Year round Halloween! This place is fun and tacky in the same way Disney is. I have to give props to the over the top decor including couple jail cells you can sit in. Drinks? Anything with a paper umbrella would do for me. I am too busy soaking up the ambiance.

Shipwrecked tiki bar was an amazing experience for my friends and I. The ambiance and decor is super cool! We got the watermelon lemon drop, painkiller, and zombie jet pilot, and every drink was delicious. Our bartender was Bryan and he provided amazing service and gave us great drink recommendations! We will definitely all be back soon!

A lazy Sunday and the Wife and I decided that a fun way to enjoy the rainy day was to drink some tikis. My first review says it all. Great ambience, great drinks, and most importantly, great service. This update is to once again highlight the service. We were greated and served by Ava today. Good employees are hard to find, and Ava was a dream. She kept the Wife and I great company at the bar. Along with wonderful conversation, she was extremely knowledgeable with the menu, and helped us order drinks when we couldn't decide. They all sound so delicious. While entertaining us, she also remained attentive to the other guests. She was by herself during our visit. Just another fabulous visit and we look forward to returning again....

Nice and fun tiki bar! Went here to check out what was nearby, was very surprised and pleased with everything here! At first going in it's a very dim dark lighting as any tiki bar is, with a pirate ship theme throughout, hence the name of the place, very nice and fun things to look all around. They have booths in jail cells in the back that are fun for small groups and lounge chairs throughout the spot. Not a huge bar so can packed pretty quickly depending on the night. The bartenders were very nice and quick to make our drinks. They have a digital menu so it's easy to always look at what kind of cocktails they offer The couple drinks we had were all great! And honestly don't think you can go wrong ordering any drinks from here The watermelon lemon drop though, would highly recommend if you like a nice sweet drink Saw they offered a Thursday night mojito night so can definitely be something I'd return for All in all would come back again for the great atmosphere and good drinks!

Super unique bar with tropical vibes! Amazing designs and the soft lighting makes it a place perfect for deep convos. The bartender was super nice and was a pro a making the really pretty and strong drinks! 11/10 would recommend!

So much is amazing. Drinks, decor was so unique and very tiki nautical. Bartender was so helpful and kind and patient. We were the first customers at open and had so many questions. She helped us choose good cocktails and shots and tasters and all the things. For a college town or any town, drinks were delish. Run selection decent. Decor decor decor. Only a year old and catering to college kids, but still super solid. Food would up the game perfectly.

    Ube espresso martini.
    Jennifer J.

Three words: ube espresso martini! I'd been craving one since attending a Yelp Elite Event here way back in June, and was super excited to see that Shipwrecked was only a couple of blocks from my hotel on my most recent visit to town. I started the evening at a local sports bar waiting for "the big fight" to begin on Netflix. Well, if you watched that debaucle, you know it was pretty drawn out and eventually felt like the actual fight was never going to begin. I gave up, and headed back towards my hotel with the plan to stop at Shipwrecked. OMG I had forgotten how cool this place is. It's a pirate-themed, tiki paradise that is almost impossible to describe. The lighting is moody, the walls and ceilings are adorned with everything from sharks to octopus tentacles, and they have very creative seating (including private "jail cells" in the back and, rumor has it, a speakeasy type room, too). I settled for a seat on a plush, purple velvet couch near the bar, and soon was sipping on what I'd come here for: the ube espresso martini. Should I have been drinking espresso this late at night? Heck no. But I couldn't resist it's ube-mazingness and figured I'd just skip the 3 little espresso beans floating on top. I have no regrets. (Well, other than not having a second one...in hindsight I wish I'd stayed longer!) The staff here are INCREDIBLE, so friendly and patient with me while I hemmed and hawed about what to get. I really wish we had a place even remotely similar to this in the Seattle area - it's simply amazing and worth visiting even if you're just getting a glass of pineapple juice. Can't wait for my next trip to Davis, as this will definitely be one of my stops again.

    Zombie Jet Pilot
    Christina L.

The best decorated bar ever! Show student ID for a $5 discount on the Zombie Jet Pilot. $15 mojito pitchers on Thursday's. Hard to find seats/table if you go later at night, sharing table at times. When you enter, you get a lei to immerse yourself in the tropical theme. On certain days, there are caricature drawings in the back, great memories with groups. Fun ambiance and good drinks with a few twists. Not strong drinks is the banana boat bliss.

LOVE the vibe here, super well decorated and loved the seating in the "dungeon cells," the drinks were good and had a lot of variety of flavors, bartenders were nice and quick to get our drinks

Had the yummiest drinks and the nicest bartender! Annabella was amazing. Super fun spot if you're ever in Davis!

