Been coming here for years. I really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. The prices are reasonable, the quality is excellent and the presentation is great too. Any time you ask for changes to a menu item it's never a problem, and the wait staff is quick and polite. If you have a group of four get the Viking boat - it's a reasonable price to split and you get a great amount of food, from across the menu. read more

This place is awesome. Great quality at a reasonable price. The sushi rice is the best i have had. The menu is not the ubiquitous menu you find at every sushi joint. They have the stand bys but some unique stuff too. I am addicted to the seafood salad and the red tuna tartare. read more

This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from work and a great place for sushi in Maple Ridge. I can only speak to their take-out service as I haven't dined in, but my experiences so far have been positive. They have an extensive menu and reasonable prices. Before I started working in the area I never had any reason to venture out to Maple Ridge, let alone eat there, but I'm happy to know good sushi exists in Maple Ridge! My favourite roll is the Golden Bridge roll ($7.95), which is a chopped scallop and cucumber roll topped with tempura eel and tobiko on top. Yummm! They have a good selection of specialty rolls along with the traditional Japanese fare (noodles, combos, tempura, salads, appetizers) The restaurant is pretty busy at lunch time so if you are ordering take out, give yourself 25-30 minutes for pick up. read more

Came in right at opening. The place is clean and a little loud. The place is decorated nicely with Japanese decor. The tables are spaced nicely. I ordered the appetizer tempura and seafood salad. Both were good in quality. The dressing for the seafood salad was a mild mustard dressing which complimented the seafood nicely. The tempura seemed a bit heavy with the batter. Here's my issue with this place. The service could've been better. I did have to ask for water and tea after waiting a bit to see if the server would check on me to see if everything is ok. Nope never happened. Mind you it got busy fast but I think this was quite typical. However, I did notice that the server did pay attention to others more so than usual. The food is good and I can see why people gave this place 5 stars. It isn't the best place for Japanese food I've been to but you're in Maple Ridge and I guess they are hard to come by here. The sushi is average, probably rate it a 3, but the delivery time was a joke. I was quoted up to 90 mins which in itself it a little crazy, but when it takes 2-1/2 hrs to arrive its the last time I will order from Shinobi. read more

Love this place! The food is always fantastic. I love the tempura roll, and the agedashi tofu is the best I've ever had. The sashimi is always so fresh. We get great service and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It can be pretty busy at peak times, so going for an early lunch or dinner is recommended. Since coming here the first time my husband and I returned numerous times because of the awesome food however the service just got progressively worse and worse. They're so rude, and have lots of attitude. They told us we can try delivery since we have a small baby and we sometimes prefer the booth over sitting at the chairs near the door, anyways we took that as a sign but decided to keep coming in, until the one day I was at home and remembered hey they deliver! Not only did she say there was a $50.00 minimum which I agreed to pay the difference if there was a shortage but after being put on hold and then denied and then they called us back to say sure they will take the basically FREE money they finally finished the order to get our address and said because we are an extra five minutes past their radius that won't deliver! What a joke! Never again with this place unless I deathly crave sushi and There is no place on earth to get sushi again read more

This place is amazing. My wife is Japanese, and does some work with a school in Maple Ridge. She currently has a 15 year old student from Japan, who was feeling a little home sick, and missing Japanese food. We decided to drive in from Surrey, and take him out for some Japanese food. Not knowing much about Japanese places in Maple Ridge, we checked out Yelp first. So glad we did! Everything was really good, the sushi roll combo re got had Cali Rolls, Dynamite rolls and spicy tuna rolls. Other than tuna rolls, the young guy had never seen these types of rolls before. There are no cali or dynamite rolls in Japan. He really liked them! And so did we. We got the deluxe sashmi platter, and it was amazing! I won't list every fish that it came with, but there was a lot, and all super fresh. The chicken karaage was so good. Boneless chicken, the way it is supposed to be, not some timy chicken wings you find at other places. Place was packed, and waitress brought our bill seconds after we were finished, and brough the credit card machine at same time. For me, that was great. I like to leave once done, and not wait around. I could see others being turned off by that though. I hope I get back to Maple Ridge again soon! read more

The food and staff are AMAZING. I think I've had almost every specialty roll. They are all amazing. Even the staff are amazing. If I do a pick up order, the waitress Christine will come up and always say hi to me individually as I'm always there at least once a week! Get the specialty rolls - don't be boring and get a california roll unless you're just starting to get used to sushi! I don't know why others would rate this place any lower than 5 stars. If you've been to places like Minami, Sushi Garden or California Sushi, you know this place is an equivalent and CHEAP. And if you find the staff rude...well that's very subjective as I've always had a great experience. You gotta remember, if they're running a busy place, don't mistake being EXTREMELY busy for being rude. Sometimes there's a line of 10 people waiting for pick up orders because that's how great they are. read more

We both had the chicken teriyaki and shared an order of tempura veggies. The chicken was excellent - tender and flavorful. The tempura batter was light and good. I would have preferred to have carrots and mushrooms too, but it was very tasty. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The food here is very good. The service? Not as good. The wait times for tables, refills, and payment are long. If you get pick-up, the wait time is usually 30-45minutes, even on a weekday. Even if you show up 50mins after your order, you still need to wait another 10-15 minutes. Regardless, the food is worth it. Their Alaska roll is fantastic. Salads are fresh. Tried most of their specialty rolls and they're all impressive. Will go back, but not if I'm super hungry and can't afford to wait. read more

Probably the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my life. I rarely go to sushi restaurants and this is probably why. As we are seated, the waitress takes our drink orders, which is totally normal. She comes back after a minute and asks if we are ready to order. No, sorry I am not, I haven't had a chance to look at the menu. After deciding what my friends and I have decided what we'd like, she gives me a little attitude because I am not familiar with the menu. My friends already know what they want. My one friend decides on the Caterpillar rolls, and I decided on the chicken teriyaki don. As she comes back with our food, she's put down California rolls. My friend politely said she asked for the caterpillar rolls, the waitress said "no you didn't, you said California rolls". My friend still being polite says no sorry I did ask for the caterpillar rolls. The waitress says oh okay I will get you the right one right away. She's goes to the back and starts screaming in Japanese so obviously she was talking about us. This is not even the tip of the iceberg. As we are going up to pay after we have finished our meal, the cashier was being so rude to my friend, it was unbelievable. I was next in line so I paid for my order, thanked them and left the restaurant. As we are walking up 224th, she yells "hey excuse me, you have to come back and pay i charged you the wrong amount". So I'm like okay, I'll go pay you the rest that I owe, but as I am walking back to the restaurant with her, she holds on to me like I'm her hostage, it was a $2 mistake! Needless to say, my friends did not tip them. I will never go back to Shinobi. And another thing, my chicken teriyaki came really fast, like they had it all pre made.
