I had a craving for a good salad, after a recommendation for Shoney's I was disappointed. The only lettuce offered was iceberg and it was freezer burnt. The strawberry topping for the pound cake was minuscule. This was a Sunday so apparently 1:30 is too late to get the buffet. My unsweetened tea was not refilled. No waitress came back to me to see if I needed anything. The buffet area was clean. The staff did say numerous times the kitchen is backed up. read more

The Shoney's breakfast buffet was always a special treat growing up, but I haven't had the pleasure since we moved to Texas. We stopped by on a Monday at around 10am since we came in to visit family, and it was fantastic! Maybe we hit the timing jackpot, but all of the food was freshly placed as we walked the line, including a massive mound of hot, crispy bacon. My teenage son and I ate enough to last a couple of days, and we enjoyed every bite. Our waitress was very attentive, kept our glasses filled, and was pleasant to talk to. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Franklin. read more

I have been going to this restaurant over many years. It was great in the 1990's. I used to make it part of my trip (Orlando to Gatlinburg, TN). Sadly the last visit I had the lunch buffet. Food tasted ok but I suspect it was not handled properly or kept hot enough. Or maybe cross contamination from another guest. In any case, my lunch had exited (use your imagination) 20 minutes later. Grateful there are so many hotels along the highway. I don't think I could ever eat there again. Sad. read more

been a long time since I shined on Shoney's but here we were on Saturday evening with just a little time to get some victuals before Lyle took the stage. lodgings are right behind but it's a circuitous route past the auditorium to avoid making a bunch of U-turns. dinner menu is pretty straightforward or you can have a go at the buffet for $12. out of concern for time we buffeted since the foods already cooked and we just gotta pick what we wanted. nice selection on the salad bar side: iceberg or romaine plus carrot slices, onion, peppers, other peppers, and assorted non-veggie toppings and dressing. meats were fried chickens, fishes (popcorn shrimp later), and barbeque pork accompanied by taters, green or baked beans, and collards. third side had fruits and puddings and stuff like that. can't say as we had any complaints since we went back for omelettes the next morning and did alright there too :-) read more

Sadly, Shoneys, Dennys red headed step brother, is a hard pass. We ate there when we moved here several years ago, terrible food state at the buffet. Waitresses not very attentive. Went there again a few months ago, disregarding my wife's suggestion that we not... and my wife was correct. Same quality food as before, drying, dying, soggy or water logged at the buffet. Our waitress was a great example to our son as to what happens when you smoke for a long time. I suspect she was a candidate in waiting for a tracheotomy followed by the neck buzzer she will have to use to ask what we'd like to order... Hard pass. read more

didnt advertise at 12pm they werent serving breakfast. we received a burger with 2 long black hairs cooked in the meat. told the waitress and she said she would have a new one made and have the one deducted off. the MANAGER something to do with flowers in her name ARGUED with us saying she wouldnt deduct because we had a new one made. this is absolutle crap. given we waited an hour to eat due to the hair then ARGUE with the customers that we will still be charged. i am a local to this town, i will NOT be back and i'll be sure to tell everyone to not be to this shoneys. the manager is VERY unprofessional and RUDE. read more

Being a senior and living in the area I thought I'd go ( first time) when company arrived from out of state. We stopped in for the breakfast buffet, which I can say was OK, just . It was just myself and my friend having the buffet and coffee. After the tip , I had a bill for close to $38.00 , FOR BREAKFAST, Two senior men, a couple of eggs , bacon and toast. This Shoneys is terrific! We had the buffet last night and were amazed at the variety and taste of the food! Sunday, on our way back to Atlanta from our ski trip to Wolf Ridge, a group of us decided to stop and eat dinner at Shoney's. We'd passed a Shoney's at some point during our road trip and it came up in conversation. All of us remembered having visited Shoney's as kids, but never as adults, so it was funny that we happened to refuel at a gas station located right next door to one. Our curiosity and ease-of-access was enough motivation to get us to go. Tired from a long day of skiing, we all went with the $8.99 buffet. According to our awesome server, Adam, the buffet is the most popular choice at Shoney's. It wasn't a bad deal. The buffet had a salad bar with typical house salad ingredients and dressing. The meats consisted of fried chicken, sliced turkey, and pork loin. Carb-wise, there was mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, dinner rolls, and fried rice. Mostly Southern cooking. Finally, there was a fruit bar with sliced peaches, pears, and other fruit. Beets, coleslaw, pasta salad, cottage cheese, etc. I'm sure most everything came from a can or some other sort of shipped and sealed container. The meal did its job filling us up before we hit the road again. Everyone who worked there was quite friendly. Adam made a great raspberry tea for me. When you first enter the restaurant, there is a small store selling various merchandise. It reminded me of a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, except not nearly as big. There was one snafu: the tongs for the friend chicken fell into the container of gravy. Instead of replacing the container of gravy, a Shoney's employee just removed the tongs and stirred the gravy around a bit like nothing happened. I guess what you don't know can't hurt you. Needless to say, I did not try the gravy. read more

