Byram ShopRite is a great store with friendly staff and an impressive beer and wine selection. Their store picks are excellent, and they recently hosted a free raffle for allocated whiskey--a nice touch for loyal customers. I always try to support them when I'm in the area. There was a time in this country when the saying "the customer is always right" applied to most businesses. It is really quite shameful that ALL of the RoNetco Shoprite stores have forgotten customer service and instead choose to cruelly and viciously discriminate against a disabled customer. ShopRite banned a disabled customer from using delivery services at a time when delivery services were most needed. They went so far as to send a condescending certified letter to that disabled customer, and they blocked their phone number. That customer has several disabilities and is in a very difficult situation, as they cannot drive right now. Delivery services were their lifeline. ShopRite has a long history of messing up this customer's orders. But if you call because you need to add something to your order, they get angry and rude. If you ask if they can get a product, they get angry and rude. Basically, RoNetco ShopRites are angry, rude stores with angry, rude people running them. If you want "excellent customer service", you won't find it at the RoNetco ShopRites. Be aware that when you shop at any of the Ronetco ShopRites, you are supporting a store that discriminates against the disabled. ShopRite refuses to help a disabled customer, but they are more than happy to take their money. They should change their name to ShopWrong. read more

The store is very clean but the produce is awful. The potatoes and onions are always bad. The strawberries and blueberries need to be thoroughly checked before purchasing to make sure you don't get rotten fruit. The deli line is slow and understaffed. They should have a line for people only ordering one or two items. read more

Whoever manages the check out area should be looked into. The rest of the store is well maintained, the deli service counter is great and they are always nice, BUT the check out is so mismanaged and HORRIBLE . EVERY TIME I check out here it is so frustrating. I always have a large amount, I put up my bags, open and set them up for them, then while I'm still loading all my groceries on the conveyer instead of using logic and loading them into the open bags, they don't bag them as they go. It's like they have been trained not to. They pile a FULL cart of groceries in the bagging area and the bags get pushed to the end. By the time I'm able to bag them myself, there is no room to even set a bag. the worst part is meanwhile I watch as 4 or 5 younger employees stand or roam the self check out area, socializing. Who manages this? They should help their cashiers out instead. Newton check out is perfectly run, their manager does an excellent job and they bag your groceries as you load them until I can help out. read more

I'm always impressed with the merchandising of this store. I also like the way they move their lines at Holiday time and they had excellent formatting of customer movement through the registers during Covid times. I appreciate the readiness and availability of the associates to help during self check out. When I'm in a department--Meat--many times associates have asked me if I found what I'm looking for and answer questions on cuts of meat best for my recipes. Produce always fresh and not overly full and stale, just right. I'm proud to have this as my home Shoprite for the past 20 years. Thank you. One day I'll figure out the digital coupon thing. Please keep some cashiers for huge orders or for the customers who just "can't" or are intimidated by the fast moving new ways. This may be my last trip to this ShopRite. I went there because Netcong has usually one cashier. I found Byram is doing away with cashiers. I had to go to the self scan. They should make at least one cashier available for old people , people with small children , and handicapped people. I am 65 years old and I have problems with my hands. They had only one person tending the self scans. They could not ring me up. I have also had problems with their quarter rental of carts. The gadgets that you insert the quarters in frequently don't work and you cannot release a cart. read more

I stopped going to shop-rite because I became sick and tired of being stopped at checkout for mobile scan as well as their produce and meat section. I started going back there for convenience. No more. I went for Memorial Day picnic stuff. Total bill over $300. I was detained because of clams I purchased. Told one thing by seafood department; then told another thing by the other person that was now covering in the seafood department. About 15 minutes later, I was charged an additional charge. Ronetco Shoprites are a disgrace to the Shoprite brand which overall is awesome. I understand we are in unusual times. But everyone needs food, but there are many who are unable to get to the store or are forbidden by their doctor. To make matters worse the stores are still packed which puts people at a higher risk for infection. Ronetco is all about the money, not the communities that keep them in business. Their home delivery slots are filled within 2 minutes as soon as a new day is available. They have multiple stores, but not have added additional vehicles to handle the demand. I am sure they don't have trouble sleeping at night as it appears they don't have compassion. read more

