Would not recommend this company for anything besides small furniture moves. Its not really meant to be a moving company for moving part of your apartment into another place. They quote you based on weight, but they have to palletize your items basically doubling the weight of the original item. Then inevitably the moving price will increase. Also once your stuff arrives, you need to unpalletize everything which is cumbersome. read more

Super frustrating company to work with. I was quoted approximately $1300 to move a couch. This company picked my 110 lb West Elm sofa and later, prior to shipping, let me know that I now owe approximately $1800 to move the couch because it had been packed and put on a pallet. I declined service at this point because they changed the price. Now it's $600 to not ship it. That includes the price for packing and disposal. I would encourage others to NOT use this company. They misrepresent the price and then try to charge an outrageous amount to not follow through on the service that they misrepresented. Buyer beware. Find another company to ship your item. This company steals from you. Now they are offering the original price to ship it, but I no longer feel comfortable with them. The cost keeps changing. Heard about this company from a friend. I needed an heirloom shipped from NY to CA. I understand these mixed reviews and was a little hesitant to reach out and use them, but I'm really glad I did. The website is what takes this down a star as it's not the most user friendly or written clearly in layperson's speak. There's an initial quote which based on the service you select, can cause the final quote to be higher which I absolutely understand the shock, surprise and frustrations in these reviews. I had called their support line to walk through the agreement in more detail to better understand what their contract states and what's expected. The people who work there are friendly and want to help out. My initial estimate did go up less than $75, however when I had gotten quotes from other providers, the overall cost was still lower than other moving companies. I will absolutely NEVER recommend or use this company again. My mother passed away and I wanted her antique curio cabinet to be shipped to my home. She lived in Texas and I am in Pennsylvania. I paid $3000 for the "white glove" delivery. The gentlemen that picked up the piece was EXTREMELY inexperienced with moving large items. I should have known then that this experience was going to go downhill. After a MONTH of waiting, I finally got the call that the curio was going to be delivered. Once it was in my home, I was told they could not unwrap it. I had to unwrap it myself only to discover broken glass and heavy damage to 2 of the doors. The doors had been pushed in so far that the door stops had snapped off along with parts of the framing. It was VERY obvious that ZERO care had taken with this very precious piece. It would have been safer and cheaper for me to just throw it in a Uhaul and transport it myself. I asked for a partial refund and was told that since I did not get the insurance they were not liable. Silly me for thinking that $3000 would get me way better care and service than I received. read more

Would recommend for moving a few pieces of furniture for a long distance. *it is very important that you know the true weight of everything you are moving* Moved my electric upright piano and 2 boxes from Chicago to Bay Area door to door. Pick up on 2/23 and received on 3/11. Super convenient. Was quoted 15k from regular moving companies due to mileage but I paid $1900 for Shipsmart. Customer service was pretty chill, answered all of my questions when needed. It costed a little more than quoted but I don't mind. PODS quoted me a little bit higher than shipsmart. I would say it is very easy if you don't have a lot to ship and you have flexible moving dates. And ofc depends on the moving company that they contract in your city read more

Update - Still can't comment on the quality of the shipping but I was called by a manager within 2 hours of posting this review. Ultimately they worked with me to lower the cost, essentially splitting the difference between their original quote and their revised quote. The issue is that they rely on the homeowner to give them an accurate weight, which is next to impossible for most people. They do not visit the customers home to give an estimate. The best I could do was to list the specific items to be shipped. Most of the overage on the cost was due to the actual weight being more then their estimated weight based on the description of the items to be shipped. If you want an accurate estimate you will need accurate weights for the items to be shipped. read more

They lost my chair that I dropped off a month ago and paid $640 for them to ship. They tried to deliver the wrong item two weeks ago and I continue to call them, I've emailed several people, I even filled out the survey from 'the president of the company' trying to g to get someone to care: no one ever calls me back, despite being promised every time I call that someone who can help will call that day. I've been emailed a couple of times back saying, 'they are investigating and will get back to me', and then no one follows up on anyway. I'm desperate to find a phone number or a way to get a hold of someone who will actually call me back or care at all. Also absolutely insulting that after this long they haven't even offered me a refund, even though they lost my property and failed to provide the service I was charged for. They won't even give me a tracking number. At this point it is just theft. Shame on them. No one there cares at all either. read more

