    Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken

I had tried their chicken katsu plate a couple of days ago, and I was really excited to see their incorporation with kimchi butter. The chicken had so much heightened flavor and crispiness. I wasn't a huge fan of the Mac salad. It seemed like it was a bit bland. Service is limited. I was the only person waiting for my order, and I don't think it took more than 10 minutes to receive my food. This was my first time visiting the River Street area, and I thought it was so cool to walk around and check out the stores and restaurants. There were a lot of people just spending time with friends and family. It has great vibes and energy to hang out around.

Yas, Shootz in SJC. Located in the food hall of River street market, Shootz brings a different flavor to this town. Parking is free for the first 45 min in the parking lot. If you park on the street then you'll have to pay the meter. They usually don't have a staff at the front, so you have to push a button by the cash register to alert the staff in the back. I got the combo #1 with their signature spam brûlée musubi, kimchi butter chicken katsu and a drink. Everything tasted good, and the portion was fair. I usually love Hawaiian style macaroni salad, but I didn't love the Mac salad at Shootz. It almost tasted like it was going bad? Regardless, it was still a good experience and I would go back.

I can't recommend this spot enough! Everytime I go it's always better than the last. We signed up for the app for the ube desert promo and the store was about to close, but the manager was kind enough to get us two orders of the deep fried ube! Ten outta ten I will always come back to their locations for the kimchi butter katsu sandwich

I've been to River Street a few times, but hadn't tried any of the spots in the food hall until tonight. It looks like a barn and the inside is light and bright with multiple food stalls. Since I'm from Hawaii I wanted to give Shootz a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. I got the katsu chicken sandwich and the musubi. The sandwich was a 10 out of 10. The musubi a 7. The service was quick and very friendly, especially since it was almost closing and they were still happy to help.

First time through this River Street Marketplace "food hall" area near the train station. We decided to try the Shootz Hawaiian themed eatery. Ordered the "Kimchi Butter Kastu Chicken" using the counter kiosk. Within minutes the order was ready. There are very few tables in the hall but many, many tables and larger tables suitable for groups outside where most everyone sat enjoying their meals. The kimchi butter kastu chicken is a HIT! Savory, nice crunch and an enjoyable flavor new to me. The topping of sesame seeds and onions enhanced the butter crust. Also surprisingly was the Mac salad. It reminded me of Hawaii with the right balance (to me) of the smoothness of the dressing, texture of the macaroni and topped with a little paprika.

Shootz is in the Rodeo River Street building at the River Street Marketplace.

Had lunch at the Shootz location in San Juan Capistrano yesterday. Had a Katsu Chicken Sando. There was the option of ordering one or two. One was enough food for me. Professional eaters will probably order two. It took me a few minutes to figure out you had to press a button near the cash register for service. The Katsu Chicken Sando at Shootz is Hawaiian style, so it is different than Japanese style Katsu Chicken Sandwiches. One of the differences is the little round pasta that on on the Katsu Chicken Sando. Shootz is in Rodeo River Street, a western barn style building that is part of the River Street Marketplace. The fast food places at River Street Marketplace are in Rodeo River Street. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I sat outside.

I cannot stress my love for this place more. We always get the chicken Katsu platter. One day we ordered it online and someone else must've taken it and they made another one for us. No problem AND gave us drinks while we waited. Truly cannot advertise them enough! Food is fire. Located in the newer food area on San Juan! Plenty of outside and inside seating but gets BUSY on the weekends.

Rating: 6.5/10 First time trying the Shoots location in San Juan Capistrano. I've been to the Rodeo 39 location in Stanton before, and that one is noticeably better. This location is in Rodeo Plaza and has very limited seating. Not the most comfortable setup if you're planning to dine in. Service was a downside. Took about 25 minutes to get a single combo plate, which felt long for such a small order. Combo Plate (2 Musubis + Plate, Spicy) Very flavorful, but way too heavy. The first few bites were good, but it quickly became overwhelming. Extremely rich, very spicy, and felt like there was too much butter. Ended up not being able to finish it. Musubis Better than the plate. Solid overall, but nothing particularly standout. Overall, decent flavor but held back by long wait times and how heavy the food is. Not as good as the Stanton location.

Decent and quick. We stayed here for a weekend and I got the spam Masubi twice. The spam is cut in half vertically so it's super thin. There's too much rice but the green onion and sauce make it work. I wish there were more to the menu but the price to quality is present.

Kimchi butter katsu chicken sando! Isn't it beautiful?

The sandwich is so good I had to come here twice in one week! While service is very minimal at this take-out counter in a food court, the SANDWICH is mind-blowing! It's the crispiest, most tender chicken katsu topped with their everything mac salad, kimchi aioli, and awesome sauce between Hawaiian roll buns. It came out steaming hot and fresh. The chicken looked like it was begging to be eaten! One bite and I was hooked. I have also gotten a side of mac salad, which was good on its own, but I actually enjoyed it more in the sandwich. Probably wouldn't get it as a side again. Instead I'd go for the musubi because it looks tempting! Plenty of seating in the food court and in the cute outside area in river street marketplace. Parking is easy with 45 minutes free in the lot. I'm still dreaming of this katsu sandwich.

A general view of the service at shoots. Literally every time I come here.

The food is good, but the service is nonexistent. It cracks me up when they ask you how much tip you want to leave and there's not a human in sight, just you and the ordering screen. Then eventually, some kid comes out of the back room with your food. Just doesn't sit right with me. Every time I come here it is like this. I like the food, though, hopefully nobody's spitting on it in the back room because I'm not tipping.

Shootz offers a unique take on classic plate lunch dishes with an added twist! I first had seen them at Rodeo 39 years ago, but didn't get to try them out until now. This location is very cool and unique as it is in a cute food court setting along with other businesses. We opted for the number 1, which came with the kimchi butter katsu, spam brûlée musubi , rice and Mac salad, and your drink of choice. Our food came out in a timely manner, and everything tasted great! I think the only complaint I have, is the spam brûlée musubi not being equally cut, so one piece had more spam than the other . Other than that, I really enjoyed this meal. If you're looking for a meal that your tastebuds will thank you for, this is it! Try the kimchi butter katsu and spam brûlée musubi!

First time trying Shootz out and highly recommend! Regular Kimchi Butter Katsu Chicken was flavorful and crispy! The white rice was cooked perfectly and the Mac salad was delicious as well!

Shootz is in a food hall, not a restaurant. There were leashed pets in and around the outside eating areas. I'd say the River Street Marketplace is pet friendly.

Dessert: Oreo shake and strawberry shake, both rich but not too heavy, just right. Everything was phenomenal, and the customer service matched the food. We were checked on multiple times without being bothered, and the space had plenty of seating both inside and out. The AC was a welcome relief from the heat, too.
