I had an idea of what I wanted and Jose suggested that I should consider an exposed beam look with shiplap cross boards. I went with his suggestion and it turned out amazing! I was going to have him paint the wood, but it looked so beautiful, that we decided to have it stained instead. We love it and it actually keeps our house cooler in the summer. Our second project with Mesi was a complete bathroom remodel which is one of their specialties. Again Jose guided me on where to select the tile and fixtures. I selected all the tile and was ready to proceed, when Jose again made a fantastic suggestion to use a complementary tile in one section to sort of break the monotony. He is great at making subtle suggestions without telling you what to do. I love that! In both cases, Jose's crew cleaned up after each day of work which was super important to me. I'm impressed with both the speed and quality of the work done and at a very reasonable price. We are already planning to have a couple of other projects done by them because we know the work will be done right and on time.

In contrast, competitors (some also with 5 star reviews on Yelp, others referred by acquaintances) were trying to force me into their own personal plan of the project, which quite predictably involved much more than I was asking to be done or needed - along with significantly higher risk, cost, and time for me, while of course making _them_ more money. This aspect is a typical problem with Bay Area contractors, in how they try to take advantage of their customers, so one always has to use their BS-meter. After Tom and I met and spoke we shook hands and he reacted to my handshake. I told him that handshake means "do not mess with me." He saw I have lots of books and he mentioned to me a book called "the bronze horseman." It said on amazon this book is for Russia what the thorn birds was for Australia so I bought it. Tom came the next day and said he bought the book for me. He wanted a check. I stalled. He said: I will be back in couple hours to pick up the check and get the book. He came back, got his check but I got no book. I said nothing. Tuesday before the 4th he showed me again the order of the book on amazon and the order had gone to an address down by LA and he is driving down to LA over the 4th and pick it up. Sunday evening after the 4th he called and said: "my father is coming to visit from Israel and flying in to LA he will pick up the book," and will I do a review he will send me the link. Well it is another week gone by and no book and no word from Tom. Like I said: I already bought the book. I do not need Tom to buy my books just honest middle man, a true professional who knows what he says and keeps his word and that is not Tom. A businessman who does not listen to his client is a poor businessman. Why Tom Why? I do not need you to buy me books. A man at 40 should have build up some equity in his character, man-up Tom!
