Received latest oil delivery. Invoice E-mailed to me - no longer receiving printed & mailed bills - have a due date of 15 days after delivery. Not only are price per gallon extraordinarily high - a comparison with local oil delivery companies show $3.15 versus Shipley's $3.549 - but they added a "Regulatory Compliance Charge" of $4.99. I called to pay bill and asked what the Regulatory Compliance Charge was for: delivery fee. And it will be charged on every delivery. CUSTOMER BEWARE - What a scam these folks are; I called to ask for them to come out to take a look at a draining issue on my ac unit. I was told by the girl who answered that I would be charged $155+ for them to come out and take a look at it and determine the root cause, she explained that once they determined root cause, IF there was additional materials needed to fix it I wld be chargedI wld be charged. This guy was literally here for 15 minutes pulled "gunk" out of the tube on the AC, it immediately started to drain, he closed it back up and left-- Literally 15 minutes-- and now Shipley is saying I owe them an additional 151 dollars for those 15 minutes----that is bullshit and a total scam, that's 300 for 15 minutes -- you can stick it Shipley, I will never call you again. Horrible service!!! I called to have my oil burner serviced for intermittent not lighting issue. Technician arrived , the burner lit and then he immediately left. He did not address the intermittent not lighting issue nor did he clean or service and part of the burner and then they charged me $155. When I contacted them to address this they just sent me they same invoice again. This company does not care about their customers. This is proven by their terrible rating on yelp. If I could give Shipley less stars I would. We have been customers for almost 20 years - starting when this company was still Emery. Then a few years ago, Emery was bought by Shipley and everything went down the toilet. While they do delivery on time, we had a problem with our heat actually turning on. I called and someone was sent out. He literally only turned up the heat and then left. We still had no heat. So I had to call back and they sent out another person. This second person was able to fix the problem. HOWEVER - Shipley still charged us 183.00 for the first guy who came out and did squat and when I explained that nothing was fixed - they don't care. Mostly recently, we were putting our house on the market and needed a quick repair to our water heater. I called them and they were able to come out first thing in the morning and fix the issue. Shipley energy located in malvern pa is worst oil company i have ever had to deal with.I signed a contract for my oil tank years ago making monthly payments for 3 years.had furnace tune up was told by tech guy i needed new oil tank.they refused to replace it and honor warrenty.i am now having a lawyer handle it.their technicians never come on time being 3 hrs late and they have raised their prices off wall.stay as far away as you can. read more

When my rate agreement ended, they raised by rate to 19.9 cents/KWH. When I called they said the variable rate is more. Then they gave me a quote that was almost twice what PECO's current rate is. They then said -- PECO's rates are variable and variable rates are alway lower. But they has just told me that variable rates are higher. They do not tell THE TRUTH. The man I spoke with said that he would check into getting a refund for me. He never called back. I called back a few weeks later and the person I spoke with said that there are no notes on my file that indicate that he was seeking a refund for me or intending to call me back. Shop around!!! Don't be fooled into thinking you're getting a great deal by locking in your winter pricing! After paying $1.99/gal propane for three years I figured it was time to do some shopping. Found another local supplier who locked my winter rate at $1.49 without the absurd $100 fee. When it comes to switching to another supplier, that's where Shipley is THE WORST! I had 172 gallons of LP that Shipley sold to me in their leased tank. I received my final credit today for $39.00. After charging me $89 to pick up their tanks and $1.25/ PER GALLON restocking fee!! Any chance of me recommending someone to this bunch of lousy business people is gone!! Two stars because I never ran out of gas. read more

I put Shipley Energy on the bottom of any recent customer experience I have had. Terrible service, slow to respond and expensive. If you can avoid this company you are doing yourself a huge favor. I was a customer for 7 years and they could not help me with a broken line issue that was only 4" down from grade. Their valves, their tanks, but they won't admit to anything with the line. Total amnesia. Code says 12" minimum. I have to empty their tanks because they charge almost $3 a gallon to take away the gas I already paid for. Once I use up the propane I will use another company, I suppose with Shipley that loyalty means very little. I was never late with a payment and paid them top dollar for their fuel. read more