An issue with a long distance shipping company called ship smart. Long story short, I was originally quoted $2k for a move, once they had my things at their warehouse they told me it would be $4k, and then once they had all of my stuff packed up, they came back told me it would be $8k. TLDR: shipsmart was recommended by a high-volume Bay Area realty group, and my experience with Shipsmart was SO WRETCHED that the realty group vowed to never recommend Shipsmart again. It was THAT BAD. Shipsmart scammed me on the price and carelessly ruined my most prized possession. I provided *excruciating* detail on the items I needed moved and they gave me an estimate of $4,000. They came, packed everything, moved everything into a truck, and then (only then) did they explain that the move was "a little than they expected" and charged me $8,500. What was I to do at that point? Ask them to unwrap everything and put it back where they found it? And find another company that can magically come later that same day? Please... they knew exactly what they were doing and did it with such nonchalance that it's obviously part of the handbook. The most painful part of it all: I explained that a wooden table hand-carved by my grandfather was my most prized item in the world. With their "white glove service", the careless way that they took it apart and put it back together broke important joints and stripped EVERY single screw. I now need to hire a professional to salvage it. Run away from this company! read more

Miserable. Paid $2600 to ship a totem pole from Canada to USA. They called me to collect extra fees on two occasions and then told me they couldn't actually move the item and I would need to hire a customs broker. Hmm, that seems like it was really relevant BEFORE I paid for anything--even though they assured me they could handle this no problem! Absolutely horrible! UPDATE (9/12/2019): Ship Smart's owner, John, reached out to me in September 2018 after learning more about my dissatisfaction in the service I received in May 2018. We weren't able to connect last September, but John reached out again recently and made it clear that he wanted to make things right with me. I talked with John over the phone about my experience and the issues I outlined in my initial review. John made it clear that there were mistakes made by his team and he apologized for the inconvenience and cost I had to experience as a result. To make up for it, John compensated me for those costs. Furthermore, he offered to personally overlook any shipments I may need for future relocations. I have updated my initial 1-star review to 5-stars in light of John's good faith gesture and will look to use Ship Smart again for future relocations. read more

No issues with the move, but a slight issue with the billing. (It was partially my fault). Background: I had a small shipment which included a grandfather clock. Not enough items to call the "big boys", but due to the grandfather clock I also did not trust any of the movers on uShip. I got an estimate from Ship Smart that was slightly higher than what was being offered on uShip, but substantially lower than the minimum that the "big boys" were going to charge me. IE there were no surprises. The Good: Again, no issues with the move itself, communication was great, the packing companies were professional and courteous, and everything was well packed. As I was paying a substantial (but still reasonable) shipping fee for the grandfather clock, I was expecting it to be well packed, but I was pleasantly surprised that the same attention was provided for the rest of the items. The issue: In a "normal" move the shipper comes by and inspects your bulk/heavy items, and estimates how many boxes you need, and based on that they provide a quote. Because your estimate with Ship Smart is done online, Ship Smart is highly dependent on you the customer providing the dimensions, and the estimated weight. The dimensions are easily provided, but at least in my case my estimate was way underweight (IE my shipment was heavier than what I estimated) which substantially increased my bill from the original estimate. I do not think Ship Smart was attempting to gouge me, especially as they worked with me on the price, so ultimately no harm no foul. My issue is although I do understand there are a lot of variables that Ship Smart can't predict; Ship Smart never explained charges for overages. In their defense, I never bothered to ask, but I don't do this for a living, and I was dependent on Ship Smart for oversight. In addition, if you checkout the reviews you will see that this issue has cropped up in the past, as such you would expect them to have addressed it. Saying that it's the customers responsibility to enquirer about how overages will work, so don't be like me, and ask about them before signing on the dotted line. If your estimates are way off like mine, it could help you avoid sticker shock, and the stressed that comes along with it. read more

