Recommendations from their ever-changing menu: Cabbage, Bagel, Pesto Pasta, and Panna Cotta. Less so, but good: Wagyu, Beans. Not Worth it, but tasty: Tuna, Brownie I was at this very popular Israeli spot yesterday with three others, where we shared a bunch of their dishes. Overall, the food was pricey but excellent, though one dish in particular (the tuna) didn't feel as worth it as the others. The space was on the darker end (queue bad photos), lit by candlelight, and there wasn't a huge amount of space on the table. Thankfully, they spaced out the dishes well, so it didn't become an issue, except maybe for one course where we had to put the water container on the floor. Our server was very friendly, and she gave some good recommendations. To drink, I had a glass of Cidrerie du Vulcain Poiré, a pleasantly flavored, lightly sweet pear cider from Normandy for $17. Another person enjoyed a cocktail for $23 or $24, which had a bourbon base, some citrus, and a Laphroaig foam, which he said added some peatiness to the aroma. I had a small sip and enjoyed it also. First to arrive were two orders of their Hot Jerusalem Bagel, or Ka'ak, served with olive oil and za'atar. They were $12 each, and they were warm and toasty. The outside was crunchy, while the inside was soft, and they went nicely with the spice and oil mix. Soon arriving was the $38 Tuna Toro Marmalade, the one dish that wasn't worth it. It was served with seasonal fruits/veggies, which in this case were cantaloupe, watermelon, apple, and cucumber. The tuna was high quality, and each accompaniment went well, but there wasn't enough tuna to justify the price point. I would have possibly been fine with it being $10 less or so, which would match somewhat similarly fancy spots, but not for it being pricier than most entrees. Next was one of my favorites of the night, the Cabbage Melting Into Itself for $23, with beef stock and sour cream. The dish was aptly named, with the cabbage being so soft that the inside broke down once it was cut. It was on the richer end, with some sweetness, and the sour cream helped reduce the richness. This was excellent, and as the server said, one was enough. From the same Vegetable Creatures section was the $26 A Half Pound of Cranberry Beans, served with anchovy butter. The beans themselves had a bit of spiciness along with some natural nuttiness with a soft texture. The anchovy butter was on the single piece of toast on the side, though I think for sharing purposes, it should probably be split into a couple of toast points or something similar. This was also tasty. Next was their signature dish, the 76 Layers of Wagyu Flat Iron on a Very Sharp Steel for $48, served with tomato, salsa, and tahini. The number of layers is a bit of a gimmick, as they are very tiny, but there was an adequate amount of very tender and flavorful meat. Outside of the presentation, the sauce on the bottom was very light, so it didn't contribute much. This was tasty, though mostly because of the excellent quality of the beef. The final savory dish was the $29 Pistachio Pesto Pasta. The pasta itself was not too special, being a bit too chewy for my liking, but the sauce was unique and tasty. Outside of the typical garlic flavor, the pesto also had a strong herbal flavor, including parsley and some other things. I guess my only other complaint would be that the pasta was served in very large strands, so it was a bit hard to split. For dessert, we split two. Our easy preference was the Coconut and Honey Panna Cotta with praline and fresh fig for about $16. It had a nice tropical flavor, which worked well with the soft and silky panna cotta. Less preferred was the pricier $19 Brownie, with espresso, nuts, crème fraîche, and ice cream. I didn't like the brownie texture much, with the best thing being the strong almond flavor from the crème fraîche. We left comfortably full, spending around $76 a person, not including tips or drinks. Outside of one of the desserts and the tuna, we had a great meal here. We were treated with bar seats on a recent Friday night, where diners directly look in on a very open and bustling kitchen. The environment at Shmone, the Michelin-starred Israeli-Mediterranean offering from Eyal Shani, is intimate, inviting, and warm. The staff are casual and friendly and are generous with menu suggestions. There's a whole age range of patrons, some of whom appear to be regulars. The food rundown: -Jerusalem bagel: This is a unique way to do a bread starter. Visually, it's a very fun-looking bagel. It's soft and chewy, not too dense, and completely covered in sesame seeds. It rests in a bed of olive oil and za'atar spice, which is perfect for dipping. -Tuna toro