What can I say about Shoney's food? It's all cookie cutter food. The food at each restaurant is the same, it's ok, not bad or good. We opted for the breakfast buffet. The buffet had a wide variety of foods. There were a few items such as fried eggs or toast that you had to request from your server. However, even these foods were included in the price of the buffet. Since I already knew about the food, one needs to look at other attributes to rate the restaurant as an individual. This place was clean, the food service area, the bathrooms, the seating areas. The servers were polite and attentive, with that special Southern charm. While Shoney's may not be my favorite restaurant, they'll do once in awhile. read more

The food was delicious. I loved the pistachio pudding they had , and the strawberry lemonade the staff is wonderful, came for dinner from a road trip. And we loved it, the Greens weren't completely cooked but it was fine. The price was perfect, and this is definitely a perfect place to got to dinner while staying at one of the motels or hotels near by. The bathrooms are also very nice. read more

Stopped in for lunch about a month ago. Due to Covid-19, seating at 50% capacity. Waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Server came by and asked us for a drink order, I asked for menus to see what drinks they had. Ten minutes later, she had not returned with menus. We got up and left and went elsewhere. We saw fried chicken, shrimp, bbq and ribs on the buffet. We fixed a salad then found bbq chicken breast, bbq in place of fried chicken and shrimp. Disappointed. The bbq chicken breast had little flavor and a gagging texture. Worst meal I've ever had any where especially Shoneys. Was recommended to go here by the gal at the Super 8 from my other review. $12 for the all you can eat buffet which was pretty good. Not as many choices as a Golden Corral but you really don't need that many. My wife is a big pulled pork fan and she said theirs was great. Also had spare ribs which were pretty good. And the usual fried chicken and salad. Soft serve for dessert along with some pastries. They do charge an extra 3% if you use your credit card but I paid cash so it wasn't an issue. When I'm back that way next time driving down to Fla. from Long Island we'll probably stop there. read more

My family and I stopped here during our drive back from our vacation. My family and I take every precaution to try and protect ourselves from COVID-19 and this restaurant is disgusting. ZERO social distancing, no mask requirements even when going to the buffet. And the icing on the cake is the employees weren't wearing mask or gloves and shoveling ice into glasses with their BARE HANDS and serving the glasses to the tables. Barely edible is probably the nicest thing I could say about this place. Though I had a seafood buffet that was as unappetizing as it was greasy and overcooked, others in my party waited nearly 45 minutes for "freshly" prepared food that was immediately pushed away by my wife and kids. This review is for three different occasions all within one week: 1) On a Wednesday, we went to Shoney's and was surprised about their $5.99 burger night. Meal included choice of side and a drink. Burger was cooked as ordered and was at least 1/4 pounder. Very Good! 2) On the following Friday, went back for their seafood buffet. At best, I thought it was marginal, and certainly not worth the $14.99 they charged. My wife tried the buffet, too. After sampling a few items, she decided the buffet was not for her, and cancelled the buffet and ordered the turkey club. She said it was good, but not up to her standards. Therefor, this dining experience was a failure. 3) On the following Saturday, we went back again (by now, Shoney's was the only restaurant open due to Hurricane Florence). They had a BBQ buffet for $11.99, I took a look and said "no thanks" and ordered their hamburger. The wife ordered the grilled ham and cheese. My burger was good, her sandwich was also good. After these three dining experiences, we concluded that Shoney's is just OK, and probably better for their breakfast buffet. No more, no less. read more

Love this Shoney's! Each time i'm going through Manning in the morning I stop in to each breakfast from the buffet. Full bar with so much breakfast food with salads and deserts. Our waitress was helpful explaining their nightly special which was steak cooked outside on the grill with the buffet included as part of the price of your steak entree. Traveling from VA to Florida, we decided to stop for the evening in Manning, S.C. We decided on Shoney's for dinner because we wanted a "not too expensive" sit down dinner. We were seated right away which is about the only positive thing I have to say. 30+ minutes before we got our food. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich that had to be sent back because it was under cooked. When we told the server, her response was "Really? Are you sure?" Rather than chancing it again, he just cancelled the order. While the manager did take it off the bill (as she should have), an apology was not offered. So basically this is what happened. I wanted some good food and the picture of the salmon look great. It was the wild caught salmon with sweet heat glaze. So I guess I don't know what wild caught means because the fish's dad must have been a chicken not a fish. It came out and what even. It was chicken! I promise! While driving down from NY to Florida needed a place to eat and wanted a sit down kind of place. At first reminded me of a friendlys but with a buffet. The buffet was BBQ. My husband an I both decided on the buffet. I personally wouldn't recommend it. It was over cooked greasy fatty food that you knew in a few minutes you would get sick. I think I had some pulled chicken an tried some salad but was disappointed so stopped eating. The fear of getting sick on a 8 hr drive was to alarming.
