to review Khao sushi, as, IMO, five stars is way too high. While their fish is okay, it's nothing near five star quality. The spicy tuna roll is just mediocre tuna with a little chili sauce -they don't add scallions, avocado, cucumber, etc. We had to use our own mayo. The ginger is probably the worst tasting ginger I've ever tried. #unedible. Tastes like it was soaked in a chemical bath. I would upload pics but yelp still hasn't figured out how to allow .HEIC pics and I'm too lazy to convert. I know it's not New York, but you'd think being so close to the ocean would warrant better tasting fish. Even their nori is a bit off. They can do better. read more

Khao is the new Thai and sushi restaurant in Delray Beach located in the San Marco Plaza. We started off with spring rolls and Thai salad. Our main courses were blazing shrimp and cashew nut with beef. As filling and delicious as these dishes were we decided to try the donut dessert, absolutely outstanding. My two sons (ages 8 and 10), my wife and I had dinner at Khao this evening- and it was awesome! The dumplings were delicious for the boys, my wife and I split the red curry with chicken, and we had three sushi rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh and spiced right. The owner, who waited on our table, was patient with our questions and service was prompt. The owner is a second-generation restaurant owner and is friendly and kind- we had good conversation during and after dinner. All in all, we're happy to recommend Khao and we're happy we just found our new go-to sushi and Thai restaurant. read more
