I was overcharged for an order. I visited Shish Palace's online platform to place my order. As a subscriber to DoorDash, I opted to pick up the order personally due to the high additional charges associated with using DoorDash. Upon collecting my order, I discovered that it was ordered via DoorDash, and I had indeed paid the extra fee. Furthermore, despite one of the dishes containing pine nuts, they attempted to charge me an additional fee for them. The menu explicitly states "hummus with lamb and pine nuts." I've been going to Shish Palace for years but I'm done. The Shish Kafta was so dry from being reheated. So it's upset with my experience today. We ordered from this place all the time- they are quick to assemble large orders and the food is always hot and ready. We like this place so much that we catered my daughter's grad party from here. The food is very good and the team very easy to work with. Our favorites are the chicken and meat shwarmas and the beef Kafka. For apps you must try the fried cauliflower. However, we added olive oil to the rice which instantly added moisture. I do not think I will patronize this restaurant again. It is an unassuming spot in a strip mall but for a little local spot for some good Mediterranean, I was pleasantly surprised! The garlic sauce is dairy free and wonderful so ready the meal was off to a great start. The service was attentive, our server was knowledgeable about what items had dairy which was very helpful. I felt comfortable ordering and really enjoyed my meal, especially the salad. I crave Shish Palace at least once a week while I'm in the area- it's just sooo good. The spices and herbs always taste so fresh, and the entrees are served in what feels like family style portions, which means I usually have left overs or a second meal if not sharing it all to start with. One of my favorites is the Zesty Ghallaba with Chicken. Basically a plate of hummus, covered in sautéed and seasoned veggies, topped with spiced and seasoned chicken. You can get it spicy or mild- the zesty is flavorful either way. Plus it comes with their tasty almond rice! To make it even more of a meal to share, I add a fattoosh salad. When dining in, you get complimentary warm pita bread and a rich garlic paste, and it's all just sooo tasty. If I'm just in need of a quick lunch, or a lighter dinner, their wraps are great options if you don't want to share and just need a smaller portion. They have great options for vegans as well. The pita bread, garlic paste, hummus, falafel, fattoosh, tabouli, veggies, baba gahnoosh, vegetarian grape leaves, Mjadara Wrap (lentils), all fit vegan diets. You can have a serious feast and leave fat and happy as a vegan here. The ambiance feels a little like fast food because there are a lot of take out orders and people waiting to leave with their order during busy times, but there are plenty of booths for a more cozy sit down experience and some tables that can hold a group, with decorative scenery and Arabic music. There's usually just one server taking orders, so the pace of dining in is definitely designed for people who want to sit and enjoy their company rather than for those in a hurry- get take out for that. read more

Had this delivered through Door Dash and it was just as fresh and scrumptious as I had hoped. I'm not really a fan of Mediterranean food but slide me a big, crisp salad with a nice vinaigrette and I'm in heaven. I saw a post for this place and someone included a picture of their Fattoosh Tawook Salad and I immediately knew what I'd be having for lunch today. The salad comes in its own styrofoam, separate from the chicken. Let me tell you now, this chicken is some of the tenderest, juiciest, tastiest that I've ever had. The dressing is bursting with flavor and just compliments it all so well. They also included 3 warmed mini pita's. This is definitely enough for 2 or for multiple meals. My visit on December 18th, the plate I always order (lemon chicken) very dry, burnt and tasted only if burnt food. The portions have changed, with very little chicken and the price increased to $24 for a rice and one skewer of burnt chicken. I'll never return. read more

Yes, this is located in a strip mall, and it's very small. Normally, there would've been rows of seats on both sides of the narrow restaurant, but they've limited seating to just one side. The decor is modest, even when operating normally. So, no, it's not a palace. Get over it, your majesty: the food is fit for a king. There's a good reason for that. Shish Palace shares its DNA with the legendary former Dearborn powerhouse, La Shish. Key people behind La Shish are also involved in Shish Palace. That's why the hummus is flawlessly silky and perfectly seasoned, the pita bread is fluffy and always freshly baked, and really dang near everything you order will be a winner. The salmon salad can be served with spinach (which I chose) or mixed greens. The spinach tastes like it's fresh from the farm. The salmon is beautifully charred and nicely seasoned. It's a bargain for $13.99. The chicken shawarma wrap was a fave of mine at La Shish, and it's the same wonderfully balanced torpedo of awesome here: just the right amount of seasoned, grilled chicken, pickle, hummus, and garlic paste. For $4.99, I wish I had ordered more than 2. I ordered carry out through the Yelp app, which made things easy. They nailed all my special requests, and it was waiting for me when I walked in. I saw the baklava at the cash register- big pieces - for a reasonable $9.99. I dare you to leave without buying one: if you do, you have more willpower than I do. The menu is reduced, as many places have done, but everything is executed flawlessly. And, you get a lot for your money. You might not want to dine in, but get a carry out. And add some baklava. Their online ordering system was easy to navigate. Once my order was confirmed they said they'd send a text once it was completed. I arrived minutes before the expected pick up time but I headed inside anyway, even without the text, and they were bagging it up right there. Everything was delicious! The shish kafta was a little spicier (seasoned) than I anticipated but no complaints! Also, I did overhear an employee complain to another about a mutual coworker calling off work. Above and beyond customer service!!! I ordered the chicken sauté for pick up (my absolute favorite Mediterranean dish in metro-Detroit!) and turns out I sent my order to Shish PALACE in Troy! Instead of making me drive 20 minutes to the other restaurant to pick up my already made food, these guys insist on calling the manager over there to cancel my order and then OFFERED TO MAKE IT for me - completely FREE. This is just unheard of! If I worked there, I would have said, "tough luck, your food is 20 min away!!" Well naturally, I tipped them significantly and they then asked me if they could make my dish into the full blown meal with bread, soup/salad and a side! I just wanted the chicken! My 8 year old daughter was with me and we talked the whole 20 minute drive home about how blown away we were. You just don't get customer service like THAT anywhere. I didn't even deserve it! Meat portions will vary depending on if you get chicken or lamb, they absolutely load you up with chicken but are a bit more conservative with lamb. Great rice with almond slivers, but their chicken is just okay, nothing exceptional. Overall very solid local place. I called ro check that they are open for dine-in. I was out on hold immediately. I was on hold for over 3+ minutes and then the guy came on line for a second and then hung up on me as I said hello. Nice. I called back and the guy put me on hold immediately again. I couldn't get in a word at all with this staff member. I called back and finally the got back to me a short while later so I could ask about dine-in, all just to be told they are only doing carry out. So I have been counting down the seconds until I could eat Shish Palace again. We definitely do not have a Lebanese food scene in Atlanta. I just ordered a bunch of stuff when we got carry out as a family. The portions are very generous. The hummus is sooooo smooth and creamy. Only two of the four of us eat gluten, but we had enough pitas for an army. I am one of the unlucky ones who cannot eat gluten, so I just drooled over the soft pitas, but can't comment on them. I have been taking carry outs from these two locations for years. Not the best middle eastern food but acceptable. We don't have too many around so had to compromise. And I was OK with that. They started aggressively rising their prices 5-6 years and I was still ok with that. Last week wanted to order family dinner and found out that now average cost of dish is about $24 !!! Twice compared to 6-7 years ago. So, I am taking my business elsewhere. The can have it with their obnoxious get rich fast scam. Will not be giving them a dime. read more

