Super unique bar with tropical vibes! Amazing designs and the soft lighting makes it a place perfect for deep convos. The bartender was super nice and was a pro a making the really pretty and strong drinks! 11/10 would recommend!

So much is amazing. Drinks, decor was so unique and very tiki nautical. Bartender was so helpful and kind and patient. We were the first customers at open and had so many questions. She helped us choose good cocktails and shots and tasters and all the things. For a college town or any town, drinks were delish. Run selection decent. Decor decor decor. Only a year old and catering to college kids, but still super solid. Food would up the game perfectly.

    Ube espresso martini.

Three words: ube espresso martini! I'd been craving one since attending a Yelp Elite Event here way back in June, and was super excited to see that Shipwrecked was only a couple of blocks from my hotel on my most recent visit to town. I started the evening at a local sports bar waiting for "the big fight" to begin on Netflix. Well, if you watched that debaucle, you know it was pretty drawn out and eventually felt like the actual fight was never going to begin. I gave up, and headed back towards my hotel with the plan to stop at Shipwrecked. OMG I had forgotten how cool this place is. It's a pirate-themed, tiki paradise that is almost impossible to describe. The lighting is moody, the walls and ceilings are adorned with everything from sharks to octopus tentacles, and they have very creative seating (including private "jail cells" in the back and, rumor has it, a speakeasy type room, too). I settled for a seat on a plush, purple velvet couch near the bar, and soon was sipping on what I'd come here for: the ube espresso martini. Should I have been drinking espresso this late at night? Heck no. But I couldn't resist it's ube-mazingness and figured I'd just skip the 3 little espresso beans floating on top. I have no regrets. (Well, other than not having a second one...in hindsight I wish I'd stayed longer!) The staff here are INCREDIBLE, so friendly and patient with me while I hemmed and hawed about what to get. I really wish we had a place even remotely similar to this in the Seattle area - it's simply amazing and worth visiting even if you're just getting a glass of pineapple juice. Can't wait for my next trip to Davis, as this will definitely be one of my stops again.

The best decorated bar ever! Show student ID for a $5 discount on the Zombie Jet Pilot. $15 mojito pitchers on Thursday's. Hard to find seats/table if you go later at night, sharing table at times. When you enter, you get a lei to immerse yourself in the tropical theme. On certain days, there are caricature drawings in the back, great memories with groups. Fun ambiance and good drinks with a few twists. Not strong drinks is the banana boat bliss.

LOVE the vibe here, super well decorated and loved the seating in the "dungeon cells," the drinks were good and had a lot of variety of flavors, bartenders were nice and quick to get our drinks

Had the yummiest drinks and the nicest bartender! Annabella was amazing. Super fun spot if you're ever in Davis!

Watermelon lemon drop w/o the watermelon slice

Champ as always, is the best excellent bartender 12/10. By far our favorite place to go to for the vibes and service.

Whoever was in charge of decorating this place is a genius. So much thought is put into the design which makes the experience 100x more enjoyable. Not only is the interior design awesome, but so are the drinks. As a cocktail person, this is the perfect place to get some cool drink fusions. My personal favorites are the Lychee Green Tea Shooter and Voodoo Island Jungle Juice. My friend and I also got the mojito pitcher--mojitos aren't my favorite, but how could I say no to $15 pitchers? I'd probably try different flavors next time if anything. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. Love the decor, vibe, and drinks. I'm definitely coming back here to try their other drinks!

Ella at the door recommended the secret menu macadamia nut Mai tai, 10/10! I would definitely recommend coming early to get a seat!

    Kristine M.

I came here on a friday night with my husband. There was a line but it didn't take long to get in. The person checking your id gives u a lei if u want one. There was a dj and he was playing hip hop music. The Mexican jungle bird and tropical margarita were both fruity and tasty. The bartender was good but it took long to get a drink because it was so busy. It was crowded and most people looked like college students. They have a really good cocktail selection.

This is the best decorated bar in town. Service is always great and bathrooms are clean. I honestly didn't like the drinks too much at first not because they weren't good - but because I didn't like sweet cocktails in general. HOWEVER (and Patrick's recommendation), their old fashioned rocks (and I'm so grateful for it). Yes, this place isn't perfect (their mojitos could use more mint) but for Davis this is the best spot in town if you're looking for a speakeasy / nice bar vibe. I'll definitely take friends from out of town here though.

My husband and I were dressed up, and it was fairly obvious that we were not college students. After breaking the ice and mentioning that it was my first visit to the Davis location, while my spouse had been there a few times before, the employees became more relaxed and accommodating. I appreciated their friendly service and the generous portion of the Kava Cloud Breaker. The Davis location offers plenty of flavors to choose from, which made for a great experience. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

The Cloudbreaker immediately met my taste buds with bitterness and then left my tongue completely numb for several minutes. Perhaps those sensations would have paid off if they were followed by a calming or THC-like effect, but I didn't experience any change in mental state. The comfortable atmosphere saves this establishment from 1 star. Dim lights, leather couches, chill music, and colorful tiki wall art make for a decent study spot or date night. However, if you're hanging out at a business, you gotta support it, and to support it, you gotta buy something -- I can't see myself buying anything kava-related with any ounce of enjoyment. Surely there must be some variation of a kava drink that tastes delightful. I don't want to spend any more money finding out though.

