The ambience is fantastic -- warm, cozy, and full of ski‑lodge charm. We happened to arrive during trivia night and ended up having an absolute blast with the other patrons. The food was spot‑on across the board. I ordered the Haddock Rachel, along with the cheese curds appetizer, and paired it all with Shipyard's signature draft -- everything was delicious. The only drawback was the pacing of the service. Things moved slowly enough that I found myself repeatedly wondering where our server had gone, which kept the experience from being a full five stars. I've been coming to Shipyard at Sugarloaf for many years. We are mug club members and I always love coming back and having the returning employees give me a hug and a hello! They are engaging and friendly, we love the vibe at the bar! When they have live music, it's the best! and the food is pub style with special entrees as well! In season, Pumpkinhead is the best beer! I went a couple of weeks ago for the $20 beer and burger night I asked for no cheese and no tomato the waitress came back a few minutes later and stated the burger only comes with everything I disagreed and shouldn't have my burger arrived with everything and a laugh from the waitress I would have complained to the manager but she seemed to be in on the joke I scraped off the cheese and tomato and ended up with stomach cramps all night I will never go back or refer anyone to go there I should have known better it's just a seasonal dive bar with amateur staff read more

We stopped at this place with our 3 teens on NYE hoping to get dinner when everywhere else at Sugarloaf was packed. We didn't have a reservation and they were switching things over for a NYE party, but the hostess was so nice and seated us and told us they would fit us in. We had a great waitress who told us it was only her 2nd night but she did a great job! Food was delicious and there was a great drink menu. We will return next time we visit the area! read more

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner around 3pm on a Friday. Place was not busy at this time. Appetizer sampler-it had a variety of things on it including onion rings, sweet potato tots, chicken wings, fries, fried curds, chicken tenders..dont remember what else...it was just alright. Everything was just fried. Nothing special. Needed some flavors. Brussel sprouts--delicious! Nicely flavored. It is a bit oily though.. But I guess that's why it's also delicious. Maine lobster mac and cheese--delicious! It was creamy, the cheese was not too heavy, big chunks of lobster, flavorful. It's a pretty big dish to be shared as an appetizer. Good enough amount for a table of 6 so that everyone gets a decent amount to try. I highly recommend this as an appetizer. Seafood chowder- it was decent. Potatoes were good. The soup is a bit more watery in consistency than new England clam chowders that im used to. Still flavorful though. Nice pieces of lobster. Joe's choice- it's basically a Philly cheese steak. It was delicious. The bread was nice and crunchy. The meat was flavored well and chunky. Cheese wasn't too heavy. Lobster grilled cheese--I tried a small bite and it was good! Service was extremely slow. We have been here for 1.5 hours and we ordered our food at least an hour ago and still have not been served. The waitress has not checked up on us in an hour and the hostess asked us if we needed menus AFTER we had ordered and had been sitting there for an HOUR.... We are very confused and very hungry. Seems as if they are very understaffed but the service is not great. Food arrived after an hour and 45 mins. Completely forgot one of our orders and probably will take another hour to get to us. And the food came out cold. Extremely underwhelmed. We were completely forgotten about and so was our food. The food was not good and it was definitely sitting around for a long time. Not happy at all. The fish and chips were fried TWICE and dry. The French fries were cold. The French onion soup was ridiculous. I would give 0 stars if I could. I Will not be returning and i would suggest you don't either. I cant even type enough to describe our experience. We were just about to get up and leave before they came with our food. Edit: the waitress never checked up on us and was not very friendly. Customer service was just not good. They never explained that they were understaffed or busy so they never apologized for how SLOW their service was or that the food was cold. Our waitress did not seem trained at all. After I informed her I had a daily allergy, she asked what kind of cheese I wanted.... Just very poorly trained. She also forgot peoples drinks 3 times and brought the wrong drinks. read more

Fantastic menu! Great beer! ..... okay service. I will say, the proportion sizes for their food is extremely large. We got the lobster grilled cheese and an appetizer platter (wings, tenders, onion rings, sweet potato fries, garlic fries, and fried cheese curds). The food was really good. The lobster grilled cheese had a lot of quality lobster in there and was buttery and silky. The fried cheese curds were the best part of the platter! They were crispy and cheesy! The service was pretty poor when we went in. It was a Thursday night and there were empty tables, but some still had plates on them so we sat at the bar. It took a while to get our orders in and to get the check. There was only one bartender for a while and when we got our food it looked like another one had arrived to help out. I do like that this is on the mountain and easy to walk to if you're staying at a condo on the slopes! It was definitely worth stopping in. read more

Tried the BLAT sandwich, clam chowder, and chicken cutlet sandwich. The clam chowder was tasty. The chicken cutlet sandwich did not have a lot of flavor but was a good choice for a brunch option. Great food, great atmosphere, slow service. There is clearly not enough staff on hand to service the amount of people eating, and the poor people who are working have to compensate for it. We came from out of town looking for a nice dinner at Sugarloaf. We found Shipyard Brew Haus and we weren't disappointed! Parker K was our server and he was very pleasant, attentive and efficient. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza, Caesar salad and Buffalo chicken dip. All were sooo good. We highly recommend this place and will definitely come back if we are in Sugarloaf again. read more

