SHE RETIRED: I am finally getting around to write a review in Yelp about Dr. sevilla after 2…read moreyears. I had been a patient of Dr. Sevilla for 14 years. She was one of the top two doctors I've ever had. Carrying, never in a hurry, friendly. Visiting her is was like visiting a friend and we always started my visit with a hug. I had scheduled an appointment with her for back in March 2023, when I called because I had forgotten the time, I was told that Dr. Sevilla retired and the office was closing. That was unexpected and makes me wonder what happened, since her retiring would not be a logical reason for closing the office since there were other doctors. It makes me wonder if she actually retired or that is what employees were told to say. Regardless I will miss her.

This review is for front desk, billing, and overall experience…read more I went to Dr. Sevilla last year for blood work which came back clean. I knew something was off since I had suspicions of a hormone-related autoimmune disease for a while now. Another doctor performed the same procedure and told me I had to be off my medication (which affects hormone levels) for the blood work to have proper results. Dr. Sevilla knew I was on this medication when I had the blood work done, so I was just confused how this oversight could've happened as according to my other doctor this is standard for the blood work up I was receiving. The other doctor was able to diagnose me properly and I do in fact have a hormone-related autoimmune disease. For the last year, Vanowen Medical Associates has been berating me with letters in the email to pay my small co-pay. I tried paying them in multiple ways, including sending them payment information via the mail (which they requested) and through my insurance. I eventually get a letter saying that I am being sent to collections due to no payment being received! After multiple attempts to pay them over months, I was livid. I tried calling their billing number and office listed on the letter, only to be lead to a recorded voice message with no human on the other end. I had to resort to calling my insurance company, who confirmed they accepted my payment, making me even angrier. The office finally returned my phone call and told me I was paid up and the letter was sent prior to them receiving the payment. I asked them if they could confirm which payment was taken, either via mail or insurance as I wanted to inform them of my attempts and let them know they may have an issue with whoever in the office is responsible for recording sent payments. The receptionist could not have been more snippy and passive aggressive, cutting me off and acting as if them possibly wrecking my credit score due to their incompetence was somehow an inconvenience to her. Overall, just avoid this place. Even though Dr. Sevilla was super nice, the oversight of a diagnosis as well as the negligent billing and rude front desk people are the perfect storm of a nightmare.

She was empathetic and never ever judgmental, as much as I was judging myself at the time. She was unflagging in her optimism while keeping me grounded with enough optimism to go on but never with crazy expectations. I felt grounded in hope; enough to keep going. Dr. Woo was deeply knowledgable in every way. We had a couple unexpected pivots and she was always prepared with another course of action. There was always another option, another way, to get us to where we wanted to be. I really appreciated how much she loved practicing her craft by the joy she genuinely displayed when we had a good breakthrough. Rebecca, her nurse, was thorough and compassionate. She has seen it all but still was patient enough to guide me through every new step of my journey. The clinic was modern, clean, and calm. I felt at ease every time I came, even when there were days when the outcome was not so good. The wait was always manageable, and I never felt like they ran late. Every staff member always smiled and greeted me warmly, and the phlebotomy team was excellent. The monitoring appointments were very easy to schedule. We were coming from an hour away and they accommodated our schedule every time so we could avoid the worst of LA traffic. I never once regretted picking the office even though it was an hour away because I felt like I was getting the best care possible. We paid out of pocket for our care and felt immensely stressed the entire time because it was all of our savings and we did not have anything to spare. Due to my body's many surprises and unexpected turns, we needed more care than we had the financial resources for. Mid way through my mock cycle, I literally said we have to stop because we don't have any more money, and Dr. Woo left the room to speak to her team. Needless to say, we didn't have to stop. We were able to keep going thanks to everyone's coordination and support. I felt like the whole team was there to get me to a positive outcome, not to nickel and dime everything. Given all that Dr. Woo did for us, we truly felt like we did everything we could and we have no regrets. New patients coming into see Dr. Woo should be prepared for a complete care experience by a hands-on physician who will do her own ultrasounds and call you herself. You will feel supported every step of the way and you will be grounded in realistic hope.

She compassionate of our wishes to have a family and was patient with us as we had to go through dealing with endometriosis and PCOS before getting the green light for our IVF transfer. We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Woo's help in starting our family. Dr. Woo transferred for us in January and monitored us for 6-8 weeks before referring us to a great OBGYN nearby. Our baby girl arrived in October thanks to Dr. Woo!

He asked me to dumb myself down so he could lead me down a road. When I asked questions for clarity on something he huffed and spoke down to me. He's a chiropractor who can't give straight forward answers to cost and next steps. Felt like a car salesman with a huge ego. Patients are empowered when their doctors partner with them on care. When you treat patients like pests or get annoyed when they proactively ask questions, you're NOT a good doctor.

His bedside manner alone is already a fantastic attribute, as he is non intimidating, attentive and extremely empathetic. These are qualities in a Doctor that chronically ill patients need in order to achieve wellness. His consultation was so thorough, that I felt a light bulb turn on above my head, even as foggy brained as I was when I walked in. I thought he wouldn't take my case because my symptoms were such a mystery to every other doctor that I have seen. He even said I was in pretty bad shape but knew he could help me. I had faith in him... But the important thing is, he had faith in ME. His protocol was fabulous, since it was based in the studies of the famous Dr Karrazian. What it even more fabulous was that he needed a compliant patient.. And that was ME. He could see right through me and knew how badly I wanted to get well. I saw him 3-4 years ago and I'm still healing everyday because he sent me on that road. Honestly, I have never felt better.. And I'm 45 years young. He was also the inspiration for me to start studying nutrition and earning my certificate. I have hence started my own company called igutgood nutrition. I cannot thank him enough for helping me achieve health and wellness. My only wish is that I had met him earlier in life so I could enjoy more years of feeling well... I had been suffering for 2 decades with one autoimmune disease after another... From RA to Fibromyalgia to Hashimoto's... So there you have it... See him while you can. Sometimes he offers free 15 min consults. Just remember one thing, if you are not compliant, don't waste your time or his. He is a busy man and there are people out there who really need him, like I did. Happy healing!!