I ordered the chicken sauté appetizer which had more mushrooms than chicken ($17), hummus ($12) which had an odd taste, baklava ($5) for 3 quarter sized pieces that looked like they were store bought, spinach pies ($10) barely had any spinach and deboned chicken ($35) which offered a soup or salad but there was an up charge for the salad! We decided to try this restaurant based on the reviews in Yelp and we are glad we did! The dishes we ordered were delicious, service was quick and ultra friendly. This restaurant is busy all the way to close - lots of people coming in and out for take out food and many dining in as well. We ordered the vegetarian maza and the lamb with hummus. EVERY dish in the vegetarian maza was really good and were served in the perfect portion for two people. It included falafel, stuffed grape leaves, baba ganoush, fatoush, tabbouli and sliced fresh vegetables. Lamb hummus was equally as good in taste and portion. Lamb was just the right amount, served in small bite-sized pieces (and not too small like other places) on top of a bed of hummus, topped with toasted pine nuts. The lamb alone was juicy, had an excellent taste and you could tell was freshly cooked. The hummus was smooth and seasoned perfectly and generous in portion. I would order these dishes over and over - it was that good. The waiters throughout the restaurant were very friendly and greeted everyone in the restaurant. They were attentive, checking if food and service is ok and if we needed anything throughout dinner. We were there fairly late in the evening and the young waitstaff were very professional (again, very friendly and all working hard) and they did not rush us. I point out that they are young because in other restaurants the waitstaff left at the end of the night to close are usually young and in a hurry to close up, not caring about their patrons who are still trying to enjoy their meal. When I called back we weren't really given much support for correction either so their was no resolution. Been coming to shish palace for years since my college days at OU. First review I'm writing on this business and definitely have to do it at the OG location in Rochester. There are obviously many Mediterranean options in metro Detroit area, but Shish Palace always stands out as the best choice for me to always go back to whenever I crave middle eastern food. They are always consistent in all of their dishes. The lentil soup is by far the best you will find dining out. My staple is always the deboned chicken which even at half portion will leave you full or with leftovers. Personally like mine mixed, but it is marinated well and fresh always. They have multiple locations now so I switch between Rochester and auburn hills mostly now, but they're if not the best, atleast one of the best options if you want to dine out Mediterranean food or takeout. My personal favorites: Deboned Chicken, Lamb Chops, Shish Tawook, and lentil soup. read more

This was our first time here. It was first recommended to us by our waiter at Ollie's in Dearborn who said it is very good as well and his son ( or some relative) worked here. So I had it bookmarked on Yelp for over a year and today is the day. We were seated immediately as it was 11:30am on Saturday and the fresh, hot pita bread basket and accompanying garlic sauce and salsa were delivered to our table. Because it was very cold out (single digit), my wife ordered hot coffee that was good without any fixin's; I went with a plain old Diet Coke. We decided to ordere the Shish Combo for Two that came with choice of two soups or salads and we both ordered the Lentil Soup since, again, cold. In order to keep this a short story and not memoir, I'll just say that everything was as good as it gets! The soup was hot; the Kabob, Tawook, and Kafta were tasty and delicious; Rice was seasoned just right; Fresh Pitas were hot and fresh; the Garlic Sauce was Transformative! In fact, I ate so much Bread and Garlic Sauce, and the Shish Combo so voluminous, we took over half of it home. So we will have at least one more meal from it at home. Ollie's in Dearborn has been our favorite for Middle Eastern food for a long time, and maybe it still is. But when I can find a restaurant where the food is just as good, the service is just as professional and friendly, the prices are competitive, AND it is more in my backyard, well you just know I'll be back! read more
