I went there this morning for Egg and Cheese Kolaches. I was told they only have Egg Cheese and Jalapeno left. I was given Egg Cheese Sausage and Jalapeno. I do not eat pork since I am a Muslim. I rolled back around to the window and explained I was given a Sausage kolache and that I did not eat pork. I tried to give him the kolaches back but the Latino drive thru cashier shrugged his shoulders and pretty much told me he didn't care and refused. He claimed he said it was sausage in there but he did not. This place will never get another dollar of my money again. Terrible customer service. read more

I've never been disappointed by a Shipley donut, but I was disappointed by the customer service at this location. I ordered a donut and egg and cheese kolache through the app, but when I arrived, I was told they didn't have the kolache and I would be given one with meat. I told them I didn't eat meat. They proceeded to tell me I couldn't order through the app and expect my order to be ready and that all I could get was what they were offering. After leaving work at 0500 I decided why not stop at Shipley and grab a couple of nice freshly made and warm glazed donuts before heading home to sleep. Nobody was in the drive-thru and that was a plus as sometimes the line can be long and it doesn't move very fast (especially for those in a hurry). I usually go to the one location on the beltway and Pearland Parkway (they always give one free additional donut to your order each and every single time), but since this location is right next door to my place of business I thought it would be convenient. Pulled up to the window where two employees stood there staring at me without a greeting between the both of them. Ok, whatever. I politely ordered two glazed donuts ($2.70). I usually offer a tip at the other location because they're always so good, but not this morning and not here.... No, sir! I took my donuts and headed home. I usually eat in the car, so thats what I did and I was disappointed to say the very least. It's after 0500 and they just opened. The donuts should be fresh, hot, and delicious. Quite the opposite! They were cold, dense, and tasted old!!! You would think they were the Do-Nuts left over from the previous day. How is this even possible?! There's no way they should have tasted this bad and lack the qualities of a morning freshly made donut! Just terrible and shameful. The flazed donuts are absolutely mouth watering delicious. So good I want another one now. I also enjoyed the jalapeno kolache. Didn't care too much for the boudain but that's just because I don't really like them so I can't hold that against them. read more

This donut chain, Shipley Do-Nuts, is one of those local Texas chain institutions that, despite not being off the charts for what's interesting about them, are good in a practical and repeatable way. On this list, I'd include Whataburger, H-E-B, and especially Buc-ee's. (Now Buc-ee's might be out of the ordinary in a stratospheric sort of way.) This Shipley is in a tidy store on NASA 1 Parkway, across from the Space Center tourist complex. There is ample parking. Make sure that you put your blinker on because, like major thoroughfares in burgeoning Florida cities, NASA 1 Parkway is another one of those racetracks with frisky drivers. I went in and bought two donuts for breakfast, and then had tea bags around that I poured hot water over. While I like Dunkin' (Donuts), their prices are a little higher than Shipley prices. It's nice to be able to walk out of a Shipley having paid under a dollar per donut, a psychological price point, with taxes included. The chocolate and strawberry donut I had were very good. They were gone in a flash. As for the service, they don't fuss over you, but the employee helping me was quick, given that there were other customers in both the store and the drive-through. There are many Shipley Do-Nuts (I don't get this play on words) in the greater H-town area. I would see one near a freeway, think about donuts, and thought I'd pass because the on-off would be tough ... and so would the neighborhood! So, then, why not get your Shipley fix in a clean store in a nice area? In that regard, this Shipley location fits the bill. read more

STALE DONUTS and rude staff! drive through menu is located by the pick up window (like most donut shops) but as soon as I pulled up to it was rushed to order and could see the employee serving me was visibly irritated by idk.. waiting 20-30 seconds for me to look over the menu? got home and the donut holes were stale then it reminded is the only other time we'd been been here were served stale donuts as well. definitely worth driving further down NASA to get donuts elsewhere. side note: we got the donuts at 9:30 am no way they were made that same day. read more

Overall very disappointed with food. Not only did they messed up our order (left items out), the quality of the food provided was not good. I will probably never return to this location. We ordered kolaches, donuts and an apple fritter. The kolaches were old. The breading was not fresh. It was hard and I threw it away. The apple fritter literally had one plop of apple in it. This review is for Shipley Donuts' kolaches. I had one at Bush Intercontinental airport on the way home, and just posted it onto the Shipley's in the Clear Lake / NASA area of Houston. There are apparently 77 Shipley's in Houston, and they are a staple for the area, as are the kolaches. I had a sausage and cheese kolache this time, and it's basically like a breakfast hot dog encased in bread. They are of Czech heritage and kind of a novelty when one is in Texas. I lived in Houston for 4 years and have had them in past, but I can't say that I've run into them as a commonplace food item anywhere else in my travels, and it is a decent breakfast item. Shipley's is also well known in Texas for their donuts but I didn't have any this time. This kolache was $1.73 at the airport, but suspect it's less at most other stores. read more