I highly recommend using ShipSmart for your future moving needs. Having moved crossed country for the first time, ShipSmart was accommodating and responsive to our (many) questions and estimate updates as our move date neared. ShipSmart was unique compared to other moving companies, as they did not lock us into a minimum or maximum moving estimate, but remained flexible, waiting until after our shipment was picked up and on its way before giving us the grand total. They were able to provide immediate location updates once our shipment was on its way, and worked with reputable and professional local moving companies on both ends of our move (Washington, DC to Seattle). All of our shipment arrived without damage, and they wrapped and unwrapped all of our furniture for extra protection. Great group to work with, during what can be a very stressful time! read more

On August 1, 2021 Ship Smart picked up 1 room worth of items (7 boxes, my mattress, and 3 pieces of furniture) to move from Seattle to NYC. It is May 22, 2022 and I still do not have my items. The items were scheduled to be delivered on April 1, 2022 and after a vague phone call on April 1st saying they mistook my confirmation number with someone else's, my items never showed up. They delivered my mattress the next day in horrible condition, see the pictures below and have claimed my items are missing BUT THEY STILL HAVE NO UPDATE ON WHERE THEY ARE. They are communicative so I will give them that, but I have been demanding phone call updates, explanations, and have asked for the actual movers and drivers phone numbers so I can start doing my own research and to no avail. I asked for the address of the storage facility and also nothing. Ship Smart wont let me help or do my own investigation into where my items are. This last week we finally agreed to refund me for the service, but thats it! No compensation for the items lost. My entire life was in those boxes. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. In sum: made several serious mistakes delaying my shipment by 2 weeks, also charged me $250 for a mistake they made. It was so frustrating that I had to make a yelp account in hopes others don't make the mistake of choosing this service. In the span of two weeks they messed up 4 times: 1. They failed to confirm the date/time they'd pick up my boxes/items, resulting in me having to reject a delivery truck which randomly showed up at my house, completely unannounced. 2. After I rejected the delivery, they charged me a $250 fee even after admitting it was their fault. 3. After that, we scheduled the delivery for a certain date/time. When the date came, they called and rescheduled because they "had some issues with the truck". At this point my delivery has been delayed by 4 days. 4. After that, we rescheduled again, and when that new date came, they called again and had the exact same issue. At this point my delivery has been delayed by 1.5 weeks, and due to rescheduling will be delayed by a little over 2 weeks. At this point I used U-Pack and got same-day service and my overall delivery will take 1.5 weeks compared to the 3-4 weeks ShipSmart told me they'd take, for a slightly cheaper price than ShipSmart. The only pros of ShipSmart are that their customer service reps are available to talk, and that they're nice people, and that their service is a good price. read more

