Food we ordered was delicious, no doubt. We ordered: Shumai****************best ones I had in years. Mexican Roll**********best roll in da house. Tokontsu Ramen*****broth needs work. Too much noodles is drowning the flavor, and stingy on the meat and vegetables. Eel Roll*****************soggy rice, over sauced. It's not what I expected. Overall the joint is like being in some Japanese resto minus the live chicken on the rooftop... would love to give 5 stars but the server/waitress was in a hurry and trying get our plates while we are still enjoying it. She was wiping the table next to us and rice and stuff was flying everywhere. Interior has lots of modern wooden panels, small seating and loud fellow customers. Terrible customer service! We walked in, waiting for a table, employee said no table now, we cannot sit you, I asked to go on a wait list and he walked away and didn't come back! Chinese family of 3 walked in and the employee helped them right in front of us!! Thank goodness they didn't get my money!! Not surprised if they close down!! read more

The black garlic ramen was good, it had a good flavor, the pork charsu was rather bland. My boyfriend's tonkotsu ramen was pretty bland as well. They do give quite a bit of noodles in their ramen, the noodles were cooked perfectly. My son had the Karaage chicken from the kids menu, this was very good and a good portion size as well Service was not bad, very friendly however it was slow even when the restaurant was not full. Had a nice dinner with my family, and we decided to order boba teas to go. We paid, and while my family went to the car, I stayed at our table to wait for the drinks. A group of four came in and was waiting to be seated. Then our server came over and asked me to move to the bar so the group could sit at our table. Honestly, it felt a little awkward and kind of petty. I had already paid and was just waiting on the rest of my order. It just didn't sit right with me, they took my money and were quick to try and move me out so they could seat new people. I get that they want to turn tables, but I was still a customer and felt like I was being rushed out. read more

Had dinner here on Sunday, 10/05. Very disappointed in the overall experience. With new owners there come big changes. First they no longer have an ABC license, which is frustrating. Just be open and honest about this. The restaurant was also fairly dirty, and food timing was very poor with poorly made sushi coming out 10 minutes earlier than the Ramen. The ramen had different noodles, veg, and a poorer quality of broth than was there previously. All in all very disappointing experience and will not be going back. read more

I was looking forward to this place a coworker said it was good. Service was friendly, happy people inside! I ordered my favorite, Takoyaki. I was disappointed that it barely had any octopus in it at all. Really small pieces just enough so they could say that it was there. We also tried the spicy salmon roll, & the spicy tuna roll, both of which had some kind of red sweet vinegar sauce poured on them making the rice soggy. Me, my sister, and my grandpa went to try this place after I have been eyeing it for months, and it was exactly everything I was hoping for. I got the spicy tonkotsu and it was amazing and full of flavor. My sister had the beef bowl and she really liked it as well, and my grandpa got the chicken teriyaki and he also really liked it. My wife and I took our three grandchildren there because they wanted Ramen. Yhe waitstaff took our order. It took quite a while for an appetizer of Edamame beans, about 30 minutes. Our order then came in shifts. First my wife's order came 20 minutes after the appetizer and then a dish we did not order. My meal came 5 minutes later. One grand child's order came 15 minutes later, and then we waited 15 more for the 2nd grandchild order. We then waited another 20 minutes for the final dish. It turns out they gave my grandchildrens orders to the wrong table. The food was fairly good but I could not get the bad taste of poor service out of mouth. read more

I tried Shinji during their "soft opening" and the ramen was goid and I decided to go back last night with my husband. The service was good but......we started with the "mad tuna" roll and I'm not exaggerating- it was served to us in less than a minute. Not good! I wonder if they pre-formed their rolls? Flavorless - the rice was mushed together so tightly that you couldn't detect the individual grains and everything was ice cold. And it was $16.95. Then we each tried a bowl of ramen. Once again we got the food within a minute of ordering. Bland broth and the noodles were not the right consistency. I'm sad to write this as we typically drive up to Cary (Noodle Boulevard) or Raleigh (Ton Noodle) for our Ramen fix and we were hoping to find a novice local place. Worst service. However, the food was very good. Came here a couple weeks ago... I was very disappointed with my order. Service was poor with the waitress basically ignoring me after the food was brought to the table. Never got a refill of my water so I sat there dry for half the meal. I ordered spring roll and 2 ramens soup. She don't review your order. I waited for 45 mins .The only ok stuff from my order was the spring rolls, she brought the wrong dish to me and another ( i ordered 2 ramen soups but i got the rice bowl!?!) , not sure she understood that I said?!? Extremely rude, strangest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I highly recommend avoiding Shinji and here's why... I stopped in at Shinji for lunch with my 2 daughters (age 6 and 4) and my mother. My mother and I weren't very hungry but my daughters were. We had been to Shinji before so we decided to try it again. I ordered two kids karaage chicken meals for my two daughters. An appetizer and mochi for me and my mother as we weren't all that hungry. Moments after the woman took my order she came back to the table to tell me that I'm not allowed to share. Confused by this, I asked her what she was talking about. She said, "you ordered kid meals to share for everyone." (Not true) I stumbled over my words as I attempted to explain that I ordered two kids meals for my two kids, an app, and a dessert... she then doubled down and told me that I'm not allowed to share... to which again I reiterated that I'm not going to share... she kept saying no no, then she angrily walked away to grab a menu and brought it to me.. I felt very uncomfortable, so I asked for the food to go. So apparently if you order food for your kids, you will be treated like you're stealing from them. Not only did I order food for my kids but I also ordered an app and dessert. Absolutely ridiculous and uncomfortable dining experience. Maybe they don't realize that this is a very kid friendly town and this type of behavior towards families/mothers will not go over well for the longevity of their business. read more

Food was great a little pricey. Service was a little slow. I know they were busy but we got passed multiple times, watching tables that had sat way after us get water and order before we had been remembered. We sat at the bar, which was a nice height even for our toddler in a highchair. It's definitely a small place but the decor and setup is cute! We had karage, ramen(which I forgot to take a picture of) and 2 rolls. As well as matcha boba and mango milk tea boba, which were both amazing. Sushi tasted great, husband said broth in ramen was a little lacking, but still good, karage seemed a small amount for price. Will definitely be back to try more items! read more

Shinji is incredible. From the service, to the food, and atmosphere, this is my favorite ramen restaurant. Food was great, I didn't notice the price. For really good food I don't care how much it costs. The service was excellent. My waitress was attentive and could tell when I needed something (more wasabi, water, etc.). When my waitress was busy another waitress checked on me to make sure everything was OK. I had the Vegan Ramen and a Vegan sushi. read more