This is my Shop Rite and I usually don't have any complaints. But, during this Covid-19 crisis they are DROPPING THE BALL. I *understand* it's a difficult time for everyone but they have GOT to get the shop from home situation under control. It's being maddening. You have to pack your cart then sit and wait until 8:00 pm for the new time slots to become available, so starting at 7:58 pm you need to sit and refresh your screen. HOWEVER - more often than not, the screen will freeze from 7:55 pm to 8:04 pm and in those FOUR MINUTES every flippin' time slot is taken. That's unacceptable. Some folks are trying to keep our distance from others and now we can't get groceries. We're 2 months in with this pandemic - get it together Shop Rite, this is not how you serve your community. read more

I normally LOVE this shoprite! I love the selections I love the store set up, and the convenience. But recently I had a really bad experience with a cashier "Rie" or "Rhi" I barely glanced her name on her shirt. She kept asking me questions when I was in a hurry to get home and pick my son up from school. She cursed several times when she spoke and it was super unprofessional. There was a family behind me that had young kids and I felt so uncomfortable for them! I don't know if she was trying to be relatable and nice because I'm young too but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll be avoiding her aisle if I see her working, I'm looking for friendly professional cashiers, otherwise I'll just do self check out. read more

Customer Service is totally useless. If you ask why a previous item that was stocked is not there anymore, they always act like they have no control over what is stocked or not. Never put forth any extra effort to help. I have gone there for as long as they've been open and yet, no one ever smiles or acts like they recognize me. Very unfriendly workers. Manager (Jack) isn't helpful either; wanted to buy a kids jeep ($200) that was on display and it was the last one. He was to find the box and other parts and let me know and never responded. I called the following day and got someone else but once again, no one called me back. Even though they said they were no more at other stores, I found one in Wharton. Instead the allow you to shop online and either pick up your order or deliver it, but when there web site isn't screwed up so you can't place an order,or find out that there are no time slots available to pick your order up. This is the regular pharmacy where I get my entire family's prescriptions filled. I have been having a very hard time with a particularly scary medical condition and was prescribed oxycodone. My doctor sent the request to the pharmacy electronically while I was with her. Two hours later I went to pick up my medication. The woman at the counter told me that it was not ready yet, did I have some shopping to do? Now NJ banned bags, so about 20 minutes later I arrive back at the pharmacy counter with 2 armfulls of stuff. My meds were still not ready so I was milling about the pharmacy counter just looking around. The woman behind the counter starts yelling to me, from behind the counter, that I should go pay for my groceries and the meds would be ready by then. I grab all the stuff in my arms and go bring it all to the checkout. I pay and then bring all the stuff back to the pharmacy counter (where they have a register). After all this she tells me I need a driver's license to pick up the oxy. My condition prevents me from driving so I don't carry my license with me. I got upset and asked her why she didn't tell me that I needed license to pick up these meds while I was in the store for 30 minutes? She just said, "You should've known". I'm switching pharmacies. read more

My go to grocery store. This is by far the nicest Shop Rite around. It's clean, looks new, and has a great selection of divers items. The fresh meat is always on point as are the variety of options in the deli. They even sell goldfish (the real fish) and other fish in case you need to replenish your tank. This review is for the Shop Rite Liquors. A beer-lovers paradise! Over the past couple of years, the bear aisle has been expanding to include more and more microbrews. You may not find the very limited release items (Parabola, Black Ops, etc), but you won't be disappointed. And with the newly expanded refrigerated section, you can pickup some really decent stuff on your way off to the pool / party. I hate to let the secret out (because I was able to get bottles of Firestone Walker's Anniversary months after it disappeared from all the other stores), but I have to give recognition to whomever is responsible for the beer section. This location also offers shop at home benefit. Handicap and expectant mother parking availabe. Scooters available for those who need them. A Skylands bank resides inside the store with their own ATM. Shop Rite liquors is right next door in a separate store front. Located within the strip mall is a GNC, Radio Shack, salon, pet store, party store, 3 restaurants (Chinese, Italian, and Japanese). Exiting the shopping center can be tricky - the 206 exits are right turn only. Extreme caution is needed making a left out of the Lackawana Drive side exit. read more