Moved from Croydon, PA to Los Angeles, CA end of last year. Ship smart handled our move of 24 plastic containers and a peloton bike with care and ease. The turnaround time was quick and on time! Customer service reps were professional and readily available for all my questions and concerns. Price was affordable considering the move was across country. Avoid this company at all costs. They broke the contract and acted in bad faith. They seemed to attempt to bully me into absorbing the blame for setting me up to ship 2/3 more than what I agreed to despite my doing everything I could to prevent it, and their actively making choices to make it so that all of the extra stuff was shipped. When I called them out on every maneuver they tried, and it was clear that they didn't have any actual defense, then they said they would pay me if I didn't write any bad reviews or report them to regulatory agencies! So, (from my perspective), they pretty much admitted to fraud, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and breach of contract, but then when I wouldn't shut up about it, they suddenly wouldn't pay me. Dishonest, slimy, and sociopathic is how I would describe these people. "Jim Locke" was the guy I dealt with, and he was insulting and terrible. In response to Ship Smart's response, they are continuing the pattern of half-truths and outright lies. They wrote to me that they were refusing to give me any kind of discount after I refused to get one in exchange for not making negative reviews and reporting them to consumer and regulatory agencies, so if they have changed their mind, they need to actually contact me and indicate that. Also, I have asked and asked for any evidence that an authorized person signed off on adding all of those things that I specifically, from the first communication, told them I didn't want. They admitted that the person promised at multiple to send me photos of the items before weighing, but then didn't. These people really seem to have purposely completely gouged me, wouldn't refund me unless I covered it up, and now are lying about it while pretending they have agreed to give me a refund. Also, it is hostile, unprofessional, dishonest, unethical, etc. to gouge customers, lie to them, and press them to keep quiet. You can smile and speak calmly while knifing someone, but that doesn't mean you aren't actually doing it. Not the great experience but eventually it worked out. Recommend the carriers contracted to deliver are vetted better. The shipper(s) used, one being YRC Freight, is very poorly reviewed and had a bad track record on this shipment. First, the shipment originally delivered the wrong order. I do hope those folks eventually received their property. Second, I wasted two days in a row waiting for a call for delivery of the shipment after it was found, only to find out on day one it never left the warehouse, and on day two, it was loaded onto a truck without a lift so they would have never been able to deliver anyway. Now I am waiting on a new delivery date that is TBD. The best part was being told I would be the first morning delivery on the second day but only found out they would never arrive through a third party. The company never called on either day to say they could not deliver after they said they would. The order was eventually delivered and appears undamaged. No coordination however was given ahead of time and I had to leave work when the carrier called 30 mins out. I did appreciate the shippers that delivered the wrong order and eventually the correct one. Very helpful some heavy freight! read more

I hired them for a small shipment cross country. What a mistake. Unbeknownst to me, they hired a 3rd party called Ceva Home Delivery to actually do the delivery. Ceva eventually called me from an "unknown" number, and it was a machine meant to schedule a delivery window. I had to google the company to even realize it was "legit," since I'd never heard of them and they certainly were not the company I hired, nor did the machine have any specifics about my order. I scheduled a window via the machine and moved my schedule around to accommodate. The window came and went. This was almost a month ago. I still don't have my delivery, which includes priceless family photos and heirlooms. Ceva's number does not ever pick up. Ever. I submitted a request through their website, nothing. I have talked to FIVE people from Ship Smart on different occasions. All five promised to get back to me same day. Zero of the five got back to me. I am not certain I will ever get my things...all my late father's photos he took. I'm furious and so sad and don't even know what to do next. Do not hire this company. EDIT: escalated, talked to a manager at Ceva and scheduled for a 5-hour window today. Yet another no-show with NO communication. read more

Update: They made an effort to resolve the issue and compensated for the damages. Initially they gave me an estimate and a service for moving a long couch, three tables, and a chair. Then, after knowing about what items I needed shipped, they told me that they could no longer provide me the service. So to start, I should've known better. The crew they hired to pick up my items were disinterested in handling it with care. I was PROMISED that my items were going to be handled properly and with care, and placed into crates and taken out of the crates upon delivery. The only thing that was in a crate was the couch, the rest was in plastic wrap bundle of crap. (See pictures). I would never recommend this company to ANYONE. They have treated our items like they were worth a huge amount to anyone besides our family, and moved everything with care. I started out being a bit dismayed with the amount of time it took for Shipsmart to move my 1-Br apartment from California to Virginia but after I complained to them, the owner/partner called me and worked things out by offering me a refund for a month's delay that cost me in rent at temporary housing. My goods were picked up on December 3 and delivered on January 18. I was upset at first but after the phone call from the owner of the company and his professionalism, I was pacified. I have moved a lot over the years and have never had a "great" move ever. All things considered, I do recommend Shipsmart due to their professionalism. Find an alternative if you are moving furniture. Even if you provide the weight of the items, they quote with no packaging cost. The packaging weight was more than the items I shipped; a 60" round wooden pedestal table with four side chairs. So the final price was nearly double. It would have been more than double if I had not asked them to prove the shipping weight because they told me it weighed 800 lbs and would cost 1900$. They then sent me a picture on the scale and the weight was now 639 lbs. They packaged these items in an enormous crate 88x44x63". Once they have your stuff, your stuck because you can't control the way they package it and they don't estimate the packaging cost at all. Even if you want to have another carrier, you have to pay a cancellation, and then youre still stuck with the packaging that you didn't expect. You would think after so many years in business they could provide better information on costs to ship ordinary items of known dimensions. I felt scammed and will never use ShipSmart again. My experience with Shipsmart was flawless, and I couldn't be happier with the service. Here's how it went down: I was relocating from SF to Philly. I packed all of my stuff carefully in boxes, and weighed the boxes. I will emphasize that I packed really carefully, with the same level of protection as if I were going to be shipping things. I had a realistic idea of how much stuff I had and was able to communicate with shipsmart very clearly. I should mention It weighed A LOT more than I would have guessed if I hadn't weighed it all myself. The quote that I was given was accurate. I chose to pay 250 dollars extra to have them bring the boxes into my new house rather than drop off the crate, and that seemed well worth it. My stuff all arrived in about 3.5 weeks. EVERYTHING was in perfect shape, including my fragile, home built desktop computer (yeah I'm a total total nerd whatevs) and the accompanying monitor. The movers on both ends were fun to chat with, fast, and courteous. Shipsmart communicated clearly and promptly whenever I reached out. It cost me about $1700 to move across the country when no other mover quoted me less than 3k. I was super concerned due to some of the crappy reviews they get, but this worked out really well for me, and I'd use shipsmart again. read more