This place is a new favorite of mine…read more I think as I go to more and more Tiki Bars, I really gravitate to the ones that have more unique drinks. I make drinks at home. I've had a traditional Mai Tai a million of times. Do you have Tiki Drinks that are going to make me want to drive 45 minutes to you? On top of that, is your food worth it? I'm happy to say that the answer to both of these questions are yes. I've gone here 3 times within the last two weeks and one item that is a constant order is the Orange Chicken. Nowadays I think people are used to the classic super sweet Panda Express style Orange Chicken that you'll also see occasionally at your local Chinese food restaurant. Wilfred's Orange Chicken definitely is sweet but its not as sweet as what I used to and I'm not mad about it. There's a lot of depth with the sauce. I don't know if they are just putting more soy sauce or dark soy sauce...Maybe it's Oyster/Fish sauce? Theres definitely some kind of extra Umami going on. An added plus is that it pair perfectly with the tanginess of the Pineapple Fried Rice. For drinks my favorites have been the Manta Ray and the Sanfroyosko. The reason being is just because these have been the more unique ones that I've been really enjoying. The Manta Ray is more tropical than one might think. However it's tropical with a bit of funk. The combination of the Gin, Falernum, and Sauv Blanc Syrup really add to the complexity. The other drink I really like is the Sanfroyosko. If you are a Mai Tai lover, this is the one to try. The substitution of the typical tums with the Shochu, Sake and Pisco add even more of a Wine and floral flavor profile to the drink. On top of that the Sesame Orgeat gives and even more nuttier flavor than normal. But despite all these flavors going on, it still kinda tastes like a Mai Tai. The service has always been amazing. Every person who has served us has served us with a smile. But even despite how friendly they are, there still remains this sense of professionalism with their interactions. They check in at the perfect times. They ask how we are enjoying everything and share their favorite things to drink/eat. With the amazing tiki decor and island music, you really do feel like you are on an Island anytime you eat here.

Let me break down how everything faired The location for this spot is easily accessible and it does stick out from the other restaurants, so kudos points on location and presentation for the restaurant. So here is the sad part the food was not up to par. Here is everything we sampled Spam fries - breaded and deep fried, placed in a spam can for presentation, it was piping hot, slight crunch for anyone that has not sampled this before let us just say it is different good deep fried pickles - if I see this on the menu I try it wherever it is offered, the pickles did not have a snap, tasted old, dipping sauce on side was ok but the pickles sadly did not taste fresh natsubi - fancy musubi with spam just added furikake and drizzled with sauce on the smaller side but it was decent smash burger - made with two patties regular hamburger bun, not sure why but both patties were dry and overly burnt, less then a 3rd of the burger was finished by my son saying they messed this up bad, my daughter ordered same thing had less then a bite saying it was to burnt to eat wife had the teriyaki salmon plate, for the most part had a nice glaze and tasted good my kids who really don't like fish picked off my wifes plate both saying it was good we ordered several drinks to wash down all their dislikes lol for the kids non-alcoholic and for us alcoholic Manta Ray - several alcohols in this drink it was strong and good, definitely order this Ube-Bae-Baby - pineapple, coconut, ube this was made well I would order this again Banana Dreams - banana, grapefruit, lime, pineapple this was also flavorful I would order this again Pagan Ritual - i could taste the rum but not sure what else was added but I would also order this again of the 4 drinks the presentation of the manta ray and pagan ritual were really well done, put those on your instagram feed again for the food I would not eat here again but for the drinks, ambiance and liveliness of the place definitely a place you want to experience for yourself food ** pass on the food price $$$ service ***** top notch service, helpful staff, friendly staff ambiance ***** been to my share of tiki bars location for this one is spot on, it was open and very visible based on looks alone from other restaurants in the area

Instead, our experience was ruined by the owner, Gordon Langstaff, and his completely inappropriate behavior around a small child. My son, who is three and on the autism spectrum, briefly picked up a loose electrical cord that was lying on the ground under the patio stairs (I have a photo of how exposed it was). Instead of calmly addressing the situation, Gordon walked over in a rude, irritated tone and said, "Can you do something?" I told him I was already handling it and redirecting my son, but as he walked away he started cursing under his breath, using foul language that was clearly audible right next to my child. There is no excuse for swearing like that in front of a three‑year‑old, especially when the unsafe cord was left out in the open by the restaurant in the first place. Whether or not my son is autistic, families should never be subjected to hostility and foul language from the owner of a restaurant. If you offer outdoor seating and leave cords and other hazards accessible, you should expect children to be curious and respond with basic courtesy, not anger. The food itself was mediocre, and after that interaction it honestly didn't matter. This was supposed to be a special birthday outing, and his attitude and language completely ruined it.
