Nostalgia brought me to this!! In the 1980's, my home town got a Shoney's after several years of having to drive 30 miles to get to one. Through my college years it was a go to for me, they had an AYCE breakfast bar and I was a broke college kid. I always liked this chain. For those not familiar, it is like a Big Boy or a Denny s. There were some reversals for Shoney's over the years. Now they are few and far between. This one has had a remodel but still feels like 1993, I adore this. Lots of old folks in here for lunch, a good indicator for value. The place smells great and the staff seated me right away. The booths are still comfortable. I ordered an All American burger all the way with cheese and bacon plus fries. Everyone was friendly. You can smell the burgers on the grill, it smalls so good in here. My burger was a towering achievement with a side of fries. It was served on a grilled bun with butter. The patties were huge and there was plenty of cheese and bacon. It was dang near perfect. All it needed was an American Flag toothpick on top. The fries were thick cut and the perfect vehicle for Ketchup. There was so much flavor and it was all good. Final wrap-up is the famous strawberry pie. Disappointment reigned supreme they were out! Oh well, a strawberry sundae will do. The whole experience took me back so I am biased. This was a good experience, try it again for the first time. read more

Home of cold food and environment. Cold eggs. Cold gravy. Cold grits. Waitresses were all wearing coats. It was like the AC was on. 15.67 for solo breakfast bar. They could at least install a microwave at the bar to warm your food. read more

I only gave one star because all of the food was not bad. 1) The eggs were scorched. 2) The chairs were wet. I had to ask for them to be dried out before I could sit. 2) The plates were dirty!! Dried eggs and grits was on the first 8 plates that I picked up. I went to the other side and the first plate on top had eggs too. I asked the waitress if they had any clean plates.She took them to back and a young man brought out some clean plates by slamming them in the plate tray with an attitude. If Shoney's can't do any better than this they need to close. I really loved Shoney's, I have come to Shoney's for years. SO disappointed. read more

My family and I have eaten the breakfast buffet from here many times, and have never had a problem with the quality of the food, the service, or the cleanliness of the restaurant. I notice that the bad reviews were from a few years ago, but even when we ate at Shoney's back then, I did not see any issues with the food or cleanliness, so these were probably isolated instances being mentioned in these reviews, not the norm for the restaurant. (More people go out of their way to complain about a bad experience, versus leaving a review about a good experience.) Just so you know, if you don't want to eat sausage or bacon, they will cook you some chicken tenders and bring to your table for no extra charge. read more

I tend to pass on by Shoney's restaurants but I was meeting up with a lot of family which lives in the area so I grudgingly went there. I pass them by due to very mediocre service and often the buffet doesn't look very good because of how messy everything is and you can see that some slower moving items were stacked too high and no longer very fresh. None of that applied here. Everything was obviously fresh and care was taken when replenishing containers and the workers cleaned behind mess-makers. The most glaring difference here us how hard the workers perform their jobs, cleaning, supplying the buffet, checking on customers needs, and how super friendly they were. read more

We had buffet for lunch. Thanks thought best things were the biscuits and I really prefer rolls. Chicken both fried and baked were ok not bad but not memorable. If you're looking for OK for you to cheap prices this might be the place for you. Server was very nice and hospitable. read more

Arrived for breakfast on our way back home from Holiday visit with family. We always look for a Shoney's when we travel, normally have the best breakfast!! NOT THIS TIME!!! Got to the buffet to fix a plate and there was no bacon, no sausage, no biscuits, no pancakes, very little eggs, and just a bunch of empty serving areas! And let me tell you they didn't do much to fill it and when they did finally put food out everyone who was waiting to eat scoffed it down so fast you couldn't get anything!!! Our server gave us this BS line about their truck breaking down and that's why there was no food. Well... being in the food service/hospitality industry for most of my 30+ year career I will say that is a lie!!! Poor planning and poor scheduling was the problem!!! Avoid. This is hands down my worst Shoney's experience ever. After 7 hours on the road my family and I just needed a basic sit down meal. Arrived around 2pm to s nearly empty restaurant. We ordered simple stuff, a pancake, burgers and sandwiches. After 30 minutes our food wasn't even half prepared. It took another 15 min to get it into takeout boxes (had to keep going for schedule.) During the wait, the raucous staff was very loud and cutting up throughout the restaurant. Adding to the noise was the frequent yelling at them by the manager. When we decided to leave the same manager began a disturbing tirade against the cook and waitress for our wait. She gave us an apology and discount for the wait. Unfortunately, when we got back on the road we discovered that of the 5 orders, 1 was missing and a second incorrect, both of which were orders for hungry children. We called back, this time more than a little distraught. The manager comped the meal and we sought food elsewhere. When we first walked in and saw the restaurant was dingy & smelled like a rancid mop, I should have turned around. But my family was famished in unfamiliar surroundings and historically Shoney's is a safe bet. read more

Yuck! Walked in and had to walk back out. After looking at their pathetic breakfast Buffet and finding out they wanted $8.00 for water downed powered eggs, burnt bacon and rock hard French toast I decided to take off running. Do your self a favor and just keep driving. read more

Stopped by on our way home from the beach, found this to be a very nice, clean place to eat. All the food at the breakfast bar was hot and fresh. Everyone was very nice and polite even with this being a busy Saturday morning. We will stop here again! read more

After ordering and going to the salad bar the lady across from us came up to us and showed us a roach on the wall said it was the second she saw and then her husband saw one on the salad bar. We told our waitress cancelled our order and left. Saw on their Facebook page that 4 months prior someone else had the same experience. Will never go back! read more

Long day on the road leads to seafood buffet. Food was hot, fresh and plentiful. Waitress extremely attentive. Hubster loved the whole catfish. I made shrimp and grits from items on the bar. Worst service ever. We had to get our own napkins. No ice in the tea and no refills on tea. We flagged down a waitress and asked but she never came back. Neither did our waitress. We were not offered menus or dessert. The biscuits on the bar had to be at least two days old. Terrible experience. Will not go back and will tell everyone I know not to go. read more