Watermelon lemon drop w/o the watermelon slice

Champ as always, is the best excellent bartender 12/10. By far our favorite place to go to for the vibes and service.

The Cloudbreaker immediately met my taste buds with bitterness and then left my tongue completely numb for several minutes. Perhaps those sensations would have paid off if they were followed by a calming or THC-like effect, but I didn't experience any change in mental state. The comfortable atmosphere saves this establishment from 1 star. Dim lights, leather couches, chill music, and colorful tiki wall art make for a decent study spot or date night. However, if you're hanging out at a business, you gotta support it, and to support it, you gotta buy something -- I can't see myself buying anything kava-related with any ounce of enjoyment. Surely there must be some variation of a kava drink that tastes delightful. I don't want to spend any more money finding out though.

The food was good, the drinks were great, and the whole atmosphere made for a really fun date night. We started with the Pu Pu Platter, which came with veggie spring rolls, crab rangoon, coconut shrimp, chicken pot stickers, and Huli Huli chicken wings. What I really liked is that you can mix and match the platter. You don't necessarily have to get one of everything, so if you really like the pot stickers, for example, you can double up on those and substitute something else. Everything we had was really good! I also loved the presentation. It came out on a spinning tray with a little warmer in the middle, which was such a cool touch and really added to the tiki-bar experience. Since I'm not a big drinker, I went with a couple of mocktails. Sadly, I don't remember the names or flavors , but I do remember they were AMAZING! Even the fresh pineapple on the rim was good. We also ordered the togarashi fries, and those were really good too! Just watch out for those jalapeños because they had a little kick to them! The dipping sauce that came with the fries was really good as well. My only setback was the lighting. I know a tiki bar is supposed to have a dark atmosphere, but it was so dark that we had a hard time reading the menu and had to use the flashlights on our phones. We definitely weren't the only people doing it either. One last thing I have to mention, the bathroom was REALLY clean! I always appreciate that. Overall, I had a great experience. My girl did a great job picking this spot for the surprise, and we would definitely come back!

Shortly after the "show" began with a backstory of Elias Hawthorne before entering the tiki bar. I wish I could recall the gentleman's name, but I do remember Kim who was assisting him before entering, and throughout the event. Upon entering this tiki bar, you are transformed to an old era. Music from the 40s was playing (which I absolutely loved) and there is so much everywhere to look at. The experience from the very beginning to the very end was so well done and 100% interactive. The gentleman providing the entertainment was outstanding in his story telling, while the bartender and two assistants prepared the cocktails in the coolest Tiki Farm Tiki Mugs that are available for purchase. There is so much visual stimulation. lighting, effects, talking tikis and excellent cocktails. The guests were fully engaged in the story and games, and it was just the right amount of time for this interactive show. The entire staff worked so well together and were engaging and provided excellent customer service. We had eaten prior to the event, so I cannot speak to the food, but it came out quickly and other guests appeared to be enjoying the appetizers. We ended up purchasing three tiki mugs and a RSVLT shirt after the show. Overall we had a wonderful time, and I recommend this adventure for a date night, girl's night or work team building event.

Instead, our experience was ruined by the owner, Gordon Langstaff, and his completely inappropriate behavior around a small child. My son, who is three and on the autism spectrum, briefly picked up a loose electrical cord that was lying on the ground under the patio stairs (I have a photo of how exposed it was). Instead of calmly addressing the situation, Gordon walked over in a rude, irritated tone and said, "Can you do something?" I told him I was already handling it and redirecting my son, but as he walked away he started cursing under his breath, using foul language that was clearly audible right next to my child. There is no excuse for swearing like that in front of a three‑year‑old, especially when the unsafe cord was left out in the open by the restaurant in the first place. Whether or not my son is autistic, families should never be subjected to hostility and foul language from the owner of a restaurant. If you offer outdoor seating and leave cords and other hazards accessible, you should expect children to be curious and respond with basic courtesy, not anger. The food itself was mediocre, and after that interaction it honestly didn't matter. This was supposed to be a special birthday outing, and his attitude and language completely ruined it.

If you cannot resolve a problem, or if it is an ongoing issue, you should escalate it to someone with the expertise and authority to address consumer concerns. Do not wait for customers to approach you after the situation has already deteriorated, especially when a flippant response has shifted the tone of the interaction. Another option would have been to table the conversation for a later time or on a different day until more information was available. What began as a discussion about a product concern quickly became focused on a employee instead of the issue itself. The manager appeared to become frustrated, stated to understand the main concern, yet responded with an unnecessarily intense tone and level of defensiveness. There was considerable deflection, repetition, and what felt like half-truths rather than a sincere effort to work toward a mutual solution. The manager should remember that they represent the Root of Happiness brand.
