I came here with my sister and her friend when they were visiting me in RI. They said it was a popular place to go as a tourist (?). Although I enjoyed the views of the river from the restaurant, the food was just alright. Service was a bit slow the day that I went and the food did not stand out to me. My poached eggs were overcooked (nearly hard boiled) which was disappointing for the price that they were charging. I'm still dreaming about the shrimp dish over polenta. Wow was it azaaazzzzing!!!! The establishment itself is very visually appealing and even more so if you get the opportunity to snag a table outside to enjoy Waterfire. My friends and I shared a few plates but here's 4 pics. Everything was so tasty and unique. I wasn't crazy about having to pay to park in a nearby lot but that's not the restaurants fault. Went here for brunch on a nice Sunday morning and was able to sit outside. Great view if you can sit outside. We got there when it opened so we did not have to wait. Our server arrived quickly to grad our drink order. They give you the option for ice or hot coffee which I liked. We both ordered omelets, I ordered the Mediterranean my husband ordered the meat lovers. We were both very happy with our meals. They played club music fairly loud outside which was kind of surprising for brunch. Prices were average, we would definitely go back! read more

I had a very enjoyable brunch here recently with a colleague! The scenery is quite nice with a view of the river, the menu is very appealing and the service is good overall. We both tried the crab cake benedict which was the perfect portion size, not too big and not too small. I really enjoyed the home fries which are spiced with za'atar seasoning. It was a delightful surprise, and an unexpected flavor profile but it went well with some of the other Mediterranean style dishes on the menu. Meh. Best thing about this place was the view from the patio. Went for brunch today - and yes, it's Mother's Day - but there were several empty tables and nobody working seemed to be showing any signs of urgency so I wouldn't say they were just overwhelmingly busy as an ex plantation for the slow service. Food came out after at least a half hour - I checked the time on a text from a friend that I got after placing our order to get a general idea of how long it had been and that text was 30 minutes old. My food was not hot. The chicken and waffles was maybe lukewarm, because calling it cool sounds like it had a chill to it which it didn't. It just was not hot, neither were the tots. $19 for chicken and waffles with a small piece of chicken and mediocre waffle. Very little checking in once food was dropped. I also am confused by the menu. It's limited and also didn't seem to match reality? We asked about pancake size and were told it was four small pancakes - menu said three. Not a big deal. But then menu said fries with the burger and we were asked if we wanted sweet potatoes or onion rings. Something else was off - but I forget already. I wish there were more food choices on the menu - or sides? Like a side of bacon? Maybe you can ask and get it but it seems like a small menu. And the sriracha aioli had zero heat to it. My friend and I loved the brunch here! I'm actually surprised at their ratings because I believe it's worth a try and would go back. I had the seafood Benedict which was delicious with a side of fruit and a Bloody Mary. My friend had the steak Benedict with potatoes. Don't normally leave food reviews but this place was egregiously horrendous. Short staffed and waited 20 minutes for drinks and over an hour for food. Food was cold and undercooked. Watched more larger parties arrive after us and received even worse service. On top of that, 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill for parties of 4 or more which at other places where service is adequate is fine but here its a complete slap in the face. Food was also overpriced given the small portion sizes. Only good thing this place has going for it is the ambiance as it sits right on the river downtown. I do not recommend this place. I really wanted to like this place but it was just very average. I was shocked because the location was so pretty, right by the water and the inside was put together so nicely. My friend and I ordered multiple appetizers and both didn't "love" anything besides the shrimp. But even those I thought were over cooked. The empanadas barely had any meat and I found a short black hair in the mushrooms. I could not stomach much after that. Our waitress was very attentive the entire time we were there. Stopped it for the first time during Restaurant Week after having this in my Providence Collection since they opened a year ago. All of their offerings looked great so I was glad I went with a group so I could try a number of the dishes. The location is great sitting right on the river and they have done a great job with the decor. The nigh we were there there was only one person serving, both the tables and the bar. She did a great job managing both and was attentive to us as guests. For apps we selected the Shrimp and Polenta and the Crispy Cheese Triangles. The shrimp was tasty and the polenta came out in a small fried disk shape that the shrimp were presented on. It was a nice combo. The Cheese Triangles were a big upgrade to fried cheese sticks. For our entrees we tried three of them, we missed the Risotto (which looked fantastic, but I wanted a couple of Scallops to fall on it so it wasn't a vegetarian dish). I got the Rosemary Lamb Rack over Polenta (I guess it was a polenta themed night for me). The lamb as excellent. It had a great Dijon coating. My wife got the Pulled Pork Shank, great flavor! I also got a bite of the Duck which was a winner as well. For dessert we went with the Bombolini, pastry willed with Nutella (great) and the Baklava Sandwich (who doesn't like Ice Cream stuffed Baklava). Great meal, great place. read more