marmalade: Another very pretty dish and just super enjoyable to eat. A rotating selection of fruits and veggies based on seasonal availability guarantees a different experience every time. On our night, fatty, fresh little squares of tuna were juxtaposed with pieces of cucumber, fig, and I think red plum(?), served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Each bite combo is delicious and fun- jammy, stewed fruit toppings or a fresh summer vegetable bite. -Cabbage melting into itself: The cabbage is braised low and slow in beef stock and is therefore very tender, with some caramelization on top. The beef jus and sour cream added umami and tang. -Dorade en papillote (scallions, zucchini flowers, lemon): Tender and citrusy. The fish is mild and lightly sweet. This one really grew on me over time. -Pistachio pesto spaghetti: maybe it was a little risky to order pasta at a non-Italian restaurant, but I had read good things. The pasta was topped with a bunch of melting cheese flakes, which was a promising start. Ultimately, this was good but was the dish that worked least well for me. The pesto sauce was pleasant but the flavor didn't quite pop, and there was almost a bit of bitterness to the dish. -Elderflower lemon mousse: seriously one of the most intriguing desserts I've had in a long time. Despite the citrus, this was not a super tangy, acidic dish. The elderflower and lemon flavors were gentler and layered. The texture kind of reminded me of tahini and there was a bit of a tahini quality in the flavor, too. The addition of the snow peas was interesting but maybe not necessary? The wine list is good, too, and doesn't strictly adhere to the region. I had a glass of red from the Jura, which went really well with whatever I happened to be eating at the time. read more

So solid! 5 stars for the short rib alone. Would highly recommend sitting at bar for the open kitchen concept - loved watching the chefs make every dish. And the service was overall pretty fast. Would recommend ~6 small plates to share between 2 people. Highlights were the green salad (so light and refreshing) and pea shoots (almost tasted how chinese restaurants cook it, but with a lemon-y flair). Toro was good but hard to compare with Japanese restaurants, and the cabbage was so so tender but a bit to buttery for me. Asparagus was also solid but nothing special. The signature dish of the restaurant is definitely the short rib - wow, it is the most tender meat ever with a nice crispy crust and it had such a nice accompaniment (I think it was mashed potato of some sort?). It was so delicious, perfectly savory, and I seriously could not stop eating it. It melted in my mouth! If you visit Shmone, you NEED to order this dish! read more

I visit NYC annually for about a week. Shmone was the best of many good meals I had this visit, plus it was literally around the corner from my West Village hotel. The W. Village is teeming with restaurants, many highly regarded, many impossible to get into, sometimes for reasons not food-related. Shmone is more unassuming, but does have a Michelin star. Its founder and executive chef are both Israeli. They have a wine bar next door. I learned about the restaurant from a social media personality who seems to appreciate food and does ratings on Beli. First of all a shout out to my server/bartender Peter, who guided me well through the menu, although I did have some pre-set "classic" dishes in mind. Three out of four of these dishes were available. I started with the Jerusalem bagel, a large oval bagel served over olive oil/herbs/za'atar for dipping. Delish. Next was the "Cabbage melting into itself" served over beef stock and sour cream. I'm not one to dole out superlatives on a whim, but this was the best cabbage I've ever had. So soft and tender but still had texture so it was not falling apart. I'm very curious about the cooking method. Fabulous! Next was another classic, their Beef short rib. It wasn't on the menu this night because they had so few left and were expecting to sell out, but luckily I got one. I would have tried another classic, their "76 layers of Wagyu flat iron" had I not gotten a short rib. Like the cabbage, the short rib was the best short rib I've ever had. Like the cabbage, so soft and tender yet still with texture and firmness so a knife was needed. It was served over polenta. Again, I'd love to interrogate the kitchen as to their cooking methods, which I'm sure they keep secret. I was sitting at the bar and the kitchen was in full view; I should have paid closer attention. Amazing! For dessert, I had heard about their pistachio cake, but it was not on the menu. I instead chose "cookies and milk", which were baking