I really like this place, been coming for a year now. They do a great job at shaping and maintaining my brows. However I have to take a star off because they're not the best with appointments. They really push making an appt on their website, which is awesome. Makes it a lot easier than calling or walking in. But when you get inside, you sign in on a sheet of paper and just mark whether or not you had an appointment or if you're just a walk-in. The girls NEVER check the sheet to see who's next or who circled that they have an appointment. They just call your turn in order that you walked in. So more often than not, I'm waiting 20 min past my appointments for my turn because of walk-in customers who got here before me. Not rly fair and kinda makes appointments useless. read more

I will never go anywhere else. I refuse to. The only time you ever go anywhere else is when you are unsatisfied with what you are currently getting. I never get less than 100 from Shila or her staff. I usually prefer Shila only because we go back to almost a decade when I came in as a teenager with furry brows. However, today was one of the days I forgot that Shila works at her other location. I'm on this side for a good portion of the day so I thought I'll just let the staff do a quick clean up today. Mona was FABULOUS. #minishila right there! Her technique is quick, her eyes must be sharp cause I didn't think I needed that much of a clean up, and her hands are light. threading yes, very great work. Now heres the tip. Tint and eyelash extensions I do not reccomend getting done from this place. The eyelash extensions will start to fall off after a day or so and continue to do so with in 5days. The tint is not great. I have gotten it done a few times and its always a little dark but after a day or so it lightens but still looks good on day 1. well I'll insert the pic. it's way too dark and just looks crazy. it reminds me of the glasses with the big black eyebrows attached. It's my bday and I look crazy. Not something I'd deem professional work. She took before pics but opted not to take an after because of the outcome yet charged me full price. This is only towards the only other employee working for Shila. I called and specifically asked if I needed to make an appointment and I clearly asked for a 330 appointment with Shila. She said there is no need just come in as a walk in. Then all of Shila's other appointments walked in and I was told I had to wait. Very bad communication. I've heard nothing but good things about Shila and was really looking forward to getting my brows done by her since my girl Laxmi is out. however her one employee working today changed my whole opinion of the establishment. When a client asks to set an apt to secure a spot you should probably say okay and select an appointment time instead of saying just walk in and expect me to wait an hour. read more

Moved here from San Jose about a year ago and couldn't find a good place to wax my eyebrows. I stumbled upon Shila's and haven't looked back. Her prices have gone up a little due to COVID but it's still worth it, $12. You can make online appts which makes it so much easier to work it out with your schedule. They do wipe down the chairs and clean utensils after each person. Masks are required for both artist and customer. I like to see Shila when she is available because she takes her time and is quick and efficient. I've seen other artists at the salon and they are ok too. I've gotten my eyebrows threaded here twice already and overall, it's been a decent experience. The first time around the lady tried to shape it according to my makeup, which I appreciated. One eyebrow came out really good and she didn't strip away from the thickness of my eyebrow as requested. However, the other eyebrow was slightly different than the other. The second time around, I got a different lady and she made my eyebrows too thin. Also, when I was trying to point out a hair that she missed when trimming the length, she ended up threading more hairs instead of just trimming that one strand. Overall, my eyebrows now match, but they're just too thin for my liking. I'm willing to give this place one more try, but this time I'm going to wait for Shila. After reading everyone else's reviews and seeing the amount of people waiting strictly for her, I think it will be worth the wait. read more

I love coming here to get my eyebrows done! Shila always does an amazing job and I'm always happy with the results! The entire staff is great and they give each person the attention they deserve. Everyone is required to wear masks and if the wait is too long, they ask you to wait outside or in your car in order to maintain social distancing. I usually just walk in and have no problems being seen, but sometimes there is a bit of a wait, so if you have a tight schedule I recommend calling in advance! I've been coming here for years so 1 star feels fair since there are people here who know what they're doing. But would give 0 stars for my experience today if I could. Walked in and was told to sit in a chair with a woman I've never seen working there. She looked unsure of herself but I trusted that she must know what she was doing, so I told her upfront I didn't want to change the shape or make my brows thinner, I just wanted to clean them up. She started doing my brows and I started to feel them being over plucked so even mid threading I told her I really didn't want them thinner and that it felt like she was taking off a lot. When she finished my right eye I asked to see what it looked like and my brow was very thin. Shila walked over and acknowledged that it was thin and that even she had told the girl that I didn't want that. She asked someone else to finish my other eye. The new tech asked if I wanted her make my other brow the same shape or if I wanted to wait for my right eyebrows to grow back. I didn't want to ruin both of them so I chose to leave the shop with uneven brows. We all make mistakes and I can understand that. I do, however, have a problem with the fact that the person doing my brows seemed to be new / training and no one asked me if I was still ok with her doing my brows. I did not sign up to be someone's test dummy and I believe if you're coming in for a service being done to your face, it would be common courtesy to ask your costumer if they're comfortable with an inexperienced technician. The original tech was apologetic and I wasn't charged for the service. But I will never be back. I'd advise people to stay away from a business that doesn't see how letting someone who is new practice on one someone's face, without telling them ahead of time, is a problem. read more