This Shoneys has some of the most friendliest staff!! The restaurant is very clean i must say. Growing up around Shoney's i've seen my fair share of ones that get 1 to Zero stars, but this one is great. The buffet hasn't had any trays sitting with old or dried up food. They are hot, full, and constantly being traded out for new. Last night i was blown away by the SIZE of the fried and baked chicken breast. It took up over half of the plate and overflowed with juiceiness. Breakfast has had no disappointments either. Really impressed with the quality of the food and staff. I am positive that the owner of this Shoneys and Biden have one thing in common.... more screws loose than a hardware store in an earthquake. $12.99 for chicken, popcorn shrimp, and a few vegetables? Don't get me wrong, everything looked good on the buffet, BUT $12.99?!?! The restaurant was pretty dated....I mean Shoneys "hay day" dated... The impression I get here is that money is penched so tight here I believe I heard Abraham Lincoln screaming from the cash register. ONE SAVING GRACE!! There was only 1 saving grace in this business, whoever the night manager was... Jerry or Gene.. sorry I can't remember. This guy is FANTASTIC, the only one here that seemed like cared about the place and the customer. I can tell this guy didn't own the place because his energy and enthusiasm didn't match the environment. I dont know how long this manager has been here, but if he stays, sad to say his energy will be smashed by this place. read more

After going in to Huddle House a few doors down and not being acknowledged for almost 5 mins we walked out. It was fantastic to be greeted at he door, taken to a table and order a cup of coffee. While browsing menu, our server, Cindy, came up. Explained the buffet was still half breakfast and half lunch (perfect since we wanted breakfast) for $11.99. She came back by to check on us and realized we only had breakfast items and then told us if we only wanted breakfast it was $8.99. For a chain buffet, this one is fine. Been here several times. It's clean, the staff is very friendly and there is plenty on the buffet to choose from. This visit had both breakfast and lunch up. It's edible, but it's not good either lol. We came for the breakfast buffet with memories of our childhood at Shoneys and we're pretty disappointed. This is like any other Shoneys these days, meaning it's quality has gone down hill quite a bit. I was happiest when eating a couple of the store bought powdered sugar doughnuts they have on their buffet for some reason.....so basically the only food they didn't cook.....that about sums it up! read more

Being from the Knoxville TN area, I eat at Shoney's quite often. I found this Shoney's on the web and went there for dinner around 6pm.. I noticed the exterior was very nice and after I entered found that the Buffet area was set up differently with much more space to move around to access the food. What a great start. However it turned negative quickly The meat selection was sad. The only thing that looked edible was the fried chicken. The other items-pork chops, 2 left and very dry. The chicken livers had no onions and were so hard the shattered when trying to cut them with a fork. The Salisbury steak and gravy has a crust covering them. The macaroni and cheese empty and I could go on. After limping thru dinner found no desert at all. No strawberries toppings, cake slices, nothing. ended up with fruit cocktail from the salad bar. When we got up to leave, I noticed several people standing around waiting for fresh food to be brought out. When paying the cashier asked how we liked everything. I explained how disappointed I was. Her excuse was it must have been the party of 16 that just left. A lame excuse. A buffet is your business and should have anticipated the increase in food consumption. Besides, that could have been 4 tables of 4. That should not be a problem. I have been to a Shoney's dozens of times and will definitely go back to one. NOT THIS ONE.