during my earlier courses. The cookies had white chocolate chunks and strawberries, the milk was spiked with vanilla bean, served in a tea cup. The cherries were the highlight of the meal. Really loved them and a bit unique. The Wagyu Flatiron was good. The Jerusalem Bagel was a bit dry, and the rice pudding was good, but not special. It was fun sitting at the counter watching the kitchen. Service was good until closer to closing, when the main server left and then they seemed a bit short-staffed. Planned a night out with my friends and they told me I absolutely had to dine here. My friends had never steered me wrong before when it came to having a wonderful meal. This was no exception. We were greeted by the most lovely woman upon entering. Seriously, she could not have been more sweet. Our waitress was equally as amazing. She guided us through the menu and made suggestions on how many plates would should order for our group of 3. We started off with the sliced blue fin tuna. It was amazing. So light and refreshing. Our table also ordered lamb chops, lamb kebab, spinach and pea shoots, prawns, and the potatoes with caviar. Each bite seemed better than the last. The only dish that fell short for me were the mackerel fish cakes. It was good but it was more of a fish meatball than it was a cake. The sauce that came with it though..... had it not been a fine establishment, I would have licked the bowl. Great food, amazing service, great ambiance.... What more could you want? One of my fav meals this year! It's such a cool yet unpretentious spot we didn't even realize they were Michelin-starred until our post-meal research. The menu's split into five sections (including desserts) and I recommend ordering one from each. It's fun seeing how they play with animal/earth/ocean "creatures" in totally different ways Can't say I've had enough Israeli food to compare, but this meal really leaned into spice, acid, and rich meats. Very yummy!! The 76-layer wagyu comes stacked on a steel rod and hits all the right notes. Steak is meaty yet tender, with a light, tangy tomato sauce and fragrant char to wrap it all up. The Jerusalem artichoke eats like a juicy potato, paired with a lamb bone sauce that's rich and a bit BBQ-like. Scallops were seared to absolute perfection. Bit pricey, but easily the best I've had this year with a deep & crisp tomato-seed butter sauce that just ties everything together. I'm so impressed with Shmone! It was absolutely amazing, and I'm so glad I finally got to try it for my birthday. Green mango ribbons with vinaigrette - super refreshing and lightly sweet. The mint and onions balanced it perfectly. Grilled king oyster mushroom in shiitake broth - so flavorful. The mushroom had a natural sweetness, and the broth was rich and full of umami. Loved every bite. Prawns in tomato seed and butter sauce - the sauce was incredible, and the toasted challah on the side was perfect for dipping. Buttery and creamy! Grilled calamari with yogurt - perfectly charred without being burnt. Crispy, tender, and paired so well with the yogurt. 76-layer wagyu flat iron - cooked to perfection. The sauce was outstanding and brought everything together. Highly recommend this! Overall, the food was outstanding, the service was excellent, and the experience was top tier. Sadly, I was disappointed by what should have been a special night out. I suppose I am "wrong," vis a vis the Michelin Star, but in my book Shmone doesn't cut it. Service was friendly and not pushy, which was what gets the stars. The food, though, felt anything but special and was wildly overpriced for the product. The Jerusalem Bagel was the highlight of a meal, but a bagel is hardly grounds for status. Staff recommended sharing 6 plates. There weren't 6 plates that I was dying to try, so we each started with one and figured we'd go from there. The spaghetti puttanesca tasted like "fishy spaghetti." To their credit, the portion was larger than expected and, had I felt inclined to finish it, would have sufficed as a full meal. At those prices, though, we didn't want to risk additional dishes, much less several more, and we closed things out with dessert. The chocolate soup was good enough. Would not return. read more

