Good place grab tacos and Mexican food in general. Customer service was exceptional even during the heart of dinner time. Al pastor taco- very tasty Shrimp taco- grilled cheese with shrimp Octopus taco- perfectly cooked octopus Shrimp cerviche tostada - also good Everything was very good! They also give you 4 bottles of different sauces too! What a treat!!! I imagine parking can be challenging at times but we did not have any issue finding parking.

Been awhile since I have been here but was not liking all the grease dripping off our tacos tonight. The ceviche was good so I'm gonna give it a pass tonight.

Lupe's really impressed me! It's an unassuming setting outside next to a grocery store but their food is so flavorful and authentic with house made tortillas for their tacos! The happy hour taco deal is great and I loved the octopus taco too. Service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I will be back!

My fault for not coming here as often. I really wanted a quick lunch and I was specifically wanting rolled tacos and popped into Lupe's. I normally get these or fish tacos but today was rolled tacos with chicken. I think three is plenty. It comes with almost a mini salad underneath- fresh lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese. I enjoy the salsa that they serve with it. Counter service is very nice and friendly. Plenty of parking out front. Cool mellow vibes with the TV going. Self serve salsa, bar and soda fountain. Next-door is the full service restaurant which also has the restroom. Overall great experience I'm gonna come back a lot sooner than last time and try some new things. The breakfast looks amazing.

Shrimp Burrito was excellent. Tons of shrimp and plenty of flavor.

It wouldn't be fair to call this a taco shop. It is definitely a step above that. I loved the menu. It is funky, it is creative, it is interesting. Lots of breakfast burrito options and I would have gladly eaten any of them. There are lots of interesting taco and non-breakfast burrito options. They also apparently have booze, ceviche, quesadillas, and more. I tried the Lupe's burrito (carne asada, chicken, and more) and it was good. The bacon in it added another dimension of flavor. The guacamole was, unfortunately, all slopped in at the bottom. Overall, it was a good, but not a great, burrito. It mostly tasted like a decent carne asada burrito with bacon. I probably should have gone for a pastor burrito like many other reviews have recommended. The shrimp burrito was very good and had a lot of flavor. It was absolutely stuffed with juicy shrimp. I loved this one. The tacos are things of beautiful. We tried a shrimp quesotaco and a beer battered fish taco. The shrimp taco was the better of the two. Don't miss the salsa bar. The salsa with the little sign that says "very hot" isn't joking. The nuclear green cilantro salsa is excellent and very flavorful. The chipotle one was nice, too. I give this place a 4.5 but, as usual, I round up. It is a bit expensive but this is Dana Point and, look, the economy sucks right now and prices are high everywhere. The very interesting menu and freshly-cooked food will bring me back.

We tried the Cali burrito and the Lupe's in Cali burritos for lunch. They were both massive. Could not come close to finishing it on my own. They were both steak and shrimp burritos, shrimp was large and tasty. The steak was pretty dry. The fries in the Cali burrito were nice and crispy. I liked adding the creamy sauce they had at the bar and their red salsa to the burrito. It definitely needed it, it was a little plain without it. There is very little seating, next door is the same restaurant but is a sit down restaurant with a bar. You can order food or drinks at either, they have a window they pass food and drinks through. The specialty margarita was raspberry flavored and a little too sweet for my taste. I wouldn't get it again. We liked the paleta's. The blue vanilla was really good.

(See attached photo) After writing my review for my initial order, got home and saw they gave me "carnitas" in the California Burrito! See receipt, should have been steak, NOT pork! ‍

4.5 for this place. They have two storefronts, one that seems to be more takeout and self service and one beside that is full service. We were traveling through the area and saw this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. We had an app of taquittos which were good. It came with some salsa and guacamole to dip in. I ordered a buritto that had steak and shrimp in it. It was very good. It came with a side of chips. Two others had California burritos and seemed to enjoy them. They brought us over 4 bottles of sauce to use as well. There was a red chili, a tomatillo, a creamy cilantro and a smoked chipotle sauce. All were tasty.

Unfortunately the menu has changed up a bit and not for the better. Tried their crispy beef tacos and all I got at the very bottom was some hot sauce and no beef. Sure the taco was filled to the brim with lots of lettuce. And I mean a lot of lettuce and some cheese on top of course. I'm not sure what happened here but I would definitely not recommend the crispy beef tacos u less u want a lettuce taco topped with a sprinkle of cheese. I also tried the wings, and just ok. Small and tough. Nothing tender and tasty about these bad boys. Oh well. This place isn't cheap either, but I would definitely search out somewhere else than here. They seem to skimp on most stuff and charge a hefty tariff.

Location was divided into 2. But the service by Nick was amazing! I started with one server, but his family showed up and I didn't see him again. Nick came over and instantly knew I needed water and noticed I wasn't happy with a dish. But waited patiently until someone came by. He quickly took care of it and offered great alternatives! Refills and I even ordered a few more items with him. I appreciate all the work your teams brings! Great variety of salsas and I truly enjoyed the flavors! Food tasted homemade and I loved it. Great for all. The team also shared they will start opening until 11:30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights!! Yay!!!

Love love love. If I could give these tacos 6 stars, I would. My boyfriend and I come here all the time, and they never miss. The flavor is always on point, and I appreciate that they don't overdo the spice, it's balanced perfectly. The portions are generous, so you actually leave full. It's one of those places where you know your order is going to hit every time. I could get full with two tacos but they're so yummy I have to eat three! Service is fast, even when it's busy. It is a smaller spot, but we've almost always been able to find somewhere to sit.