I had a good experience with Ship Smart. If you can be flexible with the arrival date of your items (I go into this in more detail below), I would recommend them highly. I recently moved from California to Washington, D.C. with a studio's worth of furniture. Price: Reasonable, and the final price was close to the initial quote. Ship Smart was one of the cheapest quotes I received. Pick-up and delivery: The crew that picked up my stuff in San Francisco was prompt and professional. The same can be said for the crew that delivered my stuff to Washington, D.C and moved it into my new apartment. All of my items arrived in perfect condition. Customer service: Ship Smart was easy to get a hold of and their representatives are professional and very competent. Delivery time: This is the only reason I'm giving Ship Smart four stars instead of five. I was told that typically deliveries took 2-3 weeks from pick-up day to delivery day. My delivery took exactly 6 weeks. With that said, I looked back at the paperwork, and it did clearly state that transit times were not guaranteed. I felt that Ship Smart wasn't entirely straightforward in their delivery time estimation, and I do believe that they should set a maximum delivery time (even if it's 6-7 weeks) to hold themselves to some sort of time-constrained accountability, and so that people know what to expect. read more

When Wade Odell Wade couldn't (or wouldn't) move us, they pushed us off to ShipSmart who made everything sound like sunshine and rainbows when they were selling my mom on their company. They told my mom that the move would take 2-4 weeks. It has now been over five weeks since ShipSmart's subcontractor picked up our belongings and we don't have anything. My mom called ShipSmart for an update and the representative she spoke with told her the warehouse they subcontracted to wasn't open, but that he would call her first thing the next business day morning. He never called. My mom called back and got Mitch who told us that he did not have an update on our move, but would contact the warehouse and find out what's going on. He called back the next day to tell us that the warehouse would be palletizing our belongings and ShipSmart's Operations Department would have an update on July 27th. We've heard nothing. We called back and Mitch said that they would be palletizing our belongings and would provide an update, which sounded familiar and is now, clearly, an empty promise that this company makes to get customers off the phone. We told Mitch that we had to buy beds, among other things, because ShipSmart took so long to deliver and asked if they could pull the beds out of the shipment and give them to someone if someone needs them. After telling us the shipment had not been palletized yet, Mitch wanted to charge us over $100 to remove the mattresses because the shipment had been palletized. Needless to say, after the lack of communication and contradictions in communications like that one, I no longer have any trust in this company. Given my experience, I am not surprised to find awful reviews of ShipSmart online and to find that ShipSmart was sued in 2010. I really hope we just get all of our belongings undamaged because, although I'm sure I currently have a legal claim for the length of time they've taken and the thousands of dollars I'm out buying replacement items for my belongings that should already be here, I - ultimately - want my belongings. And, I want to be the customer of a company who cares about more than the money their customers represent, which ShipSmart - obviously - doesn't. Save yourself the heartache we're dealing with and use another mover or shipper. ShipSmart does not deliver when promised (if ever... we'll see); ShipSmart does not communicate adequately with their customers; ShipSmart does not keep their promises. This is not a way to run a business and this is not a way to treat paying customers. I'll update this review when we get (or don't get) our belongings and I'll let you know if ShipSmart makes us whole for the delay and, possibly, for the loss of our belongings (I really hope they haven't lost our shipment because the replaceable items will cost money to replace and some of it is irreplaceable). My mom has been a Registered Nurse for 42 years and would never treat a patient like this company has treated us. If she did, the consequences could be dire. I'm an Attorney and I would never treat my clients the way this company has treated us. What a shame. read more