My husband wanted to try a new place for his birthday, so we made a reservation here. Luckily, we were able to snag a 6 PM spot on a Friday. Food: 4/5 First off, this is not a cheap spot--we spent $430 after tax and tip. The portions are small, so you'll definitely need to order multiple dishes. If I had to rank my favorites: 1. Beef short rib - A good portion, super tender with a nice crust, and definitely shareable. 2. Jerusalem bagel - Fresh, fragrant with sesame, but I wish it was bigger. 3. Arabic cabbage - A surprising standout! Super tender, and the chicken stock was absolutely delicious. Would've loved it with challah bread. Overall, the food was solid, and my husband really enjoyed his red wine. I had the arak drink, which was nice but a little strong for me. Service: 5/5 The service was so attentive that it was almost frustrating. They changed our plates and utensils after every dish--which, as someone who isn't used to that level of service, felt a bit excessive. But aside from that, they were great--constantly refilling our waters, offering thoughtful menu recommendations, and pacing the food well. Nice ambiance but experience was only mediocre. Booked well in advance but the host tried to seat at the bar despite many tables being available. The food was decent but generally seemed as though it had been sitting around and was often bland. The bagel is... bread. The cabbage had more than melted into itself... and desperately needed salt. The prawns and lamb were fine but not exceptional. Strangely, the staff kept changing, with no consistent server, and some long wait times on food. Shmone is the top 3 restaurant among all restaurants in New York City. Background: I have been struggling to find gems in the city. All papa n mama shops are nearly gone and these skilled trained chefs are opening mediocre restaurants across the towns. Hate to say, I am not impressed. You know what, if I source from fresh organic farms, I can cook pretty good food myself. Why would I need to visit a 2 Michelin star restaurant to try something with foam where I don't even taste the true taste of the ingredients. Lol Shmone is different. It is such a fun experience where we got to sit next to the kitchen, talking with sous chef about what they are doing and watch all the fun actions in the kitchen. Food is exceptional: everyone got their bagels. And surely it doesn't disappoint. It is completely different from New York bagel and it is more on the chewy side. We didn't go with all the recommended options but I would say that all our choices are AWESOME! Spaghetti is so fresh making us feel like ingredients are just picked from farm. 76 layer waygu is a must. The source is making everything exceptions but the way they bbq waygu, oh I see the middle eastern way of handling meet! We were not interested in the dessert at all but by looking at how one of the sous chef had prepared , we decided to give a try - berry one! Wow, something very humble but makes you realized that great food comes in a simple form. Challah is marinated with honey along with fresh strawberries is a must try for you. What I love about here is - there is no secret of making great food. It comes to the chef's interpretation of how food should be served to customers where food is kept in its original forms. After enjoying a glass of Orange Wine next door, my date and I feasted on the following Levantine Mediterranean plates organized in their menu as "creatures": Wheat creature- Soft hot Jerusalem bagel with olive oil and zatar Earth creature - Green salad with lots of large radicchio leaves and dressed in blood orange and briny anchovy; Ocean creature - Cast iron scallops in a buttery tomatoe seed sauce that I happily dipped my bagel in; Spaghetti al limone that oozed with umami butteriness and tiny shrimp Animal creature - Lamb kebab that made my little Greek heart so happy The service was attentive and generous within the 90 min table limit. They sent a text reminder twenty minutes prior to let us know that it was almost time to give the table over to another party of two. As we were gathering our things to get up and leave , our hostess politely asserted that it was time to go. The next party of two was literally blocking our path to leave. I hear you, but also relax. Wife and I came for my birthday. She ordered the mocktail mojito which she liked and I had a sore throat so got some mint tea that they kept refilling with hot water. The Jerusalem bagel was amazing, and went well with their olive oil and seasonings. Piping hot and full of sesame flavor. You can get this elsewhere but done so well here too. The swordfish schnitzel was spectacular, and the only other time I've had swordfish this tender was at Taverna Kyclades. Not the most flavorful of dishes but I'd get this again for the execution. The wagyu 76 layers was the highlight. Tender meat on top of a surprising mix of tomato, tahini and who knows what else sauce. I asked for a slice of challah bread to soak up the sauce, which I think is homemade? And they didn't even charge us for the bread! The pear mille-feille was the only mediocre note here. Something was lacking, perhaps more cream is needed to balance out the caramelized Pears. There's no pastry in any of this just FYI. They also gave us chocolate truffles for my birthday which was a nice touch. I'd come back but the only problem is, I want to try new items but the ones we had were so good. read more