I very rarely give a bad review, particularly for a place I've historically liked, but.... tonight's meal at the Sugarloaf Inn was awful. Worst meal in a very long time. I get that it's Covid and things are different, but we were seated in the side room and basically forgotten about. I ordered soup, and when they delivered it I had no silverware. I asked for silverware and they gave me a knife and a fork. And then had to wait five minutes for the waitress to come back and then order the spoon. The soup was OK but runny. It was clam chowder. My meal was a special which was teriyaki beef over wok fried vegetables and rice. It was over cooked and dry. And then asked for some soy sauce, and they literally brought out a soup bowl of soy sauce. By then the meal was cold. I ordered another drink!! They make an ok JD and Ginger Ale. I'll come back for drinks at the bar but I will NOT come back for food. My advice go somewhere else. read more

We Love this place ! We try to stay here when they have an opening .. rooms are perfect for a good rest with an amazingly hot shower ! Even on the third Floor! Everything is spotless and the whole place is having a facelift room-by-room.. if your looking for the Jones they're not here just locals and salts of the earths. Now let's get to the food ! Great ski in ski out place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the mountain. We have eaten here for breakfast and lunch, and look forward to dinner soon. Service and food are very very good. The seafood chowder is not to be missed, and the lobster Mac and cheese is also delicious with big chunks of fresh lobster meat. French onion soup is done the right way: slow cooked with lots of flavor and meaty cheese. Burgers are grilled perfectly with a toasted brioche bun. The wait staff are friendly, know the menu, and very efficient. There's a nice ambience with a warm fire going and a perfect view of the slopes. read more

We went into Shipyard at 8:50 pm thinking they served food until 10. The hostesses were going to turn us away (understandably) and a man seeming to be an owner, manager, etc. interjected and ensured it was okay to serve us. He clearly wanted to provide great service and accommodate customers! The food and drinks were all great! Only thing to avoid is the mac and cheese. It apparently tasted like mayo. The severs were very nice. However the food is mediocre and the service is quite poor, pub style food. We ate here because we were staying at the Inn. My 8 year old daughter ordered the kids cheeseburger and it was smaller then a McDonald's burger. 6 year old daughter ordered grilled cheese and it was huge slices of bread with barely any cheese in it. The server forgot our appetizer and never brought bread and butter, though other tables had this. I ordered the tempeh stir fry from the menu, and it came out with tofu (not a problem for me, but maybe for others). It was a pretty busy Friday night but we waited maybe 40 minutes before we got any food after ordering. My husband ordered one of their specialty beers and they were out. Breakfast was okay, standard; again service was lacking and I had to ask to have the coffee refilled several times. One night we ordered pizza to the room, they took my charge card on the phone and never brought the pizza up to the room as they said they would ("we deliver anywhere on the mountain"). Finally I went downstairs with kids in PJs in tow and there was my cold pizza sitting by the reception area. Anyway, I would say okay breakfast, skip the rest. This place has been great since the new crew took over. They kept the old school feel and just made guest service better. I feel like I'm with friends when I'm here. It's nice to go somewhere on the mountain that is independent. The two chairlifts and craft Maine beer are a major plus too. I can't wait for Reggae Fest again! read more

Possibly the worst customer service I have experienced in my years of traveling. There were no checks by the waitress or staff of how the meal was. Appetizer was ordered and not delivered. Empty Food plates sat on the table for approximately 10 minutes after the meal was completed. A second order of drinks was finally able to be ordered after hailing down the waitress after she passed our table at least 8 times. I would not waste my time or money here. read more

Just to be clear, i think this is the Shipyard Brewery Pub in the Sugarloaf Inn. the shipyard. meeh. the beer is a very local beer and will probably stay that way, at least the few that they had in stock. (they were out of stock of perhaps the good ones). the music was good, if you like good, quiet background music nicely played. cost me a tip it was so good. the waitress made mistakes in ordering, in each case upselling. if you want hot soup, you had better ask for it to be pipping hot because they don't normally serve it that way. it would be a natural for people staying in the inn if it worked better. We stayed in the Inn, and despite the pub basically providing all local support, directions, help with the Inn, we ate there once and can't see going back. It does, however, have a wonder location if it's next door, it just wasn't good enough when it was next door. read more

We read the reviews before eating here. There were some not so great reviews, but a lot of good ones, too, so we thought maybe the restaurant was having a bad day. Maybe the reviewer was. We had also heard there was new management, so the older, bad reviews were maybe before the new management took over. We decided to try it out. What a mistake. The food was not good. The service was sub par, at best. Our party of five ordered everything from the burgers, seafood to several appetizers. All terrible. Three of us had two alcoholic drinks a piece, the other two had sodas. The drinks were okay. Then we got the 350.00ish bill. For four appetizers, three burgers, a couple of entrees, three desserts, six drinks and two sodas. This would have been more palatable if the food hadn't of been so awful. Save your money, people. Go to The Bag, The Rack, Tufulios... Anywhere, but here unless you like to throw your money away on bad food. read more
