Mild Winter 2025 in North Texas so far, but tonight was a foggy drizzle about 45°F. Perfect night for hot bowl of beef Pho Soup at Kaizen. Saturday 7PM, about 40% full, a lot of couples, even a double date table. Clients are happy. Bar counter seats empty. Basketball on the bigscreen. Pleasant waitress seats me, I tell her "This is a hot pho soup night. What options you offer? Chicken, Beef, or Dac Biet, so my pick was #3! One size fits all: BIG! With all the traditional fixings. All eyes upon me now with the big bowl sending steam up through the lighting! Great broth, plenty of thick brisket slices, thin rare steak slices, and the seasoned meat balls. Thin rice noodles were cooked to perfect texture. Thai basil leaves, cilantro, sliced jalapeño, slices of lime. I drain the bowl so cooks see they are Ono !!! read more

We just discovered this place! The food was tasty, or server Glenn was super friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. They have Happy Hour from 5-7 every day but Friday and Saturday. We plan to bring others with us when we come back! read more

Saturday night dinner,alone, 7:30PM Slight wait to sit at the sushi bar. Glad I did, the sushi chef was amazing to watch! Service was a tad slow but they were slammed. Friendly, smiling and happy staff were magnificent. My waitress recommended the short rib curry over the shaking beef dish. Great recommendation, if you like curry. Reminded me of Thai yellow curry. Ate the short rib with chopsticks, it fell off the bone. Had spicy garlic edamame for an appetizer. Hot and perfectly spicy. I also ordered a sushi roll which didn't get served but I totally understand from watching the master sushi chef and highly skilled wait staff work their magic dealing with 100% full dining. The meal I had was more than enough and was exceptional. Although in a strip mall, Kaizen is trendy with vibrant murals, clean dining and restrooms. Continuing on my rambunctious review updates, Kaizen is the best sashimi joint close to me. Very nice people, even though the sushi bar isn't very large, the service is excellent. They have cold sake on tap, and, while this will seem odd... they have a fried chicken cutlet they do that is bananas. Just go ahead and get one. Its a nice cozy spot, never loud. read more

Really good noodles !!! Comes hot and fast - I've only tried the noodles w/ beef and potstickers . Wouldn't do the potstickers again for delivery because they weren't hot - but all in all really good food. read more

june 27 2025 stopped in for take out today order shrimp formed rice with broccoli toy was utterly disgusting i mean tasteless stale dry just despicable. if i didn't live so far i would have returned it for a refund, so i threw it away. just nasty. you should remove this dish from your menu if you can't cook simple fried rice. This place has one of the best sashimi rolls I've ever had! Try the Caesar, it is amazing. Also for entree try the Shaken Beef, it's great. The place has really cool art and it's nice and clean. The service is good as well, the staff is very friendly and attentive. read more

Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised! I usual am critical of sushi places and there aren't a lot of great sushi places around our neighborhood. The customer service was great, service was fast, food was delicious! Miso Soup was nice and hot, spicy edamame was spicy yet mild in flavor which made it so devour-able! Lol the Volcano roll was the best thing we ordered and the portion was a good size. They have a little sushi bar with a TV behind it and it was very clean. This place is pretty cool! They have a lot of food options with fair prices and a very cool interior. All of the walls are decorated with art. I tried their dumplings and my sister and I both had sushi. I liked that they had a lot of different sushi rolls. There is a bar where you can watch them prepare your sushi. My dad tried the soup and it came in a giant bowl. The staff were friendly and kind. We were all super happy with our meals and will definitely be back! read more

This restaurant is so close to our house but today was my first time to try it. They have a nice lunch menu that includes either miso soup or salad with it. I chose the broccoli beef with steamed rice. It had decent flavor but the meat was really tough and the sauce was watery. My friend got the Pad Thai and hers looked really good. When we were leaving, we saw the chef preparing a large Atlantic salmon for sushi. It looked beautiful & fresh. Maybe we can come back for dinner and try something different. read more