I've visited Shmoné several times since it opened but last night's visit will be my last. They still do special things with vegetables and their ingredients are clearly top tier, but it's obvious the Michelin star has gone to their head. Maybe you'll consider this a power move but I find it tacky for them to have taken one of their most popular dishes (the Pyrex lasagna), added non-optional truffles to it, and doubled the price (now $79, it used to be $40). When I asked about getting it without the truffles (which I don't care for), I was told they'd still have to come on the side (in other words, you're still paying $80 for the dish) Way to alienate your regulars, especially vegetarians who already have fewer options to choose from. The service is always professional but not warm. In terms of ambiance, the lighting is beautiful but the loudness is a problem. There are too many tables for the space so you have to concentrate on blocking out conversations happening beside and behind you and it seriously detracts from the culinary experience (the only seats where I've ever been able to properly hear my dining mates without us all shouting has been at the bar). I don't mind this kind of elevated price point for an elevated dining experience, but at Shmoné you just feel like you're in a loud bar. In total, as two couples with one round of drinks, we dropped $600. My husband had a bowl of granola when we got home because he was still hungry. Overall good experience at shmone, the setting is intimate, it's a pretty small space, service was friendly throughout. The food was good, although thought a number of dishes were unbalanced. favorites were the jerusalem bagel, warm with perfect chewy texture and delicious olive oil and herbs. the beet mille feuille was also very nice. And the dish of the night was the plate of mushrooms - amazing. The sweetbread dish was pretty good, but very rich/decadent it's a large portion. the lasagna is essentially a small pyrex dish of cheese - very heavy. They squeeze some tomato water onto it, but this dish needs way more acid to cut through the fat. Good, but very filling. The larger dishes we got I wasn't impressed with - the grouper sausage stuffed squids were a miss, and the mackerel was simple but salty with little to help balance - served with a lemon aioli and grilled lettuce. Shmone just got a Michelin star in 2023 and wow did they deserve this!!! Every. Dish. Hits. I came here for dinner with a girlfriend and we shared everything. They recommend 2-4 dishes per person depending on what section of the menu you order from. Starting with the Beirut cocktail, if you love vodka and sweet, this is for you! It was very smooth and loved the pink color. Then the apps- the Brussels sprouts with stracciatella and honey were my FAVE. The flavor combination was incredible, wish I could have had more. Also don't skip out on the artichoke and the eggplant steak. My entree was the "76 layers of wagyu flat iron" cooked medium rare and that was AMAZING. It was surrounded by all these different sauces which made the flavor so complex and interesting. The charred and seasoning on the steak was outstanding. My friend got the John Dory fish and she loved it. To round us out, we split the chocolate mousse and it was the softest mousse ever. They sprinkled little pieces of salt on top. Honestly everything was so good, I can't wait to come back. Food 10/10 Enjoyed every single dish we ordered. The beef ribs are a must, so flavorful and tender. I thought the sweetbread + tahini + bread was a really great combination, although it did end up being quite fatty. The jerusalum bagel was definitely my favorite-it came out PIPING HOT and soft and airy all at the same time. The artichoke hearts and rock shrimp were also quite solid, but the bread that came with the shrimp stood out more than the shrimp itself. The bread was slightly sweet and perfect for dipping into the sauce. We also got the basque cheesecake and chocolate mousse for dessert, and both did not disappoint. I've reviewed Shmone before but we just went back and had a wonderful meal...again. The dish that wowed us the most was the single slice of tuna with surprising things done to it. The dorade en papillote and the shrimp dish were also spectacular and we loved dipping the challah bread in the sauce. Worth all the stars! Snagged a table shortly after their Michelin rating and was floored by the