Just found out that you can only write 3 checks per week. After having surgery last week my wife had to write out more checks than usual do to meds and medical supply's, well when she tried to do our regular shopping she was told she had written 3 checks in a week and wouldn't be able to write a check for groceries. Evidently this is a new policy since December but I wasn't given any notice. It should be posted all over the registers. Quite frankly this is the last straw we spend thousands of dollars a year their and end up being embarrassed at the register. Their management is horrible between the front end and the store. After living in this town since before that ShopRite was even built I have heard the same from all the locals, evidently the Romano,s don't care about customers any more. Bought a single serving dessert from bakery- whipped cream came off in one gummy piece. Ate about half the pastry; it was obviously old. I had a cake made her for a baby shower that was held yesterday. The bakery department made such an intricate, fabulous cake- something that is magazine quality. I couldn't have asked for anything else. The cake decorator took the picture on pinterest that we gave her and made it look better than the picture. It tasted wonderful too. Moist and fluffy! This Shoprite is going down hill. The mobile shopping if next to impossible due to the poor WiFi in the store. Week of week the WiFi gets worst. There are fewer people in the store so the WiFi should have gotten better but no so. Also, the issue of social distancing is totally ignored and the Store Manager Dave is useless. Regarding social distancing - when an issue of a customer being rude and not moving was presented to him, he did nothing but stand there and then ended up raising his voice to the woman and not saying anything to the man that was rude. The manager was afraid of speaking up to a rude man and I would recommend that he talk a course for managers in handling issues. If not maybe having him collect carts out in the parking lot is more in line with his abilities. Also, the store does nothing for social distancing except at the main area for checkout and totally ignores the express checkout as many times you are right next to each other instead of a safe distance apart. read more

They legitimately sell bad food. If you buy a pack of berries, clementines, any produce for that matter, be sure that you turn the package over and examine all the fruit inside because 9 out of 10 times there will be bad food in there. I understand, it happens occasionally but every time I've brought berries in the last year there, I got them home and there was bad fruit in the package. Why sell rotten food? Is that even legal? When you do weed out the bad pieces, even with refrigeration your fruit and vegetables will go bad within a few days. I got a multi pack of lemons just this week and when I went for one...lo and behold in the middle of all the good lemons was a sold green lemon covered in mold and shriveled up asking to be released from it's pain and suffering. I honestly don't know how they stay in business like this. I go to Stop and Shop in Sparta now for most of my shopping but for convenience sake sometimes I am force to deal with Shoprite. read more

Recently purchased chicken 2X in one day - both foul smelling and obviously uneatable. Expiration was for at least five days from the date I purchased. Purchased skirt steak that was bad - had to eat cold cuts that night. Purchased sushi just last Thursday and got food poisoning, but expiration date 2 days from the purchase date. Purchased eye drops that were over a year expired and had already opened. Dates on yogurt are sometimes expired Watch when you purchase anything with an expiration date. This store is terrible. The bakery items are good with a nice selection of baked items, pastries, breakfast, cakes and more. They offer frozen and ready to go options as well as the ability to order ahead including customized options. Sometimes the staff can be very rude and off putting. My Mother called and asked to place a cupcake order for my Dads birthday and she was told that the bakery has cupcakes and she should come pick them up and then was hung up on...my Mom is giving the staff member the benefit of the doubt and just hoped she was disconnected. My fiancé went to pick up donuts tonight and a rude staff member abruptly told her the selection she was looking at wasn't marked. My fiancé said sorry and she understands. After a few seconds the staff member said if she wants to buy them she has to go to the counter and get a price sticker. My fiancé said thank you and walked away. After deciding donuts were the best option for our plans, she went back to the barkers and asked for a price sticker from the counter and heard the previous woman say "I told you she'd be back!" Not sure if these are all just isolated issues or not, but these aren't the only issues I've had with the bakery staff lately. It is good for a bakery in shoprite, but the staff could be friendlier and more helpful. read more