The WORST company. ShipSmart was highly recommended as a preferred vendor from another really bad moving coordinating and home organizing company call Changing-Places in San Rafael. SS canceled the first confirmed move date at the last minute with no explanation. Scheduled a second move but failed to ship my stuff as agreed. Almost 2 months later my stuff arrived. Three totally inexperienced teenagers moved my valuables into my new house. Friendly guys but definitely not professional movers. They promised to box my expensive carpets but they arrived folded in half. They unpacked nothing and worst of all the staff handling my move was rude, hostile and harassed me the whole time while I was traveling on business. Please do NOT use this company. The company lost all of our boxes (34 total) and has not attempted to offer us any kind of compensation. They do not know where our belongings are and have not contacted us since October of last year (our things were initially picked up on July 27th, 2021). Here is a summary of our experience: -- Contacted Ship Smart to move studio's worth of boxes (34), a couch, mattress, chair, and keyboard. We were given an initial estimate. We were also ensured that our belongings would be shipped out and delivered within 4-5 weeks. -- The boxes and furniture were picked up on July 27, 2021. Afterward, we did not receive any communication until we called them on August 16, 2021 to check on our delivery. We were told that they could contact us back at the end of the week to let us know when our belongings would be shipped and that it was not palletized at the time of the call. -- We received no callback and we reached out again that same week only to be given the answer that it would be the next Wednesday (08/25/21) that we would have the final weight and cost. -- The day came and went without a callback, so we reached out again multiple times over the remainder of the week (08/25-27) and kept hearing the same update -- that it is not palletized nor ready and we could expect a call back next week. -- Again, silence from Ship Smart for the following week (08/30 - 09/03) except when we initiated the calls. No direct answers, only "let me check with the warehouse and get back to you." We never received a callback once. On 09/10/21, we called once again to try and escalate the situation even more. -- A couple of decent days passed with communication (09/13-15), but then no more updates from Ship Smart. We received a communication explaining that our partial shipment (large furniture) was to be delivered the next week on the week of 09/20-24. -- The following week, we received our couch (damaged and missing pieces), office chair, mattress, and a few art pieces on 09/29/21. We called three times between 09/30 - 10/01 but no answer or callback until late 10/01. -- We received a call to say that our stuff might have been shipped with another order (didn't directly confirm that this was the case). -- They confirmed that they could not find our boxes and that they had discovered they had been lost for a while. We were not once alerted to this fact, even though we had been calling them numerous times. -- We (as of 1/3/22) still have yet to receive our 34 boxes. We have not been contacted by Ship Smart since 10/13/21. Since losing all of our belongings, we have had to spend an immense amount of money rebuilding our home and our lives. Absolutely no attempt has been made by Ship Smart to right this wrong, or compensate for our loss in any way. This is a shameful business. I'm happy to report that after several weeks of back-and-forth we were compensated by the company owners to a degree we're satisfied with. I will say that despite all our troubles, described at length separately, they ultimately seem like a decent company, or, at least, one of good people. When we finally got to his 'level' the owner seemed genuinely concerned about our experience, and earnest to make things right. Customer service was also kind, professional, and available throughout, which helps a lot. Unfortunately for them, and for us, they can't be so helpful when the problem is well out of their hands. Would I *recommend* ShipSmart? Ehhh. To say this experience proved a headache would be an understatement. I also won't be graduating on time because of the delay. They did however insist our experience was a huge outlier, and I believe them. There's no way they could be in business if what happened to us was the norm. They compensated us fairly for our troubles. They seem like good people doing their best. I hope they figure out some logistical glitches sooner rather than later if they want their company to succeed. read more