Called to cancel for my scheduled delivery 2 days later they fill up my tank put almost 150gals in. Called and nobody could help me said I would get a call back the next day never did. Had to call in again explain my situation. First they offered me 2.79/gal or come pump it out. Told them to come pump it out at that price. Then they told me 2.59/gal and they didnt wanna come pump it out. This is very poor customer service and very poor business practices I think. Said it was maybe the lady's fault that went to cancel my order or it was the computers fault because it printed me another ticket. Ended up having to pay for fuel I didnt want and didnt need at the moment. At 2.59/gal and almost 150gals sorry just doesn't cut it. When u gotta pay for somebody else's mistake. read more

Horrible service...We were paying market price for our electric service and we recently received a usage increase of over 65%. I understand rates fluctuate but over 65%!!! Our intro rate was at market so it wasn't big savings but for this to be your post-intro rate is crazy. Moving on to another company. read more

I bought a house with propane tanks owned by Shipley. Pa real estate law says I buy the fuel too. Shipley said no, it's theirs---so much for real estate law. This starts our relationship. I signed up for call-when-you-need-it fills. They came and filled without me calling. Insulting my intelligence at being able to read a tank meter. I was down 87 gallons in a 250 gallon tank. I did not budget for a $310 bill this week! Not did I ask for a fill. A friend of mine in Dover was moving, so he told them to stop his deliveries. The fill guy jumped a LOCKED gate to fill a few weeks later, and they billed my friend who had called to stop service. Their rates are $1.50 higher than other local companies. Oh sure, you can spend 100$ to sign up for their special locked-in-discount rate. That discount rate is still higher than other local companies. Check it out- go online and search average propane rates in mid Atlantic. Shameful how much they over charge. They charge a 75 cent a gallon restocking fee, if you call to have them take away your propane, if say, you wanted to switch to someone with better customer service, rates, or credibility. When I had my propane turned on, the kid told me to sign an illegibly photocopied list. I don't know what it was, but it was snowing like mad and the little moron was wearing a tshirt and I felt bad he was freezing. They are suppose to tell you the basic safety stuff. I had to ask for a safety briefing. Just a quick run down that, oh, might save my life and keep my house from blowing up. I had to ASK for it! Do not use this company. Terrible customer service. I was quoted a rate/gallon of propane that I accepted and requested them to fill my tank. They filled it halfway and charged me a much higher rate. They admitted that they misquoted me and actually verified via the telephone recording but still refused to honor the quoted price. I've just recently moved into a house that I needed oil to heat my house. So we decided to go with Shipley because of them being so well loved in the area. Worst decision ever. I called to set up automatic deliveries and the lady over the phone told me that my credit card would be charged 15 days after delivery. Well I received a call just 4 days after delivery stating that there was a problem with my payment. I tried to call the lady that called me back 3 times so I turn around and call customer service. Customer service helps me and it turns out that my credit card number was wrong. Then I questioned why they were taking the payment so early. The lady on the other end of the phone couldn't give me an answer. I was also supposed to receive a 100 dollars off my first delivery since I was a brand new customer. The lady on the phone also couldn't explain to me why I wasn't receiving it. The lady swore up and down that she would have the original lady that I was trying to get ahold of call me back. Needless to say I've been calling and leaving messages for this lady to please call me back and I've got nothing. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. It's ridiculous. read more

We used this company for about 1 1/2 years after moving to this area and needing propane heat in my husbands workshop. They never offered the lock in price or monthly payments. We did payment on delivery, which was higher prices than others that we looked into. On several deliveries the driver left our gate unlatched!!! We called each time this happened and things never changed. We have 3 dogs and have a fenced in yard for a reason. In my opinion it is irresponsible to leave a gate unlatched, if it was latched upon entering latch it when leaving! it's just that simple. This year we changed the heat source so we no longer need propane and called to have the tank removed. I asked them to have the driver call when coming because of our dogs, and asked again that our gate be latched when they left since there were so many problems in the past. The driver called this morning and came to get the tanks, I was working in the garage at the time they picked the tank up and could see clearly when they left that he carelessly closed the gate without making sure it latched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IRRESPONSIBLE - CARELESS is the only way to describe them. to add to this I have to pay to have the tank picked up! I did call again to complain but i'm sure it went on deaf ears since nothing changed all the other times we called. Just glad I don't need propane anymore. read more
