The Pharmacy staff receives a 10/10. They look after the patient and are genuinely concerned about the patients health. I have been going to this pharmacy for 15 years and would not consider ever going to another pharmacy. The store staff is great also. Always pleasant and always available to assist you. My review on Shoppers in Newcastle is not positive, though we've encountered many pleasant checkout ppl on various quick stops. We use the Post Office because they are always competent and courteous. The pharmacy is another matter. We took prescriptions worth more than $800 in one evening (more than 5 years ago now). While we waited, we picked up 10% cream that was on sale. My husband and I each took 2. When we went to pay for the cream and prescriptions, such a fuss was made that we were not allowed to buy that much cream (we might be trying to resell it for profit, etc.) We explained that we usually buy several in Bowmanville Shoppers without a problem, but, no, we couldn't have more than 2. I explained that my new order for meds would mean that I would continue to buy refills, etc. here, but the clerk (who first declined our purchase) called the pharmacy/store owner. He sided with her. We left everything. Then went back to our doctor to get new Rx to take to our favorite Bowmanville Shoppers, left the Newcastle store with their unsold meds and refused to ever purchase any items there again worth more than a few dollars. The store is a 5-minute walk from our house. It's not a place we recommend. Over those last 5 or so years, they've lost at least $10K in Rx from us. read more

Shoppers Drugmart Newcastle Ontario After purchasing an expensive electronic toothbrush one day, I brought it home and opened the package an hour later only to discover there were some problems. The first problem was that there was no safety/security seal, and that the interior packaging was partly open. I didn't think too much of it until the toothbrush inside was both a different model and USED! I immediately returned to the store imagining they would see what a problem this is from a hygiene point of view and that they would fix the problem for me. Instead, I was basically accused of swapping it myself. Because the corporate policy states no electronic items may be exchanged or returned if the seal is broken I suggested that the switch must have happened in the store and that if they would check their security videos they would find this to be true. Again I was denied this as the effort to actually check through security video would be too great, and what is that video for if no one is going to review it I ask? It was indicated to me that they would have to check 3 years worth of video, back to the day of opening! No one ever reviews the videos?? I was then directed to the number to contact the toothbrush company to see if they would help me, but I insisted that the store call and at least provide me some amount of customer service, which eventually the manager conceded to, but was unsuccessful in getting anywhere as the insinuation continued that I was guilty. When I indicated to the manager that this was the poorest form of customer service and that I had spent a large sum of money as an individual and that one of these CORPORATIONS should fix this for me. still no service. I left with someone else's disgusting used toothbrush and a hate for the corporate world. I have boycotted all Shoppers Drugmarts, instead going to small mom and pop shops at every chance. I believe that small business appreciates the individual and might actually have done something to correct this terrible scenario. Not Shoppers Drugmart! Being a resident in town I plan never to take my business back there if possible. read more
