Store is super small. Bathrooms are in the upstairs employee room which is wild, no deli, horrible vegetable department and small inventory.

From the classic signage alone, you can tell this place is a step back in time. It's tiny. Everything is all over the place. Half a section here. Half a section there. It's like a bodega. Paws off my tiny local ShopRite. It's doing just fine! Don't expect the same selection at a much smaller store (duh). They carry most everything at great prices. There's plenty of other options if you need something they don't carry (like the large ShopRite less than 10 minutes away) This store is convenient and I love it for that. It's also always clean, neatly stocked, and the employees are very nice. It's great to see locals working locally. This is a lot to write about a supermarket but I'd be very sad if it ever went away (and ps I like the vibe it matches our historical town) read more

More akin to a large 7-11. There's no deli and the store is like a step back to the 1960s. I would totally skip this and go to a different Shop Rite like Roxbury or Flanders. Or maybe Weis in Flanders. read more

Well stocked and very solid "old school type" Shoprite. Stopped in to grab some essentials and I was able to find everything that I needed. Nice looking meats, produce, and baked goods and the attached liquor store was well stocked as well ;D They follow social distancing here and they limit how many shoppers can enter the store at one time. There chicken sandwiches are atrocious. Undercooked and fatty. Taste like rubber. And chicken tenders I bite through and had a bone in it.

I generally shop at the Wharton, Roxbury shopRite, the other day I stopped at the ShopRite in netcong , only to walk in to a store that stunk to high heaven, the store smelled like urine and the place has not been updated in 25 years, I wouldn't buy a bar of soap from this place, I walked in the smell was overwhelming. This store is like going back in time..Like a 1940 ShopRite. Hot food table. Food comes from Byrum ShopRite and outher food items. It's very very small store. It's good for milk ,bread,chips, etc They need to a redo. This store bring it up the times. It's my basic in and out store Inprovements would do a world of good. The people who work there, try there best. I would not (sorry) do a major food shop, at this ShopRite, check outs are very small, it would take for ever. To pack you food ..small isle to get out,. It took me all most two and 1/2 to get out. The workers are nice...it's the sutes..big management who are hurting this store. read more

This place is convenient when we are in town visiting my in laws. It is right down the street from their house. Parking is atrocious and no one has patience while they're driving in and out, or better word is zooming in an out since people seem to speed with no regards that people are walking the lot and crossing to get to and from the entrance. The last time we went we spent what felt like forever at the deli counter as there suddenly went from what looked like three people working to one. We were the first in line and needed quite a bit of things. I tried to be proactive and grabbed other stuff while my mother in law offered. I managed to grab everything else and my MIL still waited to be done. There was a large blonde hair in the barley lime rice that I pointed out. She removed the hair, but I have no idea where she shook it off to. I am glad I'm not in the area to consistently shop here. read more

3 times over the past 6 months I purchased produce there that looked and smelled great but the taste was off big time. The produce section in general is understocked with limited and damaged produce. Maybe this isn't their fault but the Shoprite in Flanders has never had this problem. Last week I grabbed a pack of flour tortillas. Well within the expiration date and they looked normal. When I opened the pack 4 of the tortillas on the inside were completely molded. The location is convenient but I can't waste my money on spoiled food any more. read more

I like this place because they are discreet about the placement of their eggs and other dairy products. The sign took a few years to fix, simply glowing in a creepy incandescence of "Shop." So you know you're at the right place when you need bologna, milk and Schnapps. I would say that all the employees try their best but thank Yeezus that the older woman security guard who hangs out at the self-checkout was let go or finally passed the "Angry Police Man Academy," program. One time she shook down an old lady who scanned an item incorrectly, yelled at and debased like a teenager from a 1950's cautionary tale movie. I am treated nicely as a customer and don't feel like I am walking past a police station worrying about doing something wrong. During the holidays, you can count on a red-haired Italian woman talking about "Moodza-dell," and the ricotta for the ZITIS is always on sale. A lot of people who shop there are short like I am. Nobody ever looks left and right when crossing the parking lot and thankfully Shop-Rite claims no responsibility for any mishaps that may occur. You also need a quarter to withdraw a shopping cart. I've never seen this at any other grocery store in my increasingly extended tenure of life on this planet. I've been to a lot of grocery stores in my life and they have all been MAD CHILL (like Netflix Chill) about shopping cart procedures, but never the "SR." Somebody I know who is out of state told me that buying cheap yellow wine there was like an episode of "Twin Peaks." I cannot refute that. TL;DR, you can count on this place for sliced meats, dank draanks, Nathan's pretzel dogs, and deodorant. This place is like stepping into a time warp of small town Americana but I've become OK with that. read more

Their fruit section is absolutely disgusting. Every single time I buy strawberries from here, they're moldy! And I've gotten so much food here that's expired because they don't seem to check the dates on their food at all. The customer service is horrible and they're not willing to help you at all when you have a question. It's very dirty and small and doesn't seem like they take care of the store at all. read more

My husband has purchased expired food here plenty of times. I figured I needed to reiterate that it was my husband and not myself because had I been able to go to the store, this mistake would have been noticed before I left the store. Getting all the way home and then going all the way back to the store because your wife noticed that food you had just bought was expired (most recently bacon that was 2+ weeks expired) is annoying and a waste of time. If you are planning on shopping here please be certain you check the expiration dates because one trip to the store is always better than two. read more

This is the closest ShopRite to us, being only one town over. However, every trip to this location ends up being disastrous because 1) Half of the employees in the store seem to be unaware of the deals listed in their own circular, 2) If they make a mistake in pricing a sale item and you bring it up to customer service, they will treat you like you are an incompetent imbecile with a grand scheme to steal money from them, and 3) Many of the employees, including one of the store managers, are just plain rude! My fiancé made a quick trip to get two one pound lobsters, which are advertised in their circular this week as being $5.99/pound as long as they are between 1-1.25 pounds. While purchasing the lobsters and asking for them to be steamed, the employee proceeded to say that he initially could only give my fiancé one lobster. Upon stating that he would just get them at another ShopRite, suddenly the employee stated he could give him both lobsters. The trouble continued upon checkout. My fiancé was charged $7.99/pound by accident and was told that the $5.99/pound deal is only for lobsters less than one pound - which is clearly not what their circular said. My fiancé ended up going to customer service, where he was provided the worst customer service by an elderly manager who absolutely refused to acknowledge the mistake and told him she didn't "believe him," despite him showing her the wording in the circular and going through the math calculations with her (and by the way, he is a computer engineer and knows his mathematics). This progressed to an additional argument about how perhaps the extra cost was for the lobsters being steamed, which is absolutely false (and was confirmed by the seafood department and another manager). A younger manager ended up stepping in and fighting with the other manager to give back the amount owed for the mistake, but it was an absolutely ridiculous scenario. The initial manager absolutely could not admit to the store making a mistake and was just downright rude. She should not be working in the front end if this is how she treats customers. Please skip this ShopRite and head straight to ShopRite of Byram or ShopRite of Succasunna and save yourself the stress. read more