Lupe's is my favorite casual lunch spot when in Orange County. I always get the grilled fish burrito but do beer battered fish in place of grilled. You have to get a side of guac and all of the salsas! Staff is always so friendly and kind, really sealing the deal for me on this place!

Lupe's mexican Eatery is one of the best and real mexican food in OC...The quality of food is very satisfying and the customer service was great...Eventhough, they just bring the food in your table and before you seat you should have your utensils ready because no one will bring to your table...We didnt know it...The ceviche was the yummiest and i cant say enough about the delicious shrimp cocktail and shrimp tacos....It must try ones!!!!!!! The ambiance was local and cozy..There was dining area...Small one and it seems they have mostly take out one. They were busy...And their guac is so delicious!!!!! One if the yummiest...Fresh and full of taste...Definitely, one of those great place that ill suggest to family and friends...its in shopping center.

    Are they open on christmas?

Do you have any items on the menu that are gluten free? Is your rice gluten free?

Yes ceviche is gluten free corn chips have no gluten

When do they stop serving breakfast?

    Noon

Did they do away with taco tuesday? I didn't see any signs up!

They should still have Taco Tuesday. It was 3 weeks ago we were there so it should still be there.

What are the taco Tuesday deals?

If I remember correctly, it's a buck off regular price of tacos.

What time do you open for breakfast?

They open at 8 everyday for breakfast. Their breakfast burritos are the bomb! This place doesn't seem as busy for breakfast as it is for lunch or dinner which is nice since you almost always can get a seat.

    Do they deliver?

No they do not deliver. You can call in an order. Just an fyi dont have Irma take your order, not only is she rude but she can't even take an order right. This has happened more then once so it not that she is having a bad day.

There was a bit of a wait to get in, so reservations or joining the waitlist ahead of time is a better way to go, but once we were seated service was decent. We had a little one with us and had to get our own napkins for him while we were eating at the table since they were so busy, but they took our orders and brought the food and check in a timely manner. The food: I got the steak bowl- the steak was good, but for a "steak & egg bowl over garlic rice w/a side of greens" I expected savory andddd nope. *very* sweet. The steak marinade was already sweet (Hawaiian, makes sense) but the dressing on the salad was extremely sweet AND I realized as I ate the garlic rice I was *crunching on sugar*. Yep. Sugar. In the Garlic Rice. I asked the waitress before we left just to make sure I wasn't crazy if they did indeed put sugar in their rice and she said that they don't list it on the menu, but they caramelize brown sugar and then sprinkle it on top, and that it is a pretty sweet dish because the marinade, dressing, and aioli are all very sweet- and then they add sugar. She told me there is one chicken bowl on the menu that is over white rice and doesn't have sugar tossed into it- so good to know for next time! I don't know if I'd go back, it isn't cheap and I was sort of bummed that every option, even the savory ones, were very sugary. Also I got the egg over easy, and it was pretty much uncooked. I've never cared too much about a very over easy egg, but the whites hadn't solidified and that gave me the ick. Also got a kids meal for our baby- pancakes, eggs & bacon. It was a decent amount of food, really oily though. In the current move away from seed oils that was especially disappointing

My husband ordered fish tacos and chili and admitted he's had better meals in his life. We drove pretty far to try this place and honestly wish we went next door for better food. Service was ok, our soups came out before we got our drinks, which I didn't like. The food is super overpriced for the quality. The best part was the view.... Hence the second star. I won't go back.

Had a lovely time upon the first visit to this restaurant, and I'm sure we'll return when we're in…read morethe area again. The only mild setback wa that we were seated in the back, near where someone was power washing some floor mats, and we could hear (and smell) the process. He finished before we got our food, so it wasn't a big deal. The server was very nice and the food was excellent. Everything was reasonably priced for the area it's in.

We've been regular customers for years and have always bragged about this place and their pancakes…read moreto our friends. This time, however, the experience was disappointing and honestly made us feel bad in front of our companions, whom we had invited. We drove 30 minutes on a Saturday morning in 90-degree summer heat to have breakfast at this restaurant, so we were really looking forward to enjoying the experience. Unfortunately, it turned into a very disappointing visit. After waiting about 45 minutes for a table which is understandable during busy weekend hours, we were seated outside in front on the sidewalk, with the sun hitting half of the table. I ended up sitting in the corner with an umbrella post directly in front of me to avoid the sun. We asked for another table inside or somewhere with complete shade, but were told it would take a while because there wasn't another table available for eight. What made the situation more concerning was that our party included a pregnant mother and young children, who by any standard needed a little extra attention and comfort in that heat. Our waiter was very polite and attentive, but one of the plates was forgotten and arrived about 20 minutes after everyone else had been served. We then ordered pancakes after meals, which took another 40 minutes to arrive after checking on them twice!!! By that time, everyone was extremely hot and uncomfortable, and we couldn't even stay to enjoy them--which was the main reason we had to come here. Unfortunately, no apology was offered for the mess up, delays or the uncomfortable seating situation. We sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously. We still like this restaurant and have recommended it for years, but this visit fell far below our expectations. Better accommodations during extreme summer heat and more timely food service would have made a big difference.
