If I could leave 0 stars I would. I ordered the cowgirl roll and asked for no mango or eel sauce. When I got the roll I took a bite and it tasted odd and there was something extremely blue drizzled all over it and it dyed my mouth/hand. I didn't finish the one bite and asked what the blue sauce was and she said "avocado sauce", I explained I didn't want it due to the dye and asked her to remove it from the table and bill. Not eaten. I then checked the menu and no where did it claim the Cowgirl roll even had an 'Avacado sauce.' The manager then came to our table and said since I took half a bite of a piece they could not remove it off my bill as all sales are final. (No sale has been made) I explained that the menu didn't even mention avocado sauce and she said "That's fair but unfortunately the best I can do is 10% off" I asked what the sauce was at that point since it clearly wasn't "avocado sauce" and she said "They just make their own sauce back there and it has sprite?" My group was so uncomfortable with the exchange that I just decided to pay and get out of there. I asked the front for info for the GM or owner and was told to Google it. To be clear I am the GM of a restaurant and would never leave a review this way if it wasn't absolutely necessary but the entire exchange was extremely unprofessional. The hibachi itself was a bit underwhelming, though -- minimal interaction from the chef and my steak, ordered medium rare, came out closer to medium/medium-well. We come here on occasion hoping food and service would be better, but again not the case. The sushi rolls seem to get smaller and the service is at best average the food quality is average just smaller portions than passed visits. The bar is terrible. The service this time terrible. The waitress took our drink order and somehow got it wrong. The bartender came over as we finishing up our. Meal to ask what the drink was, we told him a Rum and coke. I spent around 60 for a child's chicken hibachi meal. It came with a side of veggies . I added a side of rice and sushi. I was disappointed. The portion of chicken was a decent size but the chicken was very dry. I also paid for two extra tum yum sauces that I didn't receive. The fried rice was just that, rice. No added eggs like I see in the online pictures. The vegetables were mainly cabbage which I hardly ever see in hibachi. It wasn't even cut up, just huge chunks of cabbage. I used to love eating at Shogun in Greenville. Not anymore.. whoever decided to change the menu made a very poor decision. Almost everything on the sushi menu is now tempura! There was an old menu behind the sushi bar that we could still order quality rolls but last time I was there, it had been thrown away. Bring back the good menu! Trying looking at the Southlake Tx Shogun menu, it could possibly bring more customers. Tempura is very limited on their menu and the variety of sushi rolls are outstanding! The miso soup was fishy. The calamari we ordered was just three pieces, plus other food on there we didn't ask for. Nasty food. If you asked for shusi with crap just know that don't take the shell off. The new cowgirl shusi the meat taste burnt. The lady's bathroom bad.. it smelled bad in the whole place. For the price you pay for the food it's so bad.. Everyone needs to go to see what a real restaurant looks like and see how your servers look like for the money you are paying for. HORRIBLE SERVICE I don't even know where to start with how awful our experience was. By far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. My husband and I went in for a date night about a month ago. We waited 45 minutes to be seated which on a weekend we expected and were totally fine with but after an hour, my husband went to check to see if we could be seated soon. Our name had been skipped and we had to wait another 10 minutes. We got inside and we ordered fried rice, two rolls and sashimi. When the rice came out, they apologized for the wait (we waited a 1hr 5 min for our food) and asked us if we needed anything else. We asked when the rest of our order would come out and the girl looked very confused. She went back to check and our server came back to our table and told us she forgot to put in our sushi order. We sat and waited and watched eight plates of sushi go out from the kitchen before ours finally got to our table. We got the two rolls and asked where the sashimi was. The waitress told us it was on its way out shortly and she would check with the chef. We ate our sushi, were still waiting for the sashimi, and my husband turned around to look at the sushi bar and the chef was cleaning for the end of the night. Our server was talking with some of the other girls that worked there and my husband asked if the chef forgot about our order. She said "oh it looks like it". The lack of simple communication and body language from front of house makes it seem like they are afraid of the chefs. My husband told her to just take it off the bill and asked for a discount. They offered 20%. The server apologized at the end and said hopefully the next time we dine with them, if we ever choose to dine with them, will be better. I highly doubt it. Should have looked at the reviews first because clearly this is just one of many instances of horrible customer service and poor execution at this restaurant. Worst experience of our lives since Amie and Clinton resigned. The New Management Sucks! The service was horrible, waited over 10 minutes to be acknowledged for our drink order. Placed our order with the server when the drinks arrived 10 minutes later. Waited another 20 minutes and not even the house salad or squid salad was brought to our table, and NO ONE CHECKED ON US. Or said anything about how difficult it was to bring a salad to the table? Squid salad is not that tough an order either, when Amie and Clinton were there; our salads would have been there in 2 minutes. I know it is a Friday night, but they were not that busy. Last Thursday, 06/19/2025, my family of 7, were excited to eat at Shogun in Greenville, TX. We have not eaten there for awhile. 3 of us arrived there first before the others. 1) We were greeted by a male hostess that looked like an Old English Sheepdog, literally, you could see his mouth move, but above the mouth his hair completely covered his face, absolutely horrible!! Who wants to see that when one first walks in, you tend to think there will be hair in your food! Sure he was a kid, but who's boss, him or someone else? What Manager allows a reception like that, or have him wait on you at your table? I'm not done! 2) While waiting for the others to arrive, we were put in a very narrow hallway with hard chairs. instead of being seated at a table for 7. Guess what, the restaurant was empty, we got there when the doors opened, no customers, and we were told to sit in a narrow hall. 3) One family member sat at the bar, did not like the hallway chairs. Immediately the female bartender told him in a stern rude voice "you can't sit there, I have to wipe down the bar." 4) Finally all 7 had arrived, we got up and headed into the empty restaurant and were looking for a table to hold all 7 of us. The male looking sheepdog kept walking forward in front of us and rudely said "I told you over here." Upon hearing that, we all looked at each other and said "Let's Go." We walked out and got into our cars, went to another Greenville Restaurant where the hostess and waitress were very friendly, and had appropriate hair and clothes. This was hands down the worst service I have ever experienced anywhere. Our server, Layla, was an absolute disaster from the moment we sat down. She messed up our order over and over again, and we didn't even get our appetizer until after all of our food had already been brought out. She never once apologized, never tried to fix anything, and acted like it was somehow our problem instead of hers. Instead of doing her job, she spent the night strutting around the restaurant bragging loudly about how much money she was making in tips -- while her own tables were being completely neglected. And to top it all off, things got so bad that it turned into a full-on screaming match right at our table. This happened in front of my newborn baby and another nearby family. Completely unacceptable. I've eaten at Shogun's many times and usually enjoy it, but this experience was beyond embarrassing and infuriating. Layla's behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and absolutely ruined our night. If this is the kind of staff Shogun's is allowing to represent them, management needs to wake up and take action immediately. read more

