Myself and my husband work in the dental field. We have a 20 month old son who was due for a dental check up.... His first. I surfed the web and found Dr. Shoemaker. I called and made a appointment. My paperwork was sent to me right away. I was able to get a early appointment within 2 weeks. We went in this am and I am so happy i was able to find this place for my son. Dr. Shoemaker was great. I learned so much, he went over everything. When it was time for him to check Elias teeth, Elias being 20 months old wasn't the happiest but Doc had many ways and options to make it most comfortable for him. The balloon and car definitely made up for his baby tears. Such a great staff. We can't wait to see y'all in 6 months!

Dr. Shoemaker demonstrates for my little one what is going to happen next.

Great Expressions Dental Visits Below is a timeline of my…read morerecent experience with the Kennesaw office. Sunday, June 28, 8:00 a.m. I received the following text message: GEDC Dental Info: William Travillian has an appointment on July 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Kennesaw office. Reply YES to confirm or NO for rescheduling information. Monday, June 29, 5:18 a.m. I replied: YES I then received a confirmation message stating that my appointment had been confirmed. Thursday I received another reminder stating that my appointment was scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. On Friday, July 3, I arrived at 7:45 a.m. and waited until 8:30 a.m. The office never opened, and the elevator was locked. I sent the following text message: I arrived for my appointment at 7:45 a.m. and waited until 8:30 a.m. No one showed up. Great Expressions responded with: No appointment found. I attempted to call the Kennesaw office several times but was unable to reach anyone to discuss what had happened. On Monday, July 6, I visited the office and spoke with your new office manager. I showed her the text messages that I had saved documenting the appointment confirmation and what had occurred. She explained that Great Expressions had experienced some scheduling problems and assured me that she intended to correct the issue so that it would not happen again. I was understandably disappointed by the situation. However, I was impressed with the way the office manager accepted responsibility and sincerely apologized. I will never fault someone for making an honest mistake if they acknowledge it and work to correct it. She rescheduled my dental cleaning for Tuesday, July 7, at 11:30 a.m. I arrived on time and had an excellent visit. I have nothing but compliments for the dental hygienist, dental assistants, and the dentist. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, professional, and competent. I could not have asked for better treatment. There was one remaining issue involving an unexpected $11 charge from a previous visit. The office manager explained that it appeared to be related to an insurance issue and said she would resubmit the claim to my insurance company. I always make it a point to pay any balance before leaving the office. If my insurance does not cover a service, I am normally informed during the visit and asked to pay the remaining balance before I leave. While requesting payment in the treatment room feels somewhat unusual to me, it does help ensure that accounts are paid in full before patients leave the office. Because of that process, I was surprised to learn that there was still an $11 balance from a previous visit. Since I always verify that my account is paid in full before leaving, I believe this was most likely an insurance processing issue rather than an unpaid balance. Hopefully, resubmitting the claim will resolve the matter. To summarize, I believe the dentist, hygienist, and clinical staff are outstanding and deserve recognition for the quality of care they provide. I believe the front office has room for improvement, but I am optimistic that the new office manager is taking the necessary steps to improve office operations and customer service. Overall, I would rate this office 6 out of 10. The clinical care is excellent, but the scheduling and administrative issues significantly affected my overall experience. I hope this evaluation is helpful. Thank you, William Travillian

What a price ripoff. Was told fee would be $402 which was agreed upon at consultation time. Then…read morereporting for actual work was told there was a $13 fee for using a credit card, no fee if using a debit card, which I don't have. If I had been told of fee would have brought $402 cash, but I'm sure would have been told they don' take cash. Beside all the extra fee charges was called into work area 1.5 hours after appointment time , then waited another hour before being seen by dentist. Never again at this facility. Marion B.

Dr Abimbola has such a warm and light bedside manner. I mentioned that I was thankfully numb enough that I couldn't feel my nose - without missing a beat, he assured me it was still there. Siri piped in outta nowhere from the tech's phone, and he had a quip for that too. Amy did an amazing cleaning, was direct in what I can do better and what I was doing well. I appreciated every word that came out of her mouth as well as the fun banter of new tv shows and recent trips to make me feel comfortable in the midst of a wide open mouth and dental cleaning. Paresa - bless her for dealing with me having issues with biting properly for the x-rays due to some pain. I apologized for jumping and 1/2 biting her head off as she tried to get things set, and her smile never wavered as she told me she didn't take it personally and finished her part. No one gets excited to go to the dentist. I waited longer than I should after a really bad experience with my last choice of dental offices...but this, this was a great experience despite a couple years of build up. I'm making appointments for the teenagers next and am thrilled to have found my new dental office.

I reached out three days in a row without success. Eventually, I contacted my dentist's office to request another referral. It seems they are not interested in doing business, but in the end, I'm grateful they showed me how they treat their customers. Now I realize that I don't have to entrust my care to such unprofessional people.

He's had a cavity done, two check ups/ X-rays, cleanings, five teeth pulled total (eek! A filling gone wrong from another dentist office, and four baby teeth overcrowding that didn't want to fall out lol), and molar sealants done. All successful! They have been excellent w ever experience. My son is not scared to go there- amazing!! We've seen i think three different dentists, male and females, and all were so friendly and kind. They made my son feel very comfortable. The assistants and hygienists are also so nice and do a great job. They do a great job of explaining things, calmly, and sweetly to my son, during procedures, making him feel at ease. He LOVES the TVs playing kids movies, on the wall, and above him in the chairs. He also is obsessed w the video games section in the front waiting room lol. He likes the "Hills 2 track" game a lot. The place is decorated very kid-like w great murals all over. They give the kids prizes after, and goodie bags, which is fun. My son has an allergy to food coloring, and they're great about that- going above and beyond to get different things without food dyes for numbing gels, teeth cleaning, etc. We also don't use fluoride and they're respectful of my choice, which I appreciate. They are prompt and efficient. Get us in right at our appointment time, most of the time, get things done quickly but well. In at 8am, two teeth pulled and two sealants done, out by 8:45. Wow! The front desk is very nice and knowledgeable. They worked with me when I was self-pay in cash - and have a same day cash discount. Now I have insurance again, and they work well w that also. We started there in 2021, I believe, and although they preferred mask wearing, they didn't seem too pushy about it, and didn't make my son wear one if he didn't want to. Also appreciated, due to his sensory issues. Now it says encouraged, but don't see many now in 2023. They do have you sign paperwork ahead, explaining that they prefer parents to stay outside the rooms, but won't enforce it if they feel strongly. But I've never seen it done, or been asked to, and they are great about me and other parents being a the child the whole time- and close by/ comforting your child during procederes. So I'm glad for that- our babies should have us by their sides during those things. We've loved going here, and glad a friend referred us!

I was able to use my insurance as well so my actual out of pocket was just over $100. While at Kennesaw Mountain they told me I needed two crowns for the two root canals I had done at the Endo. The Endo recommended a crown and a filling, (one tooth was cracked), Kennesaw Mountain Dental Associates told me I actually needed two crowns to the tune of almost $3,000. Come to find out I didn't actually need two crowns. The recommendation from the Endo was correct, all I needed was a crown and a filling this is after both dentists at my new dentist looked at the root canals done by my Endo. So in addition to being rude and lazy, they are also trying to over charge by pushing unnecessary dental procedures. Be very careful if you visit Kennesaw Mountain Dental Associates. Make sure you reach out to your insurer prior to your visit and check your coverage or they may try what they tried with me and tell you that you don't have coverage. Also if they recommend a procedure don't hesitate to hit pause, take few days and get a second opinion. It could save you thousands of dollars.
