I decided to stop by Gino's as we had purchased them there recently. The doors were locked as the sign indicated they closed at 5pm instead of 6pm. To my amazement an employee opened the door. I explained the problem and she relayed it to Dave who was in the back area, still working. Unbelieveably Dave said he would fix the shoe and he did so as I waited. He assured me the fix should be ok, but if not to return. There are few individuals or companies these days that did what Dave or his employee would do. Just an exceptional hometown shoe store with old school values. I have taken my Grandson there for years and highly recommend them for fitting childrens shoes properly for their growing feet and all the running and playing they so enjoy doing!

I was surprised by how many shoes they had considering the place is kind of small. There were 2 sales people that greeted me warmly. Both were working on freight however, one of them (I didn't get her name) stopped and started asking me questions to discover my needs. I have relatively narrow feet but they swell so I typically need a wide fitted shoe. Add to that, I need a higher arch in order to not have extremely sore feet by the end of my work day. (I spend the bulk of my day on my feet.) She was very knowledgeable about what was in the store and explained many benefits and had some tips on getting something that might work. The first shoe was a little big but sizing down didn't work either. Second shoe was too small/tight but sizing up worked. The third shoe was just right. (You had to see that analogy coming.) While I didn't want to buy two pair of shoes, I bit the bullet and got both. It was a little pricey but my feet deserve to be comfortable. I'll be going back to get comfy, cute sandals soon

I chuckle when I go in as there are shoes in there that have literally not sold in a decade.. but as I said, it's sometimes worth a look, especially kids shoes. Be ready though, the store is far more interested in their rules than their customer service. There are homemade signs all over the place making it sure you know they won't stand behind their products so don't even think about returns. They even give every customer a slip of paper at the register to tell you once you leave the store you are getting no refunds no matter what. In the age of Zappos customer service, I wonder how this place stays open with such lack of regard for customers.

For whatever reason, I couldn't find just plain black steel toes for women. They were always pink or had a heal.. I am the only female equipment operator where I work, I already stick out and don't need pink work boots!! Merkel's had exactly what I was looking for at a good price!
