So, in the middle of the day on Easter Sunday the three of us decide we want to go out to eat, no reservations, no pre-planning. After a quick YELP search, we called Shish Kabob who said they could accommodate us, so we headed right over. Once we got there, we were warmly greeted by the owner and his wife. The place was overall super comfortable and homey. we ordered an eggplant salad for an app with pita bread which was excellent and then for mains we ordered three different kabob platters: one ground chicken and beef, one lamb, and one chicken all came with rice and salad. I can only speak to the chicken kabob platter which was the only one that also came with a half lemon, and will say that it was overall delicious. The meat was well seasoned, the rice was warm and delicious and the salad was so good, that we got another big bowl to share. Overall Shish Kabob was a big win. Charming little restaurant with pretty Persian tea sets and trinkets throughout. Owner is warm and welcoming. It was a fortuitous day as he made Ghormeh Sabzi Stew, the national dish of Iran, for us to sample, which was EXQUISITE. I'm surprised it wasn't on the menu, but hopefully this review will convince the owner to add it on!!! We also liked the Beef Sultani and Beef Koobideh. My first time eating at a Persian restaurant in RI! Got the beef soltani platter. The platter consists of beef kebabs and minced meat in the form of kebab over rice. The kebabs were juicy, tender, flavorful and delicious. The rice was quite good too. The portion size was good for 2 people. Overall I enjoyed the food. The food is definitely authentic Lebanese/Syrian, and is absolutely delicious in a home made way. On a Thursday for lunch there was only one gentleman there cooking the food, the owner of the place. He was extremely nice, and worked as quickly as he could for one person. Don't come here expecting a gourmet dining experience, but for the comfortable, homey feeling, and the ability to sit and talk with your dining partner for hours without any interruption. The restaurant is a small spot with seating for about 10 people. They have a deli style open glass fridge in the middle of the place so you can see the prepared items and kebabs. My wife and I both ordered the chicken kabab platter, 9 dollars. Delicious fresh kebabs with chicken and vegetables, rice, and salad. So light and well seasoned food. The kind of meal that you feel good after you eat it, because all of the items are pretty healthy too. Tip: The item to order here is the Tabouleh!!!! The most delicious version I have ever had. This is probably my tenth visit to Shish Kabob, but my very first yelp. My mom and I originally found this gem about 12 years ago and have come here every time I come home to visit my family in RI. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but don't let it scare you away! If you don't stop in you are most def missing out on excellent food and excellent customer service by the very nice owner. For appetizers we had the Tabouleh and stuffed grape leaves...one word magnificent! We ordered the beef kabob platters cooked medium rare, by the way was right on the money and perfectly delicious.