Sitting in the shopping center at the North West corner of Dalrock and 66 in Rowlett, is Kaizen. Technically, Kaizen is in Dallas County, which wont mean much to many, but I try to keep my focus on business and efforts in my home of Rockwall County, but for these guys I think an exception is warranted. After all, they are right on the line. Kaizen opened at the end of 2019 in October, so they are a new place in town, only open 11 months as of the time of this review. I noticed they had very good reviews on Google, Yelp and Facebook so I made a lunch stop by recently to see the spot. Kaizen is in a strip center, and is a small eatery. On my 2pm lunch visit, only one other table was sat. The decorations are light, the place is simple, clean and somewhat quiet. This part of the review will likely become dated in the future, but as of 9/3/20 the restaurant is following all Dallas County COVID-19 mandates, requiring masks to enter, and have closed 50% of their table. Giant hand made signs outside still advertise CARRY OUT AVAILABLE from earlier, harder months of the pandemic. The lunch menu immediately struck me as affordable. The most expensive dish was $10.95 and most of them were $6.95 to $8.95. Sometimes with sushi this a bad omen they will use cheaper quality fish or materials. But I was wrong in that assumption. Service was quick, tidy and accurate. The rolls i sampled (Up Town Roll & Philadelphia Roll) were superb. The key to good sushi is FRESHNESS and you could really taste the crisp flavors and mellow sweetness of the meats in the tender rice. Nothing was overwhelming, nothing was sour or off. It was just right. One of the lunch samples was a sashimi sampler, which had one piece of raw fish over rice in 4 varieties. A younger version of me would gag at the thought of eating raw fish, but again, when prepared by a professional the experience is actually amazing. I am glad I grew up. The entire lunch was a great value, quickly served, and done so in a clean, trendy vibe simple neighborhood diner. This spot does not has the ambiance as Rockwall's Basil Cafe, and its menu is not as deep, but in regards to sushi quality and freshness, they are at least equal. Top tier. Maybe even better, since Kaizen is open for dine in service, and Basil Cafe is not, as of the time of this post. Worth the visit for any Japanese food fan. read more

We used to go into Dallas for our sushi. We discovered Kaizen over a year ago and haven't gone back to Dallas since. The rolls are so good. Try the Oishii roll. We usually order more than one. You won't be disappointed. The fried rice and riceless rolls are also our favorites. The service is excellent. Prices are excellent for the quality and happy hour selections are great too! What a hidden gem! My husband and couple friends went here last night and we were all very impressed. My husband and his buddy are kind of sushi snobs and had nothing but compliments! My sushi snob and I ordered -Alaskan roll -shrimp crunch -spring rolls (comes with the best peanut sauce we've ever had) -fried pot stickers (so so yum) -fried rice -salmon sushi I had some of all of this except the salmon sushi. The Shrimp crunch and the fried rice here were the best I've ever had!! The rice was perfectly buttery, sticky and the chicken was perfect. Pleasant Surprise. In the age of COVID everything matters. Our "regular" place is not following protocol. This place was. Definitely a good choice. Masks, social distancing nothing on the tables!! This counts as WINNING in my book. Had hot sake and I tried a cold one since I don't like the hot. It was kinda good- like a sake version of a pear Truly. It was enjoyable. Edamame was on point and right to the rolls. Against my better Texas judgement I did order the In-and-Out roll. It was good. My guy got the Philly Roll per usual. We had a very nice and attentive waiter. It was a relaxed meal and conversation on our little date out. The to go and curbside business was BOOMING!!! Went the other Friday and it was delicious! Service was great and an adorable ambience. Ordered spicy tuna roll and crab rangoon. My friends got a couple different kinds including orange chicken and California roll. Our waitress, Hannah, highly recommended the oishii roll which turned out to be the best thing we had all night. We didn't do this, but since they are still waiting on a license to sell liquor, you can go next door, get sake, bring it back, and they can heat it up for you. read more