experience. We sat the chef's counter and it was sensational energy. Tomer our server was super fun and inviting, plus helped us make supreme choices. The veal cheek is never level moist and melt in your mouth. Blue toro two ways is epic Wagyu skewer was some of the best beef of my life. The fig and Stracciatella salad was incredible. The pulled leeks were a dish like none other. Wow what a great dining experience from the most prominent chef in Israel. The service was amazing and fun. Everything was served with a smile. We started off with the Jerusalem bagel which was good but was a bit overcooked on one part. Next we had the scallop which had 6 pieces which we appreciated being a party of 5 and we enjoyed it. The octopus was on point and I very much enjoyed it. The lamb kebab was flavorful . The tuna was very good and we very much enjoyed it. The fish schnitzel tasted perfect with the sauce and perfect crisp. The chicken was luscious and juicy and seasoned well. The pasta with shrimp was exceptional and definitely worth an order. Came to Shmone for a special night out and opted for the chef's table, which immediately set the tone for an elevated but welcoming experience. The meal unfolded beautifully, from the fresh tomato gazpacho and Jerusalem bagel with olive oil to standout dishes like the grilled king oyster mushrooms in broth and ricotta gnocchi finished with white truffle. The stracciatella lasagna with black truffles was the clear showstopper--rich, balanced, and executed with real confidence. Got a relatively last minute reservation to solo dine here. I've read a lot about Eyal Shani's culinary empire and the (vastly) different opinions on his work. I can say with unwavering confidence ... Chef Greenberg, You've converted me into a Shani mega fan. The experience was impressive enough that I'd take my shirt off to flash Shani my tits if I ever saw him in the flesh - although I doubt he'd like to see that. Rather than doing a tasting menu, guests are encouraged to choose their own adventure through four major categories of ingredients - siloed into "creature" designations in comic sans font. Dishes come out a random, which adds another dimension of whimsicality to an already playful and unique experience. The artichoke heart 2 different ways was simple yet elegant. Truly doing vegetarian right by highlighting the main ingredients rather than drowning them in a slurry of sauce and spices. The Harissa cigar with hummus added a much needed punch of bitterness. The 76 layer kebob - god where do I even start with this. Don't let its turd like appearance fool you. This over the top, succulent slab of beef dissolves in your mouth like a Domino sugar cube - except meatier and tastier!! The sauce, which you receive plenty of, provides the perfect lubricant to slide this bad boy down your throat. Not that you'd need it though with how tender the meat is. I ended the meal with the chocolate mousse drenched in olive oil - a perfectly balanced yet decadent dessert. I got the Beirut cocktail, which surprisingly paired with all the food nicely. Chef Greenberg - I will be back and I will come back borderline starving. I can't wait to see how Shmoné evolves and grows into the New York fine dining scene over the next decade. read more

Wow, it's rare to find a place where you can say they make the "best" version of something, but Shmone makes the best Swordfish Steak Milanese I've ever had. It was juicy and tender and full of flavor. Very different and worth ordering if it's on the menu! Another great dish is the Beef Short Rib. While you would expect it to be tender, it also has a ton of flavors on the crust and has a great "bark" just like a properly BBQ'd short bib. Another great dish is the mussels which are smoked instead of being steamed. You can taste the smokiness and again, full of flavor . Finally, you must order their staple, the Jerusalem bagel and pair it with the Hamachi sashimi. The bagel is oven fresh and chewy as any good bagel should be, and paired with the salty sashimi makes a great dish. All my choices were recommended by the waiter so it goes without saying that it's worth listening to them! Finally, if possible, get a seat at the bar facing the kitchen where all the action happens. I was once mugged for $500. This restaurant felt eerily similar: loud, chaotic, and over before I knew what hit me. The mugging, at least left a bad taste whereas Shmoné left no taste. If you're still reading and somehow determined to drop half a grand on a bagel, fine--the Jerusalem bagel was decent. Though let's be honest, the "olive oil" tasted suspiciously like canola in disguise, and the za'atar had the supermarket swagger of Noor spice mix from aisle six at Stop & Shop. Now, for what to avoid--so, basically, everything else. The lasagna: just hot cheese in layers of regret. The dorado: indistinguishable from the parchment paper it arrived in. The shrimp: I ate them. I know I did. I saw them. But they've vanished from my memory. The "chocolate-like mousse": I say "like" because calling it chocolate would be slanderous to actual chocolate. In short: if you're craving culinary gaslighting, this is your spot. Otherwise, run. Fast. Preferably in the direction of a real mugger. At least they don't pretend it's fine dining. read more