The hostess sat us in the blazing sun outside for brunch... when requested one of the four fully shaded tables, she stated they were reserved. 3 of 4 remained empty when we left 45 minutes later. Picture attached shows a "Crispy" Chicken and Waffles... the chicken was a freezer chicken disc you could buy at Walmart. Bloody Mary menu online from 2021 listed 8 different adder options for your bloody Mary... current menu we scanned had 2. We did ask for the manager and he refund our frozen chicken waffles... this was appreciated and resulted in the second star. So my fiancé and I were trying to kill some time in Providence and made a 4:15pm reservation at this restaurant. I've got to say - never been this genuinely disappointed by a meal. We walk in and there's one other party in the corner but otherwise the place is deserted. There's about four employees at the bar chatting. We order two spicy margaritas and split the kafta. Honestly at this point things are going pretty well. Spicy marg was absolutely delicious and the kafta was great! I really loved it, and it was a great app to split between two people. I went to the bathroom at this point and was kind of shocked. The whole restaurant is kind of instagrammy, with the neon signs and greenery on the wall but the bathroom was super icky in comparison. The majority of the floor was wet, and there was cleaning products scattered under the sink in such a way that I couldn't even properly stand in front of the sink to wash my hands easily. Pretty frustrating considering the restaurant was still empty and everyone was standing around when we got there... seems like no one thought about cleaning the one bathroom they have during all the down time. Then we go back and my fiancé and I have ordered the filet medallions to share. Okay, this is a $45 meal, and it's 4:20pm at this point so we aren't very hungry, we figured that a meal that is called "Filet Medallions" and costs $45 would be a good one to share, right? The meal comes out in two plates - which is great because we said we wanted to split it. Each plate has a filet and a half of steak, fries, and a salad. First and foremost- the steak had nothing on it. No sauce, no juus, no gravy. Just a steak with fake looking grill marks instead of a proper sear. Furthermore, the filet was not a good cut of steak - had that stringy and tough quality that chuck steak tends to have. The fries were marketed as fries with feta - all my fries had two chunks of feta and that was it. Feels like if you're going to market it as feta fries then maybe put a bit more thought into it? Didn't have a lot of flavor at all. The salad was fine. Not a lot happening there, but pretty hard to mess up salad. Overall, the meal was comparable to a "steak" dinner at a Chilis or Applebees. I'm honestly leaving this as a two star because I mean, it was edible. Just a massive fucking disappointment and a waste of money. All in all, two margaritas, two glasses of wine, the kafta and the "filet" was $145 after tip. I am perfectly happy paying that much for a decent meal, but this one was definitely not worth half this much. They also charged us $2 extra for our filet, maybe because we split it? I feel like ordering an app and the most expensive item on the menu and four drinks at ~4:35pm should have prevented us from getting a "split fee" but whatever. As an aside, our server didn't have a very good attitude, but trying not to hold it against her because well, it's the pandemic and sometimes life just sucks, so be it. read more

My husband and I stumbled across this place on our walk to see the Capitol building during our weekend getaway to Providence. We walked by and saw part of the restaurant doors open but a close sign so we asked when they will be open and they were very friendly and offer to serve us drinks until the kitchen is open for food at 5pm. The bartender/server was very friendly and sociable. He was straight forward and made great drinks. I had the seasonal sangria with watermelon. It was tasty and refreshing easy to drink. My husband ordered the Have Merci except the bartender made the Burbon Bravo instead which he was fine. We decided to order some small plates to share. We had the ahi tuna, shrimps and chips along with the forbidden rice. All the dishes were flavorful and yummy with each distinct taste and light too! We dined at this restaurant on our first night in Providence and could not have been much happier with our choice. The view overlooking the water would be difficult to improve on as was the food and service. A total of of 4 dishes were shared by my wife and I: roasted eggplant, roasted beet salad, shrimp and polenta, and seafood peperonata. This is a great new place. I didn't realize Quay was gone until I saw the sign for The River Social in its place, and I hope it sticks around! There is a great vibe here--the owner is young, interested in creating a good atmosphere, and dedicated to quality. The menu is mixed Mediterranean, influenced by all coastal areas: Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Israel. I saw spicy feta on the menu and swooned (the feta they use is Greek!) but oh man! The other dips! We got a sampler of all five meze dips -all made fresh in house- and the presentation was straight out of an Egyptian coffee house, and it lived up to its appearance! All the dips were delicious, it was hard to pick a favorite - I might say the yogurt...it reminded me of something my Persian friend used to make. Even though I was with a friend who opposes eating octopus, she consented to taste the one on their menu (from Spain), and she became a converted octopus fan. This is NOT a baby octopus...it was one of the closest renditions I've had in RI to an actual Mediterranean experience, I do recommend it! Not to mention the potatoes it's served with are A-MAZ-ING. Next we got Tater Tot Sliders, and these are no joke. They'd be perfect late-night, drunk food, but they're also good sober-evening food; note, a knife and fork are required for consumption. The tater tots themselves are homemade, and they don't taste super greasy or fried. We were planning to get a main dish, but those three filled us up! We did, however, opt for dessert. Unfortunately they weren't stocked with Knead that day (they have an