The room is sark and moody in a good way with about as many tables as you can pack in. There is nothing wrong with this place but they don't seem to stretch any. I took a day trip to San Juan Capistrano and asked my friend along. We walked the city and enjoyed the boutiques along the way. We decided to come back to Bloom to enjoy their happy hour that started at 4 pm. The host and bartender were very welcoming. Me and a friend decided to take a day trip out to San Juan Capistrano. After exploring around the mission as well as having drinks at the old town district, we opted to check this place out that was right next to the mission and heritage bbq! We walked in and was sat immediately at a booth next to a nice view of the street side. The guy sitting us was really nice and complimented my shirt lol. Totally forgot to take a picture of the menu but they had a brunch menu served from 11:00am-3:30pm and I opted to get the hangar steak and eggs with the daily affirmations cocktail. The drink came out first and was really refreshing! Next came out the steak and for the price ($24) I thought it was just the right amount of food. The steak itself was cooked medium rare to my liking and it tasted absolutely delicious! I wish there were more bites honestly. Eggs were cooked scrambled and tasted good and the vegetables paired with the steak matched perfect. My friend got the focaccia bread with honey butter with a salad and she said that tasted great as well! Overall this place is awesome. Server was really nice and the hostess packed our leftovers. For both of us it was around $100 for the amount of food and I'd say it was appropriately priced for all that we ate. We ordered takeout from here after a 5 hour drive from Santa Barbara. We were exhausted and wanted restaurant food (not regular takeout) but also wanted to stay in so we found this place on Yelp and thankfully they offered takeaway. My husband and I split the Caesar salad, crispy chicken skin mac n cheese and the bone in ribeye. The salad was fine and the anchovies were fresh. The mac n cheese was delicious, smoky and cheesy but not overwhelming at all. The ribeye was good - cooked as requested (medium rare) and was very tender. The bleu cheese mashed potatoes tasted like regular mashed red potatoes, I could not taste any bleu cheese at all but not a huge deal. Everything came to $122 w tax and tip, which I think is very reasonable considering portions were big and we got the big ribeye. After having plans to visit the Rodeo Market it was too busy to be there and eat. My boyfriend and I walked across the street and found ourselves standing in front of bloom. We were both on the verge of hangry so we decided to give it a try. For a busy Saturday they weren't busy which was nice. We were immediately seated and given a menu. We came here today to celebrate my mom's birthday. When we arrived, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco for the table that came with three juices: guava, orange, and strawberry. The server was attentive in opening the bottle and pouring our glasses. He was also ready to make recommendations for the appetizers. We ordered the cinnamon roll, and the focaccia bread. We devoured both, they were delicious. For the meal, I ordered the BLT sandwich with avocado, and it came with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious. My friend and I came in on Tuesday evening to celebrate her birthday. We made reservations for 5:00 and were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty empty which made seating options easy. We loved the brick and the indoor outdoor feel of this restaurant. It's beautiful inside also! After sitting the bartender greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered that vodka drink and the Jimmy peacock. That vodka drink was a bit too sweet for us, but we loved the Jimmy peacock! Such fun and unique flavors. Onto the food- drool worthy goodness! The braised pork belly tostadas were magical- like I want to eat them every single day forever amazing! The tostada was crisp, not soggy at all. On top of the tostada fresh avocado and cabbage carried the pork belly, and then to make it even more fantastic pickled onions and cilantro decorated the top. I could have eaten five of them! Oh man I cannot wait to come back for those!! For dinner we shared the wedge with chicken. The chicken was so tender and juicy! Yum yum yum!! Definitely recommend! I have a lot of chicken sandwiches and they never are truly crispy. My sister had the jidori half chicken and she let me have a bite and WOW same so juicy and flavorful. So happy to have stumbled across this restaurant as I came in here specifically for the pate. Seems like not very many restaurants in the local area offer a liver pate anymore unless as an accoutrement for a steakhouse or so. Service was extremely prompt and friendly, I have no complaints with the staff whatsoever. The establishment is clean and relatively dimly lit, great for a date or semi-casual meal w/ friends and family. The pate itself is great! Enough for one person to snack on & certainly enough bread to share. It does have a hint of sweetness- tbh seems unnecessary b/c there's already the sweetness of the apricot preserves on the side (which is delicious btw) Barely touched the mustards b/c it didn't match as a pairing for the rest of the dish imo, but the cornichon (pickles) are nice for chasing down a nice bite of pate. I don't do sweets myself. I tasted it, and it was delicious. The salmon was good, but not great. A little over cooked. The salad that came with it was good. The beers are over priced. A can of beer is 10.50. Nothing on draft. The ambience is nice and casual. You get a nice street view from the windows. Good for people watchers. The service is on point. I recently tried Bloom for the first time. First off, I love the location. It's a big space that wraps around the corner, right across from the San Juan Capistrano Mission. They have windows that open and a beautiful bar. Our server was upbeat, friendly and was very descriptive when answering questions about the food. We started with the crispy zucchini flowers and it was such a unique dish - I've never had anything quite like it before - lots of flavor! I really liked that they offer zero proof mocktails! The one thing that would be nice are some more vegetarian offerings...other than 2 small salads, they only offer 1 other vegetarian meal. It would be great to see a vegetarian pasta dish or something. Finally, the dessert was also very unique and enjoyable. We tried the berry sorbet, which was delightful. And we also tried the cheesecake, which was my personal favorite! It had notes of orange and raspberry, with pistachio and a raspberry drizzle. Highly recommend! Overall it was a great atmosphere - despite them playing the news on the TVs at the bar. I know news is important, but I don't love watching disturbing things while enjoying a meal. While the restaurant is lovely and the service is pretty good I am not 100% into the food. I have been here twice and each time the food has just been ok, at best. It's the way it is prepared and the items they pair with. I believe when I was in last I order the chicken piccata which I didn't fully read that lingonberry's or some sort of berry was part of the piccata sauce. Lemon, capers, and then a sweeter berry just didn't hit it for me. My mom had the same reaction. I was thoroughly impressed by my experience at Bloom. We started out with the crispy pork belly & pumpkin gnocchi, it is unlike anything I have had before and the flavor was insane. Our server recommended ordering the rosemary focaccia to dip in the leftover sauce from the gnocchi and I'm glad we listened to his suggestion. For entrees we ordered the flat iron steak and chicken picatta; the steak was cooked to perfection and the fries weren't greasy, we substituted mashed potatoes for the fingerlings as recommended and the flavor on this plate was also delicious. This was my first time dining at Bloom, and it was an overall great experience. We arrived without a reservation, but the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming. She let us know there would be about a 30‑minute wait, and even though we ended up waiting a bit longer, we truly didn't mind. Once seated, the experience only got better. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The other staff members inside were just as warm and helpful, adding to the positive atmosphere. Came a few weeks ago for a girlfriend's birthday and Bloom was the PERFECT spot for the celebration. The restaurant overlooks the old mission, and on that beautiful Saturday all the windows were open to let in the fresh summer breeze. Our server and other Bloom staff went above and beyond to make our experience special. They were very careful and patient with accommodating dietary needs. They made great recommendations for the menu. They even brought out these mysterious pretty purple drinks to celebrate the birthday! Food was incredible. Every dish was flavorful and indulgent without feeling overly rich. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Fried items (we ordered chicken & the prime hanger steak) were super crispy and not greasy. We cleaned off every bit of food on our plates! It's a 2 hour drive for me to come here, but Bloom's experience was so great this will definitely be a go-to anytime I'm in the area.
