Shelby, owner of Shine Event Design, was such a pleasure to work with. She spent hours on the phone with us talking about every detail that we wanted to include in our wedding to put together a detailed quote for us that was very reasonable in price. Shelby went above and beyond our expectations to make sure the florals in our wedding were perfect. She provided all our centerpieces, bridal party flowers, chuppah/chuppah flowers, and other various design elements. I sent her my vision board and hoped for the best as I wouldn't see the final product until the wedding. We hired Shelby for our daughters wedding as day of coordinator and for flowers. She took a lot of time talking to both our daughter and myself about what we needed. She did beautiful flowers for the wedding party, tables, and wherever we asked. She managed the flow of the day magnificently. Everything went smoothly and organized. She prevented any "fires" developing, made sure we were aware of things that might be changed before the wedding to keep a smooth flow and successful event. Shelby is wonderful! We selected the full planning service so she helped from start to finish. We were planning our wedding from the East Coast which is what prompted us to get a coordinator. The entire process could not have been easier. Shelby was incredibly easy to work with and was always willing to jump on the phone to chat. She created a detailed timeline for the year leading up to the big day so we knew when to get different vendors scheduled. Her recommendations for vendors were top notch, especially catering. She got a sense of who we were and the things we liked and tailored every recommendation accordingly - she's never short on ideas. We were nervous about booking a venue without seeing it in person but Shelby gave us FaceTime tour of each venue we wanted to see and was very candid in her feedback of how the reception would work for each venue, given our high guest count. She was reasonable with helping us budget the reception and letting us know where we could cut costs. Overall we could not have been happier. We've heard planning a wedding was stressful but with Shelby, this was simply not the case. Everything was perfect. Despite all of our communications being long-distance, we were very comfortable with telling her what aspects of the planning process were confusing or stressing us out and she was always patient, understanding, and had solutions to everything. Our families afterwards told us they felt very lucky that they didn't have to worry about a thing for our wedding day - thanks to her, they were able to enjoy the day to the fullest. We also used Shelby for florals, and wow, everything was gorgeous. Neither of us had a super strong sense of what we wanted initially so Shelby started by laying out different possibilities and pointing out differences in various design styles that we wouldn't have picked up on otherwise. She gave us some time to think about it and once again got a sense for what kind of designs we wanted. For this aspect, she helpfully laid out various options at different budget ranges. You will not find anyone more intelligent, organized, well networked, caring, skillful, observant, and deeply experienced to work on one of the most important events of your life. My partner and I needed help to plan and execute a party/reception at a local park to celebrate our marriage. We wanted something unique to our relationship and values. It was difficult to find a wedding planner who wasn't awash in heteronormative notions and practices to help us. (Though she could pull off any type of event.) Shelby kept apace of our meticulous needs and wants. Since we had been in Seattle a short time, she was a literal gold mine of resources. She knew who to call and how to negotiate with vendors. She was excellent with both the macro overlook of the Gathering and the micro details, including financial considerations. Everyone she connected us to were amazing people and skilled professionals. Our Gathering was magic!