awesome collaboration dessert with Knead donuts!) so we opted for chocolate mousse and a scoop of the black raspberry ice cream that comes with the Knead dessert. Two thumbs up. ALSO: This is a great place for GF options, and the cocktails list is impressive. This new restaurant near Waterplace Park, on the banks of the river has a beautiful setting. Its soft opening was Dec 29th. The food was good, here is what we tried... Hummus - nice and fresh with pita and bread in a basket. Roasted beet salad - nice and refreshing with bits of orange and goat cheese. Shrimp and chips - Four large jumbo shrimp well cooked and seasoned over a green mojo sauce. Tiny potato chips topped the dish. Filet mignon - It came with a nice sauce, potatoes and mushrooms. Welcome to the city! Was very happy to see another new place. The menu was interesting with a variety of options. Had the Falafel and octopus app! Falafels were some of the best I have had. Light and fluffy on the inside with a nice crisp crust! Served with a hummus though. I would change that up and maybe a taziki or labneh! . The octopus was well season. When you arrive finding parking is the toughest part, but there is a lot you can pay to park at across the street unless you can snag 1 of the few on street parking spaces. This is a hidden gem because you have to walk down the stairs over by waterplace to find it, but well worth the treasure hunt. Bottomless Mimosas?! Yes please. Chicken and waffles WITH TATER TOTS?! Yes Yes Yes Please! The waitstaff was friendly and even though they closed early on Sundays they never rushed us out. We sat laughing, drinking, eating, and being silly not even realizing how long we had been dining. I loved that the most since COVID eating out anywhere there is the countdown of doom hanging over your head, but not here. They let us dine and enjoy the rainy Sunday. I shoulda trust my gut! Terrible experience on Mother's Day. Many RED FLAGS. 1 - There are 2 names for this restaurant and no information on the website. 2 - We had a reservation for 7 people. When I called to confirm I was hung up on twice! 3 - there is an elevator, however it is out of service. My daughter has a broken ankle. And had to climb down 2 flights to get to the door. 4. The first table of customers we saw was irate with the service and ended up leaving. 5 we waited 45 minutes outside for our table with my elderly mother in the cold. 6. Host offered us a table for 4 with 7 chairs. We said no we reserved a table for 7. He would not pull another table over for us. Even though it was open. So we left. Terrible customer service! If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. This restaurant is under new management/ owners and with all new staff they thought they should continue with Mother's Day brunch. As someone in the restaurant industry I hesitate to leave reviews, but every part of this experience was horrible. It was the servers first day there and honestly serving in general. They open at 10, and at 11 they were out of so much already. It took 30 minutes to get mimosas that were basically juice. As we waited for our food we watched as families showed up for their reservations and were told they had to wait as they didn't have tables. When the food came out it was cold, French toast tasted as if it was frozen previously. The eggs Benedict was incredibly disappointing from someone who orders it frequently. The pizza we ordered came out as an omelette, when they tried to bring it out again it was missing ingredients. When we asked to speak to a manager no one came over. As this was going on we watched as people were sat with no one going over to serve them. Although they are "new" we will never be returning to give a second chance. If you can't handle a busy day, don't open yet. We made sure to share our experience with other patrons on our way out. Tonight we visited the River Social for the first time. The location is spectacular. We sat outside by the river which was such a nice spot to enjoy our dinner. We were seated promptly and our waitress was extremely attentive. I never had to ask for a drink refill (which I love) and she checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. This was our first time to a restaurant since COVID and it was really just such a great evening. For starters we had the selections appetizer (get the spicy feta, it's amazing!) and the Mediterranean salad. They were both so flavorful and fresh and I especially loved the presentation. For our main course, I had the mini Naans, my husband had the steak and my mother in law had the Turkish lentil soup. Everything was truly phenomenal- so fresh and so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We finished our evening with the Bombolini which was so light and airy yet decadent at the same time. Great place to eat, the location is perfect. Nice drinks selection and decent vegetarian options. I recommend the spicy feta dipping and pita bread. The pita bread just without any dipping is yum. This is a small place so I would definitely recommend reservations before coming. The place is clean and comfortable with a very hipster style, but the seats next to the windows are very cold this time of year. The location is beautiful if you like the urban waterfront! The food overall was very good but the service, mainly the bar, was very slow. Could be for a number of reasons but they should definitely consider adding a second bartender on busy nights. The 3 course Valentine's dinner looked promising and the first 2 courses were. The caprese sliders and the chicken soup were good. The pink vodka penne and shrimp and the chicken marsala were very good! The last course crashed and burned. The "Cake Flight" was tasteless and not pleasant to eat. Neither of us finished it. Great location on the water at Exchange Street! There is free valet parking, indoor, and outdoor dining. The menu is Mediterranean inspired with plenty to choose from. Mini naan with fried haloumi cheese and pork belly was a great start, and really made us rethink what we were going to do with our naan at home. Bowl of Sangria didnt hurt either!
