A lazy Sunday and the Wife and I decided that a fun way to enjoy the rainy day was to drink some tikis. My first review says it all. Great ambience, great drinks,and most importantly, great service. This update is to once again highlight the service. We were greated and served by Ava today. Good employees are hard to find, and Ava was a dream. She kept the Wife and I great company at the bar. Along with wonderful conversation, she was extremely knowledgeable with the menu, and helped us order drinks when we couldn't decide. They all sound so delicious. First time visiting and overall I really wanted to love this place. The cocktails were genuinely good, the atmosphere has a lot of potential, and most of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and added to the fun tiki vibe. That said, our experience was noticeably impacted by the host. From the moment we walked in, interactions felt more focused on what we couldn't do rather than helping us feel comfortable or welcomed. I was initially told my dog wasn't allowed, which was later clarified when I explained he is a service animal, but subsequent interactions continued to feel corrective rather than hospitable. It stood out because every other staff member we interacted with was warm, social, and inviting, which made the contrast pretty stark. One practical note for future guests: if you order wine, plan to finish it there. They do not offer cork-and-carry, so splitting a bottle only really works if you're prepared to drink a good amount on-site. I'm rooting for this place and hope this feedback is helpful. With a small adjustment in front-of-house approach, this could easily be a fantastic addition to the local bar scene. read more

Nice and fun tiki bar! Went here to check out what was nearby, was very surprised and pleased with everything here! At first going in it's a very dim dark lighting as any tiki bar is, with a pirate ship theme throughout, hence the name of the place, very nice and fun things to look all around. They have booths in jail cells in the back that are fun for small groups and lounge chairs throughout the spot. Not a huge bar so can packed pretty quickly depending on the night. The bartenders were very nice and quick to make our drinks. They have a digital menu so it's easy to always look at what kind of cocktails they offer The couple drinks we had were all great! And honestly don't think you can go wrong ordering any drinks from here The watermelon lemon drop though, would highly recommend if you like a nice sweet drink Saw they offered a Thursday night mojito night so can definitely be something I'd return for All in all would come back again for the great atmosphere and good drinks! read more

Three words: ube espresso martini! I'd been craving one since attending a Yelp Elite Event here way back in June, and was super excited to see that Shipwrecked was only a couple of blocks from my hotel on my most recent visit to town. I started the evening at a local sports bar waiting for "the big fight" to begin on Netflix. Well, if you watched that debaucle, you know it was pretty drawn out and eventually felt like the actual fight was never going to begin. I gave up, and headed back towards my hotel with the plan to stop at Shipwrecked. OMG I had forgotten how cool this place is. It's a pirate-themed, tiki paradise that is almost impossible to describe. The lighting is moody, the walls and ceilings are adorned with everything from sharks to octopus tentacles, and they have very creative seating (including private "jail cells" in the back and, rumor has it, a speakeasy type room, too). I settled for a seat on a plush, purple velvet couch near the bar, and soon was sipping on what I'd come here for: the ube espresso martini. Should I have been drinking espresso this late at night? Heck no. But I couldn't resist it's ube-mazingness and figured I'd just skip the 3 little espresso beans floating on top. I have no regrets. (Well, other than not having a second one...in hindsight I wish I'd stayed longer!) The staff here are INCREDIBLE, so friendly and patient with me while I hemmed and hawed about what to get. I really wish we had a place even remotely similar to this in the Seattle area - it's simply amazing and worth visiting even if you're just getting a glass of pineapple juice. Can't wait for my next trip to Davis, as this will definitely be one of my stops again. read more