Shila is awesome. And patient. I haven't had my brows threaded or plucked in years. I usually take care of them myself. However I wasn't in love with the shape I had recently and having just had a baby I had no time or desire to do them myself. I let them go wild for about a month and a half and came in to have them reshaped. I requested they stay as thick as possible and showed her a few example images and she nailed it. She also was very patient when I asked to sit up for a second because my eyes are very sensitive to bright lights; especially when watering. My brows look great and I literally walked in and out in about 15 minutes tops. I will never go anywhere else to get my brows shaped; Shila definitely had my business. read more

This is my new place for eye brow threading! I loved threading because I love a thicker brow, but after growing out my brows some places would still go too thin and not once have I ever been asked how I like my brows..until this place. I did a walk-in with my 3 year old in tow and although I didn't catch her name (I was so nervous having my kiddo with me) she asked me how I liked my brows and it was no big deal that my kid was there (sigh of relief). CUSTOMER SERVICE: Walked in today at 2:25 with only one other person there. I had to leave by 3 because I had somewhere to be but figured it was plenty of time to accommodate 2 customers in that time. I asked if Shila was with a customer because I didn't see her. She said "no, but she'll be out soon." So I waited.. She came out at 2:35 and helped the lady before me - finished in 15 min. A third lady walked in just 2 minutes before she could finish with her. I expected to be next but she called the girl that just walked in saying she had an appointment. I told her I'd been waiting for 30 min & had somewhere to be. She said "you can come back." Either do appointments only, or walk in only, or have the decency to let your walk ins know you have an appt at a certain time so they're not blind-sided AFTER already waiting for 30 min in an EMPTY room. When I asked her "you couldn't tell me when I walked in 30 minutes ago you have an appt after her?" She said "now you know." COVID SANITATION: One of the employees wears the same pair of gloves to handle cash/when customer's pay & handle customers' threading - no sanitizing/hand washing or changing gloves in between. They also clean the chair they thread in after each customer but not the chairs in the waiting area. COST: Before COVID, it was $8 for eyebrow threading ($10 with 20% off coupon with Yelp check in)- now it's $12 and the coupon is no longer available. No point in making an appointment and requesting a certain person because they are always busy and don't honor the appointments nor who you picked to do the service. Going to Shila's was my first time ever trying threading. A lot of my friends and coworkers recommended threading and to def go to Shila's on Eastern. The lady who did my brows did an AMAZINGGGG job! She guided me through all of it. She also made my brows perfect and even how I like it! I've gotten so many compliments on my brows ever since. This was first time receiving eyebrow threading so I was extremely scared. When you check in, there is a box to indicate to them other this is the first time you have received threading. Shelia had me hold the skin around NY brows taunt so that way it would hurt less. She recommended that I come in once new growth started to appear and said the more threading I received the less it would hurt. I really appreciated her taking it easy on me because I was in pain. The environment is spare and clean. It has a nice seating area with music and magazines. The ladies there work fast. 10/10 would go again! read more

I come here quite often and it has been rather hit or miss as of lately. I used to only see Sheila but awhile back she did my eyebrows and I had an awful experience. She didn't remove everything and I had to go home and pluck the rest. Also I had a red pimple which then turned into an ingrown hair. Ouch. I decided to give it another shot and the next time i was there Sheila was so busy and I had no time to waste so i went to see another threader. She did a terrible job and I had to pluck so much extra hair. I decided that I wouldn't return but it is so convenient and even though sometimes the threading isn't great they have never messed up my brow shape so I keep going back! I went in around 10:05 in the morning on Monday and thankfully I was one of the first people there so I got to have Sheila and she did a great job. I wish it would be more consistent. After combing through the reviews on here, I gave it a go yesterday. I'm very familiar with eyebrow threading, but I've bounced around a lot because I never felt like I was getting the perfect job done. My last threading experience had my brows looking a little thin, so after several months of letting them fill in, I took myself out to get them threaded. When I walked into the shop, there was no one in there! I was prepared to wait and thinking "score!" Because all of the reviews claim a wait time. The shop was clean, they had Ellen playing on the TV, and some really beautiful Indian music playing. The girl behind the counter (I can't remember her name, it started with an R!) Was very welcoming and when she sat me down, she asked if I've ever been threaded before and really listened to what I wanted. Once we had a game plan, she then suggested that she will do one brow, have me check it, and then do the other. I loved that!! She got started and made great small talk with me, and it was so gentle I almost forgot where I was! That has never happened to me before! My only qualm about the service is the use of bath and body works hand sanitizer on my face, but next time I'll just bring my own stuff and ask her to use it. My brows look flawless and i feel great about them. The cost was only $10, a steal in my opinion, for the excellent service they are offering. And she gave me a punch card!