This review is specifically for an international move and is quite long because I am pretty upset. I moved from the USA to the EU and this was my experience: I chose Ship Smart to ship my household goods (no furniture, just boxes of personal items). Up until I signed the contract communication was excellent and friendly. I really enjoyed speaking with the Ship Smart staff. Once my boxes were picked up from my US home and the balance was charged to my credit card things went downhill pretty quickly. Problem 1: I had asked for door-to-door delivery from my home in the USA to the EU. Apparently, whoever did my paperwork neglected/forgot/didn't care to add that I wanted home delivery for my boxes. ShipSmart stupidly attempted to deliver my boxes 500 miles away from me in a town 7 hours away by car and asked me when I was intending to go pick up my boxes. Confused, I called Shipsmart and no explanation was given for the weirdness of the pickup location nor why my boxes weren't to be delivered to my house. Apparently 500 miles away is a completely reasonable distance to make a day trip to get your boxes. Problem 2: After said confusion, I emailed ShipSmart 3 times and called 3 times (international calls might I add) to try to figure out why my boxes were being delivered 500 miles from my new home. Absolutely every email was ignored (I contacted customer service and the person who was helping me via email with my delivery in the EU). Every phone call was responded to with, "Someone is looking into this and someone will call you back today." Guess how many times someone actually called me back? Zero. Problem 3: When I finally got in contact with an operations manager at ShipSmart, I was told I must have not understood my contract or made a mistake with choosing my method of delivery in Europe (or lack completely thereof). Seriously? I went over my contract and confirmed I explicitly had listed my intended delivery address. I also asked this manager why, if I had really wanted NO home delivery option, would I choose a pickup point in a city 500 miles from my home and not the pickup point 45 minutes from my home? I wasn't offered an explanation. They offered to add delivery to my boxes for a $1,700 extra charge. I contacted the European delivery company directly and they only charged me $250. That's quite a difference and trust me I went with the local company. This is bafflingly dishonest! I was quoted one price believing it had included delivery, but found out only a month after I shipped my boxes that an extra fee would be required to actually get my boxes to me. Problem 4: My boxes were finally delivered (thanks EU moving company!) and wow, they look absolutely busted. It honestly looks like someone drop kicked each and every box I had across a football field before throwing them down a flight of stairs. I'll attach images if I can, but needless to say half my boxes are either completely ripped with their contents spilling out or were flattened like a pancake (the heaviest boxes were on top of the lightest boxes that were marked fragile). I took a break from sorting through broken glass to write this review. In the end, ShipSmart customer support has offered me an undisclosed "discount" to update my delivery location (to the right address in the first place!) and also is offering to refund me a bit of money to help cover the extra costs incurred as a result of my boxes needing to be stored for an extra week in the EU warehouse. 2 stars because some of the representatives I spoke to were really kind. No more than that because I'm just overall disappointed. read more

