We went for lunch on June 19 with a group of 11. We were served drinks and we ordered some appetizers for the whole table. Once we all ordered our main course, unfortunately it took well over an hour to be served. We wondered if the food would actually ever come? We think there were only two people working in the entire place. It was almost as if they called the cook in when we ordered? There were only two other tables in the restaurant so it wasn't like it was crowded and busy. The food was good. I had smoked chicken along with the Mac and cheese and it was delicious, although a few people said their food was cold. But no one wanted to send it back since they were starving at this point. Then came time for the checks. A huge fiasco! First it seemed as though should could not get whatever system they were using to work. When I approached her to ask if I could get my check as I had a doctor's appointment and needed to leave, she said I am having a problem. So I sat back down and patiently waited. We all did. Well over an hour later we got our checks and then it took well over another half hour to pay. All and all we were there for 3 hours for lunch! Unacceptable service! No apologies. No offer of anything to make up for this. Perhaps if she served us some coffee or a couple of desserts for the table while she sorted out whatever problem it was she was having it would have gone a long way to appease us during our long wait! My family and I decided to have dinner here after hearing good things about the restaurant. There were nine of us, and when we arrived the dining room was relatively quiet, so we expected a smooth experience. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken without any problems. After ordering our meals, however, the wait became excessive. Nearly an hour and a half passed before our entrees reached the table. We checked with our server a couple of times and were simply told the kitchen was running behind. Considering there were several empty tables throughout the restaurant, the delay didn't make much sense. When the food finally arrived, some dishes were excellent while others had clearly been sitting for a while and were only lukewarm. Everyone was hungry enough that no one wanted to send anything back and wait even longer. The biggest frustration came when it was time to leave. Splitting the bill turned into a drawn-out process because the payment system kept having issues. We spent close to another hour waiting for our checks to be corrected and processed before we could finally pay and head home. In the end, what should have been an enjoyable meal lasted nearly four hours. Delays can happen, but what was disappointing was the complete lack of communication, apology, or effort to make things right. You would not believe the lengths I would go for some good brisket. I just drove an hour to visit south Florida's only smoke house that uses Texas post oak wood. If you know you know. They have a huge space, their patio is gorgeous and can handle the Miami Heat. Somehow through sorcery they're able to maintain their outside patio at around 72 degrees in the summer. We checked them out for their new brunch menu, they have all the fixens, their brisket passed the test and if you go with a big group you have to try their pulled pork rustic fries. Those fries are beer battered to perfection with pulled pork. Their biscuits and gravy with the chefs signature pickled onions was an elevated version to comfort and I love their version of the corn bread. They combined banana annnnd corn bread. Genious. We came in on a Tuesday and it was empty when we came in. It was literally just us but slowly a couple more people trickled in. Don't let that fool you I promise you the food was still fresh and delicious. It seems like the weekend is their busiest times because they offer karaoke and music and things like that. During the week you can a more calm environment. We got a platter the one priced at $85 meant to be shared. We were 4 and we had lots to take home. The banana corn bread is a nice surprise, a creative twist on a classic. I would say the bbq has a Caribbean flair, maybe even Cuban. Being Cuban myself I season my ribs the same. Lastly, they don't take cash and they don't specify that they don't until you're ready to pay which is ridiculous and incredibly inconvenient. I went to this restaurant maybe the second week of January to this restaurant and didn't post about it. The reason I'm posting it now is because my friend got food from there and brought some back and when I tell you I still wasn't impressed, I really wasn't. Also, for the owner to try and say that my review is fake rather than act professional and ask more questions is ridiculous.
