This place rocks in so many ways, you might forget there no food here. The bartenders are amazingly knowledgeable and pour correct ingredients for the tiki enthusiasts. I'd recommend they add cucumber and or lemon/lime slices to the water so you can have a more balanced drink - water ratio. Davis tap has a bitter flavor. Despite the cheesy stuff- look closely and you'll see that the rooms and seating hits are spectacular and well worth the time you spend. Do t sully w/fake jellyfish. My new favorite bar in Davis! If not for the amazing decorations and experience, then for the drinks as well! It really felt like we were in Hawaii, the bar is dim and has tables that are in a cell with a gate. They gave us a free flower lei at the entrance! We got the pirate punch bowl, it was so delicious. As a person who doesn't like the taste of alcohol, this was really easy to drink. All the drinks are so pretty, my friend got the ube espresso martini which she loved as well. This place is nice but has a flaw: several of the booths are right next to the toilets and smell like toilet (imagine cleaning supplies and air freshener). It's not overwhelming, but the smell is noticeable enough to dissuade me from sitting in the afflicted booths. I've been to Shipwrecked six times or so, and at least three of those times I've had to sit at a booth with the smell because there was no other seating available. If it weren't for that, I don't think I'd have anything negative to say about this bar. read more

I wish this was here when I was a student! It definitely is more of a sit-down and chat atmosphere rather than a college student party scene, which I enjoy at my current old age haha. When I walked in, I immediately thought "it doesn't feel like I'm in Davis." The bar was so intricately and thoughtfully decorated and designed where we felt fully immersed in the theme. I loved all the details, including the "jail rooms" in the back! It was pretty busy on a Friday night, but we were able to get our drinks quickly. My favorites were the painkiller (with pineapple ice cream) and the banana blended drink (Y U M)--perfect as a dessert. I definitely have to come back another time! read more

I've been here a few times, but it is definitely quite the experience! I absolutely love all of the decor on the inside and it is such a fun place that Davis needed. There is a great drink selection and the bartenders are very quick when making drinks. As for seating, it fills up pretty quick so be prepared to stand around and wait for a table. read more

Pretty cool themed bar in Davis! Drinks were really good, I barely even tasted the alcohol and the prices weren't too bad at all. You get a complimentary lei and see the mermaid tank thing right when you enter, which adds to their fun atmosphere. It can get crowded so there may be a wait to order drinks and find a spot to sit, but the wait itself for bartenders to make your order isn't long. Workers are really nice too and easy to talk to. You can even get a caricature portrait done, which I've never seen in a bar before. Only complaints are that it smells weird (you get used to it after a while) and that there might not be enough seats (people will also move chairs around). I've been twice and each time I've been surprised that this place isn't overrun by college students--which, don't get me wrong, is great if you ARE a student, but that isn't me any longer. The vibes are immaculate--love the beachy soundtrack and the mood lighting, and no matter where you sit there is something perfectly themed and interesting to comment on. I really love the booths in the wreck/brig--maybe both? I'm also not drinking much alcohol these days so I appreciate the mocktail menu. I particularly love the Virgin Painkiller. Easily the coolest bar in Davis! They went all out with the decor so it feels like you're in Disneyland. They even have a few tables you can sit at that are inside a jail cell! I had the zombie jet pilot and it was super strong but still was easy to drink. Great vibe here. I attended the soft opening of this bar and we got there around nine pm. Me and my friends got the punch bowl to start out. Once we tasted the drink, we immediately wanted to order more. At the end of the night we ended up getting two additional drinks each. They all had unique flavor profiles and attention to detail. The interior is pirate and underwater themed, they did great decorating. My favorite part of this whole night was the employees! All very nice, friendly and attentive to their guests. WOW! The ambiance is amazing. The decor is so detailed you forget you are in Davis and not on a tropical island. The drinks were all amazing! Their menu also includes a cheat sheet of alcohol strengths, which is pretty accurate! My favorite light drink was the banana boat it tastes like ice cream in a cup. We also had a mock tail, which was the Agave Spritz and that was DELICIOUS. The bartenders were all so sweet and conversational! Give them a feel for what you like and they have a recommendation for everything! I will be coming back to Davis just for this bar!! read more

Oh, the potential! I can't wait to see how this develops. We went during what I think was a soft opening. They had a line at the front door, only so that the bartenders didn't get behind. So basically they were letting the bartenders make the drinks and let people trickle in. Works for me. Guy at the door was super cool. The vibe is awesome. Check out the pictures. I think that says it all. I would not call it an extensive tiki menu, but it was better than a lot of places I've been to. I tried several drinks because we shared. All in all, I would say they were good, not amazing, but these guys are just getting started. And I've had a lot of tiki, so the bar is pretty high with me. If it doesn't become one of the "barf bars" Davis tends to get on weekends when the university is in session, it's going to be amazing! If it does, I suppose I will be saving my pennies and continuing to make trips to Forbidden Island in Alameda I look forward to seeing how these guys develop this place! I'm definitely hoping for table service in the future. All in all, they are off to a fantastic start, and we will be back to do more research! read more

As someone who has had a fascination with pirates and octopuses all my life this place is a slice of heaven. The atmosphere is beyond our expectations (though a bit narrow), the staff is happy and eager to please, and the drinks are plentiful and strong - though they don't taste strong. Davis has needed a place like this for many years. Go in an off day or the wait could be 90 minutes...that said you want lots of people at the bar which adds to the atmosphere. read more

This is such a great bar in Davis! The vibes, the decor, the ambiance are immaculate. On the outside it looks like just another establishment along downtown Davis but when you go inside you are instantly transported into a paradise! The lights are pretty dim in here. They have plenty of cool seating and my favorite is the prison cells in the back. Very private and very cool. The bathroom decor is great too. All of the bartenders are dressed in their Hawaiian shirts and very friendly. All of the drinks have fun names, my favorite was the ube espresso martini but you can't go wrong with anything here! Located at the former Woodstock Pizza, this tiki bar feels like a breath of fresh air for Davis. The interior is spacious enough to accommodate groups of all different sizes and is well lit enough to be able to enjoy the decor in all its glory. The staff was very friendly and very attentive. The prices are pretty reasonable (at least when comparing it to Jungle Bird in Sacramento) and the drinks are nicely balanced. Cute addition to downtown Davis. The place is completely decked out in typical tiki bar decor; plenty to look at and talk about. Dim lighting, pirate themes, lots of seating both private and some for socializing. Mind was our bartender, she was lovely. We chose two drinks off the menu: Banana Boat was delicious and creamy, Painkiller was very booze forward, they used a dropper to squeeze some alcohol straight down the straws on this one.