Worst shipping experience ever!!! DO NOT USE!! Shipping took over 5 weeks to deliver and upon delivery, all boxes were crushed, all furniture was broken, family heirlooms were destroyed. Ship Smart was not interested in helping to resolve this and just told us to file with insurance. No apologies or effort to make this right. They did not ship as advertised. Dishonest Sales Tactics. 2-1/2 Months Late. Raised Price Along the Way. Overview: Final price was $1,000 over original estimate. They kept raising the price once they had my item. I tried to get my item back and they said it would cost $661 to return it to me. It took 2-1/2 months to deliver, they said it would take 2 weeks. I was given the runaround. They blamed us for their lateness unbelievably. In the end, they never performed the service I hired them to perform because the item was delivered 2-1/2 months late. Recap: Made initial request on November 24, 2020 to have chair picked up in MA and delivered to CA. Estimate was $795 and they said it would take 2-3 weeks to be delivered. On 11/25/20, Ship Smart gave me a shipping contract for $1,364, which I accepted. This was the final threshold of what I was willing to pay, and the fact that if jumped from their original estimate of $795 to $1,364 did not sit right with me but I went ahead with it anyway because I wanted to get the chair delivered by Christmas. The chair was picked up from our house in MA on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. After they had already picked up the chair, and given me an original estimate of $795, and then the new estimate of $1,364, I got an email from on December 4, 2020, saying that my shipment had arrived in California and was packed and ready to be shipped to the destination in CA. At this point, he told me that the new price (from the original estimate of $795, to the contract price of $1,364) was now $1,718. The final price was $1,000 over where we started, and $400 over the contract price. At this point, I asked for my chair back and wanted out. They informed me that it would cost me an additional $661 to get my chair back. At this point, I felt 100% powerless. They had my chair, and were demanding a price that was $400 over the contract price, and $1,000 over the original estimate. And they were demanding full payment in order for my chair to be delivered to my in-laws as a gift in time for Christmas. Because of their response, and my powerlessness, I made full payment ($1,718) on December 7, 2020 and let them know. They had told me that once payment was made the chair would be shipped, this was December 7, 2020. We never heard back, the receiving party and I were never contacted about delivery. Then, on Monday, December 14, 2020, I sent a follow-up email inquiring about the delivery. It was now getting close to Christmas. (Note: the irony here is that there headquarters is like a mile away from where my in-laws live). I was told the item was "being delivered to the delivery warehouse today" so the "receiving party should get a call by Wednesday to schedule." I let the receiving party know. And again, we never heard back from Ship Smart, and we were all wondering where the shipment was. This was followed by a month of radio silence as we were all wondering, and waiting for the chair to be delivered. I emailed my contact at Ship Smart again on 1/4/21 and got an out of office reply. I then called my customer service contact. We went back and forth several times and I was continuously given the runaround. They were clearly giving me the runaround, and were telling me things that were contradicting what their own warehouse had said, never once taking responsibility for the delay, and giving different stories at different times. They passed the buck, blamed others, and continued to make excuses over a series of emails and phone calls over the next few weeks/months as I tried to get this chair delivered. I had already paid $1,000 over the original estimate, and now they weren't even delivering the chair! Then, in early February (the chair had still not been delivered!) They said that the receiving party had never answered their phone or returned messages. This is simply not true. They knew the number to expect and they were waiting for it, they knew it was coming. Furthermore, if Ship Smart was having trouble getting through to the receiving party, they should have contacted me--the customer, the one who paid the bill. They had my phone number and my email and they never reached out to me at all, ever. Simply put, Ship Smart never called and never left messages, and tried to blame it on the receiving party. Finally, after all this, I had to jump in, make phone calls, and set up the delivery to finally make sure that the chair got delivered. It was finally delivered on Tuesday, February 9--a full 2 months and 3 weeks after the original contract. This experience has been costly, stressful and time-consuming. The Ship Smart contract and sales pitch is misleading, confusing and dishonest. I never got my agreed-upon service, and was forced to pay $1,000 over the original estimate, and $400 over the contract price. They held my chair hostage and forced me to pay over what I was willing to pay in order to get the chair delivered. But the bottom line is that they never performed the service that I hired them to do. read more

Reliable, honest, friendly,professional! Moved my daughters things from CA to NY. When we were unable to meet the truck due to Covid 19 they offered to hold her things and even matched the price of our storage unit. After 3 months we were finally ready and they sent the truck to arrive on the date we requested. Everything was packed beautifully. They even labeled fragile items (mirror etc.) which helped greatly in the unpacking process! In this stressful time of quarantine, ShipSmart gave me no extra stress about this untimely move.