Oh My! This photo attached to my review is the dinner portion for a to-go order. I made sure to ask for the dinner portion instead of the lunch portion and they assured me there would be a larger portion. For the price I paid, I should've just gotten 2 lunch portions! Rud from the start. The person setting me didn't even look at me. He looked like a sheepdog. The overwait waitress did not know what beers were even on the menu. From that point on she completely ignored me. I ordered teriyaki filet. The chef didn't make it that way and when I said I wanted teriyaki he just poured a bunch of it on my plate. At that point I said give me my check. Several of the staff surrounded me and, in a confrontation, posture and pocked their finger in my chest and I told them do not touch me. The food is great. The problem is the inaccuracy of filling the orders. We have ordered from here from DoorDash, we have ordered take out that we picked up ourselves and we have eaten in. In total probably 8-10 takeout or delivery orders over 3 years. They almost ALWAYS leave something off the takeout and delivery orders. We just ordered from them via DoorDash delivery and once again missing items. They did not send our Sashimi Roll or the fried rice that went with our Chicken Breast hibachi. They did not send ginger and wasabi with the sushi rolls. We ordered an extra 2 oz Yum Yum sauce which they did not include. This happens almost every time we order to go from here. When I order and pickup myself I now I have to open the bags to check for everything before leaving. A basic skill that a restaurant should have is to fill orders accurately. Things happen every now and then but we have experienced missing items at this location at least 6 times now. That is inexcusable and poor management of the restaurant. Teach your kitchen staff to check off items on a receipt as they place them into the bags, it's as simple as that. The times we have encountered missing items with pick up orders and went back in, or more recently found it out before leaving, the staff at the front desk were not apologetic and did not show any sign that they care. The management needs to do a better job of training their staff. read more

We have had family dinners here several times and its been good. My wife, son and I sat for dinner tonight and are waitress took forever to take are orders and was dropping stuff on the table. I ordered sushi and got everything but my Eel but they gave me two orders of salmon which was fine but i asked her if they forgot it and she told me that it might be bad that's why they doubled my salmon. I said that fine no worries she then tells the sushi chefs about it and the head chef starts getting aggressive with me and tells me they will make it. I said no that is fine and he continued to be rude and the waitress then told me sorry that's how Sammy is. I thought it was completely unprofessional and I will not be coming back and I will make sure everyone knows how bad the service and the treatment from the staff is. I don't know how this location is able to work under the Shogun name. A absolute joke. Showed up after calling ahead about the wait time. To be told it would be another 30 minutes. We sit down to wait and see a table that seats 7 with 3 at it. Still has all the plates set out. I asked if we could join and they said, "No, the chef already got the amount of rice for the three of them." Only had 1 chef working, 2 waiters and 2 bus boys. Staff is young and rude. I know it's a drive by Rockwall or Mckinny is worth the drive. I forgot why I hadn't been here in years and why they are always empty. 2 minutes in and I remember why. Our actual waiter was great. And food was okay, priced high but to be expected. This wasn't just a us things. After finally seating us 2 with another group of 2 with 4 open seats they made another group of 2 wait a good 30 minutes to be seated. Poorly managed location. Very sad. Parking is shared with strip, plenty of seating inside, but good luck getting a seat. I did get to watch the bus boys set out plates then come back and wipe the plates down with a rag pulled from his back pocket.... It's not dark dark inside, so you will be able to see if your plate needs to be cleaned. read more

We've been going here for the past five years. Sushi quality steadily improved until the end of 2018, then the quality started going down, I think when the last of the original sushi chefs finally left. The two young sushi chefs there don't seem to be interested in the food, as the flavors are off and some of the fish tastes old. I don't think they taste things. They drench things in too much sauce, which I worry is covering the poor quality of the fish. They have a lot of turnover with staff as well, so service is painfully slow and almost like the servers don't really care either. They recently changed the sushi menu again, and it is even worse now. I wouldn't have said anything if this was bargain sushi, but the prices are quite high and not a good value. The last few visits, we ended up just leaving upset as the meal was pretty lousy. I think we finally just won't go back anymore. RIP Shogun's. You used to be good. read more