The best decorated bar ever! Show student ID for a $5 discount on the Zombie Jet Pilot. $15 mojito pitchers on Thursday's. Hard to find seats/table if you go later at night, sharing table at times. When you enter, you get a lei to immerse yourself in the tropical theme. On certain days, there are caricature drawings in the back, great memories with groups. Not only is the interior design awesome, but so are the drinks. As a cocktail person, this is the perfect place to get some cool drink fusions. My personal favorites are the Lychee Green Tea Shooter and Voodoo Island Jungle Juice. My friend and I also got the mojito pitcher--mojitos aren't my favorite, but how could I say no to $15 pitchers? I came here on a night out with friends since they were visiting from out of town. Took them here since I saw it was new! Walked inside and was already impressed with the presentation. I came here on a friday night with my husband. There was a line but it didn't take long to get in. The person checking your id gives u a lei if u want one. There was a dj and he was playing hip hop music. The Mexican jungle bird and tropical margarita were both fruity and tasty. This is the best decorated bar in town. Service is always great and bathrooms are clean. I honestly didn't like the drinks too much at first not because they weren't good - but because I didn't like sweet cocktails in general. HOWEVER (and Patrick's recommendation), their old fashioned rocks (and I'm so grateful for it). Yes, this place isn't perfect (their mojitos could use more mint) but for Davis this is the best spot in town if you're looking for a speakeasy / nice bar vibe. Theme starts a little cliche with bamboo and straw hut-type coverings of seating areas with a large ship mural on the left...but it gets better! Past the ship's wheel in the back are seating areas decorated as brigs...and found this unique! The service was friendly...and first time I have been carded in more than 20 years, so they are very careful with everyone coming in. Normally I like sweet, coconut drinks and stay away from dark liquors, but had the nutmeg Mai Tai and it did not disappoint. Would go back again. read more

Helloooooo Shipwrecked! Where was this place when I was at student? Loved loved loved that we stumbled upon this gem in Downtown Davis conveniently located on G street. Apparently, they opened up about two-and-a-half months ago, so definitely a recent addition! The moment you enter, felt like I was transported to another place. You can choose to sit beneath the tiki huts, by the splendid sunset mural on the wall with the shipwreck, on the regal couches, or in the dungeons (we opted for the dungeon). Even the bathrooms are incorporated into the theme (and nice and clean too!) with a seaside beach mural and seashells hanging from the ceiling. They even have a VIP area where the owners and family and friends can hang out. 5-stars for the ambiance! They really went all out on the decorations. More importantly though, let's talk about the drinks. We had the Painkiller, the Banana Boat Bliss, and the Choconana Buzz. I've only hit up one or two tiki bars in the city, and these drinks were comparable! Plus, love that they use pineapple ice cream from the local Davis creamery in some of the drinks. Ended up getting my ice cream fix after all. My friend even opted for their infamous Zombie Jet Pilot (limited to one per guest). Service was attentive and welcoming. This place is nice but has a flaw: several of the booths are right next to the toilets and smell like toilet (imagine cleaning supplies and air freshener). It's not overwhelming, but the smell is noticeable enough to dissuade me from sitting in the afflicted booths. I've been to Shipwrecked six times or so, and at least three of those times I've had to sit at a booth with the smell because there was no other seating available. If it weren't for that, I don't think I'd have anything negative to say about this bar. read more

What a cool, new place to get a late night drink! The decor inside was really well done. Seating is set up in zones of the beach, under the sea, & on the ship. First come first serve seating too. As for the drinks, they were delicious! I got the Hawaiian Hula Blossom - very sweet, & my friend got the Virgin Painkiller - it was like a dessert in a glass. This used to be the old Woodstocks bar but it is such an escape bar and forget where you're at. Well decorated with the shipwreck theme and even better drinks and tiki style drinks! I enjoyed the painkiller, Hawaiian hula blossoms, banana boat bliss, a jet pilot, ube espresso martini, and the tiki margarita! The staff are so friendly and the bathrooms are even well decorated! Would def go back. It's always hard finding parking downtown but easy to get to! read more

You can tell the owners put so much thought and detail when designing this bar. They hit the money on the head with the shipwrecked theme. I have never seen anything like it. This place rocks in so many ways, you might forget there no food here. The bartenders are amazingly knowledgeable and pour correct ingredients for the tiki enthusiasts. I'd recommend they add cucumber and or lemon/lime slices to the water so you can have a more balanced drink - water ratio. Davis tap has a bitter flavor. Despite the cheesy stuff- look closely and you'll see that the rooms and seating hits are spectacular and well worth the time you spend. Do t sully w/fake jellyfish.