Shipley's was a favorite in high school and the precursor to Krispy Kreme. Home for Thanksgiving I heard on the radio that they were opening up KK here and that it was better than Shipley's. That is somewhat true but from what I remember Shipley's keeps that light, airy texture all day long without needing to be reheated. Krispy Kreme is only at it's best right out of the oven so I've got to give Shipley's some credit for longevity. read more

I am writing regarding an experience I had at this 1208 Nasa Pkwy address where I recently experienced an event which disgusted me so much that I will never return to this location. I came to this location on 09/06/2017 and ordered one dozen do-nuts, a kolache, and a apple critter bringing my total to 13.84. When i brought the items to work, my co-workers of course began to eat them. Fortunately one of my co-workers , was breaking her donuts into pieces and happened to find a piece of RAT FECES embedded inside her do-nut. I called the store ahead of time to inform them of what happened and to let them know I needed a refund. There was a woman who answered and told me "It was not her register" and handed the phone over to a gentleman who i explained the situation to and he told me to stop by before the agreed time of 1:00pm. I ended up going to the location within 30 minutes from the call. When I arrived to the location, the woman who answered the phone(since she was the only worker there) greeted me and i told her that I was the customer who called earlier about the refund and she seemed confused mentioning that she thought she was doing some type of exchange for a new set of donuts. Me and the gentlemen did not discuss anything about a new batch because there is no way that i would want more donuts from the same location that served me another batch with feces in it. If the donuts were cold or crushed or something on a smaller scale possibly but by seeing feces in my food I don't trust anything that your store can give me besides my refund. So the woman proceeds to call who I assume to be the manager and handed the phone to me and I am told I should have brought the box with me. Half of the donuts were unfortunately eaten by my co-workers, myself included, containing who knows what. I should not have to bring the box of do-nuts when i have receipt in hand and i physically brought in one do-nut with feces to show the worker who saw. If the situation allowed where the do-nut with the feces was found before everyone ate then i would have brought the entire box but unfortunately not everybody broke apart the do-nut because they trusted the product that your store made! After trying to hint that I was 'trying to pull a scam' and trying to refund me for the 1-2 donuts that had feces I felt beyond disrespected especially noting that I have come to this location many times before. After some back and forth, the employee called the police on me and she was then able to hand the officers my refund. Every time i generally come here, I get perfect and fast service but this past experience really has left an impression with me. Like i told the employee I can understand that Hurricane may be causing a lot of outside critters to try to get in but this still should have been handled better. This employee should not have been left by herself without someone there who had 'authority' to handle a situation like this during daylight hours. Or possibly equip the employees with better protocols for a situation like this. Instead of telling me that it 'isn't her register' she could have just told me she could not do it at that time and to come back tomorrow in the morning which would have been fine since i pass that way going to work. The best donuts in the world. When I come home to visit, my darling ma often buys a dozen on my last day so I can slink out of the house with a donut. Last time she did this, I packed 4 of my favorites (cherry glaze, strawberry glaze, white glaze, regular glaze) into a box and packed up my car. This place is nasty, there was a bug in the glaze on my donut. I've seen roaches. The Asian lady that works there has some serious problems I ordered a dozen glazed donuts and two drinks, I only got one drink and tried to get the other drink and she started screaming at me. The store is filthy surprised the health department hasn't shut them down. Plus the large drinks are the size of the small drinks at the Shipley in Seabrook. I only gave this place one star because I had to. I go through the drive through this morning and use a gift card that had a few dollars left. After the young lady swiped it, she informed me of the difference $1.89 and I have her my back card. She re tells me "Oh it has to be at least $4.00". Ok well I don't have enough change so can you swipe my card. She then gets the manager who proceeds to say "oh you don't have $1.89?" Again no ma'am I'm sorry but I only have my card. She then explains that they can not run the card for less than $4.00. Now we all know that's a lie. You may get charged at least an extra 4 cents if that for the transaction but you can certainly run it. I again said ma'am I don't have any change. I then told her that I could just go to the ATM. She then tells me that "Oh we can't do come back". She then says oh well what do you have that you can give back for $1.89? I was out done. Seriously lady? Instead of running my bank card or allowing me to come back with $1.89 you ask for food that I have touched! Yea ok take this 99 cent soda and work it out. Their customer service is great until you run into a problem (the jalapeno kolaches), then you have to give your first born for them to admit their wrong doing and help you.