The short: The food was excellent, wine was thoughtfully selected, and our waiter was wonderful - but the overall service was bizarre. The longer: I arrived exactly on time, and my friend was running 10-15 mins late. Instead of offering me a seat at the bar, the hostess suggested I wait outside (???) -- and when I asked her if she meant I should wait outside, she said "it'd be most convenient." For whom? So, waited outside, and she checked in with me no less than 3 times in 15 minutes - even threatening to release my table. Mind you: there were 2 people who came while I was waiting... and they each had reservations. I offered to sit an order two glasses of wine, and explained my friend's subway was delayed. When my friend arrived, she said "nice you could finally make it" and insisted our table would have to be released in two hours. We had a delicious meal, and enjoyed the seasonal food selections -- our waiter helped us choose and really knew and sold the menu. That said, l we were very clearly being rushed. There were several tables seated way longer than us, but for some reason... they clearly wanted us to leave. They didn't even hand us a dessert or coffee menu. I am glad I tried the food, and the food is the basis for this review, but I wouldn't come back here based on the service experience alone. You pay too much to be rushed and feel unwelcome. read more

SHMONÉ is one of my favorite New York dining experiences. Michelin-starred Israeli cuisine, elegant yet relaxed vibe, and staff who truly understand gluten-free safety. Dairy-free is trickier (lots of butter), but the team is attentive and accommodating. The kitchen slipped up twice with dairy in my dishes, but they handled it beautifully with sincere apologies, comped plates, and extra dishes -- outstanding service. Favorites: salad, eggplant, grilled squid, maitake mushrooms, and beef rib. My husband loved the honey cake. Every dish felt like a celebration of life. read more

Upbeat atmosphere, absolutely informal and easy. Jerusalem bagel - 8/10 Good. Would have liked for it to be a little crisper (maybe more toasted) but that is just personal pref. Enjoyed it. Really good oil on the plate - dipping was fun and tasty. Mushroom Special. 8/10. Good. Maybe a little bit oily. Small-to-medium portion. Arab Cabbage 8/10. Good, solid sauce. Not special but good. Smaller serving. Priced to be smaller. Octopus. 10/10. Large portion and delicious. Cooked so well. A winner. Branzino. 11/10. Terrific. Skate Wing Schnitzel. 9/10. Larger portion. Very well cooked - moist inside and great schnitzel exterior. Creative doing this on such a sweet fish as skate. I highly recommend sitting at the bar, if available. The bar countertop is usually good when eating alone or with a date, but it allows you to see how well crafted and dedicated the chefs are. The food also proved this to be true at Shmone. I highly recommend the fava beans as an app. It was the best thing we ate all night and I would come back just for that dish. If you're going to do the fava beans make sure to order the Jerusalem bagel to soak up the broth and ricotta. We also enjoyed the octopus, cocktails and tres leches desert as a special. read more

A great Friday night. We arrived for our 9:30 reservation to a completely packed dining room. Love the open air kitchen and the high energy that existed when we entered. Loud (without being obnoxious) with diners enjoying all that Shmoné has to offer. Our server was great-providing excellent recommendations on what to order. The menu was organized by vegetables, seafood, and meat. We started the night with a hot jerusalem bagel that I could eat every hour of every day. Just tremendous. With dishes meant to be shared, we ordered the chargrilled leeks, hamachi sashimi, rock shrimp, scallops and finally a wagyu skewer. It was alot of food and everything was delicious. Special shout out to the largest scallops I've ever saw (and amazing) along with the decadent rock shrimp. Cocktail and wine menu doesn't disappoint. All around, an excellent evening. The one star Michelin is well deserved! read more
